It's claimed the amount of roads funding granted for the Shannon Electoral Area has failed to take account of the volume of traffic in the region.
Shannon Municipal District has been allocated €3.3m to maintain its roads under the municipal schedule of works scheme for 2026, with this funding up 14% on last year.
Elected representatives claim however that the funds fail to take into account the wear placed on local and regional roads when incidents on the M18/N18 lead to diversions.
Cratloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat O'Gorman believes it should be revisited.
