For every two, three hours, Eric Sermon didn't play rap man. From my hood, he's like, nah, nah, that dude again, do it. So like I'm like you saw, I've been a biggie. How is the biggie boof it? Biggie, remember what's all? It was different. So I sent him the beat. He said he liked it. So I had the studio in my house. So I was, I was writing in my engine here. I don't like that. I go back. I don't like that. I did, I, I, I did the record probably over about seven times. So then I got one that I like. They wanted you here.

7:10I was nervous because, you know, for me, it wasn't about being a rapper. It was about rapping with my favorite artist. So big get to the house. I go in the studio. I'm shaking it. I play it. So bigs like this is ego. That's tight, big dog. Now I'm happy to them up. I'm like, for real? He's all finished. I said, I don't need to do it. No, I don't need to do it. So now I don't like to bother you. I said, Hey, man, I'm going to house. There's my engineer. We hit the button whenever you get done. Just let me know. He's like, I'm ready now. Let me tell me, he's ready now. And I'm going to never, like I ain't never seen that before. And one take, he killed it. But it was, it was super vulgar. And I had to hit the button. I was like, he's like, no, no, I'll be right for the kids for the kids. So then he's for the other. I'm the only one with that other vulgar works. And I'll never put it out. Out of respect for his things. I want to be a thing I'm happy. But he, when I tell you, Demo, what's saying? And I'm up there. And so then after that, that took us to about five minutes.

8:11We in the house. We eating cake. And then in the next day, him and see he tried to get on him up. Seed was almost drowned. Him and look. Seed is on the seat. I had to get the fuck out of the water. You were the lifeguard. Yeah, yeah. You think I'd ever get back to the way it was for artists? I mean, like selling out to get a little bit of change. But these, these streaming numbers, I guess. You don't get no money from streaming. I wouldn't say that. I wouldn't say that. I would say this. I would say the artists need to negotiate. They deals a little bit better. And what you see on the front of streaming might not. What you be. What you see on the back side of streaming. I know. But I miss the days of going in and start getting it like. No, I missed that. Now that the hunt, we were talking about that just yesterday. The hunt of going to get that CD that everybody needs to look at the booklet to look. Okay, we want you to start a country. I want you to pick the CD up. You already know. Record label getting they cut and you getting they cut. Now it's the street like. Like to me, when when I hear somebody

9:11chick, I streamed a million times. I'm like, oh, they went platinum. But you only get $2,000. This is a platform that people will get paid from. And remember, these kids get monthly money residuals. So I'm get a pretty good monthly check or for music. So I don't know if they explain to you everything. So some people using it like their retirement fund. Some people get $70,000, $80,000 a month. And every month for the. I know, but you had hits. Yeah, and I get a pretty good amount of money every month off my heads. And I have publishing checks that come four times a year. And I have other things that I've gotten with these hits that I've done because I was able and I was blessed to be able to come out before all of this crazy stuff start to happen. But I'm a nipple like the streaming like nobody else. And do I miss the law of the old school game? Yes, but it's not the same. And while I'm in this game, I got to adapt and be able to stay at the forefront

10:12or what's going on. And that's how we make our money. But the kids didn't get to witness that. So it doesn't feel like they're missing anything. The only people that feel like is missing something is us. Because we've been in before. And we can make the similarities between or whatever between the streaming and the old way of people used to get. The youth kids, they never had the luxury of doing that. So they could give too much about it. You know what I mean? With the only ones, the older generation is the only one that's complaining about these streams. If you ever notice, if you ever notice. Speaking of your heads, we fly high. It's obviously one of your most well-known songs. I'm curious to know, did any NBA players hit you up because they like that song so much? Now, here's the funny part of we fly high. All NBA players love the record. I'm not trying to get the record to be part of the NBA's. Sister, maybe as an anthem. I believe David Stern was still there, I believe. And they told me that the NBA does not encourage hip-hop or does not do business with hip-hop at the time.

11:14And now you look back. And now I'm looking back. Why didn't you call me B? I didn't, I hadn't. Listen. You know what I'm saying? But you know who for you? And I was so hurt. Because I was like, yo bro, the whole NBA, this is a heavy college, I mean college locker room. They just, no, there's no sports team that's not listening to this right now. And shout to straight hand, because when straight hand, straight hand starts sacking people on Monday night football and get up and doing the ball and dance. And then all the giants start getting up and doing the ball and dance. It took the records Monday night football, the biggest day on TV. That took the record to it. And then they started fighting me to the games and backs them in the locker room. Like, I wanted the next to do it. I was so hurt that I couldn't get that off with the next, but I still love the next. When you created that song that just happened because you heard the beat or something like that. It happened because my back was against the wall. I did a record with the franchise boys that same record was the record I had with franchise boys and my label was pressure me to do a single

12:15because we had deadlines to make. And I was like, yo, put that record up. Take the franchise, try the franchise boys. Take the franchise boys off of it. And my one of my little mans from the hood. I'm like, yo, call your baby, mom. If I want to sing, we're part of this hooker that doesn't start rearranging the song. I just saw drop down and get to Eagle One with Puffy and Nelly on the video. And that's how I was like, yo, we got to get the girl and just kind of came together with my back against the wall. And then I had no idea it was going to be what it was. It was just like me trying to get a record on a good tempo beat that I could give to the label. Like, you can use this for the radio and it was the word. Have you ever felt like you know, like in that moment when you're done recording a song that is going to be a hit? You would think you know, sometimes it happened like that. Ballin wasn't the one that I knew it was a hit. I mean, Ballin wasn't the record that I wanted to put out as my first record. What was the one that you want to put out your first? I can't remember what was the first. I think it was like repping time or maybe it was like pinning tail on a donkey when I'm records I had on that. But Flex started DJ, Flex started playing ball and then taking it to a whole other stratosphere.

13:17And then it just started connecting. Like you say my momentum. The snowball effect started happening and it was out of my hands. It was just going. I'm gonna ask you a question. I want you to elaborate. Because it may be a touchy subject. So just be yes or no. We'll never be a reunion. Because as a fan, I would like to see that. I'm always over for a reunion. Yes or no, my brother? Um, up to me? Yes. But I'm just me. You heard? You did? No matter what goes on. You did? Because my thing is, I know it's two sides that this is my personal and it's something that we built. You know what I mean? And if the money is right, I get on stage with anybody. I might want to fight you after stage, but I get on stage and see and the people who are going to look like it and they're going to love it. It might hug you on stage. But we're on stage instead of the team. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? Have any of those conversations happened or? Um, I don't think people want to conversely me right now. But so it's always, it's always a way to get things done if it becomes that type of business. I don't believe anybody's that hard up, um,

14:18about not making no good money. I mean, we built the brand that, uh, if somebody did come to us to do something, they know it's going to be a pretty penny. They got to pay. And I don't think, I think everybody like pretty pennies. You know what I mean? When it comes to certain music that we grew up on, music that you created, this new music, or you're a lover or a hater? I'm a lover. Like you like something new that? I love some of the new stuff. I mean, I love some of the new stuff. Um, I don't love all of the new stuff. I'm with you on that. I mean, I can say that, but I love some of the new stuff. And there are some artists that give me that nostalgic feeling in today's. Gabe, very few. You know what I mean? But, you know, we listen to, we listen to music way different than than the new kids. I mean, the things that satisfy us, it's way different. But then again, we had our time. And that's what I want people to know. Like, well, we had our time. There's no really critiquing the new music, because it's not new music. It's their music. We had our music. You listen to beats, lyrics. Me? I listen to lyrics more than I listen to beats.

15:18You got to be beats for me first. I mean, that's how I am. I mean, a good beat. A great record is a great record. But I'm from New York. So we always try to listen if somebody has we got that flow. His cadence is right. He's spitting crazy. You know what I mean? And then the beat is going to make him more crazy. But for you to get respect in the New York artist's eyes, you better be saying some and try to disguise it with the beat. We don't want to hit. We don't listen. Don't do that. And then they all records that just sound good no matter what it is. It don't even got to be just he can say anything. And that if it's good, it's good. You know what I mean? So then what's your take on the mumble rapper generation? Mumble rap. I like some of that too. Some of it is good. Some of the day they mumble them. But there's people that understand the mumble rap. And I know real preference. I like what I like. And I don't try to discredit anybody for making any money. There was a place where people was listening into dip set in Jim Jones. Like what the f**k is he really rapping about?
