We return again to Phyllis White, who has some more delightful information about the Sherlock Holmes radio broadcasts.
Phyllis?
Rathbone and Bruce were making films, and they had just one day off per week for the radio work.
They received the scripts a couple of days early to look over if they had time.
And they would turn up at the studio for the afternoon of broadcast day.
When the first reading would be rather slow and broken up as there was discussion and maybe a few changes,
then there would be a reading for timing to fit to the exact number of minutes available.
It was more likely to be too long and too short.
The Edna would flip over a few pages and knock out a couple of words here and a couple on another page,
and they would miraculously come out exactly to the minute.
And so they went through the rest of the afternoon.
Obviously, the temple and pressure increased and the show sharpened up.
At the end of the afternoon, they went on the air for the Eastern United States.
Then there was a couple of hours break, and everybody would go out to dinner,
and they would come back and do it all over again for the West Coast.
I feel very thankful now that these live and ephemeral shows were captured on disk
and that they could now reach a new audience.
Now, please join Phyllis and I as we listen to the Iron Vox.
This episode from the Life of Sherlock Holmes will be transmitted to our men and women overseas by shortwave
and to the worldwide facilities of the Armed Forces Radio Service.
That tree-wine brings you...
Basil Lathbone and Nigel Brooks and the new adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
The Patrick family, the family that took time to bring you good wine,
invite you to listen to Dr. Watson tell us another exciting adventure he shared with his old friend
that master detective, Sherlock Holmes.
Well, this is the New Year's Eve, and I wish you could be here with us this evening
so we could toast each other with a glad Patrick, California port.
As you know, port wine is long been a favorite wine for celebrating a happy occasion.
That's because port is a wine rich in tradition,
and you couldn't ask for a more delicious port than petri-fort.
Petri-fort is a deep-growing red color, beautiful to look at and wonderful to taste,
with a hearty full flavor that's right from the heart of the grape.
And when you serve petri-portier friends tonight or anytime,
remember you can serve it proudly because the name Petri is the proudest name in the history of a Mexican wine.
And now I'm sure Dr. Watson's waiting for us, so let's drop in and see.
Good evening, Dr.
Good evening, Mr. Batel.
Go up your usual chair.
Thank you.
Ah, that's it.
Well, did you enjoy the Christmas holidays?
Well, I've had a whale of a time, thank you,
but I don't think I can face a turkey or a men's pie for at least another year.
How about you, Dr. Watson?
Well, I had a very present week too, my boy.
Poffies, visitors, and a petting number of Christmas messages to be answered.
Oh, I see, you got a new pie.
Is that a Christmas present?
Yes, you pipe.
You tobacco pouch and a pound of my favorite tobacco.
All of them sent to me from London by an old clowns and a friend of mine.
Ian Dunbar.
No plan, huh?
Well, do you mean he was one of your patients or was he someone that you and the great Sherlock Holmes helped?
The latter, Mr. Batel, as a matter of fact, it was receiving this gift that reminded me of the story I've decided to tell you tonight.
The story in which Ian Dunbar played a permanent fight?
And how did it begin?
The day before New Year's Eve in 1899.
Sherlock Holmes and I sat in opposite corners of a first-class railway carriage.
We sped towards Edinburgh in the flying Scotland.
What set you in Sherlock Holmes up there, Dr?
It started over the hundredth anniversary of Mr. Batel.
My old friends to Walter Dunbar, those Holmes and me to spend a few days with him at Dunbar Castle.
About twenty miles outside Edinburgh.
Up we left things cross-station.
Holmes, his sharp, eager face frame in his dear topping cap.
Yep, into the bungalow-fressed facelars and people with him.
We left Bedford far behind us before he thrashed the last one of them under the sea.
Greened of course, and up in there, here's a cigar.
Care for the gal watching?
No, I think so.
Well, I'll stick to the pipe.
Flying stunts, living up to its name.
They're going splendid there.
I'll fit in with 50-3 and a half miles an hour.
Oh, I haven't noticed the quarter mile pull.
No, have I?
But the telegraph bursts on this night.
The other path.
The aid of a watch.
The calculation is a simple one.
What's my dear fellow?
We have several hours ahead of us.
That's only more about Walter Dunbar.
I have a feeling that he's in some kind trouble.
If you're having one talk about it.
Well, it's not exactly trouble, Holmes.
But there's a strange problem that confronts the Dunbar.
There's a problem.
It'll be settled at midnight tomorrow.
Oh, he is.
Night New Year's Eve, eh?
He is.
Exactly.
I really appreciate the story I have to begin by telling you
the death of Olsa Thomas Dunbar.
The father of the present day.
Yes, he was severely wounded at Waterloo, though he managed
to last that long enough to get back to Dunbar Castle.
The story goes that, as he lay there on his deathbed,
he killed his wife of his plan.
Yeah, I'm fine.
Uh, didn't agree with last.
I've touched the Bernaxier home from Waterloo.
What if I fell for Waterloo as well?
Oh, I shall ask.
I'm not afraid to die.
I'll let you guys news that I shall never see the child you bear.
So what was Scott not coming yet?
Eh, can he visit the deathbed of his old friend?
Who's there?
I think he was Henry Murdock.
Bye, Thomas.
It's me.
Eh.
I'm leaving an unborn son behind me on a day.
Now I don't trust women or children or things for that matter.
Put the best part of my wealth and gold
and the big iron box you'll find under the bed.
The money's there.
I ain't something else for any day.
You have to keep that box in trust for me Sunday.
You can kind of doubt it to my boy
on the New Year's Eve before his 21st birthday.
And he'll be a man and wise enough to know how to use it.
Do you understand, Thomas?
Hi, Thomas.
What's the pose?
Your bear is a girl.
Girl?
I tell you, it'll be a boy.
We'll name him Walter Reff, too.
My good friend.
Sir, Walter's Scott.
Interesting story, Watson.
And that child, of course,
is the gentleman we are going to see now.
It's Walter Dunder.
Exactly.
And the first talent was a friend of sub-altor Scott
by his son, composed of uroclinogens,
a family singular rich in literary friendship.
And it's not very funny, huh?
Continue, I suppose.
You can guess what happened?
The Thomas Keff drew up a document for Stessbar.
The New Year's Eve before the darnits,
21st birthday.
And the poor child was born on purpose.
It's 29.
It was a leap year.
Of course, the Walter is waiting for his own box for a goal.
He'll be 84 next year, yet legally.
There's only one birthday every four years in the out of the law.
He...
Thank you, Walter.
No, most of the situation.
Though I'm afraid the Sir Walter finds it far from entertaining.
The lawyers must have been extremely scrupulous
and abiding by the letter of the document.
The old family bird off is dead now, of course.
But he too was a great grandson, William Birdock,
who still handles the Dunbar estate.
He'll be at the castle tonight to formally handle the young buck.
I'm delighted to accept the holiday invitation, Sir Walter.
My dear fellow, I've needed a rest, but...
I'm always lulled to stick to one.
This situation may pose a nice little problem for me.
Problem?
Yes, I'm reasonably certain.
The aged Sir Walter Dunbar...
...will get his iron box full of gold on this New Year's Eve either.
But we will be awful of...
We shall see.
Dr. Watson.
I'm glad to see you and Mr. Holmes here at the castle.
Thank you, my boy.
Holmes, this is Ian Dunbar.
Sir Walter Dunbar.
How's your doing, Mr. Dunbar?
I'm very proud to meet you, Mr. Holmes.
I've heard of those about you.
A grandfather will be down in a few moments.
Let's go into the library, tell her.
I imagine Sir Walter's quite excited about that terminus.
Would you be?
If you'd waited 63 years too long for an inheritance.
Thank the Lord, I have the force to be born on the Prozeic day to August 21st.
If you had a grand father's death, you would have done it, I'd take it.
Yes, Mr. Holmes.
You see, my father was killed two months ago at Mathematics.
Yeah, I read about it in the papers, my boy.
I'm sorry.
Thank you, Dr..
The opening of the box isn't going to be the only ceremony at midnight.
The door at the end of the day are announcing our engagement.
Do you like it?
A door at the small.
He and her father are staying here too.
My congratulations.
Yes, indeed.
Indeed.
One, two.
Thank you.
It's been quite tough over the past though.
He's a businessman and doesn't impress with title when they aren't accompanied by a suitable income.
But when we told him about the inheritance, Peter Lenton gave his consent.
Ah, here's Dorothy now.
Dorothy Darling, I want you to meet two friends of mine.
Mr. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.
How do you do?
Now, how do you do, Mr. Holmes?
Hi, my dear.
From what this young man's been telling us, I gather the congratulations in order.
Thank you.
I finally persuaded father that he and would make a worthy son-in-law.
For a while, I was afraid we'd have to look for Grant and Beans.
Little cottage on bread and cheese and love that's raised at parental rest.
Just as they do in the story books.
Oh, I spoke to her.
There you are.
What's in my dear boy?
Oh, yeah.
And this must be your friend Sherlock Holmes.
How do you do about that?
We're a world for a young nipper who'll be 21 at midnight.
Oh, again, for a minute.
May I introduce Mr. Herbert Smith.
I will.
I believe that we have congratulated you on the engagement of your daughter.
That was the pose to remain a secret until midnight.
The Dunbar box was finally open.
Didn't make her out here, Herbert.
The children are in love, and I'm going to settle money on Ian.
And it's New Year's Eve.
That's answered into the spirit of the occasion.
Bring out the glasses, Ian.
I bet some bottles at my special pride to know.
It's the finest port in Scotland.
The creamer Dunbar.
My father read the first bottle down the year before I was born.
And the drink of the brew was surely one of the cockles he had.
Well, my mouth's watering already, so what is it?
Well, when is this the lawyer felt like I'd burn off any care?
Oh, any moment, Herbert.
As soon as he arrives, dinner, that will be ready for the evening ceremony.
Do you bring the famous iron box within some order?
To three dozen, they won't get any dinner, Holmes.
Ian passed the glasses on my boy.
Ah! Here you are, my box.
Good evening, sir.
Oh, you've got the box we are, Steve.
Now the party's complete.
Oh.
Let me introduce you.
Mrs. Small, her father, Mr. Small, my grandson, Ian, you know.
The Sherlock Holmes.
Dr. Watson.
Oh, you do, isn't it?
I'm sorry I'm late, Sir Walter.
My frame was delayed.
Oh, that's all right, my dog.
You're here.
And you brought the box.
That's all that matters.
Here.
You are a young lawyer at length.
Here, I'll help you, boy.
I must say that this is all exciting.
Holmes, the famous iron box with its inheritance of gold.
Yes, and from the size of the box.
The box.
Yes, and it estimates its cubic content in gold at around 5,000 pounds.
Not about some, perhaps, of a businessman like Mr. Small,
but a windfall who an impucunious scot got him.
No, that will do.
A strong young man, Mr. Möder.
How do you mean strong, Holmes?
A box that finds full of golden sovereigns
would weigh considerable amounts.
And yet the lawyer carried it single-handed.
I know that we're all assembled.
I'm going to propose it to you.
So it's still some who is of yet blessed ring to the New Year.
It means a lot to some others.
And I've seen Holmes.
I know.
We can tell us more than just 1900s of water.
We should bring to the new century that's about to begin.
Good idea, Dotty.
Oh, I'm afraid that wouldn't be quite appropriate, Miss Small.
To be accurate, the previous century won't begin until January 1st, 1901.
Not 1900.
Of course.
That's it.
Dotty.
Warning.

Brother, what are you talking about?
I read an article on the other day that said just the same thing as you, Dr. Watson.
And what's more, it said something even more important.
It said that 1900 is not a leap year.
Oh, rubbish!
A leap year comes every four years.
There was one in 1896, then obviously 1900 is one.
I think Mr. Small may be right.
What do you say, Mr. Who's do you know?
Well, I hope no one would bring up this boy.
It's the ultimate problem I referred to on the thing that you wanted.
For heaven's sake, answer.
Is 1900 a leap year or no?
I'm afraid it's not so well.
No, no, no.
Because of a slight imbalance that would otherwise and people used in the calendar.
Of the even century years and the first visible by 400 are leap years.
In other words, 1600 was a leap year.
The year 2000 will be a leap year.
But 1800 and 1900 are not leap years.
Then you have no birthday next year.
So I'm afraid I can't open the box tonight.
And the done box won't get down here.
And you right here don't marry for a few more years.
I won't allow you to marry a small part.
Mr. Holmes, are you sure of your fact?
I'm very much afraid that I had to marry.
Oh, this is terrible.
I can't stand anymore.
No, no, no.
I don't think it's too bad.
It's more than here.
Yeah, think this.
Yeah, yeah.
That's it after all.
You only have to wait until four years.
Another four years.
At my age, young man.
At my age.
Oh, no.
I shall never live that long.
Hey, what is it, Angus?
Dinner is a part of our work.
You can have it as soon as you're ready, sir.
Oh, that's what a miserable meal home.
The Walter's gone to his room.
The young lover is a million tears.
The small and the lawyer, Merrick, seems to be positively gloating.
Yes, and Mr. Perkin hadn't spared him his work in the New Year.
But that asked at least make the best of it.
I think I'll go and have a talk with Sir Walter.
And you might catch up.
I'm not trying to cheer up the young folks.
And with your experiences, it means you're out.
It's quite no deal.
I'll join you in the library.
Call me if you want me to.
There you are, my dear.
Hello, Dr. Walter.
All alone in front of the fire.
I'm afraid when I'm not in very good spirits.
Oh, nevertheless, I'll sit down here and join you if you don't mind.
This is where your love is coming from.
You're very kind, Dr. Walter.
I was just trying to persuade you into a love with me.
But he's doing most on gallons.
He won't even consider it.
How can I, darling?
I've got under 200 pounds a year to my own right.
How could we live on that?
I was counting up money the grandfather was going to give us to get me started.
No, no, no, no.
This small a little earlier,
you popped a brick to green and bread and cheese,
and filled with love in the pocket.
Yes, it's a lot to be said for it, you know.
Well, to be said for it, yes, Dr..
But have you ever tried it?
Not literally my boy, but...
I'm telling you, if we married my wife and I was married,
I had very little money.
In fact, my income was just about the sum that you mentioned.
And we were very happy.
Father, do you have a profession, Dr.?
Look at me.
I've been trained for nothing except to be learned of Dunbar Castle.
I can't support a wife on tradition.
But you're young, Ian.
You can get some kind of position.
Yes, of course.
Of course.
Of course.
As a matter of fact, I think that...
What is it?
What's wrong?
The devil's working for Watson.
Come with me over.
And you, Mr. Dunbar.
Mr. Holmes, what happened?
It's about us.
I went to his room.
It was in darkness.
But in the room, I saw two figures threatening by the open case.
One of the rooms was subaltern.
As I entered, he disappeared from sight.
If the attack had pushed him out of the window,
he'd have the most...
Oh, dear!
The other end got away in the darkness.
We've just kept lanterns and go out for the most of once.
So I'm very much afraid, Mr. Dunbar, that your grandfather is beyond our health.
Dr. Watson will be back in just a second, so...
I just like to remind you that if you want to serve a wine over the holidays,
that you're sure the ladies will enjoy, serve Petri-California Muscatel.
Petri-Muscatel is a golden wine with a wonderful flavor.
The flavor of big, clumped muscat grapes.
You know what a flavor that?
I'm sure you'll find that Petri-Muscatel is the favorite wine of all women.
This is Petri-Port is the favorite wine with men.
And incidentally, if you're not sure which to get, Petri-Muscatel or Petri-Port,
don't buy one, buy two.
Get them both, and you'll be sure to please everyone.
Now to get back to our story.
Someone had pushed poor old Sir Walter out of his bedroom window,
and enter the moat below.
Isn't that right, Dr. Watson?
Yes.
It's about to go, of course.
We have lanterns as fast.
We couldn't rush outside.
It was a hopeless task.
The water was eight or ten feet deep,
and it seemed obvious that the elderly as the water
wouldn't have a chance of saving himself.
The research done.
The thicker, bobbing lanterns,
the scarring figures in the foster moon life.
Swimming a weird.
Can't touch.
I'm it.
Bring a lantern over here.
Hi, sir.
Can you see anything wrong?
Nothing.
I don't see why your friend doesn't call the police, Dr. Watson.
The company's nothing.
You thought they might be a chance of finding the old man alive,
but it's just small.
You want to avoid a scandal as possible?
I'll say, sir.
As well as the Donbos.
This scandal can't touch me or Dorothy over this.
An engagement was never announced.
And it's a great pity, sir.
I can pick some new blood in your family.
It'd be a great improvement.
Or being completely important in life.
And you'll be contented.
They're hard to serve.
Well, Holmes, if you're giving up hope?
I don't know.
The paper never finds even that draggness and graphing hope.
I have to call the police.
One time is it.
Sir Ian.
You're not a time.
What did you call me, Mr. Holmes?
Sir Ian.
Hi.
You're here.
He doesn't seem a bit to your homes,
but of course you're right.
If your poor grandfather is dead, Mr. Donbos.
You're the better nut now.
And the time is set in.
It's a quarter to twelve, Mr. Holmes.
I've got out of an hour to the new year.
Sir Ian.
Doesn't that thank you for just something to you?
Yes.
Yes, it does.
So I'm the new nut, am I?
Stay welcome.
There will be no more talk of the police for 15 minutes.
I want all of you to come back to the castle with me.
As the time of midnight rings out,
I shall have a statement to make.
A statement that I want you all to hear.
Oh, once you've brought us over here for home.
Something very funny going on.
I tell you, I don't like the look of it.
And I like to look at it very much.
If you wouldn't be so dashing mysterious, what are you up to?
You haven't taken a step yet towards finding the murderer?
Have I?
I wonder what color is the taste of frustration on Mr. Holmes' brow.
I wonder what color is the singular look of apprehension on the face of murder?
The young lawyer.
You remember, of course, on my remarking how easily he carried the large, iron-buckers cup?
Yes.
He took a strong man to throw the water out of the window.
What?
A few years approaching.
Ladies and gentlemen, in view of our recent tragedy,
this is one New Year's Eve when none of us feels like song and jealousy.
But there still remains a ritual beauty for me to perform.
Mr. Murdock?
Open the Iron Box, please.
But I can't do that.
It was only to be open for your grandfather.
No, Mr. Murdock.
The phrase was that it was to be opened on the New Year's Eve before the Baroness 21st birthday.
I am now the Baroness, and I shall be 21 next year on August 21st.
Open the Box, please, Mr. Murdock.
I've been darling.
How practical, everyone.
Don't be scared.
I hope you think about it.
Mr. Murdock.
Open that Box.
Very well.
I'll tell you.
When I'm afraid you're in for something of a shock.
Great.
Scottie, the Box is empty.
Except for a sheet of newspaper in the bottom.
What's the meaning of this murder?
Read that paper, sir.
And you'll understand.
I owe you four thousand sovereigns.
And it's signed Alexander Murdock.
On behalf of Murdock Murdock, lawyers.
You better explain this.
It's the family skeleton, sir.
And that notice I'm from a great grandfather.
The one that witnessed the original deconserting the box.
As soon as the water was born on that February 29th, my great grandfather realized
the money wouldn't have to be produced for 84 years.
And so he stole it.
He borrowed it.
He always intended to pack back, but he was never able to.
When he died, he told my father of his secret.
My father and turned told me.
We've always planned to put back the money, sir.
But we've never been able to.
This is daylight robbery.
You could prosecute me on the firm still in business.
You can ruin them.
You can sue them.
But every day they have.
This stuff's small.
You've already shown a mock diversion to my family.
I suggest you allow me to hand the letter fairs.
Bravo, Ian.

Oh, here you got it.
No one's going to their room.
No one's leaving here until a police arrive.
I'm convinced that one of you murdered my grandfather tonight.
And if you ask me, it's obvious who that someone is.
Who, doctor? What's used to murder?
You came here paying the kill for all to work because you never until it opened that box.
You thought that your shield would die with him?
That's a lie.
I was going to tell him everything and then ask for time to pay the money.
I didn't kill him.
Of course he didn't. There's your murderer. You yourself in.
Brother, what are you saying?
I'm saying that he ends the murderer.
He saw that the box wasn't going to be open for another four years.
He realized the money couldn't marry Dorothy.
So he killed his grandfather and then orders the box open.
You're trying to cover yourself.
You pushed Grandma out of that window tonight.
You thought that if he died the box would never be open.
Dorothy couldn't kill me?
You come, I guess I'm serious.
They come by so homes you see with market-blick cars?
What?
They're watching.
I must say, I'm absolutely fascinated by listening to freedom.
You're accusing each other of murder.
them producing perfectly sound motifs. It's a remarkable example of the dangers of reasoning
from motive alone. We should profit by experience what?
Mr. Holmes, how can you be so calm? There's a murderer in this room.
Mr. Simer-Karaz is getting a little out of hand. The small, let's conclude it.
You better come out now.
That's... it's moving.
I've seen you here for your oral grandfather.
To what? Oh, I must see you go.
Oh, to what? You're all right.
What kind of a game have you been playing?
In a funny game that Holmes and I invented.
You might call it forcing the issue.
I was determined to have the box open before the next four years were out.
Whilst there was still a life to look inside it.
But the trickery of your family, Murdoch, has made me a better appermost.
So what are I supposed to pay back the money in a few years?
I swear I will. They're too late to do me any good.
But I'll take care of the day and get to it.
I'll find mine to pass it to you.
Grandfather, the money isn't important now that you're old.
You were counting on it, just the same, my boy.
So that you could marry Dorothy, I know that.
She'll never marry a pauper. I won't allow it.
Fanon, thank you when you passed out, my father.
And I am going to marry Ian.
Be quiet. The water is that very unsavory business.
I think that you owe us an explanation of your behavior tonight.
You tell him Holmes.
I fancy a way to wrap a cleaner dumb butt.
Watching y'all search for my body in the mo...
It's made me...
The explanation is a very simple one, ladies and gentlemen.
When you arrived here tonight, Mr. Murdoch,
I knew from the way you handled the box
that they could not contain the sum of gold, the supposed old.
I'm sure you suspected cold and devised a plan to force the opening
of the box first, and so water was an eco-conspirator.
Of course I was.
Ian is 21 next August.
Supposing I have died after he came of age,
and before my next birthday, four years ends,
the box would never have been opened.
And so we invented the fake ministry,
by the way, Ian,
I must congratulate you for grasping the possibilities
of the situation so speedily.
If you hadn't demanded the opening of the box,
the Murdoch secret might still be a secret.
The cover plan was too bare that it had held such a miserable ending.
I'm not sure if he had finished with the matter.
Mr. Murdoch, yes, Mr. Holmes.
You say that your family took 4,000 pounds from that box?
Yes, Mr. Murdoch.
I would have swung from its size
that it would hold closer to 5,000.
And in your account of a legend watching,
you told me that Thomas Dundar stated on his deathbed
that he had put something else in his room.
Something for the rainy day, is it?
Did the Murdoch find that extra something?
No, Mr. Holmes.
They found the thing that the gold.
Now that's very odd.
I think I'll take a closer look at that box a bit online.
Since this seems to be a night of telling secrets,
I think you might as well know for it.
But if you don't give your consent, I shall end up with you.
Hello, Mr. Murdoch.
Don't start things.
That's my other solution, young lady.
But I hide that people have been necessary.
What do you mean, Holmes?
Convict me to show you all that treasure of a Dundar's.
What are you talking about, Holmes?
The something for a rainy day,
with old Thomas God.
You see, since the cubic contents of the box
obviously differed from my calculations,
I deduced the existence of a false bottom.
I was correct.
And in that space, I found...
This.
Oh, it's a manuscript.
Right, so, the manuscript is a book.
Look at the title page and see the author's name.
This to the Dundar's book.
Well, eh?
That's a...
Scott!
Oh, I wish it was Scott.
I think so, old man.
That's an original and unobvious manuscript
by your distinguished name.
Say, we'll prove with several times the gold
that is missing from that box.
Hey, you'll skip the day for us, Holmes, my boy.
God bless you.
Oh, oh, oh, this has been a stranger new year.
Never I knew.
But it turned out to be a funny one.
Thanks to you, Holmes.
We'll feel a pair of glasses.
We're going to drink a toast to the new year.
Why, Joe, yes to Walter.
This is really a happy occasion.
And let's complete it by thinking
the traditional song of the season.
Old-length time.
And in this case, when we sing
should old acquaintance be forgot,
I feel that in our hearts,
we should be thinking of Walter Scott.
If he died over 60 years ago,
he's made us all very happy tonight.
Well, doctor, that turned out to be a very happy new year for all consumers.
That's one new year for the dollar and never forgets.
Well, I sure hope you'll always remember this one, too.
Oh, this is a second, my boy.
That goes for a glass of porn.
Fine.
A world to a happy new year, my boy, for you.
And for our many friends listening in.
And for you, doctor.
Oh, it works.
A world to a happy new year, my boy, for you.
And for our many friends listening in.
And for you, doctor.
Oh, it works.
Ah, that's good.
Dr. Tezendee has been a pleasant association for me.

Mr. Bartel, I know that you'll always be here to tell us
just how good that Petri wine is.
Well, I hope so, doctor.
And I hope you'll always be right here beside me to tell another swell story about
what we're supposed to look like.
Well, an incidentally, doctor.
What new adventure are you planning to tell me next week?
Next week, Mr. Bartel, I'm going to tell you a weird story.
It starts with a series of murders on Hensford Heath.
And then, with a battle to the death.
In a burning wax work, I call it the strange case of the
murderer in wax.
Tonight, Sherlock Holmes' adventure was written by Dennis Green and Anthony Boucher,
and was suggested by an incident in the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's story, The Silver Blades.
Music is by Dean Posner.
Mr. Rathbone appears through the courtesy of Metalgold and Mayor,
and Mr. Bruce through the courtesy of Universal Pictures,
where they are now starring in the Sherlock Holmes series.
