The Petri family, the family that took time to bring you good wine, invite you to listen to Dr. Watson tell us another exciting story about his good friend, that master detective, Sherlock Holmes. And I'd like to tell you something that's made you already know.
The fact that America's favorite wine is port wine. Did you know that? Well, if you didn't, you'll know why port is the way out front favorite. If you'll just sample some Petri California port. You just look at that Petri port and you know it's good. That wonderful deep-wift red color. And Petri port is so clear. Well, just hold it to the light and you can sort of see right through the glass. But what you really want to know about a wine is how does it taste? I'll tell you something. I've never yet been able to find the adjective that'll do Petri port justice. It's wonderful, honest. You just got to taste it for yourself and find out for yourself. You love that Petri port in the evening at the dinner when you're sitting around listening to the radio. And it's perfect to serve your friends when they come over. Well, you can show that Petri label too. In fact, you can show it probably because the name Petri is the proudest name in the history of American wine. And now I'm sure our old friend Dr. Watson's ready for us.
So let's go in and join. Come in, come in, come in. Good evening, Mr. Baco. Good evening, Dr. Baco. Hello, puppy's being very happy tonight. Tonight, yes, the Q's in the seat of this afternoon. I'd like to go to two more frightening little dogs in the hell of California. What happened, Dr? Well, I took him for a walk on the beach. I think the scrambling round a rocky point, a seal of puppies head up the wall quite close to us. What the puppy's there? Oh, both of them busted at it, seriously. And the seal? Blue or a few bubbles and black right back. You know what the world's speed record is for short-flag dogs? I'm sure they broke it. You know, Dr. I'll have to join you on one of those afternoon strolls of yours. You always seem to be having such exciting adventures. Or, and talking of that, how's about tonight's new Sherlock Holmes attack? I'm already for you, my boy. In fact, I was looking over my notes on the case just before you arrived. This is another story in which Sherlock Holmes is elder brother, Microw. It's a very important part. Microw Holmes was seven years older than Sherlock, and some said it is superior in terms of observation and deduction.
That sounds like aerosy doctor. No, no, no, young fella. Holmes himself is a first to admit it. In fact, if it hadn't been for his incurable laziness, Microw could have been a formidable rival to his younger brother. However, Microw's team held a position of considerable importance at the fire in office, and it was there, but tonight's story begins. The Zimog Winter of 1899, and Microw Holmes after Gomez lunch, with a climbing full length on 11 a.t., his eyes were cold, his hands were folded across his stump, and his breath came rhythmically. The cynic would have declared that Microw Holmes was taking off the lunch and snooze, but Mr. Holmes' secretary had jumped over the name of God. Now, as a realist, he tapped on the door to squeak it. Then he ref-dollied, and still there was no response, so he opened the door and entered. After a moment, he gave what he thought was a discrete car. Microw Holmes opened his eyes, and folded his hands.
How did God know? Must you come in here and darken me so soon after lunch? I'm sorry, Mr. Holmes, but I thought you thought that I was lying down with my eyes closed, and I must be bored, and so you came galloping in. Oh, well, what do you want? There's no radio outside, sir. She insists on something you personally. I've tried to get rid of her, but what's her name? Mrs. Hudson, sir. Mrs. Hudson? Show her in, Godness. Show her in. Very good, sir. Undoubtedly, a message from young Michelle. How are you, Mrs. Hudson? Good day, Mr. Holmes. I'm sorry to interrupt you, but I want to cut much of your time. Sit down, won't you? Don't leave us, Godness. I made need you in a few minutes. Very good, sir. Now, Mrs. Hudson, what's the message? Message, sir? My brother stands you with some messages he was afraid to entrust the ordinary channels. He's always so confounded and dramatic. Oh, very sure of heart. I've come to you with a little problem of my own.
I didn't like to bother Mr. Schellick Holmes with it. He's been so busy lately and he's looking very tired. So you came to me, I'm just mindful. I thought you wouldn't mind, sir. You've always been so nice and friendly to me. Pure laziness. It is less effort to keep an open than to make a new enemy. But tell me your problem. Well, it's really my sister's problem, sir. She keeps a boarding house at 14 Cancunton Gardens Square in Beesport, and she's convinced one of her borders, a man who has a room on the first floor deck. She's convinced that he's a bourbon. And what's in heaven's name is a bird, man? Do you know, Gardner? No, sir. It can't imagine. Oh, it's like a bourbon gentleman. It's sick that the man turns into a bird. Oh, come now, Mrs. Hudson. Oh, I know it sounds deaf, but my sister's in a dreadful state. Of course, I've been with your brother long enough to know that such things are nonsense. But how can a thing better happen? What reason did you ask Mr. Giff for holding her strange belief?
She keeps finding pigeon feathers in the room. Now the man is an ekept pigeon, sir. My sister knows that for a fight. Has she found any traces of scattered food on the windowleg? No, sir. No signs of any pigeons except feathers. My sister's a wee bit famous, sir, Holmes. She's the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, and you know what that means. It's the same. She's not an imaginative, sir. She sure needs a feather herself. Where were they, Mrs. Hudson? Somewhere in the floor, but they needed a bed, sir. I brought some along with me. Yes, sir. And we found some more than the gentleman's cover, but he keeps his clothes. I, George, I wonder what is it, sir? I'll tell you in a moment, God, Mrs. Hudson. This matter will require a little private investigation. May I return your sister and tell her not to worry. I shall get in touch with you as soon as mine quiet as completed. Good day to you. Good day, sir, and you're very much obliged to me. Well, God, man, what do you make of it? At all wives' tales, sir. You're not treating it serious. They are you?
Yes, I am. One of these feathers shows evidence of having had string tightened around it. That suggests a captive bird. Now, a captive bird smuggled into an obscure boarding house who points to something of the greatest importance to us, God. By George, do you mean Teddy of pigeons? Exactly. And remember that we are at war, under the boars of a tain several importance and highly confidential seats are lately. We know there's a leak somewhere. This requires an active investigator who can work with discretion. Now, I could work with discretion, but I don't feel too active at the moment. Ah, I have it. I would just write this letter to my brother. This guy's your hand, he was playing, cheap, note paper, and don't sign the letter. He won't be able to resist that combination. Are you ready, God? Yes, very well then. My dear Mr. Sherlock Holmes, we know of your proposed investigation of the tenant and the first floor back at 14 Kensington Garden Square. We warn you, as you value your life, keep away from me.
We warn you, as you value your life. To keep away from the case. Now, that my dear Watson is why we are driving towards 14 Kensington Garden Square, disguised as building inspectors of the London County Council. Well, I must say it's about a challenging letter, Holmes. Unsigned, I know. We're written on cheap note paper, and in a disguised hand, no clue where I'm afraid. Well, we're entering the square, Holmes. Yeah, stop the cap here. You can drop us here, capy. I'll walk you off, capy. It's seen everything clung to us in these costumes, just to arrive in a cab. Here, in search further. Here, on capy. Yes, thank you, Governor. The opposing Mr. Stereo's tenant and the first floor back should be in his room when we get there. I mean, Mr. Hook, about his guys, is it convincing? I'm going to keep out with you about this. Now, this may be a trap. Yes, just what I was going to say, I'll throw you. Never heard of 14 Kensington Gardens, when you received an unsigned letter two hours ago, wanting you to keep away from it. I don't like the look of it. There we are, number 14.
I suggest that you let me do most of the talking. Good Lord, he has my company, accent, and I'm in favor of you. Who do you want to say? We're from the London County Council. We are. We've had complaints about a leaky gas jet in the first floor back. Oh, that's Mr. Greensroom, we ain't out. Well, don't matter, my dear, we'll go out and take a look. Come on, birdie. Right, you are, Alfred. Let me just show you the way. The Mrs. Ratshon. No, thanks, dear. You're very conky. Oh, can we, birdie? No, of course we can. You can laugh, you can laugh. Come on, birdie. I do not have a baby side to see side there. I do not have a baby side to see. Yeah. Do you want to pump, pump, pump, pump, pump, pump, pump, pump? No, that's not a birdie, honey. Yes, self, no, that's a good baby side. I do not have a baby side to see side there. I do not have a baby side to see side there. I do not have a baby side to see side there. Here, this full back. That makes sure the bloke ain't down.
I do not have a baby side to see side there. No, no, no. Hey, don't, Alfie. No, I will not let's go in. Well, this is the mysterious one, eh? Well, it looks pretty ordinary, doesn't it? Yes. First an example of the sculler reporting house five. Hello. What's this on the bedspread? Hello, Mr. Caladon. Hello. He's a pigeon status old chap. Little keb Watson. Attached to the bed rail. No, that's only piece of string. Yes, but this full metal ring on the end. The ring, such as his used, the place around a home pigeon's leg. Why should someone keep carrying pigeons and obscure boring house like this? Why, deep, why, deep? The answer could be that the tenet of this rum is engaged in some sinister activity that acquires the use of carry pigeons and sending messengers to the mountains to the birds being kept here. That's too awful, that's true. Now, possibly the owner of this rum is given to... He's given a pigeon by one of his superior's, but he's had here a fix this his message, and releases the bird. Why could he just take the message to where they keep the birds? Well, in that way he would run the risk of being picked up
with the injured listening criminating messages on it. What kind of sculls are they involved in? The use of carry pigeons is birth. Where the war with the boys in South Africa wasn't. What could be more logical than that a spy in their page would be using this method to smuggle important information out of the country like, to give you a sense I wouldn't mind. Shh! Stop it, cut! Stop it! Who are you? What the devil do you think you're doing in my room? Oh, my name's St. Liminard. Come here to look at your guest parts. Don't lie to me. Who are you? It's not all so I can't live my name. St. Liminard comes from the Lundy Calcats. Very well then. You won't tell me the truth perhaps this revolver will make you change your mind. How much do you can't live without a man? What's that? What's the matter? What's the matter? Home is where were you? I slipped behind the doors. There's just one open there. Your overcrowded coat seems extraordinarily well filled with chest. Mid-man, I'll slip it off. It's a bit warm in here. Let me roll. So we, you were right homes? You had a pigeon under his coat? Yes, he didn't catch the bird, but he was. Come on, come on, come on, come on, Ruffalo. Come along, see.
There he comes, that's it. Look at the little fella. Snuggled up on my arm. And the little fella is me. Yes, I took out Watson, the gentleman's revolver. Yeah, we're not getting up. We're not getting up. Oh! A beautiful apocard home. I'm a... And I've had you'll be unable to talk to us sometime. How fortunate he told us where the mess was hidden before we indulged in this, if we said to him. What do you mean? Is there anything about a message? No, not verbally. And I was watching his reflection in the mirror as he entered the room. In his eyes first, glanced at this top door on the dresser gear to see if we touched it. It was obvious that it was an important spot in the room. Let's see. Here we are. A message already rolled up and in its container. Oh, what does it say, I found? It's in code. I'm just not surprised. I don't think it will be very difficult to decipher. Yes, and when you've done that? Then my dear fellow, I shall compose a code message of my own and persuade this pigeon to lead us to its master.
I can see from your personal expression, Watson, that you are one drink why I brought you to the Dixeter's musical in the Etro Road. Well, I must confess I'm a good fool. First of all, we go to Baker Street and you spend hours pouring over some of your book. And you write out a message to catch it to a pigeon-lettered loose. Now you bring me here. I hate to question you when you're working. But I think, Dad, who give me some idea of what's going on? At times I'm seeing confusion in this series. I'm sure. Here's the situation. The obscure book I've been studying was a table of cypress. I was trying to decode the message we found in the room on the first block back. So obviously you've seen it or we wouldn't be here. Yes, the key word was Louis Boeter, the name of the Boer leader. The message was that a port on the number of troops now entraining it all to shot. Then you were right. And the mixed up of the ring of... Your path to pharmacy can be closer than you think. West Coast University's hybrid doctor pharmacy program can be completed in as little as 33 months.

WCU cannot guarantee employment. And imagine... Obviously, O-Chab. So I kept the original message and composed another using the same code and dispatched it by Kariya Pigeon. Well, what did you say in your message? Meet me at tonight's eight-plot total number three of Dexter's musical. What made you choose this place as a rendezvous? Well, I happen to know that it's a common meeting place for all the world characters. And which is table number three? I'm one over there in the corner. I reserved it. Then why don't we go and sit down there and set a standing at here back? I thought you'd give our visitor the opportunity of showing his hand first. You won't be expecting Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watts's night hand.
Good Lord, look at this woman coming under thing. You ever see so many photos? No, no, no. Whoever follows him, he's in the way of his choice. Now we just decided to get him to pay him a million pounds. Oh, look up. A man just sitting down at table number three. What's with it? Knock it. It's a triple. It's a triple-routine. The dangerous criminal who once lived for the money out the gang. We caught a price pigeon, wasn't? Did I have you at all by any old chap? Undoubtedly, you recognize the price. Come on, then. Oh, Maggie. Oh, Maggie. Oh, the studies knock me low. So thanks for having me. Good morning. Go and get ready for Maggie. And so, guys, you're able to keep your appointment, sir. Sherlock Holmes. It's a trap. I don't try to quick start on our Ebola, here, sis. How do you like this time of in your face? Oh, what? Did it suit him? Did you?
No, no. He knocked my hand and rolled the wide open. The chopper's well excited. Yes, sir. Look at the wound. There are no powder burns. It's not for spard from some distance. Holmes, Holmes is dead. Out of the way, please. Now, they're what's going on here. I'm comfortable. This man is in shoes. Yes, but it's easy to see you. Well, I didn't pick up the philosophy of thinking. And why are you standing here with a smoking revolver in your hands? Come on, you. You're under arrest. You're under arrest now. And what's going on? This is the Sherlock Holmes. I don't care if you're the king of Siam and the Bishop of London himself. You're under arrest. And I'm taking you both the Scotland Yard. You tell the rest of Dr. Watson's story in just a second. And if you don't mind, I'll take that second to say just one word to the ladies. And that word is muskete... Petri, California muskete...
I want you women to know about it because petri musketeil is one line that practically every woman likes. Maybe because it's such a beautiful color. Like, well, like pale gold. But I guess really, because petri musketeil brings you the wonderful flavor of luscious, sun-ripened musketeil. And that's a flavor. Try petri musketeil after dinner or any time as a change from petri port. Have a bottle of each on hand. When you buy petri wine, don't buy one by two. Remember, if it's a petri wine, you know it's a good one. Dr. Watson, that was really one for the books. So you got yourself arrested on a murder charge. Yes, it's about to. I was taken off the Scotland yard in the Black Mara. Looks like any common criminal who makes it comfortable wouldn't listen to words that I've got to say. Well, sure, I combed on with you, of course. Oh, that's right. We arrived at Scotland yard. My multiplication was complete. And I found that I was led into the presence of our own friend in spectacular start.
Home spoke to him at some length, but I could see from a start expression. My position was very slow. Now I can see what it is, Mr. Holmes. You see, I know you're both. Well, I must say there are lots of them here at the yard. They're just like what they call your eye and its method. But let's talk. Personal likes or dislikes have nothing to do with it. No, of course I haven't. You're a man of evidence. Well, I know. That's Dr. Watson. And the council of evidence was as clear as the nose on your face. The dead man was shot through the edge and you were standing in front of the body with a drawn revolver. But my deal is not that there are no powder burns on the wound. Yeah, that's what you tell me, Mr. Holmes. But I'll have to wait for the official report on that. The police surgeon's examining the body now. You understand, gentlemen? I'm not saying I'm sorry that the sea of Trinball is dead. He's been a thorn in our side for a good many years. In Fleta, oh, is the police surgeon now? The doctor index?
This is Mr. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. How do you do? I do. I'm a great admirer of you both. I'm sorry to see you in such a very unfortunate life. Thank you. Thank you, Dr. Watson. What were your findings, Dr. Hendrix? Well, I just extracted the bullet, the strad and I'm very much afraid it's the same-making caliber. The one missing from Dr. Watson's revolver. Yes, it doesn't prove that I fired the paper shot. The 45th Colt's a very common weapon, Dr. Watson. It proves nothing. And Dr. Hendrix, as I was just saying to Inspector the Star before you came in the only fact, that show my friend, Guteen, would be powder burns on the wound, thereby giving... ...footing the bullet had been found from close range. I entirely agree with you, Mr. Holmes. Then as there were no powder burns. Oh, no. But there are powder burns, Mr. Holmes. One? Very distinct ones, too. Lord, I... I just don't understand. Oh, I'm sorry, gentlemen. The bear of bad tidings, but I have my duties to perform. Yes, and I'm sorry to, Dr. Watson. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to let you leave here.
Of course, you must consider yourself under arrest. Holmes, I never thought more than stompers in my life. Not your approach, eh? Well, come on. I've kept up in the prisoner's self. It's the time I did enough of the yellows. Don't worry, Watson, you'll be under care before the night is over. I promise you that. I promise you that. I promise you that. I promise you that. How do you propose to do it all with the aid of a little heart, thinking, thinking? Well done, a lock in a cell, doors, thinking. Well, hello, hello. It's not just someone's deliberately trying to incriminate us. It's trying to reconstruct feeling logically. It's from what was a member of an espionage ring. I sent him a false message. After he'd left, he'd point at his colleagues, trailed him to the musical, and killed him, but for he could be. The tray, anything to pass. Yes. Yes, that's undoubtedly the way it happened. The powder burns homes. How do you cut for them?
The manun just after the shop was fired, we know that. And yet Dr. Hendrix assures us that I better distinct powder burns now. May we come in, gentlemen? Yes, of course you can, Dr. Hendrix. Hello, hello, Scott. Yes, I thought we'd come and check for you, Dr.. It's very nice of you, gentlemen. Yeah, not a bit of it, Dr.. Very, it hurts me to see you in here, and that's a fact. And I can't see a fellow medical in such flight. I was coming in to see what I can do to help once. Yeah. You're very quiet, Mr. Amal's daughter's thinking. You see, what's the check? Have it. Have what? The answer. You were sleeping in Vegas tonight, I'd draw. Mr. Amal, what are you talking about? A murder of Sid Thumbel. Incriminating powder burns were obviously faked once in a night. I know that. Well, the human Dr. Hendrix believe it or not. The question is, how were they faked? I think they had the answer. And Dr. Hendrix? Yes, Mr. Amal. If a bank conscience were fired at the wound after death,
it would produce powder burns, wouldn't it? Undoubtedly. Yes, who could have done that, Mr. Amal? Ah, that's the point to stride. Who had the opportunity? The constable who brought the body here. So, oh, gentlemen. Also, you've got Dr. Hendrix. That's perfectly true. Yeah. Well, I had the opportunity to, Mr. Amal. I spend off and out in the morgue, and known with the body when he first came in. Well, you've narrowed it down to three suspects home. I hope I don't hang before you find the real killer. I find him often. Why, you've been on the hunt? The answer is simple to start. The powder burns was certainly faked by bank cartridge. Now, if a bank cartridge fired into a wound, the wound would have penetrated and distorted the wound. Yes, but suppose in the person it will lose the wound from the blank mist realms. It's a fact that still be quite a pattern to the police surgeon who will remove the bullet. Am I correct, Dr. Hendrix? And darling. Certainly, the surgeon could not fail to identify the marksman. Exactly. And that only one person could have fired that blank cartridge without detection, the same person who made the decision necessary to remove the cartridge would also remove all traces of the shot.
You yourself, Dr. Hendrix. You homes are, I believe you're right. At the NG theory homes, surely you're joking. Am I? And how do you account for the things that are better than the color of your coat? I'm not. So, double with you. Yeah, yeah, come back here. Stop it. I got him, Stimul. No, Dr. Hendrix. Get away from me. I'm off it. God, Scott and Yard itself harboring an enemy agent. On my soul, you've done it again. And I say you've got sharp eyes. I didn't see those pigeon feathers on Hendrix color. Yeah, a confidentiality idea, but I neither did I. But Hendrix guilty conscience knew they might be there. It was a shot in the dark and I had to take it. If you would spend the night in a prison cell, I should never have held the end of it, I'm sure. Never. I want to see Mr. Micah's forms, please. The four Mrs. Hudson, he's expecting you.
Thank you. Oh, there you are, Mrs. Hudson. Come and sit down. Well, thank you, sir. I got your message to him over right away. In the first station, Hudson, you may tell your sister that she didn't want any more. I'm sure she'll find no more pigeon feathers in her room on the first floor there. No, sir. Thank you. But she knows the fact that because the burden has left her yesterday, she's good. Some strange name came into the movie. And today, she's led the room to a nice young commercial traveler. I'm really sure it's your father, you would for trouble, sir. I'm very glad you did, Mrs. Hudson. Thanks to your information, an enemy has been asked, ring has been broken. And the British government is deeply grateful to you. You're always one for a joke, aren't you, Mr. Holmes? Well, I'm glad you're not tingly with me. I'll be going now, sir. Just one more fever, I'll ask before I go through. Anything, Mrs. Hudson, what is it? Please don't tell your brother about this, sir. He'll be sure I'll be with me for wasting your time.
Well, Dr. that was really a swell story tonight. Although it was a bit unexpected for you to have been arrested. Yes, indeed. Mr. Butler, when you were just ticked to, like Holmes or a doctor like myself, were you going to be prepared to meet the unexpected every once in a while? I suppose so. Of course, you wouldn't know about things like that being a wine expert. Oh, now wait a minute, doctor. And the way you talk, you think I spent every waking moment in a nice cool wine seller, tasting wine for morning till night. Don't you? I'm not a wine expert, then you are. Oh, I know about wine, is it? You need to take good or it doesn't. And I know that Petri wine does taste good. And that's because the Petri family took time to get the wine. And I know that Petri wine does taste good. And that's because the Petri family took time to make good wine, generations of time. By the Petri family's been making wine ever since they started the Petri business way back in the 1800s.
And since the business has always been family-owned and operated, they've been able to hand on down from father to son, from father to son, all they've ever learned about the fine art of turning luscious sunrhype and grapes into fragrant, delicious wine. And they've learned plenty. And that's because you can't have a good wine, you want, or any occasion. You can't go wrong with a Petri wine because Petri took time to bring you good wine. Well, Dr. Watson, what story do you have lined up for us next week? Well, next week with Tabartelle, I'm going to tell you a weird adventure that shot Holmes and I had an East End of London. It concerns the most unusual stage play, a bad frightened actor, and a blood-stained razor. I call it the strange case of the demon father.
Tonight Sherlock Holmes' adventure was written by Dennis Green and Anthony Boucher and was suggested by an incident in the South Arthur Conan Doyle story, The Greek Interpreter. Music is by Dean Fossler. Mr. Rathborn appears through the courtesy of Metro Goldwood Mayor and Mr. Bruce through the courtesy of Universal Pictures, by the Anile Starling in the Sherlock Holmes series. The Petri wine company of San Francisco California invites you to tune in again next week, same time, same station. Sherlock Holmes comes to you, Marholiwood Studio. This is Harry Bartell saying that night for the Petri family. For a solid hour of exciting mystery dramas, listen every Monday on most of these same stations at 8 o'clock to Michael Shane, followed immediately by Sherlock Holmes. This is the mutual broadcasting system. Your path to pharmacy can be closer than you think. Whiskers University's hybrid doctor pharmacy program can be completed in its littleest 33 months
