6:09Why is it the numbers of through the roof? Like on our streaming? If Fred, like you, you saw the numbers should be like, good Lord. That many people are watching the trial. To be honest with you, I have no idea why people are this interested in that trial. I have like literally no idea. I didn't care about the one in Canton, but I did understand why that was, it was like that community, like the, you know, the, if the lady in the relationship people have had and they all grew up together, like I get like how that resonated with people. How old is that, right? Right. Like, and I understand how that resonated with people. Like at the time people thought she was good looking of the crime. It did that, that went away quickly. But the, I got that this I don't understand. I don't know why people want to hear about it. I just feel bad. It's very, very awful. Yeah, it's like a horrific thing, like a truly, truly horrific thing that happened. And like I, and she did it. So like I don't really know, I guess so it's the bitch about postpartum depression, which I understand fine.

7:10Like maybe it's not being looked upon. But I don't know if this is the place to be, I don't know if this is the place to like whatever man, whatever you got to, like I don't know. I don't get it either. It's horrible. I don't, I haven't been following any of it. I just had a, females are very into this. And I had a female tell me about like the husband. And she doesn't think the husband did it. But the husband is almost strangely callous, which is why this woman is interested in the trial is, is not, if she is wanting to know really about what happened with the, the murders and everything in the suicide attempt, she wants to hear about how the husband before and after this has just been kind of living his life. That's the, that's the thing. Did Jerry being deadlock is a thing that mystifies everybody? And if they continue to be deadlock, doesn't that result in a mistrial? I think the judge has to go through each juror and talk to them or something. Yeah, it's a strange truth. So that's the truly mystifying thing with all of this. Ask our Christina Rex. Like if you're on the first baseline and someone yanks a foul ball at, yeah, like I understand that completely. Like that's just something. Let's try to work it so that maybe our friends at the Red Sox can put us in a couple monster seats. I like that for a game and you'll realize it. I have a, I've only sat on the monster seats once. Have you ever been playing golf and like you, you're playing with like two other people and you go up to like your ball and then the guy hits in the hits the ball, like right at you. Yeah. You can get out of the way of that, can't you? Yeah. Okay. That's all I'm saying. I didn't say you could catch it. I just said you can get out of the way of it. Like I don't think you need a glove to protect yourself. You get it with you. You got it, you know, if they're young or whatever, you got to protect them too. I just don't understand how the, look why the glove is necessary for that. This could help you. Oh, please. Like your kid needs your protection from the ball at the green monster.

21:34Christopher Price, our good friend, writes about the Patriots for the Boston Globe. Christopher, thank you for joining us, sir. Good morning, Fred. How you doing, buddy? Good. I appreciate it as always, you joining us. Is that true to the players? So pick the captains? Is that what's happening? It has been true in the past. And I will say this, it reminded me of a funny story from I think 2004 or 2005, where players were voting on captains under Bill Belichek and someone was named a captain, saying they announced the captains and a bunch of players were together in the locker room. And they said, I didn't vote for that guy. Did you vote for that? I didn't vote for that guy. So I know that Bill had an influence, let's just say, on choosing the captains when he was here, I will say this. It also over the course of Rebels coaching career, there's been no sort of nefarious activity when it comes to naming captain. So I'm willing to give him the benefit of this one, but there is a track record there where coaches can kind of manipulate it.

22:36Okay, so yesterday there was a guy from the Eagles that came out with something that the Patriots used to do with Belichek when teams were lining up for a field goal opposing teams. And they were kicking towards the scoreboard. They would flip an image of what was going on in the field. And so on the big board behind the field goal where the kicker was kicking, the post of the field goal on the field goal post on the screen, offset, like from where they were on the field. They asked her any Adams about it and he's like, well, we're still in people's heads. It's just actively cheating. I mean. What did you make of that whole thing? There are teams around the league that do things like that. They're not going to try and, you know, what was it? If you're shooting a free throw in basketball, people would put stuff up and wait. You know, they're not going to go as far as to really kind of make it obvious, but a lot of teams around the league will post stuff on video boards to try and get some sort

23:39of, try and give the kicker some sort of distraction. It's not, again, it's not a big thing, but it's just one of those little minor things that the teams try and do to try and get an edge. But it is. It just kind of adds to the bellicic or any Adams legend, I guess. So was the whole thing just like gaining the system? Like if you came to bellicic with some idea where you could skirt rules. Yeah. Well, if the rule isn't specifically spelled out, you know, they would try and find something like that to try and gain a little bit of an edge. And I think that's one of those cases where, you know, they would try and find some way to distract the kicker. And we saw it. I think it was the 2011 AFC championship game with Billy Cundipory, Mr. 31 Yard at the end. It's just little, little picking stuff like that to try and get an edge. Don't you picture like 15 interns sitting in a room and just going over every rule, everything in the playbook, anything that they could find to present the bellicic, say, look, we think we're out of a loophole. So here's my guess of what was going on. This is just what's in my mind is that bellicic is in his office.

24:41He's a huge dick. And you sit around and then you come up with something and you're like, wait a second. I think that I found a way to cheat. And then you go into his office and like, no, no, no, Bill, we have a way to cheat. And he goes, he should die, Coke and like, like, obviously, and then he's like, oh, sit down, sit down. How you doing? Ah, cheating. That word. No, but for that word, we'd never be used in that office. That's the thing. Bill. He's sitting on me all at a little time. Like, really, it's worked. And what was that's going on is what are the coping continued What do you guys? I got, Chris, do you think we'll finally get Christian Gonzalez news anytime this week?

25:45Do you think it'll finally get time? Yeah, I think, yeah, I've been a big, I've been a big believer, Dan and I know we've talked about this before down there in Foxboro that something is going to get done before week one for a number of reasons. It's not the least of which this defense is constructed with Christian Gonzalez in mind. And so there is a priority. Obviously he's one of the best cornerbacks in the league, if not the best cornerback in the league. There's really little to no pass rush. And so you have to kind of offset the fact that you have little to no pass rush with an improved, improved level of play on the back end in Christian Gonzalez is one of those guys who can do that for you. The other thing too is that you're facing a situation. I don't think Gonzalez is going to negotiate once the year starts. I don't think he's going to negotiate once the season starts. And I don't blame him for that. You're facing an offseason next year that means where you're going to have to address or theoretically address Drake May, AJ Brown and Christian Gonzalez all in one off season, which I think is just going to be way too much for them to consider. So I think ultimately cooler heads are going to prevail. It really going to understand that each side needs each other. I think the Patriots need Gonzalez more than Gonzalez needs the Patriots, but he wants

26:48to be around. So yeah, something's going to get done. I still believe something's going to happen between now and next Wednesday. Okay. If that doesn't happen, how do you think that affects the season for Christian Gonzalez? I think it's going to be a thing hanging over. The thing you're hanging over him, the entire season. I believe he is a true professional. I think he is all about his business. I was still surprised that we heard Coach flight on the radio the other day because I know Gondzo keeps his inner circle very, very tight. And so I have to imagine that he was not happy that, you know, that information leaked out. But I think he is going to approach this year as a professional. And I think he's going to play and I think he's going to try and play in 17 games because he knows he has something on the line going into this next off season. So I think he is going to play as well as he can play. There could be situations if he gets his nose out of joint where there's going to be a soft tissue problem, a hamstring problem, whatever the case may be. But I think we're looking at a situation where a guy in my experience is going to give everything that he had going into this season. Okay. So you say you imagine Gonzalez wasn't happy about him coming on the radio, but he had

27:52been tweeting. And that's how I believe they found him. Yeah. Do you think that maybe he got before he went on the radio, he asked and they were like, you might as well, like go out and get our point across a little bit. Or you think that he just did it on his own and that was all in that way. He has to face the consequences because he works with a lot of professional players is the only thing. And I would imagine that he's not naive enough to like hurt his business by just spouting off about something without permission. That's my take on it. No, but there are guys and situations like this who enjoy the spotlight, maybe at the expense of getting a chance to work with a guy like Christian Gonzalez that now, you know, we all know who Coach flight is because he came on the radio and talked about Christian Gonzalez. The one thing that I do know about the Gonzalez camp again, he keeps his inner circle locked down. And so to have someone like that come on the radio and talk like that is really out of character for the people who are in his camp.

28:52And so I think that I don't want to say he was overstating his role. Maybe that's that's one of those, you could be one of those cases. But look, all I know is I would have loved to have seen or seen the text or heard the conversation that went on between Christian, Gonzalez and Coach flight and the wake of what happened. Sounds like Christopher might know something. Now Christopher, you, the globe is done their predictions. Yes. For the season. Yes. And you do not like you're doing when Patriots, you do not believe in the AFC East either. I don't believe in the AFC East. No, I, I think that there's a road to 10 wins. I believe that they can dominate the AFC East. And when I say that, I mean, go five and one or six and oh, but ultimately the depth questions that they have are a question of whether or not they're going to get to the AFC, you know, championship game or maybe lose in the divisional round or, you know, get as far as the wild card game or whatever the case may be. I have them going ten and seven. Okay. Cause Finn has them not surprisingly going 12 and five and playing in the Super Bowl.

29:54Yeah. I don't think that's feasible at this point. I think that that again, depth, they got incredibly good. They got a tremendous amount of good fortune last year when it came to health, when it came to schedule and that has to be brought up in this conversation. You have to be good to get to the Super Bowl. You have your 14 and three. They were an excellent team. Everything broke right for them. I don't know if that's sustainable going into a new year. That's why I had them at 10 and seven. And that's the tremendous challenge that this team has. That's what Vrable throws right at them, right? If I'm Vrable, I'm looking at all these predictions and everything else. It's, it's to me. It's as simple as health. That's it, right? Yeah. Before the season, you say, okay, if they can get this guy, this guy, this guy, keep him healthy, then they have a really good chance to be a really very good team. If they don't and they have those breaks and bad luck and what have you, then that's the difference in going 12 and 5 or 13 and it's just the beginning of the season. You know, it is a very difficult thread. But if they can get through that, well, no, if they get through the first four games, they help in their three and one or four and all.

30:55Yeah. I mean, then the seasons of a big situation, but if they, if they, they could go one, three to start the season, even better though. Chris, he, Mike Vrable can hold your prediction up to the team and go, see, they don't believe in you in you. Look at this. He could, right here, the moment, waiting the AFC East would be a real, real nag for them. I mean, Christopher, you, that's, that's pulled to poor material. Witting the AFC East. Well, I also had, I, I have to mention here that I initially predicted that they would win five games last year and I had to be talked into seven. So you take that with a grain of, you take my prediction this year with a grain of salt. Look, I, I think 10 and seven is a reasonable level of expectation for the team, maybe 11 and six if they stay healthy and everything breaks right. And, and again, that's enough to get back to the post season. And then once you get to the playoffs, who knows from there? There are not many things I hate in the world, Fred, is, I hate predictions. Oh, good. I predict that you fall off a building today.

They also had like a guitar hero kind of a thing where you could play guitar. They had a couple of movies, but it was really cool. It was a good time. All right. There you go. It wasn't a bad ride at all. But point is it's not in Cleveland. Yeah. If you're spending the weekend in Cleveland, I don't think a lot of people are driving the can. Why not? It's an easy ride. I had an opportunity to go. I didn't go. No. No. No. Was it was it magical like Cooper's town? No, no, no, no. It's nice. It's not. It's not the Cooper's town village. Right. It's a dumb canton, right? Canton, I was a good dumb. It's not a dumb. It's making a like Patriot place a little bit around the Hall of Fame now. Oh, well, if the NFL could only somehow get to the Patriot place type of. It's only been how many years the place has been open. And by the way, if Patriot place is the barometer for a whole city, oh boy. They might build a they might build a strip mall. It's pretty exciting. They get in a six string girl too. Yeah, that's going to be all kinds of novelty restaurants and everything.

35:02No savings will vary. Like you fret, I'm not worried. Cheeky you talked to Jalen Hertz. John, what happened during? She's kind of bizarre. I mean, it's a longer interview. We have two long clips from it, but it just kind of highlights how strange a guy Jalen Hertz is. Obviously, AJ Brown's playing his first game for the Patriots next Wednesday, but the big story is the separation between Brown and Jalen Hertz. And Hertz agreed to sit down and interview with GQ. And obviously he knew he was going to be asked about this. And then when asked about it, kind of made like he didn't want to deal with it at all. It's weird. What happened there from your perspective? And by the way, there are long pauses. We left them in just to kind of highlight this all part of a big interview.

36:05Yes, it's part of a bigger interview, which has video content for GQ, but I left these two or three second pauses in or nick did because it just kind of kind of highlights how strange all of this is as far as what? As far as him ultimately wanting to be traded and want to leave the team because it seems like that's what happened. Pause, pause, pause. It's a game where we've all got to have a shared mission. We all got to be in pursuit of the collective. And that's not something I could speak on from his bath. But I can tell you, my focus has always been to the part. Chris, who? Deleition. Hold on. That's the problem with those kinds of pauses that you're leaving yourself open for to be broke. Let's go back. Let's go back. I did not catch that the first time. Let's see here. What do we got? Um, but I can tell you, my focus has always been.

37:08What was that? I think that was a great gurgle in the throat. I don't think that was a fart. I was thinking go back play together. You're so, you're so quick to say that that it wasn't a fart. Well, let's go back. We'll play it again. I mean, there's a lot of you. Let's see. Focus has always been. Yeah, no, that's not a, you can say with a hundred percent certainty that's not far far. 95, yeah, because it's not gaseous. It's very like a creakish rattling. All right. One more time and then we'll stop. One more time. Let's see here. There's always been. No. I will admit, I did not hear that the first time I listened to you. Yeah, you don't have the ears like I do. You only have one ear. Oh, damn, I dare you. It's massively insensitive. Sorry. You had a big growth pulled off his brain. Yeah. He's, he's, and you're making light of it. His body is, that helps roll with it. He failed him in many, many ways. My Lord, Dan, not all of us are perfectly healthy like you are from looks to function.

38:10He's been screwed in every way, shape, or form. All right. Go ahead. So, it, Jalen hurts. I think we can all agree is that, you know, we need to have the shared vision. I can't speak on his behalf. The whole thing is very strange. He agreed to the interview. And then when pressed about all of this, this answer is kind of strange too. Come on. I think, you know, the reality of the scrutiny that, you know, we get it. It's, you know, it's what we gave him. So there's, there's a practical approach that I see. It comes with the territory of it. What do you mean? Came with the territory of being in that light in the beginning. So telling that story of a friendship, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was a great, yeah. And then it's like if you guys aren't as close all of a sudden everybody's like, Hey, but you guys were talking about it or whatever, that's what you mean. Yeah, there's no surprise that it was talked about. Yeah. What? Yeah. Exactly. I don't understand what the interviewer is saying or what he's saying. I think about their relationship. The interviewer is trying to lead Jalen Hertz back to the original question, which was what

39:15happened between you guys? And then Jalen Hertz was like, well, you know, we only received what we gave them, meaning I guess what the relationship looked on the outside. People reacted to that. Either way, can we all agree that this is a very strange answer to a pretty much a straightforward question? Well, he's not talking like a human being. Exactly. And that's the other part of this. He's acting like an AI trying to learn English for the first time. Well, it felt like when they took away the book. It was like, you know, I mean, it was just like, are you guys friends? Did you like playing with each other? It was like, none of that stuff. It was just more, well, I don't want to talk about it. And then it was just, you know, the last day, the final end of practice round went down and then they talked and hugged it out or whatever. So it was just like bizarre. So at the end, I didn't know that. So at the end of the joint practices, A.J. Down, the lower field where the Eagles were, and they talked. Okay. So they did that in front of everyone. Yeah, I mean, you could see them. All of us were interviewing, having Drake or, you know, and other people.

40:18I had not heard that. And then you saw them in brace. It was, yeah, if there's a video out of it. Okay. But this interview happened after that. So you would think that he would be very relaxed about this and he wasn't. Well, that's the thing is that if I was interviewing someone, like say I was a detective and I was interviewing someone in a homicide case and they were talking like that. I'd be like, they did it. Yes. Exactly. Like all talking like that does is make it sound like something terrible happened. And you can't obviously see it. We're on the radio. But if you look at his facial expressions, he's pissed off that he has to deal with this. Well, yeah. Well, I don't, why don't you sit down for an interview? Exactly. I don't understand any of this at all. And it doesn't make Jalen Hartz look good, which is I imagine essentially why he wanted to do the interview in the first place. Because I'm watching a lot of body cam video and with that comes the interrogation room where they have the camera on top. And so I funnel everything through with the way that I would look at a suspect.

41:23And you can almost tell when they're being very forthright and they're going like, whatever, I don't, or like, you know, in their talking, you almost can tell. First of all, it's not always wise without a lawyer. When they're just like, you know, insistent that on their innocence and like, they're just like, whatever, take it. You're like, okay, when they're cagey and certainly less cagey than that, you're like, what are you hiding? Like that's all that talking does is make you think, what is Jalen Hartz hiding? Like why is it so difficult for him to, like, look, you sat down for an interview. They asked the question, I mean, you have every right to go, hey, man, I'm sick of talking about that. Which is what AJ Brown did. Yeah, I'm just sick of talking about it at this point. Fine. Like, it not the greatest answer. But I mean, if you just went, the only thing that people, John saying it like this, like, yeah, the only thing people saw was how the media portrayed it. We didn't really want to get it out there. We handled it between the two of us.

42:24And, you know, he's on the, he's in the AFC and I'm in the NFC. And I wish him well, right? Yeah. Or you don't even have to say you wish him well. But you just say like, you know, and so that's, I'm, he's not really someone that I deal with anymore. Like, you can say that, I mean, just anything. But like, that was just such a posy, difficult way of answering it. And in the act like you were hit over the head with it, I mean, even if his people said, don't ask him about this, there's no way you're going to agree to that. So, you know, kind of deal with that. Why else would you talk to Jalen Hartz? Seriously. I mean, I mean, I don't think he's going to agree to that point. He's, his team isn't a favorite to go to the Super Bowl. He's just a quarterback on another team that used to be better than he is. Of course you have to ask him about AJ Brown. That's part of the story that makes him interesting. Otherwise he's not interesting at all. So I don't understand A, why he hurts agreed to this.

43:24And B, when he sat down, why he was so pissed off by it. Yeah, I agree. I wonder if there's a market for a media training business for athletes. Because a lot of these guys are not savvy with the media. And it's not that difficult. Like you would teach someone to be a broadcaster. You could teach an athlete to answer questions. You could have paid for it too. But then it serves both parties. It could serve the athlete, it serves the team, it serves the press. Like a way, and if you want to career, you know, in the public eye after your career is over, here's how you do it. This is the way that you talk to the media. I can't tell you about like in what avenues to do it. First thing I'd say is don't stream yourself and don't start podcast. And if you start a podcast, start a podcast that you know people are going to listen to. Because otherwise it's not good for your brand. All right, look, enough time has passed. Call crashed.
