The Texas Rangers kick off Cactus League play Friday after a week of pitchers and catchers workouts and plenty of activity for position players. Manager Skip Schumaker joins to talk about the state of the team heading into the first spring games, including a handful of young arms who have flashed and could be closer to the big leagues than expected as camp continues.

 

Schumaker also discussed adapting to new elements this spring, including how he plans to use the ABS system during games and how live batting practice has been a highlight of early workouts.

 

Off the field, the baseball world was rocked this week when MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark resigned amid union leadership turmoil and an ongoing investigation, leaving negotiations and the union’s future direction unclear.
