Smith & Wilson: From Rivals to Reunited Jets

On April 29th, back in 2022, the Seattle Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for two first-round picks, handing the

starting job to Geno Smith. Smith shocked everyone by beating Wilson in their first matchup at Lumen Field and shattering several of his single season passing records that year.

Fast forward, and now both quarterbacks are on the ropes, potentially linking up with the New York Jets where Smith got drafted over a decade ago.

Smith kicked off his career with the Jets in the second round of 2013, but bounced after four rough years.

He spent five seasons as a backup before landing the Seahawks gig, post Wilson trade.

There are three years as teammates in Seattle ended on a sour no for Smith, who fell overshadowed, but no bad blood seems to linger.

He completed 58% for 831 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Meanwhile, the Jets hosted the 35-year-old Wilson for a visit,

eyeing him as their potential number two behind Smith.

Picture this reversal, Smith finally owning his old team as the starter, Wilson riding the bench.
