Sometimes It Feels Like Just Too Much
About this episode
Sometimes It Feels Like Just Too Much
“My soul is deeply grieved…” (from Matthew 26:38)
Sometimes it feels like it’s just too much—
too much to carry, too much to process, too much to hold.
Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by everything going on
within us and around us.
This is where Jesus is near the end of the Gospel of Matthew.
He knows he is about to be betrayed.
He knows his closest friends won’t be there for him.
He knows he is about to be crucified.
And none of that feels easy.
Sometimes the paths we choose,
and sometimes the paths that choose us,
are hard—mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually.
When they are, it helps to do what Jesus does here:
Acknowledge what’s happening.
Acknowledge what we feel.
Pause to reflect and pray.
And then, as we are able,
move forward—
not driven by anger, bitterness, or fear,
but grounded in something deeper.

My soul was deeply grieved. Sometimes it feels just too much to carry, too much to process, too much to hold. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by everything going on within and around us. This is where Jesus is near the end of the gospel of Matthew. He knows he's about to be portrayed. He knows his closest friends won't be there for him. He knows he's about to be crucified. And none of that feels easy. Sometimes the paths we choose and sometimes the paths that choose us are hard, mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually. When they are, it helps to do what Jesus does here, acknowledge what's happening, acknowledge what we feel, pause to reflect and pray, and then, as we are able, move forward, not driven by anger, bitterness, or fear, but grounded in something deeper. I'm Horus McMillan. This is 60 seconds of hope. Peace be with you.
