Soul food was born pre-civil war, the creation of enslaved people to provide life sustaining sustenance, but also a homage to their roots. Now soul food is the food of freedom, comfort, and community. Passed through generations within the black American communities, it is a representation of a culture that continues to define resilience, perseverance, fortitude, and strength.
