A HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK remains in effect through Friday evening for the Atlantic-facing beaches from Palm Beach down through Miami-Dade. If you're planning a trip to the ocean, pay close attention to these dangerous currents.
Starting with today, expect mostly sunny skies along the Palm Beach coast with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Moderate thunderstorm potential is possible, so keep an eye on those developing cells. Surf heights will run three to five feet with east winds at ten to fifteen miles per hour. The water temperature is warming up nicely into the mid seventies, and with very high UV index values, make sure you're protecting your skin. High temperatures will reach around eighty degrees. The Lake Worth Pier will see a high tide at eight fifty-eight this morning and a low tide at three oh five this afternoon.
Down in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, conditions are slightly different. You'll have partly sunny skies with the same chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Surf heights here are a bit smaller, running three to four feet today, with similar east winds. Water temperatures sit in the upper seventies, and highs will reach the upper seventies to around eighty. The Miami Harbor Entrance will have a high tide at nine thirty-six this morning and a low tide at three twenty-six this afternoon.
If you're heading south to Collier County, including Naples and Marco Island, conditions are much calmer. Rip current risk drops to low, and surf is minimal at one foot or less. It'll be mostly sunny with a moderate chance of those afternoon thunderstorms, highs in the lower eighties, and light east winds around ten miles per hour. This is the place to be if you want to avoid the dangerous surf conditions.
Friday looks fantastic across the board. The high rip current risk continues for Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade, so swimmers and surfers need to remain cautious. Thunderstorm potential drops to none, giving way to mostly sunny skies everywhere. Surf will remain in the three to five foot range for the Atlantic beaches, while Collier stays calm with minimal conditions.
