You're listening to Fishing the DMV with your host Thomas errands Fishing the DMV is brought to you by Jake spate and tackle located in Winchester, Virginia and Tactical fishing company. That doesn't get you jacked up. I don't know what will Hello everybody. How is everybody doing this evening? Could I get a mic check mic check mic check how am I sounding? I have finally gotten all the old stats for the tournament So we are good to go and ready to kind of get the first tournament update video out of way And as always, I will start blabbering my little mouth here once I get confirmation that people can hear me Do-do-do-do making sure that we're on Facebook as well because sometimes it doesn't want to cross over to Facebook How sometimes the comment section doesn't even want to turn on for me So let me get a check on my Facebook real quick to see if we are over there

I hate that noise. It just drives me crazy It's almost like I can't like a tussle with it. Maybe it's on Yeah, but it's not showing me if there's comments or anything which is delightful So you guys can be commenting. I'm gonna comment on myself. You'll say hi beautiful All right, let's see if that comment shows up. Oh, look at that. It does. All right. Cool So comments do work. You guys are just not doing anything. So that's perfectly fine Good afternoon. There he is. There's the man. How are you doing sir? All right All right with all that said let's just get into this thing So as always this will be re-uploaded for everyone to see on apple Spotify apple podcasts I hurt radio and all of that jazz This is the this is the second actually I can't believe that I'm doing this is the second annual spring bass Bash tournament, and so let's just kind of get into this bad boy. Shall we? Perfect. I mean actually right there. You can see that okay with my ugly face here So let's get into it. This is the this is the second annual spring bash bass This is how it works. The tournament goes from March 21st through May 17th It's a big old long tournament

I want it because we couldn't do the frostbite frenzy because it was Overly cold to the point that everything was basically frozen that solid decided to just lengthen this tournament out to make sure we got pretty much Prespawn all the way into post spawn in our area. So I kind of like the format. We'll see how it goes First, I just want to thank basically all the sponsors Jake's paying tackle Tactical fishing company fishing protect and of course the super blue stuff These guys help pay all of my electrical bills equipment and things like that that way it frees up any YouTube money I get ads since money stuff like that so I can start paying for some of these fishing tournaments And I think like that again going over the rules real quick before we kind of get into the old standings of it The tournament is from Saturday March 21st through I started at 7am and it ends Sunday May 17th at midnight you guys can submit fish all the way up until midnight after midnight The fish do not count to enter the tournament You have until Friday of this week to enter the tournament and then it's no longer like you have no more chance to do it

Gives you guys like a week grace period because you just find out about this on social media I want to enter it plus it's like a month two month tournament. So I think One extra week won't really won't really hurt anything But so some rules here To enter the tournament you must be an active weekend warrior patreon club member Or you're a grandfathered in member or you're a higher level like the Hall of Fame tier This happened last tournament and I will make sure it's nipped in the buds you can't Sign up and then ask for a refund or quit halfway through the tournament You will automatically be disqualified from the event you can't try to cheat the system ask for refund You know, it's six bucks eight bucks. It's not a lot of money to enter the tournament That just cover a little bit of the cost guys for the amount of prizes. I give away Let's not be a dick honestly and do that that happened last tournament try to make sure it doesn't happen again I would really appreciate it It just kind of helps me keep the lights on here All right, so I am not a uber uber Duber strict with this I'm trying to get better because I know a lot of the guys

They want to kind of have me represent or or or match a lot of a tie-ac tournament rules that go on So I'm going to try to get better with it and I'm going to give people a grace period There's a couple people in our clubs that are about 285 years old And I say that lovingly and so I try to give a grace period when they don't have everything perfectly lined up with this if you would like to screenshot This this is how it should look the mouth should be right up against the bump board at all times The mouth being closed here's the book you with the mouth being closed I don't want you to hurt the fish and I don't like it in some of these kayak tournaments where you're trying to Jam the mouth shut if it is barely open generally. I don't I'm going to count it It's when you have some of these that'll happen where the mouth is just blatantly wide open against the board. That's going to be an issue When it comes to the boards This right here the preferred brands is the the chitech the hog trough the ones that you see in the kayak tournaments

And then here and this is the big reason for it is all the lines so You guys are unfamiliar with the tournament and I'll write this down here the fish can be 12 inches 12.25 inches 12.50 inches 12.75 and then it would be 13 inches Okay The easier it is to identify all the different measurements on the fish the easier it is for me to a lot you points There are some people that are starting out with these events that have a bass pro shot mental ruler or they have other brands That's perfectly fine, but it's not legible the in between lines. I cannot give you those points I just I just can't um and I remember you guys remember last tournament We had in in the fall the guy duct tape two rulers together and stuff and I did my best there But I couldn't give him those micro measurements So if I the only thing I can see this legible is 12 and there is no 12.25 I can't give you 12.25 I just can't it has I have to go by the marks the best of my ability

And so if it's over a mark that's obvious perfect great But if all the marks aren't legible that's gonna be a problem again If you haven't invested it in a nice fancy board perfectly fine Just want to keep it fair that's just how it is So invest in some of those really good boards. I know there's one board. I'm going to show you guys that I got a fish on That is just Autism the amount of lines on it and it just makes a lot easier for me to maximize the points you can have Because there will be tie breakers eventually. I don't know if it's going to be this tournament or one But it's going to come down to a fish that's you know, maybe a micro centimeter a little bit longer And when that happens, it's a lot easier to reward those points to be able to have the proper board That's basically it so but yeah if a fish is over 15 inches on any board And I can see that I can count that it's just hard for me to count this little things I know I'm I'm re-imphasizing this a thousand times but just so people kind of understand Uh, if you guys have any questions about any of this stuff, please let me know I try to be as um Linging on this stuff is possible because I never want these tournaments to this is not the best master opens

It's not the mlf. This is not the bbt. It never will be tried that I hated it It's just too much stress when I am just a podcast. I don't want to be a tournament director first person foremost So that's just basically that um When it comes to covering the face I it's okay I I prefer you not cover the face on the fish But if it's your first tournament like I'll message you be like hey dude if you can if you can help it Try not to cover the fish's face makes it a little bit easier for me to see everything if you're not blinding the fish There are some other issues with holding the face. I don't want to know that lab because people get off You know, it's like saying Voldemort Voldemort a couple of times And I think that's like offline conversations, but I don't think anybody's trying to um Been the rules necessarily. I think comes and just like people that aren't familiar with holding the fish correctly So there's that So that's with that there um here we go So when it comes to the species allowed it is pretty much large mouth and small mouth if you somehow catch a spotted bass

We'll look at it. I can't give it a separate category So we'll just count it as a large mouth But there's not a lot of places besides like bugs Diaskin clater. There's only a few places really in our area that has them So that's why they're not really mentioned is there's just there's so few and far between But it's your eight fish your best eight fish. There's large mouth and small mouth predominantly There is a small mouth only division and a mixed bag large mouth division. How does that work? It's your best eight. Okay, so if you catch Uh, seven large mouth and the next biggest fish that's in your stringer is a small mouth You're still in the mixed bag division. That's just kind of how it works It's not that you can pick and choose which fish to pull in at the end of the day It's whatever your best eight will be that are on that board will be the ones that will file you into that division All small mouth and then you have the mixed bag or a large mouth division And it's honestly, it's really hard to play in the large mouth division as you'll see with any type of brown ones unless you have a phenomenal day All right, so let's get to the awards here

So basically I was gonna work you have the large mouth and mixed bag division in first place You get two hundred dollars a cool trophy and some goodies. I have some super blue stuff Packets I have a bunch of stuff from all of our sponsors as well and then in second place you get a hundred dollars a trophy Goodie bag and then in third place you get 60 bucks trophy plaque fourth place trophy plaque trophies plaque basically you don't get a trophy on a plaque And then in fifth place you also get a plaque small mouth division the exact same thing Cool, everyone get that awesome awesome awesome Do do do do and you guys have any questions. Please let me know as well Um, let's see so first up. We have the large mouth mixed bag division So as always to kind of to to be a little bit more Theory dramatic here just to kind of hype it up for everybody else I'm not gonna show you the scores yet. I am just going to kind of talk it off here before I flip the screen Just just because I can so in the mixed bag small mouth division or in the mixed bag large mouth division

we're gonna start in oh I should mention this too. So this is important When I made all the big fish awards and I did all the graphic designs that that was Monday Monday morning through Monday afternoon And then I was gonna flip over and download the excel spreadsheet because with turniacs the only way I could do a side pot and run to divisions is I downloaded the excel spreadsheet and then I split it into categories So all the big fish awards are based on everything up to date as of yesterday And then today I was able to get in contact with the nice gentleman like late last night this morning And he downloaded the excel spreadsheet so The overall standings might be a little adjusted from Monday to Tuesday But the big fish are based on Monday or earlier just so everyone knows doesn't kill me Which it doesn't matter because next Monday. I'll do another update video So but that's just way so I'm just all clear and good with all that so that's that In 23rd place in the large mouth mixed bag division we have

And I didn't set this up at the time But basically the first day the tournament was basically over with Hunter He had the best day of his life on the water And so the Hunter Smith rule basically is this I'm giving away a 50 dollar 50 dollars in cash And a plaque to the 6 biggest large mouth The 6 biggest large mouth caught By separate anglers By separate anglers Okay, so if you catch Four large mouth that are 30 inches long You have to count the biggest one And then we go to the next biggest fish caught by a different angler That's just how we've done it ever since last spring And it keeps the kind of competitive and oh And that's what this is about So here we go All right honorable mention here in 6 place In 6 place We have Dave Thompson with a 19.25 inch large mouth And again just to let sure because I know people are going to be listening to about this

And this these were updated as of Monday So if you caught a massive fish today Which is Tuesday March 31st Do not stress I will re update the leaderboards and it'll be updated for next week I'm going to try to do weekly tournament updates So do not stress at all about this All right ready the Sorry fifth yet the fifth biggest large mouth caught in the event goes to Jason Church with this 19.25 inch fish It came down to a tie breaker because of when the fish were submitted And then this one is a wee bit bigger here Again, he is that really cool Yeah, I could tack board which basically gets you like damn near like centimeters or Metro meters or something which is pretty cool All right the fourth biggest large mouth caught so far in this event goes to boom roi Jones Beautiful 19.5 inch large mouth

Now let's get this to the third biggest large mouth submitted in this event And it goes to Bruce Calis The beautiful 21.5 Zero inch water well look at the eyes on that bad boy man He's poking out of his skin. He's eaten so much Chinese beautiful beautiful fish All right, so now this gets us into our top two biggest large mouth in the event all right here we go The biggest the second biggest large mouth so far goes to Jamie McClain 22.25 inches beautiful beautiful bass there dude It's gonna make a heck of a YouTube video man awesome awesome awesome fish man Again, beautiful 22.25 inches and then here it is Drum roll I have the drum roll sound effect. I do not darn it all right, so in it so here we go the biggest large mouth so far recorded in this tournament goes to

eight and four 24.50 inches Beautiful dude absolute massive massive bass eight and four 24.50 inches if the tournament ended today these are your big fish winners They win $50 and a plaque, but we still have a month left. We're gonna be going into the spawn I have a feeling Every fish is gonna have to be over 21 inches long easily to actually win some cash prizes here So but we will see All right, so now we got the old small mouth division all right, so let me get my small mouth stuff up here Do to do All right, cool here we go. So well further ado. I'm gonna build up the tension here with it and 16th place with 14.25 inches we have fin cook and 15th place with 15 inches we have uh Michelle

herds Kirschner and 14th place with 15.75 inches we have Charlie Russell and 13th place with 16.50 inches we have Joe Parks in 12th place with 26.25 inches we have Kelly Reeves and 11th place with 28.75 inches we have Tyler Simmons in 10th place with 34 inches we have Frank Reed and 9th place with 81 inches we have Rodney Williams and 8th place with 102 inches we have Jose Serrano in 7th place the legend from the Susky himself with 105.50 inches we have David Colette in 6th place with 135.50 inches

yeah 135.50 inches we have Douglas Spatch in 5th place the legend of the upper Potomac the river rat himself the legend Cliff Bennett with 135.75 inches in 4th place with 136.75 inches Todd Spatch in 3rd place with 139.50 inches we have Joe Edwards in 2nd place with 140 inches we have Matthew Gills and I always struggle with your name and god have mercy on my soul but he's within this damn tournament with 150.25 inches we have Jared Clair all righty guys we're going to go with the old the old speed round here here we go 16th place we got Finn Cook 14.25 in in that 16th in 15th place we have Michelle with 15

I it's Michael probably I don't know why called you Michelle my apologies I am mentally disabled in 14th place with 15.75 we have Charlie Russell in 13th place with 16.50 we have Joe Parks in 12th place with 26.25 we have Kelly Reeves in 11th place with 28.75 we have Tyler Simmons in 10th place Frank Reed with 34 inches in 9th place Rodney Williams with 81 in 8th place we have Jose Serrano the 102 in 7th place we have David Colette with 105.50 in 6th place we have Douglas Spatch with 135.50 in 5th place we have Cliff Bennett with 135.75 in 4th place we have Todd Spatch with 136.75 in 3rd place we have Joey Edwards with 139.50 in 2nd place we have Matthew Gills with 140 in 1st place we have Jared Clair with 140 150.25 inches my god I did it

hey Tommy you said the words you said all the words all righty that gets us into the big fish for this the small mouth big fish award winners this tournament ended today this is how this bad boy would look all right here we go drum roll please so we spiced it up we spiced it up this year we really did and I'm very very happy with how we did this so wait I just lost my screen there you guys are so we are giving away three big fish awards and this is how we break it down Pennsylvania waters Maryland waters Virginia waters it's not where your address is it's where you fished so if you are pushing the Susquehanna you don't have to compete against the new river vice versa the only little caveats here which it's not right in the roles but I've just verbally talked about as much as the West Virginia right now we've only had two people from West Virginia sign up and they're really on the border of like the new river and the upper Potomac and that's what they fish so anywhere on the new river

counts as Virginia anywhere on the upper Potomac basically counts as Maryland waters if we get 20 more we get 10 more people to sign up we will do a West Virginia division for the small mouth so it is again just like the large mouth division if you catch two 25 inch small mouth where are you fishing please let me know but you get to count the biggest one that you have and then the next biggest angler from another angler gets to go that's just how that works keeps it fun keeps it competitive we get to see a lot of cool fish caught so the biggest small mouth in Pennsylvania waters is what we're going to do first drum roll please we're going with the second biggest the second biggest one so far caught is from Todd Spatch 18.25 inches is the third biggest all right the second biggest small mouth caught from Pennsylvania waters goes to Douglas Spatch at first I always thought they were brothers but I believe that's a father sending

combo so good job guys and then here we go in the biggest small mouth caught out of Pennsylvania waters goes to Jared Claire all right and we're going to go into the old Maryland waters here guys all right so the third biggest goes to Joey Edwards 18.50 inches congratulations and then here we go the second biggest small mouth caught out of Maryland waters goes to Claire Bennett 19 inches on the dot but if we got to work on your your photography skills here could you angle it up a little bit more god love you and you're in a boat too so all right in first place they're the biggest small mouth caught out of Maryland waters now goes to Jose Serrano 19.25 inches

beautiful small mouth my man all righty let's get into the old Maryland waters here we go here we go here we go in Virginia waters the third biggest small mouth caught so far goes to Rodney Williams well done boss man 17.25 inches all right there we go and the second biggest goes to Toby Foster 18.25 inches all right and then here we go the next one right here the biggest small mouth caught out of Virginia waters goes to Matthew Gales 20.25 inches first small mouth to break the 20 inch mark again and Matthew if you could not hold their eyes going forward that would be awesome again it's still in the bumpboard everything's good

there beautiful fish do 20 inches nothing and hey a 20-incher that's a Virginia fish that's awesome you know usually it's a it's the old Susky that kind of gets close to that 20-inch mark so congratulations you that's awesome stuff now let's get into the sidepots challenges the first one up with the biggest croppy goes to Mark Corley and the biggest croppy so far that has been brought to the brought to the table sort of speak for the sidepot challenge is Aaron ball the croppy master himself all right and then get up here with the next thing here clear Bennett with a beautiful walleye 22.75 inches so far you are the only walleye submitted there's a bunch more sidepot there's a bunch more sidepots out there guys but none have been actually submitted yet so please

please please go check those out let's see we got okay we have let's see we got what we got question here on the patreon from Shane Hugh what measuring board should we use for measuring striper my tech my kite tick board is only 20 goes up 26 inches I would suggest if you could get a bigger kite tick board that'd be great but otherwise if you want to put a measuring tape again so I just went over this during the video this is a comment but if you want you can put a measuring tape next to it or line it up or some kind of measurement again if it's got the inch mark and it lines up I get it for something like a snake head or a striper something that we have somebody in the chat right now that had this issue actually a last tournament or two tournaments ago so yeah if you put a measuring if you have a kite tick board it's not big enough I get it it sucks yeah here we go kite tick only goes up 32 exactly so

if you have a 32 inch board or a 22 inch board in your case boss man and you lay another thing it's perfectly inch next to it I can guesstimate it and I can give you an inch I won't be able to give you a half inch of study but I can give you it so if you have driven a diver past the board that's perfectly fine Josh Torres 20 yeah use that as an example if you get your 20 inch small amount please let me know where you're going but a 20 inch small amount out of Virginia water is absolutely amazing so yeah dude like Shane if you've caught a monster striper use your first board as a reference point because it kind of cradles the fish which is nice and then do another one and I think Aiden Ford he has a rollable one I don't I could not be rollable it looks rollable could be wrong I'm an idiot but there's also other boards you can get there for those bigger species again it just needs to be lined up perfectly so I can tell some kind of inch measurement on that thing and we can kind of give it to you because clearly it's past 22 inches so it's just how many more inches we have to give you on that but if you catch over a 22 inch driver you probably just want to strike a big fish award honestly but message me fishing in DMV actually I mean I put that up there right now there you go message me fishing in DMV at gmail.com if you message me

guys yep I can get back to you or you can reach out to me on social media if you have any questions I'm always available for that and if you guys would like to sponsor a side pot or you want to donate some prizes I can we can do that as well we hit over 57 people 57 people that sign up for this bad boy which is absolutely awesome you guys don't know I basically backstop everything financially when it comes to these tournaments and if we can get 50 more 50 more patreon supporters to sign up which will be huge if we can do this 50 more patreon supporters to sign up the summer tournament I will be able to reduce the entry fee while maintaining the prizes the way they are basically which will be huge so 50 more people that sign up or donate or maybe we get a couple more sponsors then I'll be able to reduce how much each tournament is costing you while keeping the prizes which is what I want I don't want it to get to be like $100,000 all that stuff will keep it tiny local and that way I'll keep the fist fights in the parking lot down as well so guys yep that's it so basically thank you guys so much if you guys want to you have

until Friday to sign up for the tournament link in the episode description down below again you must be an active weekend warrior grandfathered in member or if you want to you can be a Hall of Fame member Hall of Fame member basically you will get a ton of great perks including your name will be at Jake's bait and tackle I'm gonna hang your name up at Jake's bait and tackle we'll give you a couple more bonus prizes and I'll also give you a promotion for your small business or whatever you have so I have that available as well link in the episode description you guys have any questions and I will see you guys next time on fishing the DMV say ya you're listening to Fishing the DMV with your host Thomas Arons fishing the DMV is brought to you by Jake's bait and tackle located in Winchester, Virginia tactical fishing company and fishing protect located just outside Williamsburg Virginia that doesn't get you jacked up I don't know what will
