St George Mining's Araxá resource hits 111Mt, "right up there" with Mt Weld and Mountain Pass

St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ, FRA:S0G, OTC:SGQMF) executive chairman John Prineas spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the latest resource upgrade at the Araxá rare earths and niobium project in Brazil, now standing at 111.2 million tonnes. Prineas said the upgrade confirms Araxá's scale as a hard-rock, carbonatite-hosted deposit, comparing it to major producers Mt Weld and Mountain Pass: "We've stamped our credentials as being right up there in terms of grade and volume." He highlighted the 75.2 million tonnes now in the measured and indicated categories as key for future development and economic studies, saying the high-confidence base could underpin a long-life operation. Prineas also discussed Araxá's potential to produce neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) over a mine life extending beyond 20, or even 30, years, a factor that could reassure prospective offtake partners and help fund development and capital costs. Exploration continues at the nearby East Araxá discovery, one kilometre east of the main deposit, with a further resource upgrade targeted for around November. Following a recent A$60 million raise, Prineas said St George is fully funded through to a financial investment decision, with focus shifting to metallurgical test work, permitting and offtake contracts.
