Steelers & Browns Unite on NFL Rule Changes

For the NFL, it's March 19th.

Here's what's happening.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns, rival since 1950, are teaming up this

offseason on NFL rule changes.

Instead of battling on the field, both are pushing tweaks to free agency and draft trades

to give teams more flexibility.

The Steelers want to make a temporary 2025 rule permanent.

It lets teens have one video or phone call up to one hour, with as many as five unrestricted

free agents during the two-day negotiation window.

They also propose arranging travel once terms are agreed upon.

Pittsburgh floated this idea last spring and quietly went into effect this year.

Meanwhile, the Browns are eyeing a bigger shift.

They propose letting teams trade draft picks up to five seasons ahead.

Cleveland already tested this by moving a 20-28 pick last year for an offensive tackle.

The goal is more trade activity and roster planning.

These changes could help both squads.

Direct talks might sway free agents like wire receivers, the Steelers' covet, speeding

up deals.

But the Browns idea carries risks, given their past flops, like trading multiple first-round

picks recorded back to Sean Watson, who under-delivered in just 19 games over three years.

All 32 teams will vote on these at the league meeting from March 29th to April 1st.
