You're not cheating anyone else or anything else. You are cheating you. It's called a shortcut because you're short cutting yourself. You are short changing yourself. By the way, this jacket is fly. But anyways, people take shortcuts because it's easy, right? But what's going to happen when you actually have to put in the work or you actually go have to do the tasks that you're going to cheat all the time? You're going to suck it. And we are so lazy. We want instant results.
If you search on YouTube right now, how to get abs in 24 hours, how to get abs fast, how to lose weight fast, how to blow up on YouTube fast, fast, fast, fast, fast, fast, quick shortcuts, right? Everybody want everything fast, but things take time. How long did it take you to pop out of room? Did your mom and dad just, and then you just pumped out? No. It took months of you developing it, turning into a little fetus and growing and growing and growing until the day you came out of the room because things take time. Nothing really happens instantly, right? So get that out of your mind. I work at a job, I work at Sam's, right? And these people, they like to come through the back of the vestibule where you're not supposed to come through because the car is constantly coming in and it's dangerous. And if one of them got hit, then you know they were trying to sue, right? So a lot of people like to walk through that because it's a shortcut, okay? But when we close it and do what's actually supposed to be done, they come complaining to us about not being able to cut through that.
But my dude, it's just 30 more steps around the waist. Are you that lazy? It's all cool when you can just cut through and life is fun. They know they're wrong because they tip their through like, excuse me, let me come through. I know I'm not supposed to do this. But the moment they supposed to do what they need to do or what they're supposed to be doing, they minds completely go into this entitled and baby phase where they just can't perform. It's like if you don't want to kill, you know what I'm saying? Go on, let them walk around there, right? This lady come up to me the other day. She was like, I need a flat car. I said, okay, come right over here. They're right over there. She come up to me like, I'm going to go get it for her. Now look, I'm all for helping people. I'm all for helping people who are not able. But this lady was on the biggest size, but she was able by. So I did her a service by walking her around the store, showing her where they were and making her get it her sale. I'm not going to enable you to take short cuts, right?
I'm not going to help you cut your life short. Cut yourself short. I can't do it because I've been there before. When I was playing football, I was good at football. But when I was younger, I don't know if it was one of my cousins or something, but I've ran like a hitch route. That's when you run, you turn around, stop. You know, you're facing a quarterback going to catch a ball. And when I tell you, whoever threw it, they hummed it. And it hit me in the face, right? After that day, I had like a little PTSD from running, stopping routes. So what I would do is avoid running them. In practice, I would avoid running them. I would always go wander off and do something else. And then in games, I would run those routes. I have to step slower than everybody. So I wouldn't be open. So I would never get those routes. They could throw me any other route, but I did not want to catch stopping routes because I scared myself and I took short cuts and I cheated myself into not developing that skill. And until I grew older and realized, like, man, I'm cheating myself by hitch route.
A stopping route is one of the most effective routes. And I like catching a ball, right? So I started working on it. And I started forcing myself and pushing myself towards doing the things that I hated and stopped short-cut myself. And I became a much better player. I became a much better person. I was open more. I was getting more touches. Imagine you run past to do it, right? You catch a ball for 30 yards. And then the crowd was jumping, oh my god, you score a touchdown, whatever the case may be. And then the next drive, you come through and you hammer it. You running as fast as you can. You're going to try to catch up with you. And then all that ones, boom, boom, boom, you break down and stop. He going to keep running. You're going to create separation. You catch the ball. You reverse out and then you put a move on him and go. I was cheating myself from those luxuries, cheating myself because I was afraid because I wanted to take a short cut because I wanted to do everything easy, right? Like I mentioned earlier, we search up how to lose weight fast and expect to lose 300
pounds in a week. Not realistic, my friend. And what you're telling your mind is, if I can't have it fast, if I can't have it instant instant gratification, then it's not worth pursuing. It's too painful, it's too hard. I can't perform. We got to train our minds to be like warriors. I'm not saying put yourself through torment and torture every day. But you need to find some form of adversity and stay true to it. You need to find some form of a journey and stay true to it. Don't worry about the end results. worry about the journey. My mind was in shambles when I worried about being able to do this certain calisthenic move today or being able to have a million subscribers on YouTube today or a million followers on TikTok or being able to play this guitar song today. My mind was going crazy when I kept focusing on the end goal. Yes, you got to have a goal in mind, but you have to embrace the journey. You have to embrace the work. You have to embrace that it's not going to happen fast.
You're not going to become a legend at whatever you want to do fast. Some people blow up on YouTube fast things like that, but they put in insane work. Some people get lucky. But what do they have to do to maintain that? Insane work. You have to work regardless. Take any profession. Take any skill. Whatever you want to aspire to be. Find the best person in there and go look at the story. I love guitars. I'm learning how to play guitar. I'm learning how to play piano. Prince used to lock his cell in cabins for months at a time to learn new instruments. Jimmy Hendrix used to play guitar for over eight hours a day. They said Jimmy Hendrix walked around with a guitar and it stayed attached to him. If Jimmy Hendrix was a cool guy, but you had to be willing to accompany a guitar. Because any free time he had, he was playing a guitar. That's why he is known to be the best. One of the most influential or probably the most influential player. In the history of guitar. So what I'm telling you is there's no shortcuts, my friend.
And I do not want to see you go down the road or cheat in yourself, cheat in your life. Short-changing yourself to become a lazy and instantly gratified addict of fast-opement. Or something like that. You know? But anyways, my friends, I'm about to go to New Orleans. I'm going to go turn in some clothes at this Dirt Shop and get some store credits.
