Street Encounter: Boone, NC Muslim Denies Bukhari (Olin Giles)
About this episode
The last time I was at this mosque there was a young blonde-haired, blue-eyed student from Appalachian State University confessing the shahada, the Islamic confession of faith. Apart from that tragedy, my meeting with these Muslims was great. We had many respectful and meaningful conversations. However, after several visits they decided to block my email and cut off all communication. This was no surprise to me since I have seen this happen many times. Once they realize that you know Islam and can defend your faith in Christ (1 Peter 3:15), they are no longer interested. They prefer gullible college students who do not know anything about Islam or the Bible.

Hello my friend. Have you got just a minute before you go in? You remember me? Kind of. Yeah, I came a couple of times. You want that camera? Yeah. I won't put your picture on there. I just wanted to... I mean I came and made a video here today and your website says that you're going to be looking to engage in conversations with non-Muslims and Muslims alike. It looks like to me you blocked my email. So, I just want to... I love you. My first of all, I love you guys. I don't hate Muslims. I don't like Islam. But you don't want to talk to me. I don't understand why. It says you want to talk. But I've tried my best to have a conversation with you and your leadership here about who is Jesus.
Just a friendly conversation. We can be respectful to each other. But actually you can be kind when you... Yeah, I don't want to keep you. You're not allowed to be allowed to get... No, I emailed you and they blocked my email. I am not allowed to see you. I guess not. It's been blocked. Do you website on the first floor or something? Yeah. And they saw a kind of anti-Muslim and this and that. I've never been anti-Muslim. I've always been anti-Islam. Like I said... This time is religion. That's right. Yeah. The Muslims are believing in Islam. So I can love Muslims and not love Islam. There's a difference here. You love a person. Not Muslims. I love Muslims. Because you don't like Muslims.
Islam. And do you like to see people like any other people on the respect? And that's good. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm just trying to do what your website says that you want to do. But it seems like to me, the moment you guys found out that I knew a little bit about Islam, you didn't want to talk to me anymore. And I found that to be the case all over. I just got... Did you get a copy of the Quran? I did, yes sir. I get to read it. I spent the last 15, 16 years of my life reading studying that book. Okay. I know it very well. Okay. You and I had a conversation if you remember about, you know, the chapter on women, chapter 4, 19, Mary. Yeah. I mean, we have an eye, which is we call the chapter. It talks about the Mary. And how she developed Jesus. We have some differences between you when you believe Jesus is the Son of God.
And we believe Jesus is the Prophet of God because we were a Shippon God, which is my God. Hey, we worship one God. Yeah. But apparently some of you who are not all of them, they know that Jesus is some of God. And that's differences between us and you. Yeah. And that respect. Yeah. And that's what our analysis, not me and you. Right. Thank you. Jesus is the Prophet of the University of Israel. And you just, you respect. Give me any religion, respect, the religion. 2000, they don't recognize you. You don't recognize the stuff. I was Abraham a Muslim. Hi Abraham. He's a Muslim. So in Genesis 15, one Abraham encountered the word in an error.
May I keep you say, Memorah in Greek you say, Logos, the word takes him outside, shows him the stars and says that your children are going to be as abundant as the stars. Genesis 15, 6 Abraham is, he believed in Yahweh and he's credited righteousness. He's not saved by the scales. He's not saved by works. Genesis 18, 1, we have a theophany where Yahweh manifests himself as a human being. Comes to Abraham as a man. Oh, it's God. Yahweh is God. Manifest him is what we would call a theophany. He manifests himself as a human being. And the Bible says that he appeared to Abraham before the oaks of memory with two other men. Genesis 19, 1 tells us that those two men were angels. And Yahweh manifesting himself as a human being in Genesis 1924, go on to bring judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah. And the Bible says that Yahweh on earth is working in conjunction with Yahweh in heaven
and he reigns fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah. That's what you're saying. That's what your Quran says. It says it confirms the Torah. It says that Jesus is a prophet. But he has miracles. One miracle is the blindness. He will be blind for all people. All of these are miracles of God to have. Like any other prophet. This is when he crossed the mercy. Jesus took and then God made a miracle for him to cross with his own hope. And then when it comes to fail on this, harmony they were the swath.
Yah. You know this, so every prophet has this. He had given him a miracle and they can do this miracles. But for you, for me as a Christian, we see Moses. You believe one prophet, Muhammad? No, no, no. You don't think where do you get Moses from other than the Quran? To the Quran and read. To go to the Quran. That's how much how many times or places they cited Moses. But those are contradicting what the Torah and the Gospel, the Psalms and the prophets all said. It's not confirming it at the Quran. The Quran tells us that these prophets Moses received a message from God. Jesus received a message from God. And Muhammad received a message from God. And he is the last prophet.
The other things I want to emphasize here, the Quran wants to be to Muhammad. This is the beginning. Reveal to him and then immediately they documented. For you it took time between the reading and then one. You have the same problem. I mean, Oothman collected all the variant Quran and burned them. Oothman, away after Muhammad was dead. Right, then they adopted because people they had many prophets and they sum up them different from the other. Right. So he adopted one of them and then they eliminated the other. But even my point was, even the Quran that you have today says that it confirms the Torah and the Gospel. In the Bana Yiddah, what is between their hands?
So it confirms the Torah and the Gospel yet. It contradicts the Torah and the Gospel. So the book that I have, the Torah, the Gospel, the prophets, they all teach the same thing. And then Muhammad comes along 600 plus years later. They're teaching the Oneness of God. So I just gave you from Genesis four examples of how it contradicts Islam. Yeah. No, I mean what we believe and we assume the Moses' follower, the Jewish, they follow God. And then the Christian they follow God and Muslim they follow God. So all of these are the Oneness of God. The question is, Abraham is the father of the prophets. All the prophets descended from him. So he encountered Jesus as a man. It's what Jesus said in John chapter 8.
He was saved by faith. He encountered a multi-personal God, God on earth, God in heaven, two persons. Yeah, yeah, you mentioned this. Yeah, so. We don't believe in that. We believe in Moses and Jesus they follow God. But apparently different interpretation says that he has got universe of plenty of stuff. Yes, he did. Yes, he did. Multiple times. I mean, you have, you have, I mean, I don't want to keep you. I know you're trying to get inside. But I mean, John one begins within the beginning was the word and the word was with God. The word was God. I mean, it's very clear that he's pointing back to the book of Genesis. It says, I mean, it uses language like in R.K. Ain't hot logos. The word was speaks of past, present, continuously. He didn't have a beginning. He was there in the beginning. And John 114 goes on to tell us that. I wish I can direct you to someone, the bit about God.
Please find me somebody to talk to you. Everywhere I go, I talk about you. Because you, my friend, have a spirit of humility that I have never encountered anywhere else. I am. You, and I appreciate that. You are very respectful. You've always been very respectful to me. You just have this humble attitude about you. I appreciate that. Good. I like that. I would like to have a talk. You find anybody. We can be respectful. We know I can be respectful, right? Definitely. Yeah. But the issue is the debate was higher level. And maybe my watch was better than ever. Yeah. About this people's study, the Christianity. Right. I heard John first. Hello. Hey, how are you? Good. What can we do for you? I heard John first. Oh, OK. Yeah. Yeah. He's the Muslim Imam here. I don't know if that's your title or not.
But he and I have had several good conversations. I've been trying to reach out to him. And I was just telling him how much I appreciate just how respectful and humble he is. Yeah. I travel all over the United States and do this. I've never encountered a man like this man right here. How about that, Sam? And I just appreciate that. But I believe he's wrong. And if I really do love this man, I want to talk about that. Right. It's always something to gain. Yeah. Yeah. But yes, John first. I remember I've not to cut your off. John first was a big study. And we got to it. So yeah, we really have time to keep into the meaning of it. Because at the beginning it was the word. And with the word, we got to create it. Except two things that didn't make the words you and the 10 commandments.
But good. Yeah, I mean, it's pretty clear from both the old and the New Testament. I mean, the Old Testament points to Jesus. The Old, the New Testament points back on the Judeo-Christian worldview that was pointing forward back then. And so I mean, it's pretty clear that he's believed to be God. I mean, the New Testament authors take Old Testament passages that are all about. I mean, if you were to go ask Isaiah, who's this about? He would say, this is about Yahweh. But then you have Mark who's taking that same passage and applying it to Jesus. I mean, he's saying, this is Jesus. Right. But anyhow, I... No, no, no. I mean, we, the good things, let's say, we know how we have differences. Yeah. Nobody can call it a new thing, God. I think it's we have the truth. We think you have the truth. He said, do you think that truth? So everybody thought, but the good things about us all, we worship God.
Yes. If you worship God that's here enough. Well, we can... You can't even... One mess of God. Jesus said, and I'm not to cut you off. But we were talking about Abraham. He's a said in John 8.58, before Abraham was born, I am. And he's pointing back to the book of Exodus. And he says... And he says, unless he goes on to say in another passage in John, he says, unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins. So it goes much more beyond just believing in one God. No, it is. Let me give you an example. You're not going to. But let me give you an example. Okay. So I just believe in God, right? I see this guy, I'm just going to kill him. I believe in God. Where am I going? There's two ways to go. We go to hell, we go to heaven. If you believe in God, then we do believe in God. Okay, if you believe in that, then we're in the same place. We're a color human being. And you are...
Committing the sin and the eyes of God, because he is a... So exactly, so I was going to get to that, right? So if you believe the heaven and hell, which is good, so then, all right, if you said, just going back to the way you're pointing, if you said, all right, what was I believing in God, that's it? And he said, that's not it. Well, he was an example. As long as I believe in God, I can go and kill anybody here, I'm fine. No, no, no, no. I can steal, I'm fine, right? What did you say? But what? No, no, not because I could do that. I said, we believe in God. Yeah. Because He is the creator. Yeah. Of everything, on earth and earth. But we are fellow. We got saying, sent to Prophet Muhammad, and this book, Qur'an. Sometimes, for example, the prayers, the Prophet Muhammad, receive from God to tell us how to play.
Okay. And how many times, right, per day, this is not enough. You have to get rid of these. So, let me ask your question, who died for our sins? Was it Prophet Muhammad? Was it a good, who died for our sins on the cross? Was it Jesus or Prophet Muhammad? No, I see. No, it's not. You are responsible on your sin. That's not what your book doesn't even agree with that. It says, no bearer of a burden can bear the burden of another. Jesus didn't have the burden of sin. Even in your book, it says that Jesus was sinless. So, Jesus is still... No, it says Jesus. Yes, it does. I don't know. It says, there's a hadith that comes from your Prophet. Well, hadith, all kinds of hadith. So, now you... Authentic hadith, there is not... Is Bikari, is it authentic? Is it a gift? No, no, no, no. No, Bikari. You were just pointing to the hadith and now all of a sudden they're not good. No, we look for the hadith because it's trans... You know, people are human beings, they translate it to the Jews.
And they take it far away from that place. And some of them, they say differently. They... No, I agree. Yes. They say that he didn't do... Bikari died in 835. He didn't even see Muhammad, much less Jesus. They did the stuff for the hadith and we read the hadith. This are all the same hadiths, like in different... But Bikari is called Sahiab Bikari. It's sound... Hadith, that's what the word Sahi means. It's sound, it's reliable. So, that's what I'm giving you. You're rejecting your own sources. No, no. That doesn't mean all the hadith coming from the hadith. Because he is the other group of shia. You can go to suna.com and it's there. I mean, either it's the suna or it's not. So, you're a general question. Do you believe in this? So, you go back to the sin. Yeah. If you come with the sin, why Jesus is responsible on you?
And he'll heal you from this. When you are committed, we think all people are on the day of resurrection, day of judgment. They go and will be looked into each individual. Yes. And what he did, what he did. If you're sins, how to wet your back, what you're good deeds, then you'll be in hell. If you're good deeds, how to hurt sins, you go to paradise. Can I ask our question on that? So, do you believe that we sin? We're not perfect. You believe that. Oh, yeah. All three of us are equal right here. We're all sin. We're all sin. No, we are not. We are a sin. Yes, sir. So, question to you. If we are a sin, what is the weight of sin? Everybody is a sin. I give a football, speech on it.
Everybody is a sin. But you have to repent on life. And to wipe out your sin, wipe it out when you repent to that and you don't do it again. If you repent today for this, drinking that blood, which is you don't drink. If you drink that sin, so the next day your God repent may God wipe it out. And then the next day you're repeated, it doesn't help you. So, let me ask our follow-up question. So, the weight of sin is supposed to be death. Yes. Now, let me put that aside. Do you know how all of us, the dissent, who we are descendants of? Do you recall a Noah's time? What did God say? He repented of having created men. Why? Because if everything was happening, you know it's time.
He was about to wipe everything. Oh, no, no, no. Give me a second. Give me a second. Give me a second. And then he saw... Give me a second. Give me a second. And then he saw a favor amongst eight people. Noah is family. Do you know how we got here? We are descendants of the sons of Noah. Oh, Noah is the only one who was created there. But here, it's hard on how they have us all. So, we are their descendants. Yes. So, why are you killing other people? So, wait, wait, but stay with us. Why? I'm killing other people. But stay with me. So, then as a descendant of these people, we're here today. And what did God... God says his word is it. And that's it. Whatever his word says, his hands fall. Right? And so, if he had said he was going to wipe us,
and he was going to do it, he saw a favor amongst one man. That's Noah. That's why we're here. That's one reason why we're here. The second reason why we're here, where sinners sends them, we are saved. He said, the wages of our sin is death. What he says, his hands are accomplished. He was going to wipe all of us because of what they were doing. He saved everybody by just Noah's act. So, if... He's looking at the box and... Followed me. So, then, the wages of sin, he was... he's going to... he was going to wipe all of us if we didn't have a savior. If we didn't have a savior, you know what was happening when we were sending before you and I were born? There was a dove that was killed, an animal that was killed. So, shed the blood in our place. That was them. Then Jesus came and wiped all of that. The accuser might be in the savior of mankind, which he said he was.
And so, he let himself die to take our sin. Through him, we ask God for forgiveness when we sin. When I steal your stuff, when I kill somebody. So, we're still here. And so, if you don't believe Jesus and Jesus. No, I believe in Jesus. Okay, but... I believe he's a prophet. That's a different Jesus. So, but if you believe Jesus, the Son of God, it does not exist. Then he really did not wake up Lazarus' daughter from the dead. Then he really didn't heal the blind. You're excusing all of that. Yeah, yeah. All of you have foundations wrong. Because you say Adam, you know, I go back and take you to Adam. Yeah. Adam is a sinner. He ate the apple or sometimes I call it. So, was there death in... And God talked and not to do it. Yeah. But he did it. Yeah. And then what the punishment was for him.
He has got to forgive him. Was there death in paradise? Yeah. Was there death in paradise before the fall? No. So, there was no death in paradise before the fall. No. But after the fall, there is death. My friend, I think that's what we're trying to get in your head here. That's how serious this is. So, it is. Yeah. No, no, there's no serious. And then he was in the heaven. Who was? No. No? No, what? No, what wasn't heaven? Yes. No. And that's the difference. No. He was in heaven when he committed sin by eating the apple. You're talking about Adam. Adam, Adam. Yeah, that's okay. Adam. I got sent into the earth. Okay. And that's when he expanded. We said, we said the idea that... When you say expand that, what did you mean by that? Stripes from tribes. And nations to know each other.
To know each other, not to go each other. Right. But I think you... Peace be upon you. When I think of Adam, it's a little bit different. Right? If you were Adam, it would be different. Why do we think... Adam, I'm going to Adam. Right. I'm sorry. What's your name? What's your name? Adam. Okay. So I think you have used Adam of Adam and Eve. It's a little bit different. Here's my view of it. And I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm not saying I'm right. But we are in what we are because of what happened there. That's right. Right? When God... What happened? He gave the man his own curse. The woman his own curse. Or happens now when she's given birth. He's exactly what he said. What he said, his hands are accomplished. He does say that in the Bible. His word, he accomplishes. What he did to the curse of the woman, isn't that what we see now? The curse of you and I, isn't that what we see now? We work hard until we're labor. That's right. Right? So, but after that, what did he do to...
Let's go away from Adam and go to his son, Kane. What did he do to Kane after Kane killed his brother? He could have wiped him off here. Did he... No. Kane asked for forgiveness. And he got it. And able, he should have done differently. And so, this is cascaded down to us, as sinners, and having had a savior. The rest of the Bible is filled with that kind of stuff. I mean, it's just murdered. Bless you, my friend. Thank you for talking with me. The conversation. It's always... Yes. There is differences and we have to admit that it's differences. Yes. But something to bring us together is the worship of God. If you ever find somebody to talk with me, I'm always up for a respectful debate. But what this young man right here is just talking to you. Thank you. Bless you. Bless you. I love the camera. Are you okay with being on camera? I didn't want to get you in trouble. Is your job okay? Yes.
