If you blame footy lives on listener, thanks to McDonald's and Reemhor order.
Triple M rocks footy from the city of Sydney.
They flake that huge bangers.
Every hit, try and tackle from Las Vegas.
Oh, no, hey, hey, rock!
He's getting ready for the show now.
For McDonald's and Reemhor'd want Triple M a rock footy.
Ah, hello and welcome to a legend stadium as Triple M rocks the football.
The Sunday Sinbin, a head off round one of the Telstra Premiership.
The Cowboys taking on Newcastle, then St. George Ilewira versus the Canary Bulldogs.
Hello, I'm Ben Dolman along with James Graham, Luke Carey, Brent Reen.
The Sunday Sinbin for the first two hours.
And then obviously, round one of the Telstra Premiership.
We have everything lined up for you this afternoon.
James Graham, my dear friend, hello.
Oh, plain, hungry fat.
Please, it's early.
It's early.
It's early.
What's been going on the past week?
Because we've been divided.
And now you want to bring us all back together.
Sit down.
You're ready.
Sit down.
Brett Reed, very good afternoon.
No, I've had a very quiet week.
I'm looking forward to it ending with a bang today.
I've been tucking myself in a bed nice nearly.
Barely had a drink, as you know.
That's not true.
That is not true.
Haven't got any of the tables, Dolbo.
That's not true.
I'm pumped for a big dinner with Dolbo.
Actually, I did bump into Jimmy Graham one night at the Julie Piano bar.
Yes, we did.
He was in pineapple.
Oh, he's been in pineapple.
Anyway.
Hey, can I just say to everybody listening to us on Trouble and Sunday Sinbin.
You are now a regular.
The great James Cooper.
He's no longer here.
Then we had Buzz.
Well, he retired.
You legend buzz.
Michael Chambers is the next bloke in there.
He decided to take a better gig.
So you know what?
Hey!
I'm the stupid Fred Brewery of the show.
Well, that way, man.
I've been there.
I've been there.
I've been there.
I've been here.
Well, I'm a board.
No gaudy to start the dinner.
So we bring in Luke Kearry, who joins Trouble and RL this year.
Luke Kearry.
A very warm welcome to the Sinbin.
I don't know if you know what you've got.
He's still alive.
What is happening here?
James goes bouncing off his wall.
It's pumped up, isn't he?
Yep.
Hey, boys.
There is.
We're just about to get this certainly game underway.
Charlie White, our roving sideline high.
He's down with the whole KR fans.
Down here.
Checker on the sideline.
Boys is incredible.
I'm in the stand with all the whole KR fans.
I'm with Joel Boulson who's blown all the way from Harvard.
How exciting are you mate?
Schoolista, Youth ولا,
…
Hey, it's Incredible there about us, singing the song
a little respect.
Yeah.
But Joel, you've been to a couple years in a row,
whole KR's on fire, how special is our week made for him hey?
Oh.
Again, there's just been politics, I can certainly talk about how good we are, like 40s ago, we haven't been on a track for 40 years, we've been out for our last four months.
And to come to Vegas as well, it's just face maintenance.
Would you like to see the NRL by the Super League, made it to help get to the next level?
I think so, I think we need something to happen.
We've got too much service, and obviously what volume is this going to be in NRL?
I think it's like, come to different levels, isn't it? So, let's try and jump on it.
Get ready for this boys, when the two come down, are they going to start singing this song?
They go feral, they go mental, here we go.
I'll put it just a little respect by your arrangements, it's the anthem of OKR.
Here we go. We might just have a fly on it too, we can get this.
There's a different song, this is where Wolf Kingston robbers.
So, the Super League game about to get underway leads,
versus the Holkinson Rovers, the World Champion, Holkinson Rovers,
we will give you an update throughout the course of that.
Thank you to Charlie White, the Roving White, and I'll show.
He's out of thousands, skewers this week.
That's a huge batland.
What are the chickens?
Here we go, now here's this song, we'll fly this up.
Down to you, Charlie.
It's on now, wow.
This is crazy.
I'm so in love with you.
This is awesome, this is what the English fans bring.
I think we need to adopt this, we're talking about the LLLL,
5-2-3, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game, that's the game.
Right, we've had enough of this.
You're not in the same way, stop it, sorry.
I just love it and I won't start to pick off these songs over.
It's all part of the business.
It's all part of the show.
Okay, this is a Sunday, it's been on Trouble M, and we've got the Super League game underway.
Let's start.
Luke Keri, how's your week been?
It's been good.
It's been, I've been sending it a desert.
It's been 14 minutes out of Vegas.
At the 9th, I've been teaching the LLL Rooster's Dines thing.
No good news, we should say that LL displays red cos yet girls got a done.
Just surgery is playing milleeboys, were you coaching both teams?
No, strangely, John Strangels was coaching.
Did the boys did well at pre-relimest today.
Dave Feeder and Kirk Skott did a few pure lies, boys beat him in the end, but it was good vibes.
As good as bats.
We weren't taught about 12-30, well thank you.
Nick was out there, Thursday, February 10am, till four pm both days.
He loves that Nick Belidus.
It's been a good week, Tobbo. It's always a good week here.
I've been every year, it gets bigger and better in this year.
With the whole KR fans, the leads, the Bulldogs fans, who've come here
on mass dragons fans. It's been amazing. It's been amazing.
It's been amazing week, Tobbo.
Yeah, it certainly. James Graham, I've had the pleasure of being with you all week.
Here's your week. Look, there's some things you've got to endure as part of work.
And some of that is in and around spending time with you.
Ben.
Look, I travel with my children, I travel with you, a 50 year old man.
And let me say this categorically speaking, it is easier to deal with children
than it is with you, even going to a restaurant.
Right? This is...
We went to a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles, and oh my goodness me.
The amount of stupid questions being asked by this man.
Do you find asking the waitress a question on the menu?
I quite want to ask them, yeah, what do you recommend?
What's your favorite? What is it? It's not your dish.
I'm not saying that. I'm not saying no question.
I'm not saying what was he asking? All sorts of nonsense about it.
I can imagine you would be able to win that.
Talk about stupid questions. We're on our way to free-mode street.
Obviously last Vegas, you know, there's the haves on the have-knots.
So we went driving through in a new bag, and Tobbo's asking the Uber driver
all these crazy questions. I just asked what the average Ryan fall was.
I want to let you ask, what's the average driver?
I'm a farmer.
I want to know what the average driver
will do.
Two inches more.
He's a local man.
He's a local man.
We're going through this area.
And look, there was some people that clearly have overdone it
and looked in it.
It'll help.
And Dolby was the Uber driver.
Is this a rough area?
It's like, Dolby, look outside.
It was a bike.
It was in a bad way.
He was in a bad way.
I should bring up.
And James and Luke Kiri, I need your input on this.
And we will get the talking football shortly.
We're live from a legend stadium.
Someday, Simbin, we're back for another year.
I'm of the belief that you driving here today, Brent Reed,
with another journalist, Michael Cariannis, asked him to pull over.
He refused to pull over.
When he did pull over, a police officer has come up
the behind and booked Michael Cariannis.
And you said, hang on, you said,
well, I've got nothing to do with this.
And this is your doing.
I am of the belief.
That's not entirely correct.
What happens when we're in a cab?
Right.
And I said to the poor cab driver, hey, we need to get out.
They're going to go and do a radio show.
Yeah.
He said, I can't pull over here.
Because I'm a police right in front of us.
We said, mate, we're in a hurry.
So he said, all right, pull over.
Get out real quick.
So we got out, got pulled up behind him, booked him.
That's close.
Very close to, do you not know who I am?
Yeah, yeah.
Did you say you did not?
Did you not?
I didn't pay the fee.
No, I had to get on the show, got caught.
You were so miserable.
He's working for nothing today.
He got pissed because of you.
You know who I am.
I have to do a radio show.
Well, the pop was with him a long time, too.
He might be the lock.
Go on down.
We're not going through that.
We're not going through that.
Yeah.
All right.
No score leads, OKR, foregone in the first half.
Big crowd on hand at a legend stadium.
We've got a huge afternoon of rugby league,
wherever you are listening to us across Australia
or on the listener app.
We will keep you updated with these scores
and everything that goes on this afternoon.
We're going to get to Newcastle very shortly in the first game.
But the best thing about this look, Keri, in your opinion,
and what has grown over the last three years?
Yeah, it was also the year 2024, the first year.
It's doubled the size.
Yeah. I couldn't believe it when I turned up on Tuesday,
then Wednesday, and there's just the amount of jerseys.
I think the English have brought a whole new dimension to it.
Yeah, you did right.
Being crazy, crazy.
But just the way the NRL have done it,
they've taken over bars as I'll read that St. George have.
The Newcastle took over hard rock by It is an aus.
A once in a lifetime experience for a lot of these fans.
Yeah, they're making memories, aren't they?
They'll remember this for the rest of their lives, the fans.
And also the players, as well as an experience for the players
to come to Las Vegas, Nevada, and experience everything
that comes with the city of Las Vegas.
But in terms of how far we've come,
I remember when it was first announced,
and I just thought, oh, I'll believe it when I see it,
the fair share.
Maybe there's a few teething problems, naturally speaking,
you know, you're figuring out how it's all going to work.
But they've led their lessons from that.
Built on it, brought a super league over last year,
and it seems to be going north, radio.
It seems to get bigger and better each and every season.
You're spot-on to me when you say when they first said
they were going to do this.
I think we all look to Peter Valandes, who's a visionary, right?
It's amazing for the game we thought.
This is a bridge too far for it for him.
We've heard it before.
I mean, similar things spoke about that never come to fruition.
So what is, I mean, they're going to make about $2 million profit
out of Las Vegas this year.
It's grown exponentially.
I mean, the introduction of the English teams
was a master striker last year.
And they've got a five-year deal here.
They've got two more years left in that deal.
And I'd be surprised they'll leave Las Vegas,
but they're going to expand and play more games
in other areas.
But they can't leave Las Vegas.
But this is just too good of an experience for the fans,
the players, the Houston Jimmy,
and it's just fantastic for the game.
Brady, when you say they make $2 million profit,
where's that actually come from?
Because it's obviously their flying 14,
but there's a whole lot of expense.
How are they making that?
Well, there's obviously a limit on how many people they fly out of it.
I think it's 42 with each club.
They have charter flights.
They'll, I think they'll, they'll, they'll be merged.
They'll be merging it.
Merch is going to be single.
We've got sold out this week.
The month, I think they have five, they have five charter flights this year.
Previous years, I'm pretty sure they've only had one or two.
Yeah.
So they've made a lot of money through that.
Obviously, sponsorship, they get money from the Nevada tourism to play here.
And the super league itself is here to come in part.
And like being able to broadcast this game
back into England as well,
that's made them a bit of money from a righteous visit.
Look, there's so many fans here.
We've seen it this week.
And I mean, that's just a, I'll win full for the game.
Well, we'll also, we win the battle of the season.
We launched up with the rival code of AFL.
Like everybody in Australia wants to know
about what's going on in Vegas,
compared to the AFL that have their opening round,
which is all great.
But we significantly win the battle of eyeballs
and in terms of bums on C tiering in the last figure.
So that's a big tick, a big win for us.
But really, you mentioned there about tourism last Vegas,
paying the NRL to come.
That's now where we're at.
So we know sports is big business.
And we know tourism is big business.
So you bring sporting teams or competitions to your city.
You're going to bring that revenue in.
You know, if there's 40,000, 30,000 people here from overseas
that are all spending five, six, seven, eight thousand dollars on average,
that adds up that that's where if it for any tourist board to consider
and putting a substantial bid in,
I can't get over what Fremont Street was.
So if I'm honest, I went there the first year and we were there
and we've been there ready every year.
But that was quite spectacular.
That's the biggest Fremont Street I've ever seen
from that perspective on Thursday night.
I didn't go there double Thursday night.
I didn't know. I went last year.
What happened?
I had something.
Oh, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it.
It was 2016, it was 360 was on.
So we couldn't go, but we obviously saw the footage.
But I've heard it, it's the crowd anywhere between 16,000 and 30,000.
The 30,000 is a bit extreme on 60.
I don't think it was 30,000, I think.
But the 16,000 sounds about right from what I saw, what people told me.
And again, that's just another thing that did really well last year.
Fremont Street.
And it's just going to another level this year.
They, the annual learn stuff every year, right?
Every that learns something and the next year gets better.
Well, the first year, we noticed the number of English fans that were here.
And it was just the two NRL games that were on display.
But the English fans thought, well, fly to America to experience NRL.
Get a little bit of a holiday.
And then, yeah, it was a bit eye opening.
Wasn't it for everybody?
I think around 5,000 English fans came with no team to support.
Yeah, they were there the whole time.
Like the first year, they were there.
They wanted it.
So the master's truck has been bringing them in.
And look, obviously, the Nines as well.
There's mixed reports on the Nines.
But, you know, I still, I stood the first year.
I mean, we had a meeting a couple days before we left.
Someone from the NRL came in.
And they basically said, just bear with us here.
Like this, we, no one's really been there.
We don't know what's going to happen.
Could be start with.
We had no training fields up.
People were trained all over.
So we were in LA.
I think South Sweden, San Diego.
It was, honestly, it was a mess, but like a, a good mess.
And then I promise you are, it feels like a grand final today.
Yeah, you've got your board there.
All your fans are there.
You know how much it means.
Like, take the Bulldogs, for example,
how much they have spent on this trip.
Oh, huge.
And as a player, you feel a responsibility to that.
And it make or break your trip.
But they have come.
So they have come so far.
I agree with that.
It's a huge success.
And look, you know, there's four teams, obviously,
going to be there next year.
We, there's five teams.
Well, there's actually six teams eligible in next year.
Be Perth Bears.
But I would suspect that they are not going to be one of the sides.
The Dolphins are very confident.
Leeds look like they're about to score here.
They're just being brought down two meters from the trial line.
No score.
Nine gone.
And they get a reset six.
I think Melbourne and Power of Matter are pretty confident.
Two double.
Yeah.
So that would mean that they're not going to play two Queensland teams.
You would not think.
Leeds have just scored.
So Leeds score.
And they're going to try first up.
Makasivo in the corner.
The former Paramata legend.
He's, uh, we've been seeing around.
He hasn't lost any size.
Micah.
So he scores Leeds for Hulkingston Rovers.
No score.
Uh, so just quickly on next year,
he and and we'll get to that.
You, you know, Dolphins are confident.
No, but a confident Paramata confident.
That means West Tigers in the Titans and the Perth Bears.
Now, uh, if with no fan base.
As such, you're not going to bring Perth over here
because you're not going to have a traveling base in that.
We shouldn't bring Perth over.
The first game back in the course.
It has to be in Perth.
Yeah.
You can't play for me.
You can't play with this.
Yeah.
The Titans would like to be here as well.
Leeds, I mean, we're back.
We're back from Brazil's support of this every year.
Yeah.
They come every year.
And if the length of the Frank La Pranky was here this year,
he was reconnaissance.
Now, the cup of Tigers officials here as well.
Scoping out our words.
And what they'll have to do if they come.
I think we'll know where to be soon, don't I?
Yeah.
We've already got our foot submissions in.
Um, I expect the rest will get a response reasonably soon.
We're going to take a break.
We're going to start talking a bit of football up next.
This is the Sunday Sin Bin on Triple M.
We're double down on the NRL season watch.
Two big games from Mustangs.
From McDonald's and Reemhub Water.
Triple M rocks footing.
Yeah, welcome back to Allegiance Stadium.
The Sunday Sin Bin, Luke Carey, Brent Reed, James Graham,
Ben Dove, and no gaudy this week.
Gaudy's obviously commitments with Fox Sports.
Charlie White is stalking the sidelines.
We'll get to him a bit later.
Leeds six whole Kingston Rovers,
Neil at the moment.
As in Michael C. Bay scores another try.
A great try.
So they'll put Leeds at 10, Neil, over a hole.
And Michael C. Bay bringing back to the NRL up.
They're looking at those two performances.
Boys, let's unpack the Newcastle Cowboys game.
And I suppose the big surprise around Newcastle
was firstly Dylan Brown being named
in the number seven Jersey Fletcher shot.
Now Justin Holbrook spoke to us yesterday
on the Saturday scrum where he said,
look, you could have played Fletcher at Fulber.
He, you know, he wasn't really sure.
He was very blazer about what I said in the smith.
Wasn't the seven in Dylan Brown.
Look here, I'll start with you,
who played in one premierships in the halves.
As you know, this game better than most.
How big a difference is it when I think
Brown's played 12 games at seven in his career.
How big a difference is it wearing a different number set
to seven in the six?
Yeah, it depends who you're with.
Depends, depends on the combination.
No, what, what your heart's partner does,
but it is a big difference.
Like Dylan's best footie has been as a left-sided 5-8,
playing short sides and running the ball.
We've seen him in the Pacific Champions League here.
Was awesome.
Probably the best he's played in in a couple of seasons.
But Maddie John's the other night.
He spoke about don't change for the number, you know,
just perform and then it'll happen.
But the issue with it is like Fletcher Sharp cannot kick.
Ponga can, to an extent.
Yep.
But Dylan has to think about on fourth tackle.
I just can't take his right hand short side
down there and get a stuck on the right hand side.
And I'm a right foot kicker.
Or where do I want the third tackle to go
so I can set up for last play?
Like Dylan now has to think about all this.
When he has Mitch Moses with him,
Keir and Foreign with him, he doesn't have to think about anything
other than who's in front of me.
Can I beat him?
Can I combine with someone to score a tribut?
And that's going to be different.
And people say I've spoken a lot about 6 and 7.
The only time I think it's not applicable is a Melbourne store
when you have a Cameron Smith or a Harry Green.
Yeah.
And they're basically the conductor,
Hughes and Munster, but are both running halves
and they can just do what they want.
I think when Justin Holbrook took over at Newcastle Nights,
one of the first issues he would have had on his
to-do list would have been figure out who my 6 and 7 is
and made them work in the preseason.
Figure out some different combinations.
A try awarded here.
That is a...
That's a dodgy decision.
Yeah, say that's what he's not the ball on.
The referees have had a look at this.
But it will be late 10.
How can...
How can I add Neil?
Yeah, anyway, back to Newcastle.
They've struggled to nail down a genuine hearts combination.
They've not known who it is.
And obviously, when they signed Dylan Brown,
originally it was going to be as a 7.
But we...
Every observer of football knows
that Dylan plays his best football in the number 6.
Because as Luke highlighted,
there are some differences that we can all appreciate.
But then when you dive into the thought of Luke,
here you can see there's some nuanced differences as well around
what goes through the mind of the half back
and play three into four, four into five.
How you've got to change on the run.
And anytime Dylan's been given that role in the paramatter jersey
when he's had to fill in for Mitchell Moses,
I think it's fair to say that it's not bought out the best in him.
So, big call from Holbrook.
I just hope that they get some time
as a combination to work through
some potential rusty periods.
I think I said, yes, I think Karl and Pongerer run the team.
I think that's the logical thing, right?
Is it the back?
You can see everything unfold.
You know better than me.
I mean, Luke, how much can he run the team from full back?
But maybe when an attack in the line,
he comes up and plays five, eight.
Fletcher sharp goes back to full back.
Wood's paused me through in the game.
Those guys switched positions.
Karl's played some six in the past.
Obviously had their head knocks moved back to full back
and Fletcher sharps are going full back.
So, I can see them during this game,
switching positions.
Karl and B more control, more dominant, more vocal.
And that takes the pressure off,
still and brown potentially.
That is a good point, ready?
I reckon we will see them swap.
But the big thing for me,
Karl and he didn't train the whole entire preseason.
So, Fletcher sharp train at full back,
sand and train at seven.
I reckon, I'm pretty sure Justin wanted sand and a seven
and had him as a seven up until about seven days ago.
Yeah, until that second trial.
Well, really, I disagree with it
because I think what you're doing there
is complicating things.
And for this new combination to work,
I think you need to simplify things,
especially as we start the season.
You know, with the Newcastle Knights
as they're figuring things out,
I think thinking outside the box like you are
about switching positions, I think.
And that's why I'm surprised,
Sand and Smith isn't playing because
I think he simplifies things.
And what you're talking about there
potentially over complicates the situation.
But you mean, I suppose if it's not working
sand on a bit, we'll be on the bench.
Yeah, sure.
I mean, after that trial,
after that trial last week,
I he left the gap in defense.
Fair to go, I could have run through it.
I can't.
But you're talking there about sand and Smith being on the bench.
There can be no way he comes on to the field
and play six or seven as a struggle.
One of the things I'm working to be.
What if it's not working?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
But the problem I've got is just said,
to me, is the concern for Newcastle?
If I understand trial form is obviously the gauge.
But if you've done all your preseason
with Sand and Smith and Dylan Brown together in the halves
and one bad game,
you're going to flick the switch and make the change.
Well, not even one back the gap.
It was a trial.
I'm sure it was a trial.
Yeah, he must have done it.
Well, you just said, we just heard from Luke.
He's trained, he's trained, he's trained,
it's already all back.
It's fully flits the sharp,
had some reps, reps in the halves of Dylan Brown.
True in that period.
Yeah, I obviously don't know the full extent of it,
but he trained it full back for the majority of the preseason.
And so there's panic stations with Justin now.
Is it each first game?
It's a bit early to be called.
I'm telling you, what would suggest panic stations
is if they adopt greedy strategy of potentially changing that off?
Jimmy, if it's not, if it's not working, what if that is a good point?
That is a good point.
It's not working, but it's not changing.
Because you've got to give these,
this come out more than 60 minutes.
Well, then, well, then, if that's the case,
why did he do that in the trial after the trial?
I know what you're saying,
but why didn't he, if that's the right theory,
it would be because if, if after 60 minutes or 40 minutes
or whatever it's not working,
then that's your time for him.
So when Sandin Smith comes in and it doesn't work again,
potentially, you're going to just change things around again.
He won't do that tonight, Reed,
but I can see that point of,
I reckon Justin sat there after that second trial and gone.
Let's be honest, they don't have the pack
to dominate in the middle, right?
Respectfully, so that he's gone,
I need my best attacking weapons on the field,
Brown, Ponga Sharp,
and he's probably gone,
let's just figure it out on the run.
Well, that is considered.
He told us yesterday, he said,
no one person will run the show out there.
The three of them will run it together,
take turns running,
since when he told us yesterday, so it's the whole point
the finger elsewhere,
then I think you need someone to take responsibility.
With this team that's a wooden spoon team,
let's not forget that.
They need someone to say,
this is mine.
I'm running the show.
Come with me.
Here's what we're going to do.
Like it's going to be a dominant god to me.
I'm sure they're not just going to throw around willy-nilly.
I'm sure there's going to be going to be a dominant voice
in that situation.
So let's say there's a play five miss-happ, right?
And we have that strategy of,
oh, everybody gets a little touch kicking
and well, whose responsibility was it?
Oh, I thought you were going to have that one.
Yeah, when he speaks those words, Justin,
I know as a player, he's speaking to his own team
and he's trying to take the pressure off Dylan.
Because he knows, let's be honest,
he hasn't handled being in number seven,
and that's fine.
Oh, I agree with that.
I was very similar.
Like it wasn't, it's not a comfortable thing
for a natural six to do it.
So I think Justin's saying,
no, no, Dylan, you're not the boss,
but he wants him to be,
but he doesn't want him to feel the pressure of being the boss.
It's a messy situation.
It's a messy situation.
If Sandham was the key
and he just hasn't got himself,
he hasn't got himself right.
Well, it's an interesting thing.
He took no Leo Thompson.
They did bring Tray Mooney
in over the offseason from Canberra.
Now I understand like he's not Leo Thompson.
I'm with respect with it.
But with Cyphe and Frazel and Tray Mooney
and you'll Fenix Croslin there.
And then Mr. Mame Kewan,
who, you know, they've got big rap song.
Like Dylan Lucas.
Dylan Lucas is a good boy.
This pack, this pack has to stand up this afternoon.
I mean, they're against a cowboys side
that has a real point to prove
and we'll get to the cowboys a little later.
But they bring back,
obviously he'll and Lukey back into that side.
Read money that from all reports
has made a huge difference
culturally and just, you know, around there.
But it doesn't matter who controls the show,
who runs the show.
It's the four pack can't hold their own.
They're going to get dominated anyway.
There's a bit of a whisper going around.
Maybe Tray Mooney starts off the bench
just so it gives them a bit of punch after 20 minutes.
He comes into the action.
But I mean, that forward pack, they just need to,
they just need to stand up tonight.
Otherwise, it doesn't matter who you have, though.
They've got a scrap, don't they?
Look, respectfully speaking,
when we look at Newcastle last season,
I thought they defended really well for the beginning.
Or maybe the first two thirds of the season
and then they fell off a cliff a little bit.
So they could turn off for one other.
They could do the hardest part of the game really well
for decent periods there.
It was there attack that
required some change and some inspiration.
And obviously with Pong and missing for a certain amount of time.
But they've lost obviously some key forwards there.
But they've just got to scrap.
Maybe it's all this talk about the halves
and who's running the show.
It's, we've just got to make that a scrap.
Scrap our way to victory.
Brody Croft's just scored for Leeds.
The former Brisbane Bronco and Melbourne stormplier.
So Brody Croft, the Leeds are out.
There was 16 Neal Leeds with 18 to go in the first half.
It's Triple M. Roxy Putty.
The Clippard, we know Tom Didan is a lead.
Are you surprised, Luke Erie, that they've gone with Jay Clippard?
I mean, he's a bit of a journey.
He's a lovely, lovely, great footballer.
But that combination didn't bear fruit last year,
like they thought.
I understand the young halves,
but it's interesting on Todd.
It's a, to me, it's a very conservative approach.
Yeah, I think he would have,
he played even that first roll out of Storma.
Yeah.
Against the Dragons, and he gave him the first shot,
and Todd said it before the game.
He said, I'm going to give Jay the first 40 minutes,
and Jackson per do the second 40.
Yeah.
And Jay was out standing again.
He's 29 years old.
He's been through a hell of a lot.
Yeah.
I ran into Blake Green this morning,
and he said, this is his chance.
And I think Blake Green's going to help him a lot.
Blake's a very, even, I was with Cooper this morning,
he said, mate, he's such a smart,
Blake is such a smart footballer.
I reckon it's going to help him by a 29 years of old age.
This is his year.
He's got Tom Didan there,
who's one of the best halves in the game.
Like, he just, and he's got such a good kicking game.
Just control the team.
They're walking a bit of a tight route there with Jackson
per do.
He hasn't done a new deal yet.
He's off contract at the end of the year.
They've made a big offering.
He hasn't taken it yet,
and then put him in the centers.
Yeah, I don't think he's going to go.
I mean, he's from a guy.
I don't even want to play in the halfroom.
He's played in the halfroom.
He's played in the half.
His whole career is a kid.
Tilly went to, and last year, obviously,
they chopped and changed him a little bit,
but he would like to play in the halves as well,
because that's his preferred position,
but I mean, you're not going to play dead next to it.
I mean, you know, as a general, right?
We could play it, play the football.
Yeah, I know.
He's a player, everybody will.
But he's a, but he's a,
is it preferable?
He's a better set.
He's seven to nine.
It's a nice, right?
He's playing the right side.
It's a right side.
It's a right side.
They're done that because they can into change.
Yeah.
Jake and Jackson, but he played for Queensland at seven.
Yeah.
I think it's pretty handy.
Seven.
It is.
I want to see Todd go.
If Todd has to make a change there,
it's probably, yeah, there's a drama.
I think again, I'd like to see this combination
given some time.
I put, I understand that the pressure that's on Peyton,
and I think it doesn't have time.
So I think, you know,
double use of the word, a more conservative approach.
I think it's a safer approach.
Yeah.
Because it's just about getting two points here.
It's not about shooting the lights out here in Las Vegas.
And it's just about getting the two points
because we know round one,
against last year's Morgan Spooners.
They don't come away with a W today.
The noise is, forget this right away.
The noise is going to die.
Look, it really isn't the earth.
I think that's why they've gone at a safer,
it's less risky.
They've just got to get the two points.
But any means necessary.
I was talking to people close to the club
that I have North Queensland.
And they said, look, we put every,
like bringing Blake Green there,
your mate Wellens in there.
They've put some really good assistance around Todd Peyton.
So there's no excuse.
I mean, yes, Chester was out all of last year
with an ACL.
Yeah, he'll I'm lucky.
A big edge forward like that.
It's a huge loss.
They've cleared the decks.
They've got some young lights coming through.
I think Sonny looks a really good acquisition.
But who's under more pressure do you think from the coaches?
And I know we're not even getting to round one.
But Justin Holbrook is tacking on a,
like Newcastle have an expectation as well.
Like, is Justin under pressure regardless
or is he going to be given time?
No, he gets time job.
Todd is under multiple pressure than Justin Holbrook.
I mean, the Cow was a review in the off season.
Yeah, you don't do that if you're confident in the coach, right?
No, they're every team.
Have you got faith?
No, they did a proper review.
Like a review or a whole six ways?
I suppose to have.
Was it a company job?
Was it a company job?
It's a review.
You have to put your name down.
A review.
Was those assistants a force change from above Todd
or did Todd go, I need to change my stuff?
Well, I assume Todd did.
Because I can't imagine that of course,
coaching on him, right?
But I don't just am all going to be there a long time.
So I think there was a view that maybe some change
takes place.
But I mean, he's under immense pressure Todd.
We all know that, right?
I mean, he does not much runway.
And especially what's the standard time frame?
Well, they say 8 to 10, 8 to 10.
I hate to say this, but today's game brown one
against last year's Wooden Spooners.
Like, on questions, we'll be asked if you can't beat these guys,
after you have had the whole off season to work on your defence.
I guess we're going to see, we're going to observe
the Cowboys' enthusiasm for defence,
which at times they seem to lack last season.
Yeah, they were aside that Wooden Spooners shoot up,
basically, weren't they?
I remember a game against the Dolphins,
and their right edge, the Dolphins left edge,
were walking through and queuing up to score.
And actually, there's too many options.
They made them, they made an error.
There was four people to pass through.
I think it was.
That's how they got.
How heavy form we thought the hammer went through,
and it was like, hang on.
This is not quite right here,
because why can I see all Dolphins' jerseys and no Cowboys' jerseys?
And they made a mistake, but that's the issue for me.
And if their defence is non today,
we'll observe the performance.
We know the result matters.
Both of those are going to factor into the conversation
in and around the Cowboys over the next, you know.
What does your opinion think?
Is he competent? He's in charge of the defence.
Of course he is.
He's spoken a lot, changing a few things.
Yeah, he would have worked hard on the off season.
Have they been receptive to it?
I believe well, it's that time of the year,
double where everybody's causing everybody's up and about.
No one's defeated.
Everyone's undefeated.
So, yeah, of course, they're enthusiastic.
I love their roster.
I went, they played their full side in that last trial.
They've got four or five state of origin players.
Reed Marnie's been around state of origin.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
I mean, he's that easy as well.
They got their pack is unbelievable,
but their pack is, it's a top four pack.
So there's no excuses this year.
I'm with you there.
I'm with you.
I don't know if they're a top four pack,
but, you know, we're about making big statements.
So, well done.
You've been awarded.
We're going to take it, right?
This is the Sunday's hit middle grip live.
We're doubled down on the NRL season launch.
Two big games from Las Vegas.
From McDonald's and Reema Water,
triple amp rocks footing.
Welcome back to the Sunday's in being
live from a legend stadium.
Leeds 22 with a kick to come.
Hulk A.R. Neil Keenan-Palacea,
the former Brisbane Broncos,
Gold Coast Titans, just scoring a try.
Two dubious decisions.
We've got our hardworking sideline.
I charlie white out on the sideline.
With one of triple amp royalty.
Boys, I've got a very special gasses amount.
Well equated from Las Vegas.
It's called the first game of Fox League.
The second game for triple amp Danganane, how are you, my friend?
I'm a bit nervous, not about the game,
but every year here in Vegas at this point,
how do I get from level 200 from Fox?
Up to level 400 triple amp.
Now I missed the first five minutes
in the first year, and I just made it for the second year.
So I've did set, spent the last hour and 15 minutes,
and I'm not bullshitting, an hour and 15 minutes,
going through all the, it's a,
tell each time I'll ever compare myself to Rabs,
because this is what Rabs would have done.
He would have spent more time worrying about
this reconnaissance in the actual game.
I've gone through all the possibilities
of using the elevator, and there's only one elevator
you can use, because they shut the elevators for the coaches.
And now there's a staircase, but I've got to go a certain way,
and then I've got to go to a certain door
and ask for some, it's a whole world.
But we'll make it, and we'll be there for the second game
on triple amp, Cana Bredson, Georgia, LaLora.
I'm looking forward to that, because the dragon should have beaten
the dogs last time, so I don't care who wins,
but I just hope it's nice and close.
Well, it's really important you get here on time down,
because we know if Ben takes over into the second game,
he is going to invoice him that everybody here at triple amp
doesn't want to see that.
It's a message from the top, so make sure you get all the dog.
Mate, I'm a bit worried.
I was listening to some of the bans in the ad break.
A lot of negativity already.
It's week one.
It's week one. Come on, we're in Las Vegas.
We're in the world's playground.
By the way, Jimmy, who do we hate less here?
Leads or Hulk?
Because I don't know who to go for here.
I'll go for whoever you hate less.
Oh, no, I hate leads the most.
They are.
That's a tough guy every so.
Yeah, I'm cheering for Hulk.
I even have the losing 24 now.
Tough to heck.
We can't get some hells to one of these things.
I think that's coming.
Okay, that's coming.
Oh, very good.
We won't have him on board that week.
I can tell you, can you imagine?
Dan, can you imagine?
His performance doesn't mean that great this week.
Can you imagine if he helps and hellens are in Vegas?
No, not a chance.
Not a chance.
Not a chance.
Remember last year, Dobba was at the year before where I can't tell that story,
but we saw Jimmy and Jimmy wanted no part of a post.
Yeah, the week had got to Jimmy and broken him and I broken him.
I reckon I'm at that point too, myself.
I might get the sads with it.
I'm already doing that.
So yeah, yeah, I'm with you.
Hey, Dan, we appreciate you looking forward to obviously.
As our number one call, you'll be calling the second game.
We appreciate you.
Thanks for coming on, bro.
See, boys.
Good on you.
There we have it.
Dan, good night.
Does that hurt you to say?
Well, number one call that he's the number one call a dag of the heart for you.
No, it's it's a bit like Peter Bidilson,
I'm one journal for New Zealand in your number two.
That's just what happens.
I'll tell you that.
No, no, that's what the that's just what happens, mate.
So I understand you got to know your place.
Check that.
No, that's good.
You bought that up because you feel the same way.
You said it.
You're just going to say you know that the news of how I do that.
Everybody's like delighted for us.
We're so hard.
Dober's been trying to make for her.
Like, oh, I can't believe he's getting.
You got to look up your own in this guy.
I see those away with it.
He's over the heart.
Wait, he's still going to big fella.
20 out.
He's brought down.
Dewy's leads are making an absolute.
He caught the dropout then.
Yeah, we're unbelievable.
They're right on the attack leads.
As now, they're putting more points.
They've got numbers.
That passes forward.
But Brody Cross-Royer.
That's Ryan Hall.
They'll hit 30 by half time here.
Talk to him about the rules.
Let's talk about Super League.
James Graham, and obviously Luke Kira,
you guys have had extensive careers in that part of the world.
Should the NR all be going and trying to buy it to strengthen the game?
I'll start with you Luke, and then I'll bring you in, Gemma.
Yeah, I only spend the one near there.
I was probably a little bit too bad.
Of course I was there, by the way.
I'm actually on the way in here.
I got caught in the middle of the whole KR feds company.
And the language.
They stay just...
Some of the words they called me, I've never heard before.
Yeah, what?
At the same experience, Josh Reynolds.
Right, he played for Hall F.C.,
which is the big rival of Hall KR.
They were singing to Hall KR.
We're on a bend there.
Josh E. Reynolds is a...
That's the fact that...
That's the chance that they've got from the poor boys.
They actually sang it in front of his mum.
They thought it went over there to visit.
It's a fact to your question, Dobbo.
I would love to see it.
And not because...
To take him over and whatever.
Even Peter said it in multiple interviews.
Why can't we get our crowd singing and things like that?
They've got things that are just fantastic over there.
And they've got some...
I'm going to say administrative things.
That aren't...
That aren't up to scratch.
You can say it now. You won't get it.
They're not up to scratch.
They're not up to scratch since behind it.
But I just feel like if we can...
If those NRL administrators can get a hold of it.
Get a hold of the product.
Package it to get it with the NRL.
Get it better broadcast deal from.
Because that broadcast deal is halved.
In the last, since COVID.
I feel like it'll be such a better product.
And they've shown us in the World Club Challenge.
It's not a...
It's not a horrible...
They're not horrible teens over there.
Yeah, I'm with you.
I think it could be mutually beneficial.
So there's...
A potential partnership there that could work for both sides.
Obviously the NRL and the experience and the growth of the game
that has happened over here in Australia and New Zealand.
And across the Pacific Islands as well.
But...
So if we look at the soup league,
it needs something to change.
And in terms of Luke said it...
Perfectly.
In terms of the administration of...
Over there for too long in my opinion.
It's been governed by self-interest.
And they've not...
They've not stuck to their plan.
We talk about teams sticking to their hands with their...
Their plans with their halfbacks.
Well, the soup league have had promotion relegation.
They've had middle eights.
I was speaking with them...
The owners of the London Broncos.
And they don't know if they can come and play soup league next year.
They don't know the criteria.
There's a lot of unknown.
How did they not get...
How did they not get the elevator this year?
So they had two different types of criteria.
Who came into the competition?
They expanded the comp.
A month before or a month after the comp had finished too little time.
Although York and Bradford and Toulouse have actually done quite well.
Whether or not that can be sustained.
Remains to be seen.
For me, there's just some low hanging fruit there for the...
Sorry, if the NRL were to take over, they're going to need full control.
They're going to have to have some people make some selfless decisions
for the betterment of the game.
The low hanging fruit is in and around how the game is packaged up to the audience.
There is no midweek shows on any of the traditional or on sky television.
Like we need to see the...
Like if we think about what 100% for you NRL 360.
The new one on 7 that you're going to be a part of Luke.
That's all part of the game.
And growing the game.
And talking and debating and being passionate about what we see on a weekend.
They don't have any of that.
We're over here in Australia.
It's everywhere. The game is spoken up.
They don't have that. They need to have something like that.
And then also about what they want the game to look like.
Because, you know, in yesterday year.
It was all the super league. It's great to watch.
It's full of great attacking footies.
It's less defensive orientated.
We can actually enjoy the freedoms of the game.
Luke, you were there a couple of seasons ago.
It's not that. It's not that anymore.
The game is actually quite slow and defensive orientated.
Yeah, it's gone back.
Reminded me of how we played in 2013, 2014, 2015.
Really slow rags. It's a physical game.
And that's the thing with strength.
That big physical forwards.
But they just...
You know, you know, a major issue there.
Every decision goes to the 12 owners right.
We've got to vote on it.
And there's five or six of them that are all tied in together.
Whereas we've got Peter and Andrew standing there and going.
A commission.
Hey, Bulldogs, you're all doing this.
And that's it.
Hey, COVID, we're all going here. That's it.
Over there, it's got to be voted on like it sits.
Do you think it'll happen?
I think it has happened all by...
We need...
We need to probably played England.
For the sake of the infasible game.
We need a strong England right.
And at the moment, it can't happen with the other...
The other one's got the money.
The other one's got the expertise.
And the ridiculous thing about expanding to 14 teams.
Look, that's insanity for me.
They should be reducing number of teams in Super League.
Well, it should be 10 maps.
You know why they didn't have players to go round.
Not exactly.
Because they thought they could then sell an extra game.
And then Skyturn around and said, we don't want your extra game.
Well, they need TVL there.
TVL will be joining us very shortly.
We're going to take a break, still plenty more to get through.
The Sunday's in-ben live from Allegiant Stadium.
As the countdown to round one is not far away.
We're tumbled down on the NRL season launch.
Two big games from BuzzFings.
It's getting ready for the showdown.
From McDonald's and Reemhub Water.
Triple M rocks footing.
Welcome back to Allegiant Stadium.
As the countdown continues to round one of the Telstra Premiership.
James Graham, Ben Dolman, Luke Carey, Brent Reed.
We will be covering both games.
Yet half-time in the Super League game.
Can you believe this leads 28?
Hulk AR nailed the World Champions.
Absolutely getting schooled.
Charlie White's on the sideline.
He's got the great weight, Graham, with him dead.
Here, chicken.
Yeah, boys, we're going to Triple M and our Las Vegas veteran.
Three years, Wade.
The first one is the rest of the entire player.
The second one of the sharks.
The third one here with the family.
You've done it all here in Las Vegas.
I'm not going to miss out on the next two.
Every year's an occasion.
Just out here now on the field.
Half-time in this English Premiership.
I'm Super League game.
It's been incredible.
You'll call the Dragon Bulldogs for us.
Out here at Brat Level.
Have sight of you for that game.
Yeah, it's awesome.
The launch, you know, all over again.
Every year, I think it just blows me away.
I think, personally, since I've retired.
I haven't missed the game.
I certainly don't miss the training.
And I can't help being a little ambitious in those players now.
Deep into their preparation in the shed.
Getting ready to run out on the Legion Stadium.
I heard Luke here in comparison.
Possibly the feeling more grand final.
And it's an occasion that I would love to play in.
And I'm actually a little bit jealous of those players getting ready to play stuff.
Up to you, boys.
Yeah, Wade, we just heard Luke and Radiant Jam are talking about.
You know, this first game's going to be won in the middle.
And you look at that Newcastle forward pack.
There is some good footballers there, but they're a bit light on.
Do you think that makes a big difference to compare to what the Cowboys are tossing up this afternoon?
I definitely.
I think early in any and our old season.
You've got to do the basics right.
Control the middle of the field.
Obviously, play the field edition and limit the errors.
But with the occasion, the intensity that it brings out.
That middle part of the field is always where it's won in.
Newcastle, it is where they're lacking.
They want to be in this contest with the opposition.
They want to take care of the middle of the field.
One of the second game, Wade.
Obviously, the doggies and dragons.
Doggies having favorites.
What are your thoughts?
Well, the doggies with their defense last year.
They're only going to be better for that experience.
And they'll back those defensive systems.
And like I said earlier in the year, it's all about getting the basics right.
So they'll be right in there.
And Kim's role, he's done a good job with that team.
The question mark is on Lockheed Cowvin.
How he handles the moment.
The occasion.
Can he steer that team around the park?
But if I was a betting man, I'd say the doggies get that one done comfortable.
Yeah, I think you're right.
Hey, Wade, I will see you're part of the coverage for the set to go.
Thanks so much for being with us, mate.
Good boy.
Good on you.
Can we talk?
And James Gromes just left us to do...
What's up?
Don't get the down to us.
Sky Sports.
I mean...
Oh, that's stressful.
There's a kangaroo loose in the top paddock.
Yes, we all know.
Can we...
He's his life.
He's your life.
Well, you would never do that, mate.
Very little rock solid, rock solid, mate.
Can we talk about...
Can we talk about the predictions for 2026?
Who do we like?
There's a bike running around the field at the moment trying to make money.
So he makes a money.
It looks like he's got 1,000 scooners as well.
28 nil at half time.
He leads over.
OK.
Can I ask this now, Reedy?
Yes.
Your prediction and your premieres for 2026?
Look, I think the Broncos might go back to back, do you know?
Yeah.
I'm a Broncos fan.
Way back, my chair is my chair falls apart.
Mate.
Let's start.
Let's put a bit of weight on here.
Mate, let's not call yourself a Broncos, mate.
What are you saying?
Mate, you just go where the wind blows.
Let's just be honest.
You're not calling yourself a Broncos fan.
What?
Kettle, black.
Do you not start calling yourself a Broncos fan?
You think Broncos can go?
I think they get back to back.
I think Pain House will want to sign off with a big season.
They still got Reese Walsh.
Still got the bulk of that team, right?
One of the comp last year has gone hot.
The back in the year.
Sure.
Back in the year in the final.
So I like the look of them.
I think their biggest threat will probably come from Penra.
And of course, the rooster is nothing.
We know Luke's going to say fear.
Well, this is Sarah Lee's.
He's on the cup of tea.
Yeah, obviously you're a fan of what the rooster is.
They've done a huge.
I mean, these young folks are coming through.
If you think they're going to win the comp.
Well, from where they came from.
I think they exceeded expectations last year.
Correct.
With our roots.
Yeah.
Yeah, bunch of these young boys.
Round one to where they got to.
Beton by Brisbane by 15 round one.
Yeah.
End up getting that first and that really disappointed.
All those young boys now 20, 30 games under their belt.
Daily comes in.
That's the big one.
It's going to take a little bit of time on here.
I mean, but he will be judged the same way Cooper was
in August and September.
Yeah.
They'll be there or thereabouts.
And then it'll be, can daily get him up.
Can Sam and daily get him up?
Sam looked amazing in the trolls.
Luke for me.
He did.
And that's the thing.
Well, he's not going to go there and make line breaks and set up.
You know, lead to try a serious and line break.
He's going to, Cooper didn't do that.
He's, he's bringing temperament, experience.
He's played in the biggest games in the NRL state of Ogin for Australia.
You want to look beside you.
And this was Cooper's biggest superpower.
It always felt like he had everything under control, even when he didn't.
And he could say, he knew exactly what to say and do at certain times.
And we all trusted him and believed everything he said.
The big thing, you know, you look at the roosters and you look at Brisbane.
And I know you mentioned Penrod there, but the thing for me with the roosters is just the depth.
And Brisbane has got the depth as well.
I mean, you move one of those hard.
You go here, go waiting there in the wings.
Like, there is some serious depth there.
And that is young forward.
Brisbane's not been hooked, though, though.
I realise that.
I realise that.
But you've also got, you look at the forwards of the roosters.
Now, everybody talks about me.
Why?
Like, okay.
Blake steeps the one that's just gone for me over the last couple of years.
He is just going, like, step by.
I think you talk, I don't think their pack has been given the respect.
I know, like, everybody talks about a lot of bucks, but you talk about with Victor back in there.
There is, they are lined up this year, to me.
They're still going to earn it, though.
They are young and they haven't dominated.
Yeah.
Really, I like Brisbane, right?
And I love March.
Yeah.
And to do what they did last year was amazing.
But you said it, they caught fire.
Yeah.
I think they were, times that season went, they're not chance.
Seven rounds out.
We were talking about them not making that.
Seven weeks ago, they looked like they weren't going to make the 8th.
And I do I like them, and I know Maddie'll have them up with paint leaving in Rano.
Yeah.
The micens, like that first semi-dense camera, let's be honest.
Yeah.
It should have lost that.
Should have lost that.
Reese, but Reese, AND Ben Hunt end up pulling them out.
They played really well against the panidest side, that was starting to fatigue a bit.
Yeah.
And then they can't get caught in final round.
They need to score a point, in that grand 101.
I don't score a point, but I don't score a point because it was the best performance I've ever seen
in the grand final. My worry is, can that just all, and mate, it was very similar to what we did
at CS. We bundled along, caught fire at the end of the year, made Sam had career best year,
I kind of came on, Rano had it, had it come on since time of war, I was on my feet, season he had,
and then we just couldn't, like, it was impossible to ever finish that again.
The other mystery in Brisbane is the rumblings of the cup coming out of there about the discontent
dollar. You'd be close to that, to that for me, but obviously there's been lots of rumors
about them. As it were last year, there were rumors last year, and they went on to win a comp.
But when pain left, the one else who was leaving, those rumors start again. So I'd be, you don't,
double your, the male on the ground up there. I'm not going to say that there hasn't been
the rumors, and you haven't heard from different people. But I don't think anybody really knows
the real truth with why pain's leaving. I think pain tells people, some people, it's this,
and then he tells other people that, I don't think he wanted to change. I mean, that's fine to me.
If you're happy at home, if you're married, just happy at home, you don't bust out for the sake
because you want to change. Yeah, something was right, and whether or not it's personal,
whether or not he just doesn't get on, he doesn't get on, he wanted to change from that club
and or Wayne, I don't know what the real truth is, but I don't believe that it's the 100%
he's off-match, because I think they can win, I think they can potentially win another comp.
And if all the hardship, look, there's no question.
Magic's methods are a little polarizing, and from where they've been in the past,
the club hasn't used it, but they hadn't won a comp since 2006 either.
So, let's be honest, they win the comp, they're thankful for that.
I think they'll look back later, you use Comboy, and thank-mage, if they go back to back, they've created a legacy.
And that's the same, there was players in their pre-missuted south loop that were by the end of it.
They were cool, they couldn't go another season with magic. That's fine, he's intense,
but he gets results, and he gets, and they've all got their pre-missive,
and they're the reunions now, you can all go back, and you can all say,
Mate, we've got it done, and that's better than most.
We've got a lot more to get through, we're going to take a break, second half, not far away.
The countdown to that first game, new cast will take on the Cowboys.
It's not far away as well.
This is the Sunday Sinbin on Triple M.
We're double down on the NRL season launch.
Two big games from our space.
From McDonald's and Reem Hubwater, Triple M, Rocks footing.
Welcome back to our lead in stadium at Sunday, Sinbin, Luke, Kerry Brent, Reed, Ben Dolman,
and James Grime with you. Leeds for here.
Hulkaya, Neil, this is what you call a good old fashioned flogging jammer.
Yeah, you can't look for Hulkaya on massive favourites,
caught Rupal winners in the past six months.
I anticipated them coming here and getting a victory,
but Leeds have just been too strong.
They've laid too strong, haven't they?
There's a few Perth Bears boys out there for Leeds too.
Yeah, that's right, Donald, Harry Newman, maybe Brody Kroff.
Oh, hold on.
You think you've got a tip there, Leeds?
Well, we should talk about the bird bears and what we'll get to that Peter Book of the Landies joining us very shortly,
but the signings, Brady, are you concerned by, at the moment,
the signings are little underwhelming?
Well, they're just, they're piecing together a solid side dog.
They're like a bit of star power, don't they?
The latest signings, obviously, Cipitalic, Telekhyr, the Cornelabac Roa.
And Scott Sorenson.
Scott Sorenson is going to be great for their culture and their work, I think,
because he's that sort of guy, right?
Well, I think four comps.
But they've signed Liam Henry.
Yeah, they've signed good footballs, but they haven't really nailed it, as I said, a star.
They haven't gone out and got a big gun.
I mean, they've obviously been linked with Matt Burton.
There's been a talk that, if things play out, the way people expect them to play the bulldogs,
maybe Burton becomes available at some point, because if he ends up in the center,
it's kind of through me and Dollar Seniors.
So they're keeping a watchful eye on Matt Burton, but they just lack a huge name.
But they're trying hard.
They're still bevery away in the background.
So there's a couple of players from the English sheep league that are locked in there
that are coming.
How are you?
Harry Newman.
James McDonald.
James McDonald.
And they're looking at another...
A leads front row.
Yeah, a leads front row.
Yeah.
And I mean, that's going to be the nucleus, but it brings us back to the concerning,
but we're trying to grow the super lead game, and then it's being not ravaged,
but we're taking a lot of the players out there to come to the NRL.
So we've got to get that game growing in the development of the super lead game,
as well happening as...
So there is a nursery, because there's going to be a shortfall of players
when this comp gets to 20 times.
I think, first time, 15 or 16 players are really double,
and I think, you know, what are we in March?
There's still plenty of time to fill that roster out, so...
I think in terms of the time frame, it's a pass mark up to now.
It really is.
It's a pass mark up to now in terms of the roster.
That's what they're seeing, right?
Yeah, and we know that I'm sure they're all thinking away
about how they can land one of those marquee players.
The billboard player, the franchise player,
the person that they're going to put front and center of all the marketing
that's going to maybe catch the eye of the casual fan over there in Western Australia,
but they don't have that person yet, but...
Did the dolphins have that...
Yeah, well, did they start with police and the Bromwich brothers?
And I understand that they were aging.
Before he was still there, but...
What origin players...
Herbie was second-year.
But they got hammer as well.
But hammer was coming up and enjoying it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So they went with drink water over hammer.
And that's a thing.
Look, you know, no one's...
The ball hasn't been kicked yet to start the NRL season,
but we know that throughout the season,
there'll be teams playing where a potential fallback isn't playing fairs grade.
Or they're on the wing or in the centers, and people go...
That kid could play fallback.
Herbie farm with is a typical example.
Somebody plays in the centers that you could hit me a great fallback.
There'll be plenty of examples like that,
and the managers will start to apply the pressure,
because we know that fairs will come with a big offer to take a player out of a club
to give them that fallback jersey,
and that potential superstar could emerge.
Not too dissimilar to the Cowboys.
They were in that predicament of,
do we go with the hammer on drink water?
They're back drink water?
The hammer goes and shoots the lights off.
I think they get a few,
or I can canal I have to shed a couple at some stage,
and then South's are going to have to move.
There's going to be some movement with South,
so there will be some...
I know Brisbane...
They're going to have to move,
because I mean, Gimmons should be stuck.
He hasn't been signed yet,
and he's got 165,000 at the Bronx,
and he ain't on that next year.
I'm deal with those clubs.
They're not going to lose a star.
That's what Perth need.
They need to land a...
As I said, a marquee name.
Oh, which is the marquee name?
Somebody could put on the billboards.
You've got to shake...
Who would you be going?
You've got to shake the tree a bit,
and see what falls out.
I mean, as I said,
that Burton could potentially fill that role, right?
I mean, if it plays out that way,
Burton could be that guy,
but you don't know what happens to this game, Dobbo.
We know they have this game operator, right?
Blokes get unsettled.
Blokes want more money,
and suddenly they agitate a bit.
They find a way out.
Look at Zach Lomax at the moment.
So, you know, you just kind of...
Sometimes you just got to be a little bit patient.
Who will bring up Zach Lomax?
Oh, yeah.
We should bring him up at some point.
Do we really need...
Or is it...
It could be.
It could be a puppet house at some stage,
and besides, I want to come back.
Come back.
That's a big...
Where do you think the Lomax situation is going to land?
In the Supreme Court, Dobbo next week.
It's quite unbelievable that...
You know?
Actually, it's in Supreme Court,
I thought they might resolve it before then,
and get it settled, but it doesn't sound that way.
I spoke to Melbourne officials again yesterday,
and as far as they're concerned, it's he and the court.
And Paramount is not giving any ground on it.
So, a judge...
A judge who pretends to know
there's nothing about football
will make a decision on Zach Lomax's future.
Well, we're very, very lucky.
We're very, very lucky.
He doesn't know what he's talking about.
We're very lucky now...
To have the cheer of the AROC.
Peter Vellandis...
He just told us...
Peter Vellandis, thanks for being with us all the Sunday.
And firstly, congratulations.
Once again, it is absolutely delivered in threefold.
He must be terribly proud.
Look, for me, it's very surreal.
I'm a kid from Wollongong,
and come here and see it in America.
You just pinch yourself, and how good are the English fans?
I mean, they've just added another dimension.
Yeah, Peter, congratulations on...
Las Vegas again, year three.
A lot of talk about expanding the reach and going global.
Can I ask you a question?
Is it restricted to be the opening round?
We see the NFL with, I think, nine games outside of North America.
Is that something that the NRL could replicate?
And maybe see it in and around the season as a whole?
Look, the original thought was it would be the opening round.
So, we'd have it in current.
So, we'd have been gaming in Las Vegas to be a game in London,
because Luke Kerry said we've got to go to London.
So, we're going there, and we might have one in Japan,
and one in Hong Kong.
But, there is a...
After considering that we may do it as a series, you know,
and so we haven't made up our mind.
Next year, we'll probably do an extra game,
and just take it in steps.
But I think it's very important for the game to go global.
I mean, we had a conference he yesterday
and heard from the NFL, and a lot of other sports,
and every one of those sports is doing what we want to do,
and that's to go global.
What's the...
Where's the first place?
I mean, I read Miami potentially,
but everybody's talking London and Dubai.
Where do you believe the first place,
if it's not Las Vegas, you'd like to see a game played?
I think it'll be London.
I mean, because we've already got a fan base there.
It's a massive fan base.
And people like to see the Premier competition.
And the Premier competition in rugby league is the NRL.
If you look at A league in Australia,
they can't compete against Premier League in England.
And you get a lot of restrain viewers watching the Premier League.
But we want to replicate that with the English viewers watching the NRL,
because we're the Premier competition in rugby league.
Peter, Super League's on at the moment.
I spent a eventful year there last year.
I know you love the English fans and what they've brought,
and they're all there the first year when we didn't have them,
and then come back this year and see exactly what they are.
Are we a chance as a game to take over them,
to help them, to buy in?
Yeah, look, we're prepared to do so.
But if we did do it, we'd want to have total control,
because their corporate governance model is they're all clubs.
And clubs all have self-interest.
So you never get good outcomes or decisions if the shareholders run the company.
You've got to trust the board of directors.
Any public company, the shareholders don't run it.
The directors do.
And the way the NRL would do it is we would run the competition,
and they would benefit.
And we will invest heavily in it.
We believe we can get much better broadcast revenue
that they've got at the moment,
and we want to make the game viable and vibrant.
The way it is at the moment, it's heading for a train crash,
if there's not some new investment.
So what's the appetite over in the UK for that?
Is it looking positive?
Well, it's a very strange situation now,
because every club's got an equal vote.
So the clubs are in second division.
We know with the top clubs in the first division.
So it's not going to be an easy road,
but if they love the game of Rugby League
and they want to survive in England,
this is their best opportunity.
Peter, is there a time frame on that?
Because you mentioned the broadcaster.
You ought to go shouting yours now.
You mentioned maybe packaging up the two deals.
So that would mean you would have to do it relatively soon.
Would it not?
Absolutely.
100% right, mate.
The thing is, we have to do it in the next three months.
If we can't do it in the next three months,
they're going to lose that opportunity.
Surely, and I mean that these owners that are privately owned
and are still being what you've done with the NRL
and seen the profits that have been made over the course of the last four years.
Now, let's peel everything back about the product.
They want dollars in the pocket.
So they've got to know that the only way forward
without going in Solvan is that let the NRL take over.
Well, look, the big owners, the smart ones, the good operators.
They want us.
They've opened up their arms, and the other ones that have requested
that we look at it, it's the big, wealthy net worth owners.
It's the little ones that are the maybe not go with it.
the the smart business people can see that there are any there are any chances
survival is investment and one party that can invest is the NRL and we bring
a broadcaster with us. Well, Peter Wong from a very proud English
villain, a man that made his name in the souply. I really hope that you do take
over there because they do need all the help that they can get. We talk about
change and things like that and it was muted over the offseason around the
change in the kickoff rule. We've decided against that. Is that something
that is on the agenda moving ahead in the in the next two to three years?
Look, we're going to test it at the end of the season in games that have no
bearing on in the competition and we'll see how it goes. Look, it was a
polarising rule change. You know, you had 50% for it, 50% against it. So we
decided to go against it this year because we, you know, we consulted the
players. We consulted the clubs. They didn't want it. So no good consulting if
you don't listen. So we listened and we didn't go ahead with it. But that's not
the say. It's off the table. We've got to keep looking at, you know, making
you have to look at through the lens of a fan and everything we've done in the
last three or four years. We look at it through the lens of a fan and it's paid
off because we've gone from 134 million fans to 260 million fans. We have now
we've got now the four most watch programs on Australian television with
the number one watch program on Australian television being the NRL grand
final. So we've got the product in a place where it's entertaining to the fans
and that's where you've got to have it. And you know, so we're going to look at
all these changes to ensure that the fans get what they pay for. We talk about
the product Peter and I've it's been great because I've I went through that
change through COVID. I remember sitting in some of those meetings where you said
we're going to do this and everyone went what and to see where the game is at
and then how the English game is kind of state where it was. It's amazing how
I commend you. You talk about the product and what's going to be spoken about
all years is the TV deal. Are we in the best position we've ever been in and
is it going to look different to how it's been set up over the last 20, 30 years?
Look, this is probably one of the most difficult areas I have to navigate
because one of the things I've got to be sure on and be comfortable on is that
I don't want the cost to be put onto the fan because we don't want to
alienate our fan because a broadcast or whatever they're going to get charged
they're going to pass on to fan and we're going to have to look at all these
different models that we don't pass the cost onto the fan and that's why
globalization is so important. We can defray some of the cost to the Australian
fan by getting revenue from broadcast offshore. So it's a it's a difficult road
to navigate but it'll be the biggest deal that the NRL have ever had in their
history and probably ever like it to get a game. So it's a record and it'll
set the game up for you know for 20 years. Does that mean Pete and we've seen
how the NFL have done it. They've given different broadcasters individual
whereas at the moment there's two broadcasters obviously Fox and Channel
Nine from a TV specifically but there's others that might come in the
YouTube's the Netflix seven. Are they as that options and they have singular
different moments throughout the course of the season? Well the funny thing is
they're all down there in the chairman's room at the moment. I thought about
getting a little auctioneer's box and just that auction. I've never seen so
much interest ever in my time in Rugby League. Every major player wants to
have rugby league. Hey Pete I've got to ask it's my we've got a court case
with Zach Zach Lomax. You've been pretty outspoken about wanting him back in
the game. What do you hope happens over the next week or two? Look I look at it
this way Zach Lomax is a marquee player. Okay he's made a mistake. We all make
mistakes in life. Yeah. But if he goes over to Rugby Union they're going to
get mountains and mountains of free publicity at our expense. Why would we
want to give somebody to another competitor to get all this publicity? They've
got Suwali and that's all they promote is Suwali and that's at nauseam is
all you see is him. You know so I don't want to give our competitors one of our
marquee players and you know I hope he stays in the game and you've got to
remember and what everyone's forgotten here is Zach is a human being. You know
that the the mental state that he must be in at the moment with all the back
lashes getting because he the only sin he's done when you look at it is that he
tried to do better for him and his family. You know any player has the
responsibility to do the best for his family and himself. So he made a mistake.
I don't think he should be hung and strung for it. I know the
Paramata supporters are all all you know want blood but when you when you look
back Paramata got him for free to start with like no he went from St George to
Paramata at no transfer fee and you know to be in the courts is really not in
the best interest of the game. That's probably the thing that I think would must
disappoint you that I mean the fact that it's got to court now and obviously
it's going to be taken away. You must be just frustrated that they couldn't get
a deal done behind closed doors without it now being publicly played out in
a melodrama. Well at the beginning of it I I sat between the two parties trying
to get a deal and you know and I told them be can do people just go and do a
deal for the bet and have the best interest of the game as a whole. Don't have
your self interest in it just what's best for the game and unfortunately they
couldn't come to that resolution. Pete obviously we're here in Las Vegas sir have
you been behaving yourself for the game out the way and then hit the strip tonight.
No mate. I've done that many interviews and that many things I've had I passed
myself in the foyer. I saw you suit suit shopping this morning. I did. Is it your
suit? New suit? Now that now that it's the old suit at the top and the new suit
at the bottom. Yeah. Because I've lost a bit of weight and so the pants kept falling
down. So I just had to say I'm going to do it. What have you been doing?
Mate, throw it my way. I need to talk about it. But you're shredding by
beautifully. I'll tell what it's expensive because you've got to buy a whole
bloody new wardrobe.
Food list food. Pete. So that works out. I said to reading list foods. I don't
know myself. I'm not doing any food.
Hey Peter. Well done once again and and seriously what you've done since you've
been involved in the game has been truly unbelievable. The game has never been
in a better place financially from a personal perspective from the development
of the game. It is growing. Congratulations on the third installment and here's
hoping we have a successful two games following his circle league game. I just
hope they're close and you know it goes to golden point. Yeah. We need the ratings.
We're going to do it. Hey, good on you. Peter on the ad.
Thanks, fellas. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. We're going to take a break.
This is the Sunday scene being on Triple M. Triple M 20 years ago for season
twenty twenty six. And we've spun up the feature line from Las Vegas, a double
hair from the desert of dream.
It's like that. It's Vegas. From McDonald's and Reemhub one from Las Vegas.
You're ready for the show now.
Oh, he's been rock triple M. Rocks footing.
Welcome back to Allegian Stadium as Triple M rocks have put more leads. 46.
Okay, six five minutes left in this super league match. It's well and truly
over. And the countdown is not far away. The first game will be calling Cowboys
taking on the Newcastle nights. Our cause will be Millie Elliott. James Graham,
are you with me in this first game, eh? I sure am.
Looking forward to that. Well, obviously Luke Carey and Wade Graham along with
Dan Gennan, the second you're on the side.
I'm on the side.
Always there. Um, Mitch Barnett, can we just quickly have an unpack that that situation?
Ready? What's the latest from the New Zealand Warriors? We know no chance in leaving
this year. Who is the favorite in your opinion?
Well, I know you spoke pretty positive that Brisbane, yes, they do. You think you think
Brisbane the favorites together. Yeah, I do. It's logical. It makes sense. The lost
pain arson, probably need a front row enforcement to fill that void. I imagine they're right
at the front of the queue, but I mean, Mitch Barnett's such a good player. Every club in
the game just about put their hand up to chase him. I imagine you, Carson, have a look
at him. You obviously played there before and we spoke, spoke about their pack earlier.
They need some strength in the forward pack. It's a logical one. But I just think he's
that sort of, he's a sort of player of a club at need.
Well, I, I was with you, Reedian. I think that's the knee jack reaction, because we remember
his origin series, not that long ago, but he's coming off an ACL at the age of 32. I
think if you, if you're smart, yeah, you're entering the conversation, but you really want
to see how he returns to that, because can he get back to that top level? It, it is
a big effort at the age of 32 to return to that level, because if you go and spend,
well, I would, I would give him a five year deal, Jimmy. Yeah, yeah, that's one thing.
He's a two, he's a two year deal, two, two, three, a deal on nine and a group. That's
a lot of money. Yeah, that's a lot of money. It could be a big difference about where he's
actually at. And I think, you know, I think it's funny how we saw that the change in the
story and the narrative of like, if the field got back to that work, we're going to allow
this release. The Broncos right identified as one of the leading candidates in the Warriors
meant, eh, well, just, just pause the sack and let us for a play every 10. It was very,
very interesting. The Warriors reaction to the news that the Broncos warned the front
runners. Ah, just quickly, my lead to hit the 50 mark and Willie Feet has just got up
and left the building. He got up. He got up. He got up. They've been schooled this
afternoon. No question about it. Um, is there a chance that Newcastle equal go home
where he's career started and end up there? I don't know how it ended there. I can't
remember. I'm not asking people about it in recent days. Um, and I'm not sure always
well when he left the club. Sure. Now, a lot of, a lot of those people aren't there
anymore, right? So maybe that doesn't matter. You cast love the dough. Well, they'd probably
have those to move some things around you, but you move some, you would be willing to
move some things around to get a guy like Mitch Barney. They've got a 1.3 player. A 1.2
player. Yep. Can they afford to compliment that with a really a down under 1000 at his peak
pace? I Sullivan knows how to move. Yeah, but you've got, you've got a 30 minute rock.
Now, I don't think the money will be an issue in the interview because I think they'll,
if Mitch wants to go there and they desperately want him, they'll find a way to manufacture
the money to get him there. So I'm not sure the money is right now made to concern. I think
the issue is whether he'd be willing to go back there, particularly if the Broncos are
certainly, I mean, if you've got the opportunity to go to the Broncos, it's in a premiership
window right now. That's really hard to resist. Yeah, no question about it. We're going
to take a short break, not far away. The kickoff will continue the countdown. This is the
Sunday scene being lied from a legend stadium. It's Triple M. Roxas 40.
From McDonald's and Reemhard Water, Triple M. Roxas 40. Welcome back to a legend stadium.
58 points to six leads over HKR. It is now time for this. From the makers of the earth
is flat. And I'm only having one beer comes. I call BS. Oh, that's right. Thanks to
Aria. Keep yourself out head to toe with Aria. Quality clothing and boots comfortable
and stylish from the outback to the opposite. Aria.com.au. A quick, I call BS at the
back end of Brent Reed. Tom, I'm calling BS. I went to get a coffee this week in Vegas.
You know, hard to just find a good coffee. Yeah. I decided to go to Starbucks. I ordered
my coffee. The coffee gets made. One of the calls at my name or calls that name. I'm thinking
it might be me. It looked like my copy. I go and pick the cup up. She's spelled my name
PR. I.N.T. Prince. I think that's your new. I like that. You're a print journal. Print
read. I call BS on that double. Wow. You got to you got to spell people's names. Wow.
When you got a name like Brent, it's not that easy. Anyway, I call BS James Graham. Oh, look
at Simon's. Look, he's out. He's out. This is why people that don't go about our game. Be
careful. Be careful. Stay away. He's speaking about Las Vegas. He goes this year though.
The thing I don't get is the teams they selected. Right now, the most interesting team to watch
in the NRL are the likes of the Broncos, the Raiders, Paramata and Pemis. Well, three of those
four came last year. Yeah. Yeah. Clown. Yeah. And if you're a reader, you've done a disservice
to your readers by saying those three teams, they came last year. They still got a column. Yeah.
Great. How does he still have a column? Well, anyway, that's not for us to fight over
today. I'd like to call BS on some of these rideshare people that are carrying on. Like the
taxi service industry was built on hard work. And now any man and dog can get in a car and
drive around and give it. No, well, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. There was a day where you'd
buy, spend the money, you'd buy a plate, and you'd have a taxi license. Now anybody can
get in a car and do it. I don't like it. I don't like it. And I don't like it here in
Vegas. I'm going to say I don't like ride share as a general rule. I'm a taxi man
because they're the backbone of the society. You don't know why that happened to your dog,
because they regulate it. No, because taxis were charging too much money. And we need
everybody to make a dollar. Why just to bring everyone down? If you don't want to use
rideshare, then don't use it. I've got it. 1980 called Dove. They want their transport
at the time. Have you got an I call BS on the coffee? I'm into that. 10 dollars US. What
have they just come to Australia and figure out how to or make it? There's got to be some
of that. What are they doing? Why are they? Why are they not? And I mean this,
genuinely, someone expect going, I'm going to open a business here. I'm going to take the
whole lot. I'll take the whole lot. It'll make it all. Anyway, we have got the American
National Anthem and Luke here is part of our Friday call to him. He'll be part of the
coverage as well. We have got the National Anthem for the United States of America
being played at the moment. As we count down to kick off, and there is a lot to
like about this. Millie Elliott, along with James Graham, will be with us. That's
right in it. You're not going to talk here in the National Anthem. A quick tip for me
for Game 1, Luke Kiri. I think the Cowboys. Brett Reed. No, it's from the
James Graham. You're not going to be welcome back. Why is that? It was country
you stunned. Please tell me who you're tipping. Cowboys. Okay. That's it from us
here. This is Sunday, see me.
