She is the first contestant from West Virginia. We finally have another one ticked off the map. I believe that leaves three states left. If I'm remembering correctly, what are they Alaska? Alaska Alaska is one of them. I want to say North Dakota and air. I think it might be New Mexico might be the third one.

6:08They are surprised. Yeah, obviously all, you know, refer to our good friend survivor fact checker well over the course of while we're doing this. But yes, Maggie making history here as the first West Virginia to play on hopefully her game will not go south. Okay. So the West. Exactly. Go West young traveler as Maggie did when she went over to Fiji. Maggie is 40 years old, again, originally from middleway West Virginia and currently lives in Charlestown, West Virginia. She is a farmer, but she really is a Jill not them of all trades. When asked about her favorite hobbies in her bio, Maggie said farming, gardening, fishing, hunting, exploring, running, lifting, pole vaulting, reading, fishing, signing, cooking, playing guitar. I have a couple of questions about this. The pole vaulting, yes, came out of nowhere. I'm not entirely sure where that falls in the midst of things. Is she sticking a fork into hay bales and launching herself across the barn in her spare

7:13time? I'm also intrigued by signing because I don't know if this is ASL like speaking sign language. I don't know if this is her giggling, her Jill hand caught on things. A lot of grass. Sure. Exactly. For her future survivor win for all the events she's going to attend. Yeah, good to practice because you know, especially she writes a book or hands can cramp up. Yeah. So Maggie herself is a self-proclaimed, quote unquote, jack of all trades because she talks about while she is incredibly athletic, you talked about farm strong last time and certainly not only the day to day of living farm life, but also through the myriad things that she does. She's been able to maintain, you know, a good degree of physicality in her life. She also has a therapy degree. And what is interesting Rob is that I think much like Lewis who we talked about last time, farming is a dream that has been deferred for Maggie for a long, long time. She only bought the farm not literally in 2023.

8:16A new farmer. A new farmer. She said this was her crazy dream and her and her husband decided to go all in on this. Wow. Just imagine when they wake up and my wife is like, you know what? Let's get a farm. It's like, well, I just was thinking about getting some chicken. So you want to get the whole farm. Is not the part of we plot of we bought a zoo. I don't know. You watch that one. It wasn't necessarily shown on big brother. But I will say watching her video Maggie Nester dare I say giving me Wendy Joe vibes. Oh, and that's not good. Not great. The really big red flag for me is that she has a couple of direct quotes about the way other people perceive her. She says that her husband thinks she's crazy, but I am. And that apparently when her husband asked her parents for permission to marry her, they replied, quote, are you sure she's a lot?

9:17Nester, I hardly know her. There we go. So gives me a little bit of worries. I mean, again, shades of Wendy Joe talking about how her husband basically said, no, I don't think you're going to do perfectly well. And it did not go particularly well. Did Maggie say if she knows who Beyonce is? You know what? It did not come across any of the things that were asked of her in the preseason. It's a little TBD. Maggie, if you're out there, let me know if you do know Beyonce. But right now we shall see if her being a child of destiny will end up having a good fate in this game. I mean, the thing about Maggie is that she does have the survival skill. She says she's a lifetime hunter and fisher. This could be a really fun idea. Rare woman provider when it comes to this game. And that could be something, you know, again, very innovative, very open era. Okay, we're changing the typical labels that are assigned to these roles.

10:21And depending on how valuable those skills are, that could buy her some time in the game that may supersede. Again, some of these, I wouldn't save self-emitted, but perhaps self-implied lack of social skills. Yeah. We have talked about this a little bit in the preseason, though. It does feel like that they are throwing more people into the mix that are, have this survival backgrounds that are going to be able to get more out of the elements and be able to provide more for the other players. So we'll see if that ends up being a big part of life in the open era. Yeah. And I think it also depends on, you know, if Maggie's on a tribe with someone like fellow farmer Carter, does this become a like a Rupert Boston Robin All-Star situation where the two of them are holding, apparently this happened with Ozzy and Jonathan as well in 50 of like fishing contests and maybe whoever loses out their value in the tribe completely plummets and they end up being, you know, a cow led to the slaughter.

11:25So super power and kryptonite all in one for Maggie. She told me, I think my biggest superpower is probably my social game and social read on people and the ability just to connect with others. And it's probably going to be my kryptonite because I might be a little bit of a social butterfly. I realized last time that I actually said this answer for Linnea. Yeah. Linnea did say something very similar. She basically said that her super power was going to be her social skills and I guess I didn't get a kryptonite out of her. But regardless, she does feel like I think she keeps bees, but this time she's more so going to hopefully float like a butterfly rather than get stung. Okay. Where are the bees, Jake? They said, yes. Oh my God. This will hopefully be a utopian environment that Maggie sets up with her prolific hunting and fishing skills. So the two people that smile them, I'm, thank you. Yeah, Jeff, if you're listening, hopefully you began the season by saying, let's make a brand new start. Mm-hmm.

12:26Okay. Do you know what Chris Dottry could, Chris Dottry come in and do a new theme song much like he did for the much. Oh, I think Chris Van Allattu. Yeah, I guess close enough. I don't know if I want to hear a new survivor theme from Chris Dorty. Maybe that's a bridge too far, but yeah, Maggie, I think that she's a very old school type of casting choice. I don't necessarily see her as this immensely cutthroat person, maybe more so in the vibe of a broccoli Brad from 41. I think my issues are, despite her proclaiming herself to have these social skills, that if you know, the people that know her for all her lives say, she's a lot. I think restraint can only be practiced so much, especially when those deprivation elements come into play. But overall, let's see what happens. I mean, she might literally be cooking the stuff that she's able to find around the island. But I think overall Maggie's a red overall profile is looking fairly good for a deep run in

13:30the game. If she can get past the initial bumps, that might come. Okay. All right. Mike, anything else about Maggie? Nothing about Maggie, but let's go from the farmland of West Virginia from the country mouse to the city mouse. We're going to... Mike, Pinsky, a 32 year old baseball executive born, raised, currently lives in New York. And his claim to fame is that he has been working for the New York Yankees for almost a decade as the assistant director of baseball operation. But we're not going to hold that against him, Mike. Give him a fair chance. Don't, don't, don't lead with his negatives. Like, don't want to do anything good to say about him. I mean, listen, is this where I ashamedly say that I am a Yankees fan? So it's not all bad. Okay, Rob, it's not all bad. But this is something that Mike has been doing again for almost 10 years. He actually previously interned with the nationals before moving back up to his home city.

14:32And the way that he vocalizes his job and Rob, you know, let me know if he's speaking out of turn here. He says that he advises the GM on players to trade for in which players to sign. And he's consistently negotiating multimillion dollar contracts to keep, you know, the roster as optimized as possible. The roster guy. I think he's, well, we'll see how many he's able to roster over the course of this season. And I think as much as the talk might be about like this is, you know, a suit and tie type of pencil pushing guy who doesn't get on the field at all and get his hands dirty. Like, I think if his day to day is about negotiation and being able to get parties to mutually agree on a decision that does feel a one in one comparison to something like survivor where essentially organizing a vote is doing the exact same thing. Yeah, I'm interested to see how this is going to play. I feel like that as a baseball executive, I don't know exactly what Mike's day to day

15:34activities are. I feel like that baseball is so analytical. I feel like there's so much data in baseball of like, OK, I'm looking at these people's stats. OK, this person is good. This person's valuable. This person is not valuable. And I feel like that maybe you might like potentially coming from that world like discard. OK, this is, this isn't going to make it. This isn't going to make it. And then I'm sort of like really focused on the things of extreme value and maybe not putting in the time with every single person of like finding the money ball type valuable. OK, on the surface. Money ball, yes. Right. What's the meme of like, this is Wendy Joe. She's not good at any of the things that we need. But. Yeah, I mean, it's an interesting point that I imagine his bread in butter is looking at these people as a set of facts and figures, not even from a saber metrics perspective,

16:36but even from a like net worth perspective, right, assigning bonus perspective, a cap perspective. And maybe that is going to say salary cat Mike. Oh, listen, yeah, I mean, maybe that's another reason why Mike decides to go on survive. Yeah, listen, I'm not. I might be a lot of people from MLB that are ready to go play survivor in March and survivor 53. Listen, I'm just saying Jesse Tannenbaum, if there is a lockout, I could think of a theme season. Maybe Jeff Kent will come back to host Newly and Trine Hall of Fame member. And hopefully Mike will be in the hall of fame. So Mike is really putting forward this idea that I think Kyle Frazier vocalized really well in his survivor 48 interviews that he did of like, I'm the most average guy you're ever going to meet. When he's asked, why will he be the soul survivor? Mike says I'm athletic, but at five foot eight, I'm not physically imposing. I'm strategic, but I know how to downplay it when I need to. And I'm a good chat without being a char machine who will be seen as too big of a social threat. I have the right cocktail of qualities to take this thing to the end.

17:38Okay. I mean, do you think that is ever the case, Rob? I guess Kyle is sort of the, well, I can't. Can I respectfully push back on Kyle being the most average guy you'll ever meet? Oh, I mean, like, like, what's, what's the average thing about Kyle? His number of working Achilles tend to. Yeah. I mean, I mean, the guys in really smart, great shape, like, a very, very affable guy, like, like, if he's average, like, what are the rest of us? I was going to say for all intents and purposes, I don't know how many average people they put on survivor anymore. You always have to have a little bit of a pop to you, whether it be your personality, your story, your game prospects, hopefully some sort of combination of all three. But Mike, despite you thinking like, okay, he only got Kyle. Don't get it. Just Kyle. Yeah, exactly. Kyle, don't tell yourself short, man.

18:38So Mike has had a deep love for a survivor that has extended back decades. It's all about the eights, Rob. Mike says when he was eight, he used to play survivor with his friends in their New York City apartments. When he was 18, his college friends would drop everything for our sacred Wednesday night viewings. When he was 28, his marriage proposal incorporated a Jeff Prope's catchphrase. Still don't know which one that was. My mind is racing. So he is 32, not 28. That would have been incredible. Or if he was a or 30, I think, let's get it on. Oh my God. I mean, hopefully the proposal went that well. But Mike says, you know what? Through the pattern, I'm here to break the norms and maybe that will extend to the game. He talks about how. Is he 38? Yeah, he's not going to wait for 38. 38 can't wait. So Mike talks about also losing his mom to metastatic breast cancer when he was 24. And he says that there's this phrase that she used to tell him, everyone has something

19:40to offer. And so it is interesting when you bring up perhaps the more analytical take on a very personal aspect of survivor. Maybe this is indicating that Mike will see the voting. That's a good sign. Yeah, that I think he is going to take a more person forward approach with all of this. And I think, you know, even outside of scouting people for their skills, I think that being able to shmuse others from both either a clubhouse perspective or from a prospect perspective are some really great applicable skills to have to entice people to essentially either work with you or work with two parties that can't necessarily agree. I think if Mike is able to incorporate this, this might be one of the most valuable skill sets that anyone is bringing to the season. Yeah, okay. What else about Mike? So when asked about his superpower, Mike said that he, I have a well-rounded skill set.

20:41This is again, a sort of rewarding his Kyle Frazier, not Kyle Frazier attitude. He's a five-tool player. Exactly. Five foot eight to be specific. When I'm athletic without being physically imposing, I'm strategic with the ability to tamp that down when I need to. And I'm social without being just a charisma machine that jumps off the page. I think I have all those abilities and the ability to sort of shroud it to the extent that I need to. Something that should be brought up is his kryptonite, which even though he admits that his intelligence doesn't necessarily peek out from amongst the people around him, he does worry he's going to have trouble playing down that intelligence. He says, I don't want people to see me as somebody who has accomplished a lot or somebody who is going to outsmart them at every turn. I need to be able to tamp that down early on in order to get further. Now, certainly there are a few people this season, Rob, that may fall into that externally perceived analytical type. We talked about this with the past couple of ones of like, you could look at somebody like a Christian as an example.

21:43He killed me to a certain extent and be like, oh, yeah, this person knows ball, not from the Mike Pinsky variety. Oh, we have a few more people to talk about spoiler alert. I don't necessarily think any of them fall in that bucket either. Do you think now knowing what you do that Mike is from an external perspective and maybe based on the way he talks, one of the more quote unquote smart facing forward contestants? I mean, I think so, but and he could try to downplay it. But I also think that people are really perceptive and smart who go on survive. I think they'll be able to recognize, okay, he seems like he is a business guy. He seems like that he is in some sort of like corporate job and he's not going to lie about his whole life. Is he going to tell people do you have any sense of what what he will say his occupation is? That's the million dollar perhaps question. I have no idea. He did not say in his video at all if he was going to. I imagine he's going to say that he has a menial job within the front office.

22:48I don't think he's going to say he's a assistant director of baseball operations. I'm not running the phone. I'm into the traveling secretary, I think. Exactly. Yeah. He was caught sleeping under a desk and Brian Cashman had his head after that and he's just been scraping along. Well, if he does mention that he is working in baseball, he should at least lie about what team he's working for because he doesn't want to come across as unlikable if he tells people that he's involved with the Yankees Mike. So he should go for the meds. Well, I feel like I haven't built a lot of character. Exactly. He's like, listen, I've been through the trenches, okay? Yeah, people like, wow, this is a real underdog. I'm rooting for this guy instantly. We stuck through Soto, we can stick through this. You know, in the movie, city slickers, Billy Crystal, famously Yankee fan, they put a, they put a met's hat on him because they wanted him to be likable. Really? Yeah. That's so interesting. Well, hopefully Michael find the equivalent of Curly's gold at the end of the year. Because he won the ant in pushups. So we shall see what a amount of jazz this guy is able to create with the improvisation

23:53that survivor requires. At the end of this all, the jury will be the judges or the Aaron judges that give him a winning verdict of a million dollars. If you wear glasses, you know the drill. I think that Ari in a 10 person tribe, I feel, I don't know. I guess in the smaller tribes, we see that the having a strong guy is more valuable, but I don't know. I, I, we'll see how it goes. We don't know in the open era. That's the other thing. For all we know, seis por ciento hacemos para ir a mil por seis

39:47¿Qué es el ori? No, let's move on. Next witness to the stand. Here is Pat Kennedy. And Kennedy, 26, beat in her future. We shall see. Pat is 33 years old, originally from Tampa, Florida. Currently lives in Washington, DC. She is a federal prosecutor. She is a jag, not a wag. Speaking of people. Yeah. OK. Herk her residences. One of the places will be this season when we go to Washington, DC, for a live noodles. Maybe you could get put through a boot camp. Pat will be able to put you through what she went through in order to become the prestigious role that she is right now. Would I rather go through boot camp or go to Ori's coaching class? Real six eggs in one hand, half a dozen and the other, that the chickens would never lay when it comes to the course of a survivor season. But Pat is somebody who comes from a military background.

40:48She has grown up in a military family. Her dad was in the military. Her brothers were in the military. Her husband is currently in the military. He's deployed six months out of the year. So this regimented environment has always kind of been baked into her, even though she admits that she is pretty nerdy. And I think possesses this bubbly, fun personality that masks this law career that she's been able to amass over the course of 33 years of her life. OK. So Pat Kennedy, when referenced, which previous players you identify with the most, she says, Amanda Kimmel and Rachel Lamont. Amanda played a loyal, resilient game with close allies. And Rachel played a scrappy, no holds barred climb to the top. Both were brilliant and flexible. And I hope to be the same. Very interesting hybrid here, Rob. Because I do think that the fact that she's talking about do make for a good player of someone who is, now I think Amanda Kimmel is more than just being loyal to her allies.

41:52But certainly I think a reason why she makes it to the end in her first two seasons is because of that. She has people in her corner and vice versa. And Rachel, who gets mentioned a number of times by these players, is able to have that scrappiness and ability to climb to the top of the heap as well. And that's Pat's entire mo here. Is that essentially she's doing the transformers ask more than meets the eye characterization? Where people think that, again, she is this very fun personality. She admits right out of the gate here, Rob, she has not seen a lot of survivor. OK. When that's about her survivor history, she said she watched a season during the pandemic and she applied five years later. That's so interesting to me of that not that you have to see every single season of survivor. But the fact that I haven't really seen a lot of this, but I think I'm going to go do it. I mean, I've seen this a couple of times. So David Kinney in 48 is a great example of someone who like watched a little bit of it and decided

42:53he wanted to jump in. MC from 49 was one of those big stories, where I think she said she watched three episodes of 47 and was like, yeah, I think I want to do this now. And then was on the very next year. And honestly, I welcome it. First, I don't want to necessarily get keep fandom. I always tell people better late than never when it comes to checking out survivor in general. And yeah, I think this is what we need. You've talked about this before as well that when it comes to diversity in casting, of course, we look at ethnicity, of course, we look at age, of course, we look at class, job title, et cetera. But I think we also need diversity when it comes to survivor IQ and survivor awareness. And I don't mean to imply it's bad. I just think it's interesting. Yeah, I mean, I think that speaks to the culture attitude that has you charging headfirst into this game. It's like, I'll figure it out as I get it. Yeah, I even get like being recruited of like, I don't know what this is, but I got asked to do it. And it seems like a good opportunity. Just that I don't really know a lot about this,

43:55but I think I'm going to apply is the thing that I think is a little bit unusual. I mean, I think Pat is somebody who has lived the motto of like, I can do anything I put my mind to. She has one of the most positive outlooks on boot camp that I've ever heard. Signed her up for special forces, Colin World's toughest test when she said she loved it. Because again, she sort of seems to have this very positive, she's positive, Pat, she has this, again, bubbliness to her that things. That he always pulls through. Exactly. And I think she's able to, you know, what she does say actually, her kryptonite is that she could see herself getting emotional and she cries about a lot of things. So much like a famous P.P., maybe she'll be waving an American flag while baking a pie while she's crying. But I think that Pat has a really interesting combination here. I don't know if she's going to be upfront about her navy background. I think it's fine. Like I think we saw with someone like Sabaya that like it's a part of who you are. I don't think people are going to be looking at you sideways if you have a military background.

44:57But I think again, what's really going to help her here is what she's espoused a number of times, which is like if you look at her and especially if you listen to her, she doesn't necessarily, and I say this with no offense to people in her profession, nor iconic actors behind a CBS giant years ago. She doesn't really speak like a jag. Or a jazz. She comes across more so as like the person you would like to sit down and have a beer with, not necessarily the one that's going to litigate incredibly important naval crimes in court. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know what a jag sounds like other than like is a Mark Harmon a jag. So I believe he was because a jag was the origin point of and they love jag on CBS. Well, maybe that's the thing. Maybe everything's soft rebooting nowadays. Maybe this is the reboot of Jag and they're just soft launching it by bringing in Pat as sort of a, to people like this, do you want to see more jag? Yeah, okay. And I want to see more Pat. I think that she is a dark horse for me.

45:58Just because again, I think she's incredibly unassuming. I think if she's not open about her legal background and just says she's a military officer, I think that's totally fine. But I think her ability to be physically conditioned on top of shrouding a very shrewd mind is a very lethal combination in this game. Mary Ann, I think is the consummate example of that. And so I think that Pat, if she's able to arrange things correctly and is able to essentially figure things out as she goes along, could be a natural for this game. I'm Pat. All right, I'm sensing maybe Winner Pick from Mike Bloom? I don't know, I might have talked myself into it, but we shall see unless she's a discharge without honors from the game at a certain point. 51:06Currently lives in Cumberland, Rhode Island. And he is an airline gate agent. But I think the more interesting part of this Rob is, look, at the show we did in Milwaukee first announcing this cast, you talked about, oh boy, here comes another Rob, steal my thunder. I don't think you realize how all menos that is. Oh, really? And I have to be worried. Well, Rob Antonson has a podcast. What does he talk about? Everything under the sun. It is called the Rob show. Yeah. I don't know how long ago this was if he stole your SEO. But he does a lot of stuff. I checked out some of his content. He's talked about sports. He has talked about reality TV. He's the self-imitted reality TV junkie. So he talked a little bit about love Island. He actually had some particular comments towards another Rob, Rob Roush. What did he say? He was in sixth.

52:07He really liked Rob. He was a big fan of him and Leah. He says that he feels like, I think the question was, who's going to roll in your crew from this cast? And he did pick Rob even though he thinks that he is a less socially awkward version of Rob. His on mic name is Robbie Rob. OK. Do you ever try out that name? I never did. All right, well, hopefully someone can call in. I'll like Helen Bechtold and maybe try to, you know, heo, Robbie. Heo, Robbie Rob. So Robbie Rob, I'm not going to call him that. Rob A is also someone who posts a lot on social media. He has a bit of a following. I think he has like 11, nearly 12,000 followers on Facebook of his podcast. So again, I think calling it a podcast is a little generous, at least from what I've been seeing. It's more so short videos that have been posted. A lot of content Rob is him posting a joke

53:08or an affirming message on the screen. And the text is over a video of him just sipping a cup of coffee. And this has been done multiple times. This is a recurring bit. Yeah, the kind of video. Well, I mean, I could tell you some of the jokes, but they're a little inappropriate with the exception of La Nella and SFW. OK. So that's, I think, the attitude that Rob A espouses. Like, he is this big personality, this party guy. He's talked a lot about the fact that if he was on survivor in his 20s, he would have done horribly. Because he was this jacks dude who thought he knew everything about the world and would get humbled. Since then, he has gotten married. He met his wife on a cruise. You know, they say survivor isn't fun going on a cruise is fun. And it was a lot of fun for Rob here. He has three wonderful children. He doesn't admit though that he is, quote, a 40-year-old with a 24-year-old mind frame.

54:11I get to see that. Which listen, might be great in connecting with the people that are in the... He's a backwards baseball hat guy. Don't tell Colin Coward. Yeah, exactly. He definitely has that attitude, even though they probably won't let him wear. Only one Rob can ever wear a ball cap in survivor history. And he is miles and miles away. Got a lot of fantasy football advice. Yeah, I was checking some of the weeks up out, didn't pan out necessarily. But that's fantasy football in a nutshell. I think he said start Drake May and AJ Brown week one. Yeah, I mean, he's also... If it's not an indicator from both his location and ever hearing him talk, he has a very thick New England accent. So we'll see how many picks he's able to throw. And if he'll be anybody's pick over the course of this game, the whole 40-year-old with a 24-year-old mind frame statement is interesting to me because it does allow him to probably connect people who are younger than him. It should be mentioned that him, Maggie and Christian are the only 40-year-olds in this cast. But it also means if he really does feel like,

55:13I'm not that 24-year-old guy, I'm matured. It's finally getting the chance to do this that make him access his inner child in a bad way and have him make more immature, impetuous moves that might piss other people off in the process. OK, we'll see. Rob wants a bromance, which I think is interesting. I could see that. I guess the question is, if he's going to try to appeal himself, who's going to be his handcuff to use a running back term, of somebody who's like him, again, more of this like loud, broy type, perhaps like a Brady, find that not a bromance, but a brody man's perhaps. Or is he seeking out more of the opposite attract thing? Is he trying to find someone who's a little more soft-spoken, someone who is a little bit more on the social butterfly side? I think it's going to be the latter, because when I asked about his superpower, he said, I'd say my social power is making relationships with everybody.

56:13And it could be just anybody. It doesn't have to be a guy, a girl, all different ethnicities. I can just talk to anybody. I got the gift of gap from my aunt, my aunt, someone that could just talk to a homeless person on the side of the road for a half hour. Wow. And I think the no-color tribe experience that when they play with Vince's life. Yeah. OK. I think it's also fun that Mike is a big reality TV fan. Like, he outlined specifically in his bio that he watches housewives, traders, love island, the challenge. I don't think that's everything, but I think outlining those four shows is intriguing to me, because I think something that a lot of those have in common is the propensity to be loud and proud. Even if it doesn't feel necessarily organic, I think it's the economy of sound bites over then, and is the literal economy of making money. Of like, my longevity on the show is all about making good TV, even if it means like drawing all the spotlight onto myself.

57:13Again, if Rob has that attitude, if he's trying to bring that energy into survivor, that's not necessarily something that's going to get you the win in the end. But if it might be fun for us to talk about. Oh, my God. 100%. I think Rob is absolutely going to be one to watch, because I think he has a lot of confidence in who he is. I think he has been through a lot. And so I think he's going to come in not being afraid to be himself. Now, he is blue-collar. So this might be a case where we were talking out with Carter, where he's like, all right, initially, I'm just going to keep my head down and be the workhorse and just let the other personalities take them out. But listening to this guy, watching this guy, sooner or later, his personality is going to come out, both to us and to everybody. And even if it might not be for a long time, it will certainly be for a good time. If anything, no matter where he finishes, he'll be able to have some great chatter at the airport on the flight. No.

58:14All right, no doubt. Also, interestingly, maybe Terran will shout this out more in the draft, which hasn't happened yet at the time of recording this. One of his most interesting pet peeves of this entire cast, the pouring of soda. I guess he's like a can-only type of guy that you can pour a soda into another beverage dispenser. You're triggered out of a can. I suppose so, or maybe he's just like... Brandon Donlin for the Coke Zero etiquette. Is this like a sound thing to him? Is it a misophonia? And she just doesn't like the sound of soda hitting any sort of surface? I don't know. He also describes himself as a lasagna. Yeah, his layers. I never heard that one before. He's upgraded the Shrek onion. Oh yeah, we've gone full Italian Shrek right now. He made a meal out of it quite literally. So I am extremely intrigued to see what the Rob show

59:14is going to be. And if Robby Rob will get robbed by something that happens over the course of this season. OK. All right, Mike, let's talk about Shoranda. Let's go to Shoranda. Shoranda Cox, no relation to Crystal, is 34 years old, originally from Pompo no Beach, Florida. Now lives in Richmond, Kentucky. And I messed up a little bit in our initial cast announcement. She is a resident physician and an OBGYN, not a resident OBGYN. So very multifaceted in her areas of expertise. OK. And I feel like Shoranda, to me, was very story-forward in both her bio and her video. When asked, why do you want to be a part of survivor? She said, survivor has a way of forcing people to be vulnerable, reflect, and see themselves in a new light. I would love to encourage those little black boys and girls, those in low economic areas, and my friends and family, what we can do, despite our disadvantaged beginnings.

1:00:15I also want to stop going through the motions of life and meet the new, unapologetic, Shoranda. And that was really the crux of her video. She was talking all about how I was part of this family, a big personality. I was always leaning on my sisters, but then when they left home, I had to grow into my own personality. I never really had a personality until I got to college. And she even talked about the fact that, as she was thinking about her way of being out there, she again mentioned wanting to be there for all the little black boys and girls. And then she had sort of a moment of zen. And was like, wait a minute. Everything I'm exactly, epiphany, not Tiffany. Everything she had in her life has been for somebody else. She says, I moved to Haiti to help other people. I became a doctor to help other people. I need to stop and do something for myself. And so it's interesting to see her why pivot in the preseason. I'm doing it for Shoranda. Exactly. I can't think of many people who have done that.

1:01:16Rob, who are like, yeah, I want to do a survivor initially for this reason, but I kind of thought about it. And Walter White style said, no, I did it for me. And hopefully that will then allow her to be a little less altruistic and the a little more cutthroat in this game. Yeah. It's interesting. I mean, she could also come in and say that. And then also get there like, no, I can't do it for me. Well, to that point in the video, she says that she isn't mentally worried about being too empathetic. But she says she is happy to cut her number one. And they very shatily cut to Charlie and Maria when she said that. Yeah. And then when talked about her superpower and her kryptonite, she says, my superpower is that I'm a chameleon. So I can adapt to any environment. And my kryptonite is my heart has grown so much that I might go off emotions instead of using my head at times. And I do think this is where perhaps the biggest foibles of her game are going to lie, which is we spoke about this with Eric a little bit. She is part of a career that is all about natural human connection

1:02:19and making them feel comfortable in very uncomfortable situations. Yes, that is a fantastic segue into dealing with people in this game making them feel comfortable strategically in a very uncomfortable environment, both from a natural perspective and a personal perspective. The issue is that bedside manner almost too good that when she goes full, Dr. Kavorkian and initiates the killing blow, it could be difficult for her patient. Not Dr. Kavork. It could be tough to initiate for both herself and for other people, as well. I think that as much as Shuron is talking about the difficulty from her own perspective and cutting people that she likes, like you said, that kind of goes out the window at a certain point. There also could be the case where she connects so well with people that they feel very, very trusting in her to the point where when she cuts them, they're given her a one star in the jury's octok rating. Wow. You don't want this is one star on the jury's octok.

1:03:24Never, absolutely never. So yeah, I think that Shuron is going to be one of the biggest stories of personal awakening, essentially what she's been saying is like, I've been living my life in service to other people. Even outside of her work, she says that she's constantly been there for her husband, for her family. She even used the term hiding behind all that. And so this is an opportunity for her to find that personal awakening and not to say that you can't find that and also win a million dollars. But I do want to highlight it because that might be something that could pull her out of the game mentally, which would then let her get pulled out of the game from a voting perspective. Sort of keep that eye off the prize. Yeah. But gone. Anything else on Shuronda? No, I think regardless. I didn't get a lot of her challenge abilities. So I think that'll be a little bit of an X factor. But they would tell us when they have really strong challenge ability.

1:04:26That's a good point. I think if they were like fishing, that's true. And that requires a lot of upper body strength, depending on what you believe. It also implies you're outdoorsy. I mean, she said she likes watching sports. Maybe she likes to partake as well. So yeah, I think that Shuronda is coming with a very humanistic perspective in what is frankly a very inhumane game. But I think if she is able to weaponize those personal connections, she's going to make in a way that doesn't have her leaving her heart at the door or abyscerating other hearts of the process. I think she could grab this game by the four steps and never look back. OK. All right. I also forgot by the way, going back to Rob. I did want to mention his kryptonite because it is very interesting. So he said, as a young gun, I was this huge athletic guy and I would kill everybody in challenges. And women were my kryptonite. But now that I'm married, that's definitely not kryptonite anymore. My kryptonite would have to be patients.

1:05:27Being an East Coast person is go, go, go, go. You drive down the street. You're already blaring on your horn because the person came to a complete stop side. I mean, we're just go, go, go. That's my biggest kryptonite to be patient out here. Dare I say it, Rob, might be the lack of hair, might be the fast talking high energy attitude. Could we see Boston Tony this season? Interesting. Maybe we're talking about all these mashups of different survivor players. I kind of feel like you see the vision. Yeah, the frenetic energy of Tony combined with the blue color background. I guess Tony was blue collar as well. But I think, you know, the qualities and location of Boston Rob. Oh my god, Mike, how could you mix master, Mike? How could you ever say such a thing? No, don't ever compare me to Rob. It wouldn't be the whole bad, but listen, listen, I'm the only Rob on survivor. Okay, don't get it twisted.

1:06:27Yeah, yeah, he's nothing like me either. See, who wouldn't think this was a returning player season? We've got plenty of impressions to bully our expectations the entire time. You're a sell out, bro. Talking to you, Mike. No, it's the Tom Sorry Tony. With the mixed master, Mike, with that, it was it was mixed master, Mike, the, the first, I think three words out of his mouth ever to me were mixed master. Maybe this will be a new rock and rob. It's true. We'll be have Robby Rob. So close enough at this point. Okay. All right. Let's bring it home here, Rob. We're talking about 10 on and we'll hopefully get a good 10 year out of her time in the game. 10 on when is 24 years old, originally from Fort Worth, Texas currently lives in Fort Worth, Texas and she is a medical student. Okay. So to know I mean, it gets a make sense as to why she naturally wants to study the human body.

1:07:28She opens up her video saying, quote, I can be freaking weird and how she loves talking about farts. Yeah. All right. Well, we like that on survivor. Well, I'm trying to remember it wasn't her though who said that she was poop positive. I think that might have been a little gay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Did that come up at after glow? Listen, there are things that certainly go in that area but not coming out of that area. I think was the topic of discussion. Yeah. So I mean, maybe in vain of Christians highlighted poop pants scene from survived. Do you remember that? They're trying to lean more into the bodily functions and that's what's in on predominantly studies right now. She started watching the show when she was young. She said her dad in particular loves the game and she's really been applying since she was eligible. So she has been hitting these streets for six years at this point. Yeah. See, they really went back into the archives for all of these people that were cast on this season. Which I'm glad for. You know, certainly we talk about, oh, the number of people that were surek not

1:08:31wander shirk in terms of personalities that couldn't come back from returning player perspective due to just the dearth of returning player season. On the other side of that are like all the people who applied in the new era and weren't cast again, you wonder, okay, much like we're kind of wiping this slate clean and moving onto the open era. Is that going to be the case with casting as well? But no, it seems like perhaps Tanon is finally having her day in the 10th sun. And much like Shuranda here, Rob, and maybe it makes sense considering that she is also in the medical field. Tanon admits that her heart is her biggest superpower as well as her biggest kryptonite. Being able to empathize with people will help her in this game. She says it'll hurt when people unfortunately have to get voted off. She says being nice will make this game a lot harder for me. And as you know, the recent. You can read Shuranda's again, Mike. In terms of what?

1:09:31Isn't that the same thing? No, no, it was different. Yeah, it's, it's, Shuranda said, my kryptonite is my heart has grown so much that I might go off emotions instead of using my head at times. Tanon's was, I think my heart is my biggest superpower as well as my biggest kryptonite. Being able to empathize with people will help me in this game and it'll hurt when people unfortunately have to get voted off. And it's a, it's a valid. Too much heart. Yeah, copy and paste what I said with Shuranda with Tanon. I mean, I know they study matters of the heart, but it doesn't apply in this game. The recently crowned goad of survivor, Rob, or an entire book called Nice Girls Don't Win. So that being said, I think Tanon is a very fun personality. She already made some cracks at the rest of her cast talking about how she's intimidated by all the big guys around her. She says, where I'm from, it's big books. This time it's big guys and that she, where she from? Uh, so she's from Texas, even though they say everything's bigger in Texas. They have big books in Texas. Yeah, listen, a lot of large print. Let's get to here. But apparently at one point, and I don't know if this is like pregame panorosa or if she's

1:10:34speaking figuratively, she went into a corner and started like doing squats and pushups just to kind of like fit in amongst the Jim Bro vibe that was happening. Okay. Also, choice quote from Tanon in her video, I'm a very competitive person to the point where sometimes it kicks me in the booty a little bit. I feel like this is actually a number of people have said this, Rob, that like they are incredibly competitive people and self-emittingly bad sports when they lose. Might help to not stick out too much if they have a crash out upon losing a challenge, but still is going to make for hopefully, you know, even from a, not even a challenge perspective, a strategic perspective. Hopefully this means we'll get some iconic exit lines and know good games and hugs on the way out from these people. Yeah, do you think that the open era is going to be an era of sportsmanship or will we have some hard feelings? I certainly hope it's the latter. I mean, come on, the discourse for the past few years has been where are all the villains?

1:11:35Let's bring back some acrimony. Let's bring back some conflict. I think, listen, people are valid to feel how they want to feel. They truly do feel like this is a way to digest the abject devastation in that moment. Like, those are the moments that center. I'm not saying you need to clip farm when it magues many crops at her farm, but I think that it's something that we want to see. We want to see human moments, apparently. We want to see reality in our reality TV. And sometimes reality is like, F you, I'm pissed off. You get that to me. But people, you're going to get that from Tanon. I'm not entirely sure. I know Tanon is saying that she has a big heart, but I think the other side of that big heart is

1:12:35that it could get broken incredibly easily. Yeah. Okay. I hope so. Interesting. Tanon has sent tenacity when it comes to the outdoors. She said that she did Boy Scouts as a kid. Yes, Boy Scouts. Yes. I was her early on to outdoors and survival skills. Do you think Lil was her scout master? Listen, what a small world would be. Tanon, these are cult squats. They're living in the corner. Yeah. Mike, anything else on Tanon? I don't believe so. She is one of our shorter cast members. She said she's coming in at five feet strong. But compared to the big guys, again, that's where the discrepancy comes in. But I do not think she'll be short for this game. As she says, she'll be lurking it cognidoly until it's time to strike. Yeah. Okay. Lurking in incognito mode. That's never true incognito mode, though. Tanon, you should know that they see everything.

1:13:36They see everything. So the players in this game. Okay. All right. Mike, have we done it? Have we gone through 21 cast members? I believe we have Rob. And look, we still don't have a formal tribe designation. A new trailer did come out since the last podcast we came out with that, like seemingly has some divisions that you could see. Like, there's shots of like, I saw like, Kristen and Eric and Shuranda together. And I saw Brady and Kilby and I think jelly together. I don't think we know the full list at this point. Not to mention that there's a very good chance. It could be a 10 versus 10 with one person being sent to exile or whatever. So there are a couple of unaccounted four bodies. So we're not, I don't think we're going to go through the full like tribe, shakedown right now because there is so much I know. But as we talked about before, a lot of these prospects, both better or for worse, can all get shots of sunshine. The second they draw a yellow or a purple buff and things shake out in a positive or negative way.

1:14:37When will you make a winner pick, Mike? How will that work? Well, I'm going to do my usual time capsule prediction stuff on the B and B. And I'll put my winner prediction in there. I have quite a few times I haven't necessarily gone public with it. And so I also am lurking incognito. I'll let it on when it comes to my pick. I think I also just need to like review the entire body of work because the body is T. And there's a lot of T that's been spilled on this cast. And I don't want to give short trips to like the first two groups just because the last group is very pertinently on my mind. It doesn't mean that I don't think there are some candidates in the first two groups. So I don't know Rob, you can maybe speak to this first and foremost, concerning that you also will have to make not only a winner pick, but some draft picks as well. Yeah, I'll be participating in the podcaster draft, which typically it's been 18, 18, 18 for the most part. And so I'm not always involved here. But now we have 21. So that's very divisible by seven. So I will be participating. And yeah, I got to really think about this.

1:15:40I feel like I'm just trying to get to know their personalities in terms of like who's going to actually win? Like this is the hardest one to do. I completely agree. And listen, I am very grateful for the opportunity I get to talk with these people in the preseason when I do because it does, I think, give them give us a better perspective into who they are as people and hopefully players. But like this is a little bit of a throwback, I feel, to like the pre first one out days, right, where we are just going off of a bio, a video, maybe some extracurricular activities online and trying to ascertain some information. I think also the big ass risk on top of all of this is we don't know what the open era is going to be. And we have certainly seen a lot of winner picks in the new era end up having their chances go down south when some sort of twist gets thrown in or they get a bad try makeup or you know, they roll the wrong dice on a journey. And so because there is so much more unknown when it comes to the open era and we don't know how many twists are going to

1:16:43get thrown in either. It might be a minimal thing. We might have a new twist in every single episode. It makes it even more difficult to pick somebody who's going to win out of all of this. So I'm sure someone will do a compilation of like, you know, popular winner picks across the board, you know, for the survivor populace at large. I mean, I'm exactly I would not be surprised if this is one of the most even spreads we've had for a cast in quite some time just because there is so much mystery out there. And there's almost nobody that you're like, that person can't win. I don't necessarily think so. I mean, I think there is certainly, you know, a lot of people actually that I brought up in this most reason one like Maggie. I'm not particularly seeing it Rob. I don't necessarily think so. What a ride it would be though. Oh, it would be absolutely incredible. That's I think the win win right from a win is if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, but at least then we have like Rob winning this game, which should be very fun. I think, you know, there's also people like Brady and Carter and you know, even killbie to a certain extent or

1:17:46a certain extent where it's like they're going to get sniped eventually. So maybe while they are personalities that stick out and have good prospects, we feel like the meta will have them get inevitably cut. But again, we don't know what the narrative of the season is going to be. We don't know what the quote unquote new threats are in the open era. And hopefully what happens in 51 should dictate for both us and production and future casts, what to look for with 52 when it comes to winter picks. All right.
