去年，台湾每10万人交通死亡数为13.2，这是日本、新加坡的六倍，而且死亡人数还在创新高。

台湾每年有超过3000人死于车祸，其中有10%是行人。当地的民众把台湾交通成为 “行人地狱”。台湾的交通状况还引起美国和日本媒体的注意。

台湾的交通怎么了？公民社会的大声疾呼国际媒体的关注能促使台湾甩掉“行人地狱”的恶名，解决长期形成的交通安全问题吗？

Taiwan has been described as a “living hell for pedestrians” by a Facebook page with more than 24,000 followers. It attracted the attention of American and Japanese media. 

Every year, more than 3,000 people lose their lives to traffic accidents in Taiwan, and 10% of them are pedestrians. In 2022, the number of traffic fatalities per 100,000 people in Taiwan was 13.2, about 6 times higher than Japan and Singapore. 

What is the problem with Taiwan's traffic? Can the public outcry and international media attention help to improve road safety in Taiwan and shake off its bad reputation as a “living hell for pedestrians”?
