What's up, Hokie Nation? And welcome into episode 44 of Talking With Seal, presented by State Farm. Virginia Tech, Routes VMI and James Franklin's debut, the Hokies begin to prepare for ODU this weekend. And the power goes out in Tallahassee, and another second is mysteriously added in Ann Arbor. All that in, which we're coming up on episode 44 or Talking With Seal, which starts right now. Hey, let's go, let's go. Hey, and we record on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026 from the tech solutions studio and the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. Remember to like, subscribe, and refer at the show to a friend. I'm your host, Carter Hill. To my left is our senior staff writer, Andy Bitter. Cross the way is our managing editor, Mr. David Cunningham. Nick Brown, our director, media is producing mind the scenes. And as always, we are joined by the Virginia Sports Hall of Famer in David's Seal. See how are you? Good to see you. I'm doing great guys. Is Nick going to put some stoppage time on the clock for the pod today, like they did in Ann Arbor on Saturday?
He's keeping a secret clock that nobody knows about. Yeah, exactly. And the funniest thing was, of course, last night with the power outage in Tallahassee, it's like, oh, the clock is being kept on the field. It's like, hmm, not the first time this weekend, it's been kept on the field or in secret. Exactly, yeah. We're going to get to the Western Michigan Michigan debacle later in the podcast. I'll say that for a little bit later, but I guess we'll start with the Virginia Tech over the weekend. And again, you guys talked about the game yesterday. And we talked about the VMI game leading into it last week. But I think walking around, Chris mentioned it too, walking around Lane Stadium and the atmosphere around Blacks for Saturday was really as you ordered a yesterday, Andy, a celebration for Virginia Tech's fan base. Welcome in, James Franklin, the new era for Virginia Tech athletics. Hokey's obviously took care of the key debts, but definitely felt like that celebration till over the weekend here in Blacksburg. Absolutely, Carter. And it's a word I used when I wrote about the game, celebration, a testament to hope and event. It was not a football game.
And never was going to be. And you're all's point about walking around the stadium and just walking around town. Heck, for me, the drive, just going up 64 and then down 81 and the Hokey flags in the windows. And seeing cars go by, knowing that they're going to the game and they've got trailers behind them for their tailgates. And then I stopped into tropical smoothie before the game. And I encountered a gentleman there who wanted to chat about the day and what was going on. And this is a guy probably Andy's age, you know, far younger than I. And I noticed he had a walker next to him. And then I looked down at his leg and his right foot was in a boot. So I asked him, I said, man, what happened? And this summer he was on a ladder trying to cut some branches out of a tree and he fell.
This is like in late June, compound fracture of his ankle, emergency surgery 911 rushed to the hospital. He's still deep in recovery mode. And this is a guy from South Carolina. But he wasn't missing this game. And he was there to support the Hokeys in James Franklin and then walking to the press box from the press lot. Yeah, there's a gentleman who tailgates there along Beamer Way in the main stadium lot from Loononburg County. And I know he's buddies with Chris and he always stops me and we talk and hit him. And his group, they were all fired up. And it was good to see. That was Lyle. Lyle from Loononburg. We tell him before they get to get time. That's right. I should have had his name. No, he was awesome hot dog, awesome hot dog and chili. And yes, Chris mentioned yesterday, we did not partake. But apparently he made a mean vodka gatorade drink.
So, but he was passing it around. So we had a good time. But why wouldn't Chris partake? He's not working. We had to lock in. We'd lock him for the game. We'd lock him for the game. For the game. Did you do? We had to lock in. I guess when you look, we'll go around table with this one because I'm curious to get everybody's thoughts. I don't want to say atmosphere for the game because I mean, under Brent Prive, Virginia, Zach and Lane Stadium showed some very good atmospheres. But just from a vibe standpoint around Blacksburg and Lane Stadium, when was the last time it truly felt like that Andy here in town? Do you think? And then we'll go around table. The best atmosphere game atmosphere, I don't really know about town. I don't go around town too much before games. The best game atmosphere was the first game back from COVID that UNC games start the season. That was sort of pent up frustration for an entire year of fans that didn't get to come to games. I thought that one, coaches always say, the crowd really made a difference in this game. That's very rarely the case. They're just being very nice to the crowd. I think that one actually did make a difference because every time UNC had the ball,
the fans were just relentless on them. And communication became difficult. Some miscommunications by the Tar Heels in that game led to some turnovers and stuff for Virginia Tech. So that was one where it was actually noticeable how good the crowd was at that game. I think another one that stands out in my time was the 2015 Ohio State game. And I know the result wasn't what everybody wanted, but the atmosphere in Lane Stadium that night and up to the first half when they were winning, by the way, at halftime. And then Ohio State scores and Michael Burr separates a shoulder and it's over. Braximular does the spin move and it's over at that point. But up until Brewer got hurt, the atmosphere in that stadium was electric and then probably one of the best I've been in. And it kind of tells the story of the last 15 years that those are the two that stand out. Because I think if you go before that, there's a Miami game where they're going crazy at the end with playing under Sam and things like that. So there seemed like there were a lot more before that.
But in the last 15 years, it hasn't been a whole lot, I would think. Yeah, I mean, I think back to my early time as a student. A first of all, I think that I always go back to that Thursday night or in 2016 against Miami. That was a good one. That was an electric atmosphere and tech smoked Miami. Out of lane. I mean, college game day came in 2017 for the Clemson game and that was a really good atmosphere. But part of the atmosphere has never really been the problem. I mean, you could feel the palpable buzz this weekend and a lot of those weekends here and there. But I was talking with a couple of friends about it the other day and I said, I remember in 2018 when Georgia Tech came to town. I think it was like a late night Saturday game and the Hokies were up like 2114, had a couple of big touchdowns early and Georgia Tech scored five straight touchdowns and ran the Hokies out of lane. It's like, that's not a crowd problem. The crowd was great. I was in the North end zone for that game
and I remember how packed it was. But the crowd has not really been the problem. But I think you factor in this crowd just wanting to play this crowd just wanting to be back so much, just waiting for this, ready for this. On top of the improved on field product and it's a pretty good match and I'm curious to see Hokies just announced Ode U this weekend as a sellout. That's four of six games sold out. It's just Stanford and Virginia left. I think it will only ramp up, especially if the on field product continues to improve. This is setting up for a really nice Friday nighter, you know, against Pitt, a really good Pitt team in lane stadium at the beginning of October. And if so, if the trajectory continues, that's going to be an electric game. But it was, I think it was good just to see all these fans happy and enjoying themselves again
because the crowds have been good. But I think a lot of people have been going just because that's all they know. And now it's like they can actually, as Teal said, celebrate. Yeah, Carter, when you first posed this question, my mind immediately raised to the North Carolina game in 2021. I would add two in that 2016 season, the Virginia game. You know, it's Thanksgiving weekend. Now on Black Friday, the Hokies had already clinched the coastal division title because Carolina had lost at home to NC State. So the Hokies now didn't need to beat Virginia. But this is Fuenze's first year. It's Mendenhall's first year. The Hokies are riding high. They're going to play Clemson in the conference title game. And again, much like the Miami, they just destroyed the Cavaliers.
And the place was jumping like I've rarely seen it. And that was an atmosphere that I thought affected the visiting squad. Guys, you mentioned the Friday game coming up against Pitt. I think we're going to have two undefeated teams. I think we could have two nationally ranked teams. And yes, the vibe for that is going to be something that the town hasn't seen in several years. That would be fun. It's been a while. It was the last time they had ranked versus ranked here. In Lane Stadium. I mean, Virginia Tech hasn't been ranked since 2021. Which is crazy to think about. Noter Dame. I don't know that noter Dame was ranked when they came in 2020. Would it have been Friday, was it Clemson in 2017? That would have been my first guess. Clemson in 2017, that college game day game. We'll find out. I'll find it. I'll find it. So while Andy is looking that up, because honestly,
I am very curious to hear that answer. When you look on the field seal, and this is perfect, because they talked about it a little bit yesterday. Again, Virginia Tech, B-T-V-M-I-73 to three. But did you learn anything about the Hokies this week, and that you can take forward into the final 11 games of the 2026 season? I don't know that I learned anything. Karat, some observations. It was just interesting to see some of the players we've all been talking and writing about on the field against outside competition. I know David and Andy mentioned Quaysha Brown in their stories. As did I. He just really popped. You know who else did to me, I'd be interested in your guys' observation, was no chambers. He just played fast and looked fast. And then I know David also votes on the ACC player of the week awards.
And I was interested just to see the Virginia Tech nominated Justin Terry for offensive lineman of the week. Now I did vote for him because of the caliber of competition. But in reading the little blurb that Virginia Tech provided with his nomination, it was just some insight as to how James Franklin and his staff grades. And it said that Terry graded out, I believe David at 93% and mentioned a number of quote-unquote, great blocks. So apparently they have parameters as to what constitutes a great block. And I just found that insightful. I always love the offensive linestats. They could throw anything in the offensive linestats. I guess that's right. I have no way of verifying that. We have 16 blueberry waffle blocks on this one. It's like, okay, yeah, I guess that's cool.
I think we looked up the last time here, 2018. 2018 Notre Dame at home. At home. Because amazingly that season was terrible. But after they lost that old dominion game down there, they went on the road and beat a ranked Duke team. They got back into the top 25 number 24 lost in Notre Dame. The game wasn't close. But beat North Carolina and then lost four straight in the season. Just completely fill it. That is at home. The last time tech was ranked and played a ranked team on the road was Carolina in 2020. If you recall that. Oh, yeah, they get it. They got it at home. I mean, that's eight years, Carter. Since the last time Virginia Tech was ranked at home against another ranked team. 2018 is crazy. And that was not a true ranked team. No, I mean, they were ranked. But that was one of those early season errors. They didn't have enough information. Yeah. But in terms of players that impressed, I think Chambers is one that I want to see a little bit more in again against better competition. This is second year. He got his feet wet last year.
Now he's running the defense as the Mike linebacker. I want to see how he does there. Yeah, I just think the running backs are going to be good. I know who it was against. But man, Overton looked explosive as a runner. Now if you have him to compliment Hawkins, who we already know is pretty good based on what he did in the ACC last year. And not to say overtoned. I mean, overtoned what he did against Miami. We got a glimpse of that. We didn't see up for a whole season. I think that's a really good one to punch. And if you have that and you look at James Franklin's history and what he's been able to do with the running back duos like that, I think they can be a very productive duo for the Hokies in the ACC. And maybe you could rival some of the best ones in the league. Yeah, I thought Overton. I mean, he untouched on two of his touchdown rounds or Hawkins. I mean, they both barely got touched. Five total touchdowns. We touched on this a little bit. I think it seems like Andy every single time Overton touches the ball. He had a, you know, he came back from injury last year and was explosive immediately.
And it felt like every single time the Hokies got him the ball, whether it was, you know, swinging it to him out wide in space, like they did, he think against Miami or just handing the ball off. The offensive line has improved now. But Overton, every time he touches the ball, he's electric. And I think you saw that nine carry. He was nominated for the running back of the week. He had nine carries for 104 yards, I think. I mean, just very, very impressed with him. Tiel, one other player that I thought was pretty impressive. And we kind of mentioned him a little bit before, but was Cortize Harris. And they brought him out to speak to the media yesterday. Very good interview, by the way. Yeah, but he had a sack. His first career second Virginia Tech, maybe career, I think, actually, period. He only played two games last year. That's the opposite. Yeah. But he blocked up a punt as well. And I think he talked also about the importance of being a starter playing on special teams. I think the Hokies, you can see they just have a lot more dudes.
And like Cortize Harris is a guy redshirt at last year with the Nihlions, comes to Virginia Tech, earns a starting spot. And he's a guy with, yes, it's VMI. But he's a guy we talked about earlier in the year. Him and A.S. and Stevens, neither one of them had a career sack. They both got their first career sacks this weekend. And yes, it's early, but Cortize Harris is a guy to me who jumped off the page, not just on defense, but also on special teams. David, that is the benefit of, in the portal era, hiring an established head coach, who when you bring him to your program can bring, as you said, dudes. And Cortize Harris is among those dudes. And Luke Reynolds is among those dudes, as is Ethan Grunkamire. And what I'm really interested to see about Grunkamire, I think we were all struck after we had done the post game Saturday night.
Then none of us thought to ask Franklin about how Grunkamire played post game. You know, there's a quarterback making his first career start. And nobody asked him how the guy did. But what I really want to see is, Grunkamire underdress. And VMI was not going to do that. The key that's didn't have any sacks on Saturday. And you will recall that last year, Old Dominion had four sacks of drones. They had five sacks in Saturday's opener against Norfolk State. And last year, the monarchs had a school record, 38 or 39 sacks. So I think Grunkamire is going to face some pressure on Saturday at times. And I'm fascinated to see how he responds to it. I thought the way Franklin talked about it is, is he said the defensive coordinators name.
Yes, Tyler. Tyler, who they go back to Franklin's days at Kansas State. The way he talked about just the different looks and the third safety. And I mean, obviously Virginia Tech is familiar with it just because of the Old Dominion film from my handful of years. But yeah, this is the first dip in the water for Franklin. Like first like real, quote unquote, real challenge. And Grunkamire, I mean, there was no way he was going to face much pressure on Saturday to begin with against VMI. But I'm interested to see like you, Tio, he had the two deep balls. Like those were two of his three incompletions. Can he, you know, we saw Bryce Baker hit on that deep bond. I thought Franklin's praise a Baker on that deep ball was very interesting too because he said that was like the fourth or fifth read on the play. Hoki's hadn't gotten to that progress to that read all camp. And then in the game, he goes through three or four reads and hits that deep ball.
Though I don't know that Baker will have as much time against the team like Old Dominion. But I'm curious to see the quarterbacks to continue to grow. And as you said, what happened, Franklin said there's still a competition for QB two. Yeah, apparently. I don't know if one guy is the backup the whole week and he also doesn't work on the scout team. Then he's the only backup that goes in the game and the only one that gets snaps. It looks pretty good doing it. I don't know. I feel pretty comfortable calling him the backup at this point, regardless of what the head coach says. This whole thing, Tio mentioned it. This is the first week they're going to play FBF players. It's the first time we're going to see what they can actually do against. And it's not even top of the line competition. I mean, Odee, you know, being in the sun belt is a different level from the power conferences. So this will be a step up, a couple steps up from VMI. I think maybe more cracks will show in the operation from Virginia Tech. But I still think they're vastly improved team. I mean, good teams can beat the heck out of bad teams all the time.
I just don't know how good Virginia Tech is yet. Okay. You know, I remember this time last year, essentially, Virginia Tech. Literally, Virginia Tech could just gotten beat by Vanderbilt and Lane Stadium. And there's all these questions about the future of Brent Prie and everything that was going to happen the rest of the season. We got our answer pretty quickly because you came and sound that weekend. We were previewing the Hokies and monarchs. Obviously what happened happened in Lane Stadium. And remember, that was the first ever talking with Seal Podcast leading into that Odee game. Because we started talking about the future of Virginia Tech football and everything. And what the next couple months we're going to look like. And a year later, look at what's happened. But my point is, I remember posing the question to David Teal here. Was Odee going to give Virginia Tech any issues with Colton Joseph a quarterback? Well, behold, he is now playing for the Wisconsin Badgers. It's off one for Wisconsin the other night. But I still think he's to have a pretty good year. Predictable, but tough one. Predictable, but tough one. Predictable, but tough one. But a little bit different person off road to you this season. But Teal, your boots on the ground on the 757. Virginia Tech is an 18 and a half point favorite in this game. Do you see Odee giving Virginia Tech any issues whatsoever?
And even if not, what's maybe your early look on the monarchs going into this weekend's game? Not a betting man car, so I wouldn't touch the line. But yes, I think it will be competitive at least for a while. And mainly because perhaps solely because I think all the demands defense is quite good. They were top 25 in the country last year. And darn near every metric you can look up. Scoring defense, opponents third and fourth down conversions, opponents yards per play, all of it. Sacks, turnovers. They were just really good. And David, you mentioned Blake Siler, the monarch's defensive coordinator. He's been with Ricky Erani throughout his tenure. And so have three of the position coaches on defense. So there's a lot of continuity there.
There's six starters back from that group. Plus some guys that were hurt a year ago and are now back healthy. And it's at all three levels. They're very good on the edge and linebacker. Franklin yesterday mentioned the safety's arguably ultiming his best defensive player. If not their best player overall is Mario Easterly, who's a very experienced safety. Where the issue for ultiming it is is offense. Devin Roche, the running back, is the only returning starter from a year ago. Ergo, that's five new starters on the offensive line. And I think that's where Virginia Tech could really make life difficult for a Quinn Heinecke. Yeah, line's 18 and a half. I think it opened at 14 and moved up quickly. A lot of that probably has to be because that offensive turnover. Because I think Ricky Erani is shown in time when he has a quarterback and he has tied to establish up.
They're pretty darn competitive. And I think they will be competitive this year. But that's just life in the group of six is you have a good season like that. Either you graduate a lot of people or people come in and swoop in and take all your really good players on one side of the ball. And then you have to rebuild it again. That's why you sort of see up and down result from them. But I think Erani's done a great job there and two and two here against the Hokies in the last four years. I think like Franklin said, oh, the old dominion has their attention. They're not going to go Virginia Tech's not going in this game. Being like, oh, they're just going to roll over them. That attitude cannot exist in the facility this week. And I don't think it does because what's happened on the field last couple of times. Virginia Tech and old dominion this weekend. Well, the full preview tomorrow, that's episode what 503 that's excited on podcast. Correct. Hokies in the monarchs. CW that's it. Noon here from Lane Stadium in Blacksford for Virginia Tech and old dominion. One more thing I want to talk about ODU before we move on to is, you know,
you mentioned how good of a job. Ricky Ronnie's done. Do you guys remember like that that weak timeframe after James Franklin got hired? All the rumors about Ricky Ronnie being his OCE for Virginia Tech here too. I guess my point is with that is that seemed a little bit far afetch because of the year ODU was having. But how close is he maybe to moving up if not to the power for to maybe a higher level of football if he has another good season till here in Norfolk? I'm like, I'm a big Ricky Ronnie fan. Not always a football coach. I just like talking to him. He's insightful. You can ask him big picture stuff and he gets it and he'll talk about it and shares opinions. I just appreciate coaches and administrators who are like that. And Carter, I think your point is well taken that if old dominion has another season similar to last year, when the Monarchs finished 10 and 3 that he could be on the market. Now he signed a new contract in the off season but as we all know those things are made to be broken.
He is a good offensive coach but he's got a new offensive coordinator this year. His old OCE Kevin Decker went to Memphis with Charles Huff where the Tigers are off to a 2-0 start. But he promoted from within. His receivers coach Cody Cook is now coordinating the offense. And here's a little nugget for you that my coworker David Hall had in his old dominion story this morning. The Monarchs have won seven consecutive games dating back to last season. That is the third longest winning streak in the country. But in Indiana and Notre Dame. Hmm. Come on. Programs. Yeah, Ronnie ten and three last year. He doesn't have the conference championship yet or the conference title game. And I wonder if you need that at the Sunbelt to be noticed.
I think if you're in the American you probably don't need that to move up. You can just kind of be one of the hot shot coaches that do very well. I think in the sun belt you need that, you know, conference championship game. or at least to play on that weekend and get everybody's attention to be able to move up to another job. But, you know, 10 wins last year has gone to a couple of bowls other than that. I mean, that's a pretty good job at ODU. And I think if you continue to do that, then you'll have an opportunity eventually. Well, and I think, go ahead, do. Well, just think of the challenges that Ronnie faced, coming to Old Dominion from Penn State and James Franklin staff. He took over a program that had bottomed out with Bobby Wilder, who, by the way, has now turned around Tennessee Tech at the FCS level. Bobby didn't forget how to coach, but it's just, there are sometimes when a coach and a program get to a point
where it's not going to percolate anymore. And Old Dominion made the change and then COVID hit. And Old Dominion canceled its season. Yeah, they didn't play. So they're Ricky Ronnie sits getting his first head coaching job and months later, it's like, no, we're not playing football this season. That wasn't a sunbelt thing. That was an Old Dominion thing. And that really set them back. So we had to overcome that. And then it's fascinating to me that James Franklin watched this operation up close and personal last season on the sideline at Old Dominion on a Thursday night, I believe it was, when they destroyed Troy 33 and nothing was only the second shut out in program history. And the first was during its FCS days. And there stood Franklin. This was four days before he was hired at Virginia Tech.
And man, he got a bird's eye view of how it all operates there in Norfolk. And David Seal here was the one who approached James Franklin that night in Norfolk, just for what? Two days later to be put out there by Pete Famel, that they were in early stages of talks for Judy Zach in James Franklin. Then a couple days later, he's the head coach of the hook. He said all percolates like he said together. But hey, one more thing before we get a break, this is a little bit more of a somber note, but I want to get some historical perspective here from David Seal and kind of hear about his, I guess, perspective on this whole thing. We are reaching the, this Friday's the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States 25 years ago, both in New York and in DC. Seal, the crazy thing about that, and you sent it over this morning and it reminded me Virginia Tech's first game after 9-11 was actually ironically enough at Rutgers, just what, 30 miles south or so if that from the North and South Towers in Lower Manhattan. You covered that game for Virginia Tech and Rutgers. You covered the game between Virginia Tech and Rutgers.
Hokey's won it, I believe, 50 to nothing, but 50 to nothing. What do you remember from that game and what it meant to, not only Virgin Dietzac, but to get everybody back together after what occurred that day in New York? Well, it's an oft told story in Virginia Tech football history but I think it's worthy of revisiting as we approach the anniversary. And first of all, Carter, the drive from here in the 757, up 957, up 95 to North Jersey that Friday, almost every overpass at an American flag, draped over it, some with people standing there and just waving to cars as they passed by. Because planes weren't really back in the air, the commercial airlines full force and it was just wild, just driving up there.
And then the game itself, there was a lone bugler standing on the hill playing taps at the stadium before the game and then the Hokeys come out of the tunnel. And Brian Welsh, unbeknownst to us who had lost his father, in a terrorist attack in an army barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, his dad Kenneth perished there when Brian was very young. And John Bolin, then I don't know what JB's title was back then, he thought that it would be a great idea to have Brian Welsh carry the flag onto the field as the Hokeys came through the tunnel. And to be able to tell that story and then on the game's second snap, Brian Welsh intercepted a pass and took it back
to about the two yard line. And it was just one of the most remarkable afternoons I think I've ever experienced in college football and it had not a damn thing to do with the final score. So that was 11 days after the 9-11 it's accident. Anybody played that Saturday, that would have been September 15th, did anybody nationally play and call it nobody played? Okay, I didn't know the answer to that. Everybody's game got postponed. I believe Carter, the Hokeys were supposed to play West Virginia and the game was played later that season. And I thought James Franklin yesterday was very moving, talking about his experience on 9-11. And he was at the University of Maryland, right there near the nation's capital, right near the Pentagon, where a plane hit. And he talked about that and how a teammate of his,
from East Strouseburg, perished in the tower. And how he, when he first visited the 9-11 Memorial, found that gentleman's name and put his hand on it. Martin Wartley, I believe was the name of the teammate from East Strouseburg and he mentioned it. And I found this too, you know, went up to the pinstripe bowl and one of the activities at the pinstripe bowl, even during COVID when Virginia Tech White, is you go down, they take the teams and the players down to the Memorial and, you know, Tiel and I are older here. Like we lived through it, we experienced it. It's a different thing, but for all these players, now that play in the pinstripe bowl, now they weren't even alive. I mean, at the point, they might have been like one or something like that. So, yeah, I mean, how many of you guys were alive when that happened? David, well, I wasn't alive. It got to be barely though, right? Two. Yeah, I mean, you have no memory of the incident.
So I think it is very sobering for, I mean, it's sobering for people that lived through it to go down there, but to it have not experienced that in life and then go see it like that. I have to imagine as it's eye opening for a lot of younger players. I went there to the Memorial, the last winter, maybe two winters ago. And I mean, it's, like I said, it's very sobering to go through the whole thing and see the sights and, you know, the Memorial outside itself, but then to actually go through the museum, it's pretty heavy when you go through it. And I would advise anybody to go and see that. I think it's an important part in American history and an important thing to go see. Andy, I think that event for folks of our vintage is similar to what the Kennedy assassination was for our parents. Yeah, it's like Kennedy, the Challenger explosion,
9-11, like the three, like that's where I was. I don't know if there's one been lately, and like, thankfully, because, you know, it's always a tragedy that people remember things like that, but yes, definitely for me at least, that's what it was. All right, and with that, I know it's not the best transition, but we'll go and step aside and hear from our title sponsor, Stay Farm here on Talking With Teal. Switching is easy. We do it all the time. We switch on the lights. We switch TV channels. Some of us switch partners while square dancing. Well, that's a stretch. But what's not a stretch is how you can switch and save with Stay Farm. I'm welcome back to episode 44. It's talking with CEO presented by Stay Farm. So glancing around the ACC and then eventually, college football as a whole. There are a lot of games that take place in the league this weekend. I feel like the one we have to start with was the headliner. And I think we mentioned on the podcast last weekend, the Clemson LSU game was so, so interesting because I don't think a lot of people expected Clemson to win the game, but they needed to look the part. Unfortunately for them, they lost 51 to 10. And at one point, we're down to 51 to 3 after LSU scored 51 unanswered points. So again, like it's such an interesting year for Davo and LSU is going to be a team that probably will contend to potentially win the national championship, but to look completely non-competitive in the game seal raises this question really. Even with the $57 million buyout and everybody's going to be talking about this, how bad does it really have to get for Davo to really feel the heat at some point this season? Oh, Carter, I think we're there. I know Nick has the graphic up on the screen.
The ACC went 0 and 5 in week one against its power four peers. And as well as the league acquitted itself a year ago in non-conference play, clearly it's off to a very disheartening start for the folks in Charlotte. And who among us please raise your hand had North Carolina being the North Star of non-conference victories through two weeks for the Atlantic Coast Conference. But your point about Davo is very well taken. The fan base is done. And to be so non-competitive and then to have Lane Kiff and tell reporters, including ESPN's David Hale, Postgame, I didn't expect them to be so dysfunctional on offense.
I mean, just a broadside at Chad Morris, in Davo and a quarterback situation there. And the fact that they put Tate Reynolds in the game, the freshman, when it was 31 to 3, it reminded me of 2007 in Tyrod Taylor going into the game in the same stadium with the Hokies down to LSU 24 and nothing. And Coach Beamer decided to torch his wrench shirt right then and there. Obviously that's not a consideration now. But to be just so overmatched on such a big stage and Davo acknowledged it afterward that he was embarrassed from a coaching standpoint, from a playing standpoint. And man, it needs to get better in a hurry where the folks in Clemson are going to be checked out. And here's an interesting thought, guys.
Clemson has a new president. And that president has been a majority of his career at Georgia, where they play big boy football, and where they fired Mark Richt because he was not contending for national championships. And this new president was there when they fired Richt. And Richt was very popular or just well thought of and just as a person and as a man, as his Davo in South Carolina. But he's got to win some football games and he's got to win some high profile football games. Yeah, I'm with you on that. I think Davo gets a little bit more grace on this. I mean, he has won national championships before something Richt never did. They're not in the ancient past. He is, no, I talked about 30 years ago. And now 2018 is now starting to get to be a while ago. But it has happened in the playoff era of college football.
It's funny, Tiel, you mentioned that 2007 team with Virginia Tech going down there in Los Nales, you. That ended up being a pretty good Virginia Tech team. They won the ACC that season. I look at Clemson a couple years ago against Georgia. Lost 34 to three in the season opener. And I think there was a lot of, oh, this guy is falling with Clemson. This program has passed him by. And that team ended up winning the ACC. There wasn't a vintage Clemson season, but they rallied. And they beat SMU and the championship came and made it to the playoff that season. Week one can be weird. So while I do think there are plenty of issues with Clemson, is it possible they just ran into the buzz saw of buzz saws and met an absolutely loaded and motivated LSU team in Death Valley, the Death Valley in LSU in Manrush, by the way. Just perfect storm of atmosphere opening
against a ticked off coach that's being sued on all fronts and they're threatening to kick LSU out of the league and all this stuff. Then they just meet up, a hyped up opponent that just beat the crap out of them. And then you can turn around and still have a pretty good season. They'll be interested to see how Clemson responds. Because I've seen people say, oh, dabbo's buyout is too big. Nothing can happen. No buyout is too big. Ever since Jim Boe Fisher in the amount of money that's being thrown around in college football these days, I don't think a buyout is any sort of shield or armor to protect these coaches from getting fired if people are just fed up. But I think if you look historically, teams can bounce back from earlier season performances like that, even though I think there are loads of questions on the Tigers. I want to read you this tweet from our colleague, Chapel Thaller, who's at dabbo, Sweeney's press conference today. Chapel tweeted, after the LSU loss, does Clemson coach dabbo Sweeney regret anything about his offseason roster construction?
He says it's too early to answer that question. And it's not a fair one to ask after just one game. Dabbo quote, they give you 12 games. Ask me at the end of the season. I'm sure that one is going to go over well with the fans. You didn't even close that to the game. They just need to get back into the security blanket of the ACC. Maybe they just stepped out of their comfort zone for a second and got pounded in this game. And then they're like, all right, let's come back to the ACC. Let's build it up here. Not maybe that's different because Miami, who is on their schedule coming up, looks to be pretty dang good coming up and maybe separating itself from the pack within the league. But there has to be some comfort in knowing that hey, this is an outlier of a game on their schedule. They're not going to play a team that caliber other than Miami the rest of the year. On the buy-out front, I guess. Guys, go ahead, too. How about Clemson's ACC over? Is UNC? Bellicic. Yeah.
Yes. UNC at home, Cal on the road, Miami. We will be fast. Just a couple of well-run programs. We have no issues whatsoever going on, facing each other on the field. Yep. And I think it's fair to say and feel free to push back. That yes, season openers can be very mislead. But they're also a window into off-season preparation by the coaching staff. And in the last four years, Clemson has been outscored in its season opener, 130 to 30. Guys, something's wrong about what's going on in the off-season in Pickens County, South Carolina. They should open up against VMI. They didn't have no issue. Look a lot better in the opener. People feel good going in the week, too. Yeah.
To me, it feels like it's just kind of a little bit stale down there. And the game's obviously changed. And you kind of adapt to an extent or die. And I think he's started to a little bit more, but is the train too far away for him to catch it? I don't know. It'll be once Clemson plays somebody more of its caliber, like that North Carolina game will be fascinating just from the standpoint of, if North Carolina somehow beats Clemson at home, like in Clemson, in Death Valley, like the Clemson fans might have their pitchforks out. After the stadium after the game, if it's the other way around, the North Carolina fans, it'll be fun to see that reaction. But I just think Clemson used to be this well-run, well-oiled machine that, where Tony Elliott was the OC in Bret Vennables was the DC.
And they had highly touted assistant coaches on the staff. And it just feels like as the talent both as players and coaches has left the program, the ABO hasn't necessarily supplemented it with as good as great as talent as he had before. And I think the shines kind of worn off. And as a result, they're sitting here staring down at a $57 million buyout. And that won't stop them. Or for a state, if it gets to that point. But does Clemson have that type of money, Tio? Could they buy out somebody for $57 million? Florida State didn't have it to buy out Mike Norvell. It's a hefty price tag. But I think Clemson is a little better position financially than is Florida State. But as Andy said, the ABO has a little more capital built up than Mike Norvell does with his two national championships.
It's a tough spot for a new president, for a young athletic director in Graham Neff. And maybe Dabo is forced to adapt further. It's fascinating to me, guys, that Tony Elliott left Clemson for UVA. And he considers Dabo his mentor. And he has adapted to the new era of college athletics. UVA far more quickly and adroitly than has his former boss, where football matters a hell of a lot more than it does in Virginia. And it baffles me as to why? You know, talking about the buyouts. I would have to imagine there's an offset in his contract. I feel like everybody has an offset language in their contract. He's 56.
You think if they got rid of him after this year that he's just like, I'm done with coaching. I'm just gonna go broadcast booth. I'm gonna go hang up by the lake and that's it. I would imagine he would jump back in at some point. So when you talk about these buyout numbers, it was like Franklin, last year. Exactly that. What was that number? 60 or whatever it was? Yeah, he was a big number. It never ended up being anywhere close to that. So I think sometimes you see the sticker price on these buyouts. You go, well, that's, you just can't even approach that. But it's probably more manageable than you would think. I'm trying to think, has there been a, like for a comparable, a comparable coach that like won national championships, but then sort of just kind of faded to the point where there was this animosity from a fan base at a place. That's a really good question. Jibbo Fisher. Less miles maybe? Less miles was certainly that way. They were fed up with it. National championships don't buy you a lot of time.
Everything, Jimbo went sour with him very quick. Less miles they wanted him out there. All right. Ed Ojoran. Got their, Gene Chizek. Gene Chizek was two years. Yeah. And they fired him after that. There is no like extended grace period. Now maybe you have two of them. Maybe because you have a little bit longer time. But I think fans are wise enough now to know when a coach is either a flash in the pan or just kind of the perfect convergence of all these like Ed Ojoran was the perfect convergence of everything at LSU. And Joe Brady perhaps the brains behind the ascendance of that offense and everything that they put together with Baro and Jefferson and Chase and all those guys. Just like at Auburn, it was Gus Melzahn and Cam Newton more than I think than it was Gene Chizek. And I think fans see through that they go, maybe these head coaches aren't the sole reason behind these national championships. Yeah. And that's why I think is so unique about Davo, Tio, is because he's been doing it for so long. Like he has been Clemson's coach for 15 plus years now.
I mean, he, and that's like, oh, it's 18. Yeah, I mean, I look at, like I feel like less miles might be the closest comp because he was at LSU for an extended period of time. But I feel like it's sort of rare for a coach to win two national championships and have success where Clemson was the staple of the ACC for so long. And now all of a sudden the era has shifted and Clemson's just kind of faded a bit. Yeah. And in that regard, David, it's similar to the end of Bobby Bowden. But Bobby Bowden was much old right than Davo is right now. And was essentially being nudged into retirement. And he mentioned Davo is 56, arguably in his coaching prime. He's been to the CFP seven times. He's been to the national championship game four times.
He's one, two. This is not a flash in the pan. But it is somebody who has yet to show in this new world that he can compete. Yes, they made the playoff two years ago. But they really weren't that competitive at Texas in that playoff first round game. And I just think the accumulation of evidence is getting to the point where it's going to be unsustainable if it continues this way. And again, your guys' point is spot on Venables and Tony Elliott left at the same time. And since Davo has croaked to find suitable replacements, he's promoted from within. He's gone outside the family, brought in Lincoln Riley's brother as offensive coordinator and then turf team after,
I think just one season. And now he's got Tom Allen, who he got from James Franklin's Penn State staff. And this is year two and it was supposed to be better. And Ellis, you just bulldozed that defense all night long. And here's just one other indictment of the situation there guys. Clemson had nine. Count them nine players drafted in the first four rounds last April. And they went seven and six with that squad and formed four in the ACC. How do you go form four in the ACC with nine dudes who are top four round NFL draft choices? Clemson's last year point four season openers, 2023, 20 to seven loss at Duke, Mike Elko's last season, 2024, Georgia beat him 34 to three in Charlottes,
2025 was last year's Ellis, you game 17 to 10, in Clemson and then this year 51 to 10 down in Baton Rouge. Remember that that was the rightly Leonard, Mike Elko, Duke team I believe. And then in 2024 that hyped up Georgia game. It I think it was a Bank of America in Charlotte was was never even competitive. So it you mentioned Tony Elliott. If they do move on from Davo, how quickly is Tony Elliott saying I'm going to get tied? Assuming he continues to win it Virginia to that job. If he wins big in Virginia, Carter, it would the name would immediately pop. And Tony Elliott is a Clemson graduate. Now he and his athletic director, Carla Williams are tightest ticks. And Carla gave Coach Elliott his first big whistle opportunity, not that he didn't have any previously, but he accepted this one. And they lived through that tragedy together. And I think that bonded them even further,
both personally and professionally, and further bonded Elliott to the institution. Now would would the call of the Alma Mater be too much? I don't know, but again, I think you're right if the Cavaliers continue to win. At a very high level now, eight and four probably and maybe not, but if there are another double digit win team, then yes, he would be a natural candidate. Now it's around the ACC looking around the conference. I think Andy mentioned Miami just looks. Grand of they played Stanford without four starters, I believe, but Cali, they just look a leap. 45 to six victory down on the farm. And then the two teams I really want to ask you about because you were high on particularly one and then a little bit the other two are Georgia second Cal. And again, week one is week one, but Georgia tech that's that's a pretty tough loss to Colorado down in Atlanta 14 to 13,
especially the way they did lose. And then Cal is an interesting one too with their quarterback and UCLA goes up to Berkeley and Bob Chesney's debut and beats up on them pretty good at least late in the game. So where are we at with two opponents at the Hokies are gonna see later in the season with Georgia second Cal? Wow, Georgia tech and I know Chris mentioned this yesterday on the pod guys. Georgia tech could not run the football. That's Brent Keys bread and butter. And they had nothing and they got the best portal running back out there in Justice Haynes from Michigan. And yet I think they finished with 51 rushing yards against Chris Marv defense and the Buffalo's. And the Buffalo's, that to me was the stunning part of that and you know as Key said afterward, they lost on the block field goal at the gun.
And his post game started with, even if that kick goes in, I'm still angry about how we played and rightfully so because they just lost offensively. Well the M. Mendoza was okay in the throw game and their defense was certainly probably, you give up 14 points at home, you expect to win. But wow, just the inability to run the ball was so striking. Cal, I wasn't really surprised. That's two first year coaches, but touch of a boy has never coached as a head coach. Bob Chesney's been doing it for 18 years. And I agree wholeheartedly with what Chris said, if James Franklin were not available or had elected to take another job,
Bob Chesney isn't black, is it? Yeah, I think it's possible. Bob Chesney's just a dude. Like he's just a guy that gets it and he's gonna turn UCLA around quickly. I think a lot of the focus with Cal is always on the quarterback and JK Astney played okay. I don't think he played great in that game. Couple picks late that were costly to Cal, but I'm looking at the stats here. UCLA ran for 277 yards and six touchdowns. Average to 8.7 yards per carry. Defense is supposed to be touch of the boys thing going to Cal. So there's obviously a lot of work that they have to do. Team wise to get up to speed and that's when I'm looking at it. I think a lot of us picked Virginia Tech to lose at Cal going across country like that. Suddenly I think that game is a little bit more, maybe I tell it to too much one way, thinking Cal would have that because of the degree of difficulty with the travel that goes on with that. So also looking at Cal, looking at Georgia Tech, maybe not quite as tough, Clemson, maybe not quite as tough.
Again, I got to see Virginia Tech play somebody, but perhaps this schedule wasn't as tough as we made it out to be in the preseason. You tell Marcelo Sockins and Jeffrey over to 8.7 yards per carry and their highs would light up. I tell you, I mean, granted it was Miami-Go-A-High, but our Duzies team, man, that's one team that I think might be better than a little bit undervalued, better than some people, some people other in the media. Because I think we are all pretty high on pad, but they got a quarterback and they're pretty stingy team. But I think the thing about Cal and Georgia Tech, like good for them for challenging themselves. UCLA, that looked like a fun atmosphere in the stadium. It was pretty good crowd. Georgia Tech Colorado on a Thursday night, like they were, the Georgia Tech Colorado game wasn't necessarily the most enjoyable because it was kind of a slugfest. But good college football to open things up and good teams playing good teams.
I think that's the important thing. Hey, one more thing. Yeah, did we just lose power? No, I'm just playing. So last night, SMU Florida stayed down in Tallahassee. So SMU hookies, car you had me. No, for these guys, they're all right. No, I like what is on this. Yeah, exactly. So SMU, one more team that is on Virginia Tech schedule is SMU, they get a Tallahassee and the spread was minus three last night, by the way, too. Last night for the Seminole's and the Mustangs. But SMU goes to Tallahassee and they win a late one against Florida State. So early thoughts on SMU after watching them. And Kevin Jennings played for the first time this season last night. Kevin Jennings is going to win you games and also drive you crazy. It is his MO and has been ever since he became the starter there two seasons ago.
We were mentioning before we started to record at Duke in 2024. SMU won a game despite losing the turnover battle. Six love. Last night for love and they still managed somehow to win the game. They were, to me, far better than Florida State. But you commit for a turner, you jump off side on an attempted field goal to give Florida State a first down, which the Noles then turned into a touchdown. And there were other miscues. And it's like, what are you doing? And SMU absolutely deserved to lose last night. But they escaped and they moved on. I still think they're really good. They just got a ton to clean up. Yeah, I think there was a tweet out there, Alec Lauer put it, well, SMU's in a dog fight
with SMU, well Florida State is also out there. Like Florida State was present, but it was really SMU fighting itself throughout that whole game. Yeah, I was watching that. I was doing a fancy draft, football draft, the same time sort of half watching it. And I was just like, how are they not winning this game by a ton more points? It seemed like every time I looked up, they were running down the field, but somehow screwing it up at the end. How much did the delay have to do with that? I don't know. The atmosphere down there, playing in it, first week type of stuff. But I think it could get really bad here for Florida State in the near future. This is their schedule coming up. They play Alabama at Alabama next week. Central Arkansas after that, I think they should win that one. I think I would never want to. Versus Virginia on October 3rd, which I think is a really interesting game down there in Tallahassee at Louisville on October 9th at Miami, October 17th.
Is Mike Norvel the coach after that? At that point that is a tough stretch. Alabama, Virginia, Louisville, Miami. And then Clemson after that, which you would have said previously, but now Clemson at home, you think, hey, maybe you can get it right. I just, I think you go to Miami on November 17th. And I can't imagine they can be favored in all these games where they play actual opponents. They could be two and five at that point. And if they lose that game to your rival on the road, where Miami's just hitting on all cylinders, I know that's not always how that rivalry game goes. But I can certainly see the possibility. And people in Florida State in Tallahassee are already on edge with Norvel. Every game is a referendum on him right now. I just think you continue to lose these games. I wonder if he's even the head coach at that point. Yeah, I thought Florida State played OK. But it's like, if SMU, there's so many penalties. There was one play in the game where there were offsetting penalties.
But like, I think SMU basically got bailed out because if it was, there was an illegal block, I think, below the waist. But had that not happened from Florida State side, it would have set them way behind the chains. Like, I was surprised. I think all three of us kind of looked at that SMU line. Like two and a half three. SMU should have this in the back. Florida State did not go look great against New Mexico State. I think SMU, I think, is good. But man, just a lot of mistakes. And I don't know, between that and the clock on the field and all the stuff at the beginning of the game, my biggest takeaway from last night's game, honestly. And as, I think we in the media really appreciate and understand the what goes in behind the scenes. What Taylor McGregor did on the broadcast last night in terms of sideline reporting and keeping everyone updated
throughout talking to the two head coaches. And both ADs were down there and ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips. And just providing updates for basically 90 minutes. I was phenomenal job and in sideline reporting. And like, it was honestly just relieving, knowing, hey, here's what's going on. Like I know a lot of people watching on TV are probably sitting there going, when is this game going to start? And took forever. Maybe Florida State is saving on the electricity bill ahead of having a fire in Norvelle. But we'll see. I know that Florida State crowd was kind of jeering Norvelle anytime to show them on the video board. It was wild. Watch on TV. Very surreal. Hour and 45 minute delay because of a power outage beforehand. It, I mean, that crazy stuff happens in college football. And that was definitely that definitely made it taking the cake for the weekend. However, I don't think it did because in Ann Arbor,
Saturday afternoon, you guys let off the podcast with it. We got to get to this to close out this podcast. So Western Michigan, Michigan, Ann Ann Arbor, Western Michigan had one the football game essentially. There was a Hail Mary attempt. Clock Get Triple Zero's it seemed like the game was over. It then went to reveal a review, I should say, the big 10 then put second back on the clock, apparently using a mystery clock that they only have access to dad the extra second. Michigan then gets another shot at a Hail Mary towards the end zone. And they hit on it to win the game as time expires. And that's how that went in. So where are we at with the whole Michigan Western Michigan situation and did Michigan actually legitimately win that game to you when you were opinion? Well, what we we missed it in the press box because David closed it out. We have the game over there in my in my in my defense. I did not think a second would like Hail Mary thrown and it's Andy. It's teal me. Andy were sitting in the press box watching in on my iPad.
And I'm like, oh, this game's over. Sweet. And I turned it off because the team started to clear the field. And then I checked Twitter like a minute later. And it's like Michigan one. I'm like, you're kidding. You're like, Michigan one. I take the blame for not being able to watch it. Oh, did you not see that coming? You've got to play to not only the echo of the whistle, but several minutes after that, when the clock hits zero. And did you see? Did you see the guy a guy made a video of crossing the street? And it was like the countdown of crossing the street three, two, one. And then went in an arbor. And a second, they had a second back on the on the crosswalk. And it's like, what are we doing? Well, I was sitting next to Chris here in the game. And I saw a text in one of our group chats like, oh, Western Michigan won. He's like, are you kidding me? 30 seconds later, they then showed on the video board that like the scores and everything. And it showed the Michigan in one 13 to 12. He goes, wait, you said Midwestern Michigan won. I'm like, yeah, they did. It's a very similar story. But anyway, Teal did Western Michigan order Michigan win the game? Your thoughts on the review process by the big 10?
Well, Michigan won the game. I shouldn't back because that's what's going to stay in the standings in the history books. But first of all, Carl, I think this is a testament to the ACC in replay transparency, which, by the way, was brought on in large measure because of what happened at hard rock between the Hokies and Miami two years ago. And that's the situation that a lot of people were comparing Michigan, Western Michigan to. But the big 10 doesn't have replay transparency yet. And the sport doesn't have it for most games. And the ACC still does. And it's just select number of contests. But the concept has to be expanded. And it took two hours before the big 10 issued its statement along with, to its credit, the accompanying audio and video
from the command center, which Matt Commissioner John Steinbrecker acknowledged in his statement. And even in his post game in Lance Taylor, the Western Michigan coach, God bless him. I don't know if any of us could have been as composed and measured as he was after the game, not knowing that the big 10 was going to issue that statement in the explanation and video in the audio to support that explanation. But man, he was so gracious when I think most of us would have just been pounding the table and saying, we got hoesed here. Yeah, I think people were like, oh, the big 10 came out, it was transparent about it eventually. He's like, not really. I've only seen like a snippet of like the corner of the audio and they're like, oh, it's one second left.
And that's why it is. It's like, you have to show the whole process of how you arrived. You can't just show like a very small thing that says, well, we arrived at one second on this and the clocks weren't synced up. At a certain point, you can't come out and just say, no, there's a super secret clock that only the officials know. I mean, this isn't soccer, which is like you don't know when the end of the game is. And they eventually blow the whistle once the ball is clear to the zone once penalty time is up. That's just not how American sports are played. And you look at basketball and the tenths of a second on the clock that go down, ticking down to an exact moment when everybody in the stadium knows when it hits zero, because the shot clock lights up with the ran around it. If we're going to be this precise with how we're talking about the end of a game clock and a football game, you're going to have to go to that sort of system and have tenths of a second counting it down. Otherwise, you can't just come out and vaguely say, well, we had a different clock. That's not the clock on the stadium.
It's like, those are synced up anyway. I just find the explanation unacceptable for people to be like, well, the big 10 explain themselves, not very well. And I think this was a game stolen. And if I were doing the top 25, I wouldn't rank Michigan. They just wouldn't be in it. They're not worthy of being ranked. They lost this game despite what the scoreboard said. And play well. Like what's the other part of it? In fact, it doesn't matter is they did not play well. Yeah. And I thought you saw even, like even Bryce Underwood, the quarterback for Michigan and the, like everyone involved, they were like surprised. Like they didn't expect it. I think they had just like come to terms with a little bit, at least on the field with the loss. Like Underwood throws it. It goes out kind of out of the back of the end zone. It's like, all right, that's it. We lost. And as I go, no, here you go. I think back to Tiel Teet, to what you said about Lance Taylor. I think back to, you remember Bryce Conference after the loss to Miami and just the way he came in? And he was, I mean, just pissed to be point blank.
He was not happy. And I remember like Stephen Gosnell tweeting, like we got robbed. Like that just the outpouring of emotions from that game. It's hard. And I feel for Western Michigan because it's a good job, man. Like I think everyone around the country is on the same page. And man, quite to start to the Kyle Whittingham era in Ann Arbor. That's true. The fact that the dad is his very first game is just like, you're on, you're on probably on bad terms with a lot of the fans from the jump. And I mean, I know they won the National Championship recently, but you already out of Tibet, started when he's like, you know, am I supposed to hate Ohio State? And it's like, I don't hate them. It's like, you know, when it points with your fans, we say stuff like that, man. Like that's not this nature. But to have that in the off season, then this be your debut. Pretty rough start. And I want to say you can't come back from that because you can. But I don't know.
Indure yourself to the fans a bit more than that. And what happens to Michigan this week? Who at Oklahoma? Nice. Drake it. Yeah. Somewhat reasonable line. It wasn't like five and a half. Yeah. I think that's why five and a half. I don't know. Hmm. Maybe Vegas knows Vegas knew what the Vegas news. New crazy. Vegas Vegas. No, the Vegas know that SMU was going to turn it over four times and outgain Florida State by 250 and only win that game by three points. Did you guys did you got lucky on that one? I don't know if you guys saw the tweet is SMU is the only FBS or NFL team in the last 30 years to have a minus three or worse turnover margin twice as many penalties as their opponent fewer rushing yards than their opponent lower time of possession their opponent and more miss field goals there than their opponent and still win the game. Yeah. So that's a not the Vegas knows. Vegas didn't know all that was going to happen. Come on though.
Hi, yeah. All right. CEO is always appreciate your time. Safe you're going to Charlottesville and Blacks for this week and I assume right? Two teams from Norfolk you get to see. And you was you assume correctly Michael Vicks first appearance in Scott Stadium since 1999. And the Hokies victory there.
