About this episode
By studying the self-sharpening mechanism of rats' teeth, engineers have developed more efficient metal-cutting tools. This application of biological design to human technology illustrates the superior wisdom found in the natural world.

Today's Creation Moment — Technological Secrets from God. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
Here a technological secret from God, coming up next on today's creation moment. And now here's our creation moment host, Ian Taylor. A new revolutionary design in metal cutting blades is changing the metalworking industry. These blades do not cut like a knife. Instead, the blade is fixed in one position while the metal to be shaped spins on a lathe. This new blade stays sharp six times longer than the old blade design. And where titanium used to make the old-style cutting blades dull, almost the second they were used, the new blades last up to 30 minutes. This wonderful new blade was developed by two engineers who got the original idea from a rat. You see, the rat's teeth always have a sharp edge. Engineers learn that this is because their teeth are hard on one side and soft on the other.
So as they wear, they always keep a sharp edge. This principle has lowered costs and enabled productivity to be increased since cutting blades don't have to be changed so often. Beginning in Job 39, God humbles Job with several chapters of questions about the wise designs found in the animal kingdom. God's message is, quote, Job, if you think you're so smart, who created all of this with such wisdom? You see, even the teeth of the rat are created with such wisdom that once we learn the principle, our technology was greatly improved. In view of this, it doesn't seem at all scientific to say that there is no creator.
