Now the Cisco kid in our gripping story, Terror.
The rigors of life in the Old West bred hardy men, but they were those who are not so hardy.
Like Martin Perler, Martin looked like a courageous man, but in his heart he carried a constant terror of death by violence.
As our story opens, Martin is lounging in the general store in the town of Aldrich Rossing.
He is talking idly with John Vicks to the owner.
The sheriff took a posse and went up north this morning, John.
It's him, worked for.
Oh, Vincent cattle rustling up at that end of the county.
Sheriff's going up to see what he can find.
How come you ain't with the posse, Martin?
Well, oh, the sheriff asked me, but well, I had kind of a misery in this right leg of mine,
lately in a church of me to do any riding.
I didn't notice the leg was bothering me.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Say, you know, John, I wouldn't be surprised at what sang Earl and Lon Ashtray and that crowd was doing the rustling.
Neither would I, but you can't make the sheriff believe it.
Not when sang this is brother-in-law.
That's strange, ain't it?
The sheriff's a mighty honest man, too.
Yeah, but sang it takes good care to act straight when he's around the sheriff.
Got him plumb buffaloed.
No, that's right.
Did Martin go out in the back room, wouldn't he?
Bring in half a dozen jugs and molasses.
I'd rather have some on the chair of the show.
Oh, all right.
You'll find him right up by the back door there.
Yeah.
Speaking of that, Vincent, what are these two metrics?
How do you sang it?
How do you learn?
I know where the money and that cash box, sir, though.
I mean, quick about it.
Oh, so that's it.
Come on.
We ain't fooling.
Keep your hands about that ton of turn off.
Where are you two, Caird?
He's hanging.
He's reaching for a bag.
I'm in the back.
Yeah.
Oh, that's it.
Oh, man.
We had to kill him anyway.
I mean, to tell the sheriff, that's a line.
Get the money out of that box.
What was that?
Let me take a look at the wind.
Martin Thurlow running for his house.
He must have been out back at the store.
He heard the whole thing.
I'll go after him, Shanger.
Oh, wait.
What do you report this?
He can't do nothing about it now.
So many other people live close to his house.
What the sheriff?
He won't be back left at dark.
Before then, we'd be back after Martin Thurlow.
Dora, Dora!
Yes, I'm right here, Martin.
What's the matter?
My land is white, the heat.
Shanger early, man.
Ask me.
Just gun down, John Bickley.
I was in the back of the store.
Oh, my silly.
You know, I was there too long to throw like a door.
They'll be over here after me.
You sure as places they will.
Now, Martin, you listen to me.
But they will, they will.
They will, I tell you.
Tell me down that rifle.
No, that wouldn't do no good.
You're shaking so you couldn't hit a bond door.
Dora, Dora, are they on the way over here?
No.
There's two men just arriving away from John's door,
driving in the other direction, though.
Why would you, I'd go tell the sheriff?
The sheriff's out of town.
And I wouldn't go out of this house now for anything.
They're arriving away as just a trick.
They'll be back in a minute.
Martin, Dora, go get some help for me, Dora.
Well, all the men in the neighborhood are out working.
They'll be somebody at the cafe.
Go there, Dora, tell them I need help.
Yeah, I never thought I'd married a man
with no more courage than a mouse.
Dora.
All right.
I'll see what I can do.
This is the town of all the crossing, sis.
Cool.
Deepancho.
As I remember, they're very nice to the town, too.
I don't think we know anyone here.
She goes, well, we did not stay long enough before
to get acquainted, Amigo.
Oh, come on.
Let us stop at this cafe.
Yeah, let us.
I just know how we, Pat Grede.
Pat Grede.
You could eat, uh, what?
Pat Grede, uh, anything.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
And, uh, everything.
Hey.
Oh, they are all over here.
Hey, you'd be good to get out of this cell, for a while.
See, we'll add many messages.
Go down from the north.
Well, see, oh, he's making trouble.
I'll say.
Excuse me.
But ain't you the fiscal kid?
See, senora?
I thought so.
You was pointed out to me when you rode through the town
here a few months ago.
I'm hoping you'll help me.
Well, by all means, the wind if we can.
What is your trouble, senora?
Well, my husband's mom's in furlough.
He ain't afraid, but he might be in.
He's just witnessed the killing.
And he's more than afraid the killers will come after him.
Do they know he saw the murder?
Yes.
And they probably will.
We'll be coming to our house, this girl.
Of course, senora.
And they come to the house after we eat, you know?
And finally, he could either eat everything.
Well, I'll get you up for meals.
Please come on back with me now.
Maybe you can talk Martin out of being scared.
Very once, senora.
And don't be too hard on him, sister.
I know Martin's an awful afraid cat,
but there I am, fond of him, just to tame.
And won't we dock to some little time yet, senora?
I know.
I've been thinking it over.
We've got to get Martin soon as possible.
Right up at the house and force our way in.
And we've gone down Martin and beat it.
What about his wife?
No way out of it, but he'd kill her too, lad.
Hi, ain't any hand to kill women.
And neither am I.
But our own next might be at stake.
She couldn't testify.
She saw us get John Bickster.
And we'll see.
Oh, her.
Oh.
Here's the house.
We get in there, lad.
That's gone with Martin.
Shootin' and make too much noise.
Whatever you say, senora.
And walk from here.
All right.
Wait a minute, lad.
Who are those armors just come out of their homes?
We got me, say, my under that big one's the Cisco kid.
Maybe we better move to your lunch, senora.
They're tellin' me who's a bad arm-bite to tangle with.
We walk him right over here.
Hell, I ain't givein' ground for the Cisco kid
and nobody else.
You two armors looking for someone?
Yeah.
What'd you look for?
That's our business.
That depends.
You were just pointed out to us as Sanger, Irland, LaNashprey.
Come on, senora.
Let's be going.
Little Mato.
In case you two were planning to call upon Senora Martin
Fertil, you'll be wise to forget all about it.
Oh, say so.
What do you think, say so?
Disco say so.
You ain't tellin' me what to do.
So you want to fight ain't that?
Don't want these other armors, ain't you?
I don't want them to go.
What I attend to this one, you ain't
You'll wait, you'll see.
Come on, get in on this water.
There was your armors.
Get out of my way.
I just stopped your part.
You'll fight with you in a good fit.
I'll keep both two asses there.
Anyway, you tried, poncho.
I must fight two of them at once.
Better hit a little harder like this.
Oh, for you, like this time.
As you like that, armors,
Cisco, top it, and you think, no?
Get up on your feet, you.
And you.
Take it easy with them.
This is your Cisco.
Ah, listen to me.
Both of you.
Poncho and I are going to stay around these town
for some time.
And if anything happens to senior Martin Thurlow,
we are coming after you, too.
And we'll find you, too.
Yeah, you ain't heard the last of this Cisco.
I promise you that.
Get out of here and stay out.
That's better than this, though.
Not so sure, Poncho.
Those two are desperate men.
If they would get once, they would get again.
They may come back after senior Martin.
Come on, let's go back to the house.
There, Martin.
You just saw how Cisco handled them coyotes.
That ought to make you feel better.
Why didn't you kill them?
Oh, now stop talking foolishness.
He had no reason to kill them.
And Cisco don't kill people anyway.
Now, come on, start acting like a man.
Sure, Cisco and Poncho, you can act like one, huh?
A goody to fight, no?
I'm thankful to you, Cisco.
But they'll be back, they'll be back.
They'll be more deadly than ever now
that you've licked them, Cisco.
So you're Martin, you are not using your common sense.
But how can I, when I'm facing death?
Anyone in your state of mind, senior, is dying 100 deaths.
Here, sis, I am, I know it, and I can't help it.
I know what I'll do when I get stuck outside of my horse
and right out of the country.
And leave this in your heart to the mercy of those killers?
No, senior, you would not do that.
I gotta get out of here.
I gotta get out of here.
Oh, dear, I don't know what to do with him, Cisco.
Poncho, not to know, need to see yours.
Yeah, there's a real problem.
However, Poncho and I will stay and see these things through.
Oh, my God, oh, it ain't far from that house, I guess.
I can't see you've done them on these trees.
I don't know if it's in cold water on this eye, am I?
That ain't a bad idea.
Oh, my God, that's just hope kids can hit hard.
I hope the water in the creek's cold.
So help me, I'm going to get Cisco.
I'm not by fighting with him, ain't?
Well, I'm right at it.
The sheriff in that pussy, you went back to town.
Oh, he better keep out of that sight.
Come on.
No, no.
The sheriff's going to find out about that chillingant.
Hey, you got an ID.
Sheriff!
Oh, Sheriff!
Yeah?
Howdy, howdy, Lon.
Howdy.
Howdy, howdy, Lon.
Howdy.
Howdy, howdy, howdy.
What happened to you, boys?
Run into it, thank you.
We were running into the Cisco kid, Sheriff.
That umperer around here?
Yeah.
Now, if I were you, I'd arrest him, Poncho.
What for?
He and Lon went to John Vicks' store this afternoon.
Just before we got there, we heard two shots.
Is that right, Lon?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, that's right.
When we saw the Cisco kid and his partner come running out.
And you tried to stop him?
No, not then.
We didn't know what had happened.
Before we went into the store, there was John dead
in the cash box open.
No.
Yeah.
Just then Martin Thurnell walked in the back door.
Well, I guess he'd blame me and Lon for the killing.
Anyway, we fired out Cisco was over to Martin's house
and we went over and tried to take him in for you.
That's how we got these black eyes here.
Cisco, huh?
Much of lunch for the information, panger.
We'll go right over to Martin's now.
Get up there!
Go ahead!
Now we'll see what happens to that Cisco kid.
Martin's asleep.
Let's go.
Well, that is not surprising.
Can you order?
He wore himself out with worry.
Perhaps he will be calmer when he'll wake him.
Thanks.
Who's that?
Stand back, Senora.
I don't know if you're done yet.
Is the panger ready?
Come in.
Home.
Thanks goodness it's the sheriff.
You go on for it.
Get your hands up.
On my mat, doesn't your sheriff?
I would like an explanation.
You'll get it over at the tail.
I hit John Fickster with murder.
But Martin can tell you who did that sheriff?
I know all about what Martin thinks.
I'll talk with him later.
Get going, you two.
Help that door.
Get the gun, step it in.
Thank you.
Let me do a tissue.
In the face of all these guns,
we will go over the sheriff.
But do not worry, Senora.
We'll be back here very soon.
But Cisco is not just giving in to the sheriff
or leaving a terrorized man to his face.
In just a moment, we'll return to the Cisco kid.
Now back to the Cisco kid in our gripping story.
Terror.
As Cisco and Pancho arrived at the cafe in Alder Crossing,
they were approached by Dorrathurlo,
who told them her husband, Martin, had witnessed a murder
and now was in terror of his own life from the killers.
At once, our friends agreed to help.
Cisco suddenly thrashed the killers
and warned them to stay away from Martin.
But Sanger, who knew his brother-in-law
the sheriff distrusted Cisco, told the sheriff
that Cisco and Pancho had committed the murder,
whereupon that official at once arrested our two friends.
Now, as Cisco and Pancho surrounded by the posse,
we are riding away to a level there.
Cisco.
See, Pancho?
How do you think you'd give in to the sheriff too easy?
No, I did for a reason, Chico.
What do you think?
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Of course, I have one of those killers to think
we were safely out of the way.
Well, if you convince the sheriff, we must have two.
But they mean to kill Senora Martin.
Now, when I give the word, we'll break through this posse.
Cisco, give the word and Pancho break through.
All right, you two, cut out that talking.
Is it against the law to talk about the weather, Senora?
If you're wasn't talking about no weather.
Who you weren't quite right, we were not.
Now, Pancho, up here, how?
Go to the gunner, hey!
You have to go, really, no.
Hey, we're going to the gunner!
Guys, open up on them.
Right, Pancho, right.
They're not out of danger yet.
Up here, how?
Go to the gunner, they should go.
They need out now, Cisco.
They might get you.
Just to say, we'll keep going for a few more minutes
before we circle the town and ride back.
We might not get out gone.
We cannot think of the guns now, Pancho.
We'll have to get along without them,
especially if we can.
Go to the gunner, how about that?
Go to the gunner, how?
Go to the gunner, how?
Go to the gunner, how?
Go to the gunner, how?
Go to the gunner, how?
Martin?
Martin?
You better wake up now.
Where are they, Dora?
Are they coming here?
Is who coming here?
Senora and Lahn, who else would I mean?
As I know, they ain't.
But Cisco and Pancho had just been arrested by the sheriff.
Why have he taken him to jail?
You mean, you mean I ain't got any protection now?
You arrested him for killing John Bixson.
I tried to tell him he was wrong, but he wouldn't listen to him.
Oh.
You better get right over to that jail, Martin, and convince him.
But then I'd have to tell him about Sangam and Lahn.
Well, of course, that's the idea.
No, no.
I can't do that.
It'll be make things worse for me.
How can it make things worse?
Sangam and Lahn are in jail.
Oh, I don't know, Dora.
I can't think.
They're gonna get me.
They're gonna get me.
They're gonna get me, sure.
I gotta leave. I got you.
Martin, you can.
I tell you, I won't stay here and be gunned down.
I won't, I won't.
I'll ride up to my fishing camp, Dora.
I'll be safe there.
You can convince the sheriff.
Martin, you crazy.
Maybe so, but I can't stay here.
You can ride up when them fellas are safe in jail.
I'm sounding up right now.
Oh, Martin!
Oh, Martin!
We're stopping here for a moment, Pancho.
Listen, for sounds of pursuit.
Oh, they have a hole.
Oh, they have a hole.
They have a hole.
They have a hole.
They have a hole.
They have a hole.
They have a hole.
You know?
Yeah.
Pancho, you hit the right now, sis.
Go.
Hey, one rider.
That's why over there, he's riding that horse.
For all of his words.
Pancho, do you think that could be so, Martin?
I should have hinted at this first.
But we both heard him talk about settling his horse
and leaving the country.
Pancho, tell sis, go ahead.
Pancho, think.
Well, what do you think?
Pancho, say so, your body's so scared.
If you're afraid to go out in the dark,
then that's your right.
They may go.
I know why that is.
In any event, over these trails,
in these darkness would be a long time catching up
with the rider to find out who he is.
You better ride back to senior Martin.
Mighty smart ideas, hang it.
Well, on the chair of Tourist Cisco.
I don't need a restaurant.
All right.
He thinks that if I have Cisco kids,
I'll record a road agent.
It's mighty smart.
But we don't wanna follow that pass
all the way to the jail,
to make sure they got to go in.
They'll get them in, don't worry.
Just go couldn't get away from them in a month of Monday's.
I hope you're right, Sangha.
Now we'll take care of Martin Perlo.
Oh, all right.
Make this quick.
We'd better wait a while, Sangha.
Wait, what for?
Well, maybe the sheriff will pin their killing on a Cisco
and if he does, then there's no need of us killing Martin.
Well, Martin knows we got John Fixer.
He'll find Levin sooner or later.
He'd make somebody believe we did it.
Come on.
We're getting Martin right now.
We don't have the doors, line.
All right, what if they have?
Pretty good at imitating voices.
I would take quite.
And the sheriff, door.
Thanks a minute.
You'll be the door.
We should always have our way inside
and grab her and get your handle run out.
Right now.
I got a signal.
I'll take care of Martin.
That's the door.
He's here.
Now we're going to let you talk, man.
But don't yell out.
Your value of life.
Where's Martin?
Oh, look.
Come on, where is he?
I wouldn't tell you too coyotes if I knew.
Answer my question.
You can't make me.
Hey, Sangha.
Martin used to have a fishing camp
up by the headquarters of a river.
Maybe he's going up there.
No, no. He ain't up there.
Yeah, no way you say that makes me believe he is.
Higher up line up on a gagging amount
and we'll take a ride up to that camp.
You know, life in the house now seems good.
But that is not strange, Franchion.
Martin would not want to stay in that house
with a light going.
He'll give his enemy too good a car.
Too good.
I told you, get up and have the way here for us.
Just go.
We'll do that in case you let me go.
We look to let you go.
Don't worry.
Be careful.
Don't worry.
Nobody has a denac.
It's possible that you're on the senior I've left.
Just to make sure I will try to do it.
You're going to need to do it a lot.
Or does my senior would?
I wouldn't like that much.
There is no one...
Sangha, Spanchion.
Look open the corner.
He's bound and gagged.
Light the line, Spanchion.
I would set her free.
Light the line.
Cut these ropes.
It's quicker than the one side of the lock.
There, senior.
The guy got a pure mouth.
No.
Oh, thank goodness he got this.
Those two desparados came here after Martin.
Did they get him, senora?
No.
He left the wild for their ride.
He's gone up to his fishing camp.
That's a rally when color passes.
Is those only find out where he is?
They, they guessed it, Cisco.
They're on their way there now.
Then tell us how to get there and we will start at once.
I only hope we will be in time.
How much further that camp line?
It's been a long time since I was up here.
But I'm figuring it's right around the next bend in the trail.
Hell, and maybe we better leave our horses here and walk the rest of the way.
Yeah, be a good idea.
Sound of the river and cover our footsteps.
We can cover our horses, though.
Let's go.
Say, you're a nice thord, Sangha.
That's you.
Yeah, there's Martin sitting on the doorstep.
The rifle.
All right.
All right, just nearing up.
How many puts and I'll let you have it.
I can expect you.
And that's no way to talk to company, Martin.
Yeah, you got a size double or wrong.
No.
How many puts I can?
Just nearing up so we can talk to you, that's all.
No objections to that.
Is there, Martin?
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
One more time.
All right, your head and fire.
I got the rifle together.
Now we got the tables kind of turned on, yeah, Martin?
Are you there?
Are you going to kill me?
Are you sure of?
We can't have you around us, tell how we got Jon Victor.
All right, boys.
All right, I've been an awful coward on my life.
I thought I'd be mindy scared, but now that time's come...
Well, at least I can do it!
I'm fighting!
Well, what do you know?
Gone with him now!
We'll see whether you do it!
That's a tough one.
I'll come and fall on land.
That is good, but you are not going to do over it!
I've got something to say or it's just...
I'll get him soon!
Or you should do quickly, your aim is poor!
Be your last chest now to do any funny for some time!
Well, that don't go for me!
He's gone, he's gone, he's gone again!
I'm watching him, Pancho!
I'll pick that gun out of his head!
Ah, good enough!
Pancho, jump on these zombies and knock the windows from him!
And now, Pancho, have a show of speed to watch the fight!
No!
Only thing Pancho, I think the fight was a last one!
I'm hoping it will not, Pancho!
I'm going to try to knock this country out as soon as possible!
Very good, this is good!
That cricket in there is possible!
Get that gun, Pancho!
Tie them so they cannot get away!
I'm going to attend to say a Martin!
I heard what he said as we were running up to this camp,
and I believe now he knows the meaning of the word courage!
Oh, Cisco, you know you're just wonderful!
Oh, I am far from wonderful, Senora, but that is...
Oh, yes, you are too!
You've made a different man out of Martin!
Oh, he did that himself!
I had nothing to do with it!
He was fighting with those killers just as Pancho and I got there!
Yes, but you talked to him since then, and he did a lot of good!
I wish you and Pancho would stay right here and all across him!
Yeah, we will be back on your, you may depend upon it!
But you have nothing to worry about from those killers!
Sheriff finally realized they were the guilty ones,
and now they are in jail, where they belong!
Most, and all thanks to you!
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
Again, thank you, Senora!
And for the time being, I'll follow this time!
Cisco, yeah, Pancho, then you're mad to go right now, no?
Oh, see, he has got it over being caught with the Pandero, see?
Well, what are you laughing at, Pancho?
You know, they remind Pancho, his friend Rudolfo,
well, what about Rudolfo?
You know, the last time Pancho saw Rudolfo,
he got a, where did you call it, Cisco?
Oh, man, I just have a mic with me, see?
Oh, oh, he got a cricket on the back!
Oh, you mean a cricket in the back, I make all?
He had cricket in the back!
In fact, he tells Rudolfo what to do about it!
Well, what did you tell him to do about it, Chico?
Pancho tells him to take a mustard blaster!
That was the right thing to tell him,
and did he take a mustard blaster?
Yes, he's going, he's taking mustard blaster!
Well, what is so funny about that, Pancho?
He punch, he punch, he punch, he punch his,
it's funny, Rudolfo, the next day.
He punch his last Rudolfo!
How he liked the mustard blaster,
and Rudolfo said,
all right, but it's so hot,
he'd almost bite my tongue up!
Oh, Pancho, oh, as he goes!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
And so ends another exciting adventure with O'Henry's famous Robin Hood of the West,
the Cisco Kid.
Be sure to listen again for another thrilling adventure of the Cisco Kid.
This go kid was played by Jack Mather.
