The Long Horns are still dancing.
Texas takes down BYU 79-71 to advance to the round of 32.
The Lockdown Long Horns post-game show starts now.
It's up.
You are Lockdown Long Horns, your daily podcast on the Texas Long Horns.
Part of the Lockdown Podcast Network.
Your team, Every Day.
Welcome in.
You are Lockdown to the Texas Long Horns.
I'm your host, BK, Brad Kellner, what a game.
What a game and what a win for the Texas men's basketball team.
The Long Horns survive and advance again, three days, two games, two wins for Texas in
the 2026 NCAA tournament, two upsets for Texas in this NCAA tournament.
Of course, on Tuesday night, Texas took down NC State in the first four in Dayton.
And then in what was basically a road game, the Long Horns playing BYU in Portland, Texas
as a two and a half point underdog, according to our friends at Fandall, controlled this
game.
Pretty much from the opening tip, Texas led for 98 percent of this game.
They led by as many as 17 things got a little closer than anybody wanted, but such as
his life in the month of March, and when it mattered most, the Long Horns were able
to find a way to get the job done.
What a huge win for Texas basketball and not a lot of people saw this coming with the
way the Long Horns finished the regular season with the way they bowed out in the opening
round of the SEC conference tournament.
There are a lot of people who had given up on this team, a lot of people who had turned
the page started focusing on, okay, what Sean Miller's roster going to look like in
year two.
Hope you didn't jump off the bandwagon just yet because this team is not finished.
What a gutsy, gritty performance by this Texas basketball team on both ends of the floor,
holding a very high powered BYU offense, a group that averages 84 points per game to
just 71 in this one the night, AJ DeBonza, yeah, he got his we'll talk about him a lot.
You tip your cap.
There's a reason that guys likely going to be the number one overall pick in this summer's
NBA draft.
There's a reason that dude leads the country and scoring at 25.3 points per game.
He is a freaking monster, but outside of him, BYU didn't get a whole lot from anybody
else.
Robert Wright, the third averages over 18 points per game, Texas held him to just 14.
He was seven of 17 shooting BYU as a team, just four of 22 from beyond the three point
line.
That is 18%.
The Longhorn seemed comfortable with AJ DeBonza kind of getting his, it was kind of uncomfortable
to watch that guy just take over the game the way that he did, but the Longhorn's clearly
they were like, you know what, we'll let AJ do his thing, but we're going to make sure
these other guys don't beat us, and that's exactly what Texas was able to do.
And I would argue we've seen the two best defensive performances of the entire season from
Texas in these first two games of the NCAA tournament against two very good off fences.
In C state, they had the 20th ranked offense in terms of Ken Pomufficiency going into
Tuesday.
Texas held them to just 66 points, BYU had the 10th best offense in terms of Ken Pomufficiency
going into today and Texas held them to 71.
And I know no Richie Saunders for BYU, they were short handed, but that's still a BYU
team without those guys who put up 105 points in a big 12 tournament game, a couple of
weeks ago.
That's a BYU team that started the year in the top 10.
That's a BYU team that opened the season 16 and one.
That team is loaded with talent, maybe the best player in college basketball in Texas
again.
And what was pretty close to a road game was able to not only win, but handle their business
from start to finish my goodness, everything was great, except for modest focus, Titus
at the free throw line, holy crap.
I don't want that guy to leave the gym until he makes four free throws in a row.
I feel like usually you want to say like 10 or something, but for modest, can we just
get four?
Hell, can we just get one?
He missed his last seven of the game.
He was 0 for seven at the foul line in the second half.
That was the only thing kind of keeping BYU in the game and they went hack a shack on
modest towards the end and modest, unfortunately, still couldn't deliver.
He was missing him short for a while, then he tried to overcompensate.
He was missing him left, right short, he was missing him every which way.
And I kind of hate that for him because it takes away such an amazing performance that
he had.
Like first half double double, modest had what 15 and 11 at a time end of the game with
23 points and 16 rebounds.
It would have been a lot more if again, he could make his free throws.
He missed eight free throws, could have been a 30 point double double for modest, Vulcan
Titus tonight.
If he just took care of business at the foul line and look, thankfully, Texas had built
up a big enough lead where those free throws didn't hurt them.
But that's two games in a row.
I mean, the long horns as a team missed eight foul shots against NC State in a game that
they needed basically a buzzer beater in the final second to win.
They missed nine free throws as a team tonight and allowed BYU to get back into the game.
But again, thankfully, Texas had done enough right over the majority of this game to where
it did not cost them their season.
But there we go.
There's the right background.
Obviously though, that's something that Texas has to get better at.
Really, that's something that modest Vulcan Titus has to get better at before the long
horns take the floor on Saturday for a round of 32 match up against the winner of Gonzaga
and Kennesall State.
I think we're all Owls fans tonight, right?
Like we got a roof of the 14 over the three.
The way Texas is playing right now, maybe they can beat Gonzaga anyways.
And Gonzaga is a little bit short-handed right now.
We'll see if Braden Huff is able to go on Saturday if they beat Kennesall State.
But I'm pulling for the owls.
Maybe you're watching this and that game's already decided, so none of that makes sense.
But look, I'm just glad we get to talk about another Texas basketball game.
A lot of y'all at the out of this team.
A lot of folks commented to this show and my radio show on Tuesday saying mail it in
BK Texas has no chance against NC State.
What happened?
They won.
Then there was more of, okay, yeah, NC State, but they're not very good now.
This is BYU.
They got AJ to sponsor.
There's no way they're going to be able to stop this guy.
There's no way they're going to be able to beat this team.
You're crazy BK for picket Texas to win.
You're crazy to think that they even have a chance.
Look, this is not me patting myself on the back here.
This is me telling you how to keep doubting because it's working.
It's working.
So tell me that Texas has no chance against Gonzaga or Kennesaw State on Saturday because it's
fueling them.
It's fueling them.
Well, I'm going to pretend that it's fueling them.
That was amazing.
That was absolutely amazing to watch.
What a performance right out of the gate.
Look, Texas offensively was so good in the first half.
They went into one of their patented droughts in the final 10 minutes of the game, which allowed
BYU to close the gap a little bit.
It wasn't just modest missing free throws.
Texas had some bad offensive possessions where there was way too much dribbling and some
jacked up threes towards the end of a shot clock.
I couldn't quite figure out why they stopped being so aggressive and so attacking and really
feeding modest spoke at Titus because they had no answers for them in the first half.
It kind of felt like Texas went away from them a little bit on the low block.
In the second half, Texas played with their food a little bit.
But in the first half, offensively, the Longhorns were really, really good.
Jordan Pope hit a three, the opening possession of the game came highly.
How about that nasty put back, Tonk?
It feels like six hours ago at this point.
He also hit a three early on from on mark, hit a three.
I mean, Texas went on an eight, oh, run.
The Longhorns were down 21 to 20 and it's like BYU was kind of getting everything they
wanted offensively, but Texas was matching them bucket for bucket.
Then Texas went on an eight, nothing run to go up by seven and they were kind of in control
of the game, the rest of the way.
There were some tense moments, of course, but BYU did not come back and take a lead after
that.
The largest lead of the game for BYU tonight was was one point.
And I think, I think if you're Texas fan, you can live with that.
The Longhorns again led 98% of the way.
The one lead that BYU had was 21 to 20 when I talked about it.
And Texas goes on that eight, nothing spurred.
They take the lead and they played with it for pretty much the entire game.
Standout performances.
Man, Tramon Mark picked up kind of right where he left off, hit some huge free throws in
the final minute.
He continues to be unbelievably clutch, but he had 19 points on six of 13 shooting, three
of six from beyond the arcs.
Some great defense.
Tramon Mark had four blocks in this game.
Now you're going to look and everyone's going to look at Aj DeBonce's point total in
say, well, 35 points, Texas did a horrible job defending him.
Were they great?
No.
Did we expect them to be great?
No.
A lot of teams who defend a lot better than Texas have struggled to stop that guy.
He's just that good.
But we talked about it this morning.
There's a difference between Aj DeBonce going for 30 on 12 of 15 shooting than him going
for 30 on like 12 of 25 shooting, and he was 11 of 25 from the floor today.
One of seven from beyond the arc.
He was 12 of 12 with the free throw line.
I think we are all worried with the fouling virus that the long horns have had all year
that he was going to be living at the line for a little bit.
And he made all of them to his credit, but 11 of 25 against a player that good on a defense
that has struggled as much as this defense had.
I can live with that.
I think we can all live with that.
And again, the best part of the Texas defense was nobody else did anything.
I mean, BYU had four bench players play.
They combined for zero points.
They didn't get really any contributions from anybody not named the Bonza or Robert Wright.
And those two guys combined were 18 of 52 from the floor in this game.
That's Texas.
Look, it's March.
This is what you're supposed to do.
It's due or die.
And we didn't see this level of desperation from Texas down the stretch in the regular
year.
Right?
It's all they needed was one more win against Arkansas or against Oklahoma or against
Ole Miss.
And they wouldn't have had to worry about the first four.
And we were wondering, okay, can they turn it back on?
They haven't been desperate enough.
Can they pick it back up right now or are they too dejected or are they too checked out
on the year?
Clearly, they were able to turn it on.
And they have been a different team since the NCAA tournament got underway and give Sean
Miller credit.
And that's a big part of the reason why Texas hired Sean Miller.
I know he's never been to a final four.
I understand that.
And I'm not saying this is the team that can do it, although, hey, they're off to a pretty
good start.
But like this is a very experienced tournament coach who is now ten and four in his career
in round of 64 games.
Got a lot of experience way more than Kevin Young on the other sideline.
And I think he's out coached Will Wade and Kevin Young in these first two games of the NCAA
tournament.
We'll give him his flowers for getting these guys to buy back in.
It's tough.
When you get bounced early in the conference tournament and you're not sure if your team's
going to play again, you're practicing, but everybody kind of knows in the back of their
mind.
Well, if our name doesn't get called or season's done, he kept the guys engaged.
He kept them locked in and despite the travel, y'all, Texas didn't leave Dayton until three
a.m.
Wednesday morning after that first four game.
They had to four and a half hour flights to Portland, Oregon.
They didn't get in there till deep into the morning.
They slept a little bit, but then they had practice and they had press availability and
they were running on fumes and adrenaline.
And there's not much rest for this team because the next game's on Saturday.
So they're going to have to find that energy again, but the travel schedule, the home court
advantage.
There was not a lot on paper favoring Texas in this basketball game.
And again, they were in control in this one.
I mean, wow, I picked Texas to win.
I don't want to say it was easy because the final couple of minutes were very, very stressful
and I was doing a lot of yelling at the television, but I didn't see it coming like this.
I didn't think Texas would lead by nearly 20 at one point in this game.
And again, play with the lead for like 99% of the day, big keys from a stat department.
By the way, I fell to watch in the live on YouTube.
Please comment.
We'd love to get y'all thoughts or respond to them in a moment.
I'd appreciate you guys tuning into the live stream Texas on the glass.
They were plus nine.
That's big.
That's energy.
That's effort.
That's desire.
That's wanting it more than the other team modest himself had 16 rebounds.
He was a beast on the glass.
We talked about BYU not having a real answer for him.
Their tallest starter is actually AJ DeBonza, but he's obviously not a center.
So their center is six foot eight, four inches shorter than modest focus Titus 20 pounds
lighter than modest focus Titus.
I felt like that was an opportunity for Texas to exploit a weakness in BYU's game there.
And again, outside of the free throws, there was no answer.
Her modest focus Titus in this game, but Texas plus nine on the glass.
The long horns.
Here's a big stat, something that we're going to bring up when talking about Saturday's
game or previewing Saturday's game.
Texas is now 18 and four this year when winning the rebounding battle by five or more plus
nine today, plus 12 against NC State.
Very impressive.
They are one in eight when tying or losing the rebounding battle in that one win came
against a rider in the noncon.
So they have not beaten a good team all year when they have been beaten on the glass rebounding
extremely important to this team and Texas isn't alone in that stat, but that's a pretty
telling one right there when the long horns are good on the glass.
It helps them 16 offensive rebounds to a lot of second chance opportunities for Texas.
That made a big difference and just balanced scoring for this long horns team, especially
in the first half.
But the big four, all of them ended in double digits, modest with 23, Tramon Mark with 19,
Dalyne Swain 14, Jordan Pope 11.
And the thing is Dalyne Swain, he was a lot better today than he was on Tuesday.
At five turnovers against NC State had just one tonight.
He hasn't had a patented Dalyne Swain game yet like the guy average is 18 a game.
He had 12 the other night.
He had 14 today.
Texas has beaten two pretty good teams despite not getting their best from their best player.
So that's maybe a reason for positivity.
Now Dalyne's got to get it going, obviously, and again, he did a lot of good things in
this game.
So it's not the take a shot at him.
My point is he's capable of playing better.
And if Texas is going to beat potentially a three seed in Gonzaga on Saturday, it would
be who've them to get a little bit more out of number three on NBA scouts in the building.
Obviously, they were impressed with AJ DeBonza again, Dalyne Swain did some good things tonight.
But we all know he's capable of doing a bit more.
Texas 47%, 36% from beyond the arc nine turnovers, which is their fewest and their last
I think seven games, they've been a turnover machine offensively.
They also did a much better job handling the press in this game.
Some scary moments in the final minute, I get it.
But for the most part, I mean, BYU was trying to turn up the pressure and they did it
pretty early.
They saw how much the longhorn struggled towards the end of that NC State game.
And they're like, oh, we're going to see if they can handle it.
You could tell Sean Miller and his coaching staff worked on that a lot in practice.
Was it perfect?
No, was it a hell of a lot better than the other game?
Yeah, no question.
You cannot debate that at all.
And yeah, like Dalyne Swain, he's the best player.
I would love for him to take over a little bit more at the ends of games.
He can win one on one.
Now you've got your Mon Mark, who's incredibly clutch, Mon has had a great game.
He was a matchup nightmare again, struggled at the free throw line, but did everything else
really well.
So it's not like Texas doesn't have any other options when they need a bucket in a big
moment.
But yeah, just I'd like to see a little bit more aggressiveness from Dalyne Swain in
these big spots.
Shout out to Jordan, Pope.
You know, we look at his stat line 11 points, just four of 11 shooting, but that corner
three that he hit.
It was a four point game.
Crowd was getting into it.
BYU had a lot of momentum just under two minutes to go.
Madis was missing all these free throws.
BYU was making all of their free throws and all of a sudden it's a two possession game.
And it felt like it was a toss up at that point.
He was waiting the shot clock.
I'll give Dalyne Swain credit for this.
You can, you can be involved in a game without scoring.
And he drove drew the attention of the defense when he got into the paint, kicked it out
to Jordan, Pope in the corner, buried the three, huge three, biggest shot of his career,
biggest shot of his career.
I hope he has a few more bigger ones coming up and the rest of this dance.
But that was absolutely massive, felt like a dagger and then a couple of defensive stops
for Texas.
Well, surprise, AJ DeBonza got so passive.
Maybe he ran out of gas, considering he played 40 minutes in this game.
But Madis Vokititis, everyone's going to dunk on him for his free throws.
He had a huge block on defense.
The announcer for saying take him out of the game, eventually Sean Miller did when Texas
got the ball back, which was smart.
They left him in for defense, Madis had a huge block.
You had Cam Heidi with a huge save on a different possession to get the ball back in after
a defensive stop for Texas.
Shaman Mara kid, a couple of big free throws.
There was a lot of clutch from this Texas basketball team tonight and it was a total
team win.
It was a total team win.
You don't win games at March with just one player, ask BYU.
You do not win games in March with just one player.
I don't care if it's the best player in the sport.
I don't care if it's the number one pick in the draft.
This has always been a team game.
Because as a team showed up and they outplayed BYU squad tonight, no fans or butts about
it.
That was awesome.
Yeah, Mark and Poper huge.
Madis wasn't pleased except for the free throws down the stretch.
Again, I hope I'm glad Texas didn't lose this game for a billion different reasons, but
I would have felt so bad for Madis Focatitis because the storyline would have been, well,
he choked.
He's the reason Texas lost.
He totally collapsed and it would have been hard to argue, but it was also like, guys,
he was the reason Texas had the lead.
He had 23 points and 16 rebounds.
I'm glad like that isn't completely more because of him costing Texas the season at the
free throw line.
So thank God the long horns were able to do enough to get it done.
Dying in plain sights has most assists in the game all year.
Is that right?
Fourteen?
Maybe Dale and Swain with six.
I'm going to double check that statter.
Let me know what that statter is dying in plain sight.
How Jay Billis had Texas go into the sweet 16.
He had Texas beating NC State.
Before that game happened, he had Texas beating BYU.
He's got Texas beating Gonzaga.
Maybe the Billis straighter was was on to something.
Obviously a big one coming up on Saturday, Gonzaga is a lot better.
And again, I don't know the score.
I probably should be checking my phone.
I do have the ability to do that on this Gonzaga Kennesall State game.
Maybe it hasn't even started yet.
It might be tipping off like right now.
Yeah, Kendall Weaver hustle.
I mean, it wasn't the same stat line for Kendall Weaver, right?
He had that double, double his first career, double, double on Tuesday.
He kind of figured it wasn't going to be another double, double for Kendall Weaver.
But yeah, he flies all over the place.
Five points, three boards, played some solid defense and just energy, effort, intensity,
the normal Kendall Weaver stuff.
The reality of this situation is Texas is not a very deep basketball team.
Kendall Weaver is kind of the only guy that I trust off the bench.
Obviously, Sean Miller has to play more.
We're not going to go see Anna and just not sub anybody for an entire 40 minute game.
That was crazy.
But like this Texas team is going to go as their big four goes.
Nick Cody, Sim Wilcher, Cam Heidi mentioned he had five quick points.
He ended with five.
Those guys, whatever you get from them is great.
But you need the big four guys to show up and they did that enough on both ends of the floor, too.
Tremont Mark, four blocks, y'all.
And he was matched up against AJ to Bonsa for most of the game.
I get it.
The Bonsa got his, it's just what he does.
He's that good.
He was going one on five out there, but four blocks for Tremont Mark.
That was, I think, the best defensive game that he has had in a long, long time.
Man, I got a little nervous when that white guy hit that crazy three, too.
A caustic is his name, I think.
It kind of felt like NC State deja vu.
Remember the wolf packet three in a row where it's like Texas was defending them so well.
They're just hitting these crazy shots and all the sudden they're back in the game.
And it feels like our house is burning down and there's nothing we could do.
We're just watching from the sidewalk.
I was worried that that was going to happen again.
Thankfully, it did not.
Man, not going to preview Gonzaga a lot in this show for a couple of reasons.
Number one, we don't know if Gonzaga is going to win.
And number two, I've got some more studying to do on the Zags and this matchup.
I do know their point guard.
Braden Huff is out for this game against Kennesall State.
He averages like 17 or 18 points.
He's very good.
I do know Gonzaga is in a lead defensive team.
They've got Graham EK, who's the, I believe the West Coast conference player of the year.
One of the best big Ben in college basketball.
He is a monster.
And look, it's, I mean, it's Gonzaga.
They're always good.
They're always well coached.
I know they've got a reputation for choking in March.
They haven't won a national title.
They've played for a national championship.
Mark Fuser stud.
So it's a very, very good team that went 30 and three during the regular year plus the
conference tournament.
I get it to the WCC.
It's not an elite power conference.
So the record always gets a little bit inflated by the teams.
They get to go up against it.
You know, the other best team in their league is St. Mary's.
And St. Mary's got boat raised by A&M today, A&M solid, but A&M is beatable.
We know this.
They were a ten seed.
I don't know if y'all know this.
They finished tied for fourth in the SEC.
They made sure everybody knew that with that ridiculous traffic.
They tweeted out a couple of weeks ago.
But yeah, I don't know.
Like St. Mary's the second best team in the West Coast conference.
They got destroyed by a ten seed today.
So maybe that conference isn't even as good as I think and I don't think it's very good.
I don't think it's very good.
If we can't beat the press and stay out of that corner and crunch shine, we ain't going
to win anything to Texas have any super costly like there are some tough moments.
They almost had some turnovers, but they were a lot better in that department than they
were on Tuesday.
I thought that was a clear improvement in the press breaking category for Texas in this
game.
Was it perfect?
Was it flawless?
No, absolutely not.
But go watch some of these other games.
There are a lot of other teams who struggle to break the press in big clutch moments.
A lot of Texas handle things pretty well in this game.
And if modest could make his free throws, there wouldn't have been those crunch time
moments.
So I think the whole staying out of the corner thing, I get that's the verbiage.
I get that's what everyone says.
They're not supposed to inbound it to the corner, easier said than done because every
defense tries to force you into that corner.
That's the only place they're going to let you inbound the ball.
The thing is you can get the ball in the corner and Texas did this a couple of times.
You could dribble out of it.
If they bring a double team, you can find somebody.
You could jump and pass it to him.
You might not even have to jump and pass it to him.
You could break the double team with the dribble like Texas, just panic.
They look like they didn't know what to do the other night today.
They were more comfortable in that spot.
And maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe there was a turnover there, but I don't know a couple of close calls, but we'll live
with close calls in March.
You say we ain't going to win anything.
We want two games in the tournament despite not being able to beat the press or staying
out of the corner.
So we're winning stuff.
We play like Texas plays like they play at the first 35 minutes of every game moving forward
the way they played in these first two games.
Then if that's the worst of our problems, then we're all right.
Yeah, still not winning a natty.
OK, well, a lot of people said we weren't winning one game in the dance and we want to.
And year one of the Shaw Miller era, I think this is the worst team he's going to have.
And I think this is so huge for Texas.
Look, I hope they keep winning.
If they keep winning, this will make my next point even better.
Like the long forms don't invest in their basketball program the way they invest in football
or baseball or a number of other sports on campus.
I don't think I'm breaking any news to anybody.
Texas in terms of just the SEC, they're a middle of the pack squad in terms of their NIL
investment into building a roster.
That's why they're kind of a middle of the pack squad in terms of the SEC standings.
And I'm only talking about this conference, not the big 12 big 10 ACC Texas doesn't spend
nearly as much on their roster right now as other teams do.
You get a coach who shows that he knows what he's doing.
I'm hoping this is going to make some big money donors be like, no, I see the vision.
I like the Shaw Miller guy.
He keeps it real and oh, he's winning games in March.
I don't really watch basketball until March.
Now I'm watching and this team's playing well and they're winning games.
Like that's the hope is that this is the worst roster that Shaw Miller has at Texas.
No disrespect.
Obviously to this team, these guys are fighting their tails off right now, but it's here
one of this coach.
Y'all feels like the arrow is pointing up for Texas and not a lot of people saw this little
mini run coming right now.
So yeah, they're not winning a national championship.
So 11 seed is everyone a national championship.
If that's your barometer for this being a successful season, not saying it is NIL and
revshare, but funny that that's your name because that if more of that starts coming
to Texas, they've got a better shot to at least get closer to competing for national
championships in this sport like they do in pretty much every other sport on campus.
So that's another reason why I think this this little spurt has been great.
And at this point, look, I don't want to lose.
Sorry, if this is a loser mentality, even bringing this up, it's like, to me, this is a
successful year one, getting into the tournament, winning two games.
If you want to say the first four, it doesn't count fine.
Getting into the tournament, winning a game, making it to the round of 32.
I mean, Rodney Terry's last year, Texas got bounced in the first four.
I had somebody when we did the post game after Ole Miss say Rodney Terry's the Rodney
Terry.
Shaw Miller's the worst hire that Crystal Conte has ever made and they should have kept
Rodney Terry because he's a much better coach than Shaw.
And Miller, again, it's two games of the tournament.
Shaw Miller era, the book is far from written right now.
But I don't see that guy in the comments tonight, not sure if he or her can't assume it's
a guy.
Maybe it was a woman who knows, don't see them in the comments today, Shaw Miller doing
a great job.
Yeah, they won't want that attitude.
Hey, I picked him to win these first two and they've got a shot against Gonzaga or
Kennesaw State, when I'm Kennesaw State, just telling you all right, a couple more minutes
if y'all have any comments, any questions, any thoughts, we'll read them, screens going
into sleep mode, it's telling me that maybe we should be wrapping up a bunch of other games
just tipped off.
So obviously, they'll be getting back out there and watching those.
We'll have way more thoughts on this game on tomorrow's show and we'll start to preview
whoever the opponent is on tomorrow's show.
Texas A&M destroyed my bracket today.
How far did you have St. Mary's going?
If you had them winning, like I had St. Mary's winning, which is dumb.
I think it was more of just I hate A&M than like I really felt that good about the gales
doing anything because they always blow it in the turn.
They stink.
How far do you have St. Mary's going if you lose a first round, if you only lose a first
round game, that's not going to cost you at all.
If you had Wisconsin in your final four, then you can go ahead and rip that bracket up
and throw it away.
All right.
Over my notes here, and if y'all have any more questions, any more comments, I got to
pull up Twitter.
I'm sure there's a lot of people tweeting out some very important stats or nuggets or
notes that would be useful for you guys to know.
Yeah, the offense, they have to find a way to stop.
I mean, it's basketball.
It happens.
These, these droughts that they go on, it just feels like at the least opportune times,
not ideal.
Again, when you build up such a big lead like Texas did, that you can stomach it and you
could survive it or withstand it, whatever word you want to use, but it's just, it's
not easy.
And it's not a Texas only thing.
Hell, North Carolina, they were up by 19 in the second half against VCU and they lost.
So we're over here like, man, Texas had this 18 point lead against BYU and almost
blew it only one by eight, sorry, 17 point lead, almost blew it only one by eight North
Carolina.
They had a bigger lead and they lost the game to an 11 seat.
So it could, it could always be worse and we are still dancing what a game.
All right.
Well, Texas be too worn out to win on Saturday.
I don't know.
I'm not going to doubt them that they'll actually, they don't have to fly anywhere this time.
They're going to get more rest between this game and Saturday's game than they did between
Tuesday's game and this one.
I don't have a four and a half hour flight that they have to take.
They get to go to their hotel hotel and, you know, watch this Gonzaga Kennesaw State
game and then go to bed.
That's it.
So three games in five days, it's brutal.
But look, when these guys, I mean, Sean Miller mentioned this in his press conference
yesterday.
And they were growing up playing a U ball in the summer circuit.
They would play three games in one day.
These dudes can handle three games in five days.
Is it easy?
No.
But look at conference tournaments.
Look at the run like Ole Miss went on and played four games in four days, almost one
off four.
So it's, it's possible in the stat.
Now it's 13 out of 15, y'all.
One of the reasons why I felt good about Texas in this game.
The first four is existed for 15 years.
It is now 13 of those 15 tournaments.
A first four team has won a game in the actual NCAA tournament.
Got a ride with history.
Also Texas was the only team with 14 losses that received an at large bid into the dance.
It's now seven of the last eight teams with 14 or more losses to receive an at large
bid that have won a game in the actual dance.
Hard to explain.
You would think betting against the team that loses a lot of games makes a lot of sense
but Texas is doing a lot of things that don't make a lot of sense right now.
It is crazy.
Audio problem.
I haven't gotten this from anybody else for us to make sure you check yours unless y'all
all tell me I have a sound problem.
Well, might as be back next year.
Yeah, it should be.
It's only a sophomore.
True sophomore.
So I don't, I don't think Texas wants him to go some, some longhorn fans late in the
year like get rid of this guy, get rid of this entire team.
Out of sucks.
He's a pump 23 points 16 rebounds in an NCAA tournament game.
You sure you want to let that guy go as a sophomore?
I get the free throws.
We can work on it.
He's a 70% free throw shooter this year.
He's a 70% free throw shooter.
Just a bad game.
Can't happen again, but he's been he's been better.
Oh man.
All right.
I think that's it.
I think that's it.
I'm not going to say first four to final four just yet, but I will mention the stat because
I've given a lot of like, uh, here's what happens at the end of the year.
There have been two teams that have gone from the first four to the final four.
Just saying how the long horns have three more games to win for that to happen.
Yeah, three more games to just get the Saturday.
Let's just get to Saturday.
All right.
That is going to do it for the locked on longhorn post game show.
What a win.
49 BYU 71.
The long horns pulling off their second upset three days to advance to the round of
32 this weekend.
They are still dancing.
Uh, look, if you're new to this channel, we talk Texas hoops.
We talk Texas football.
We talk Texas everything all of the time tomorrow morning, more Texas conversation.
We'll preview the baseball series top five baseball series.
The long horns at Auburn Friday Saturday and Sunday got some Texas football chatter to
get into.
And we're still dancing.
Oh, and the women start their tournament run tomorrow.
The Texas women's team.
I checked the old before starting this.
The long horns number one seat region three.
45 and a half point favorites gets Missouri State 45 and a half point favorites.
Something will have gone horribly wrong if the women's game is anything close to what
the men's games have been so far.
So we got another tournament team to talk about or basketball school or basketball school.
Only 10 teams who have made the tournament six years in a row.
North Carolina is not on that list.
Texas is.
Go ahead and call us a blue blood.
All right.
Now I'm getting ridiculous.
I think y'all know I'm kidding at this point.
All right.
I'm going to go watch these other games.
I'm going to go scout this Gonzaga Kennesaw State game.
It's six to two owls right now.
Go else.
Who?
You that's their chant.
All right.
The dad jokes are coming out.
We really have to get out of here.
