The Authority of Jesus

In Jesus' day, the scribes and pharisees were seen by the people as the authorities on the scriptures. They explained the scriptures by quoting past teachers and commentaries. However, Jesus spoke about the scriptures with his own authority. Jesus is God in the flesh, and he taught with the authority of God himself.
