California's powerful Democrat political establishment has spoken. They've selected their candidate
for governor. Xavier Basera, and now, California's liberal media, is circling the wagon to help push
him across the finish line. But Democrat progressives have launched a counterattack to boost their
favored candidates. Coming up, we'll tell you about the behind the scenes manipulation on the
Democrat side in the governor's race, and why Republican voters shouldn't fall for this narrative
that somehow Basera is a moderate. He actually will end up being worse than Gavin Newsom,
and we've got the receipts. All that and more coming up.
Either he was in on it, as I believe, or number two, he's an idiot when it comes to managing
the books. So why should we trust him with your money if he can't even keep a handle on his own
campaign money? I'm Carl Dimaio, chairman of Reform California, and a California state representative,
and we are closely following the California governor's race, giving you updates and behind the
scenes rumblings as to what the political establishment in our state is doing. Nothing is organic in
this state when it comes to Democrat politics. It's all plotted in planned, and that's how they
took out Eric Swalwell so strategically in the matter of hours. He was the front runner,
and then poof, because he was no longer useful to the Democrat powerful political establishment that
runs the show in this state. They cleared the field, and now they have decided to get behind
their anointed candidate, Xavier Basera. In fact, here's political. Politico has this story.
Basera goes from boom to bust. It talks about the money that's been flowing into his campaign since
the garbage was taken out. Swalwell's exit from the race. The fact that he's gotten big endorsements,
like a assembly speaker, Robert Revis, and Planned Parenthood of California. A bunch of unions have
come in to back him up as well, endorsements from all the establishment players.
But the story also goes on to talk about how progressives are not so happy. They're pushing back,
more on that in just a minute. But let me tell you about the polling. Basera is, according to the
polling, moving up. Emerson, which is a valid poll, showed that he shot up seven percentage points
in the wake of Swalwell's exit, to 10%. But Steyer is at 14%. And Porter's Nipinet, Basera's
heels at 10%. And in the Emerson poll, Bianco and Hilton are still in first and second place,
respectively. So that's the Emerson College poll. We'll see how things shake out. But
the polling that's out there, the Democrat Party, put out a poll showing Basera was in first place.
The polling is part of the narrative. A lot of times the political establishment will put out
goose up polling so that people say, oh, I guess if everyone else supports this guy,
I should also get behind them. So be careful of the polling narrative. That's out there.
And right now the narrative is it's being driven by the California Democrat Party,
to some of these political groups and media groups, is all that Basera is leading in the polls.
So what's wrong with you? Why aren't you getting behind him as well?
Steyer and Porter are hanging in there. They've gone up some since Swalwell's exit.
Newsom has not officially endorsed Basera, but oh, come on. From just two weeks ago,
Gavin Newsom's allies mulling dark horse governor candidate who's suddenly seen huge spike
in the polls. All of the chattering class says get behind Basera.
But those progressives, as I mentioned earlier, not very happy. They're covering a couple bad points
with Basera first and foremost is that, well, he's being supported by the political establishment
on the Democrat side. And they say, well, we don't like it when they support someone. So anyone
they support were against. They also have clips like this one of Basera saying how much he loves
oil and gas. Chevron, you know, that's a problem with politics. They're not the bad guy.
You need Chevron. I need Chevron. My people of the state of California need Chevron.
Chevron wants to give me a check. That's their prerogative.
He's taking money from Chevron, which is a big no-no. Oil and gas contributions on the
Democrat side. The progressives don't like that. Then going out and saying that Chevron is good.
Well, you and I know we need gas. So we're happy to have gas companies want to stay and invest in
California, brings jobs, brings lower cost fuel. It's the Democrats that are at blank crazy and
want to get rid of all these companies writ large. Basera has the audacity to say, oh, I like
Chevron. This is, again, the cardinal sin that's caused progressives to backlash.
Basera also handled an influx of the illegal immigrant migrant children as HHS secretary.
In the Biden administration, they basically said, oh, you know, how dare you? How dare you
house these children? You didn't do it right. You should have just released them to the
traffickers. I mean, the little progressives are brushing for. If they're not in the custody of
law enforcement, who are they in the custody of? Sarah did the right thing in that case according
to law, but no, no, they say, you should have handed them over to the traffickers. No, you
shouldn't be detaining the kids. You get a bad job there. Time and time again, the progressives,
they say, oh, you're not, you're not for a billionaire's tax. Basera has kind of hemmed and
haught on that billionaire's tax, but says it's not the right time. Which means that later on,
he's going to do it. How about a government take over health care? Again, hemming and hawing,
not sure if it's right time, but keeping the door open to, of course, doing it.
Now, before you Republican sit there and say, oh, maybe Basera is the lesser of all the evils.
No, no, no, no, no, no. He's right now just cuddling up to various interests because the progressive
lane has already been taken out by Porter and started. He's trying to get anyone who's not
completely bat blank crazy. And he needs the money of these progress, the establishment groups.
So he's cuddling up to them, but this guy has no moral compass, no belief, structure besides climbing
the political ladder. Tomorrow, he can be a far-left progressive. Right now, he just needs to occupy
the philosophical space as a centrist. That's what all these Democrats do. They sell them
themselves to the highest bid or no core principles. But the worst thing about Basera is no courage
when asked to give a grade about Governor Newsom's time in office. He originally off-camera told
the reporter, yeah, I'll give him a grade. Then he says, go, I don't know if I can give Newsom a
grade. What have you been living under a rock, Basera? To highest cost of living state, people
are fleeing the state. We have an absolute mess when it comes to homelessness. Schools are failing.
We have a 25% higher unemployment rate than the national average because we destroy jobs at a record
pace. You can't give him a grade? Bitch, please. You've been living in an Akoma or you're a coward.
Well, we know what he is. He's a coward. Oh, sure, he's a leadist. He probably thinks, oh,
why are everyone complaining? What is the price of gas like Sarah Jacobs? It's terrible that gas
is above $3 a gallon. $3 a gallon nationally. Have you been to your district lately, Sarah?
No, she's a billionaire, Aris, who's completely untethered and out of touch.
It's not just that Basera is out of touch with the pain and suffering that Newsom has caused.
He's a coward. He doesn't want to give a failing grade to Newsom. He doesn't want to state the obvious.
Basera also is as corrupt as Newsom. He's involved with this series of indictments of lobbyists
and political consultants here in Sacramento, the governor's former chief of staff, Dana Williamson,
alleged you have laundered money and stolen from various campaign accounts.
Basera was one of the victims. I don't think he was a victim. I think he knew about it. As I said
all along, these political politicians are always looking for ways to
be in the good graces of these lobbyists and political consultants, so paying them money to keep
them on payroll, part of my team as advisors is always something that's, well, preferred.
Only problem is as HHS Secretary was not authorized to pay consultants, but he needed these consultants
ostensibly, I believe, to keep him in the mix as he was preparing to run for governor after he left
the HHS position, which is exactly what he did. He denies, knowing about $10,000 a month payments.
Now, what is one of the biggest problems in California right now? Fraud. People stealing money from
the taxpayer. This is a guy who literally had his own inner circle steal money from him.
Month after month after month and he did not detect or do anything about it.
Either he was in on it, as I believe, or number two, he's an idiot when it comes to managing the
books. So why should we trust him with your money if he can't even keep a handle on his own campaign
money? Ashley Zavala asked that question. Here's the response. It was a good, a real good punch.
This scheme involved taking $10,000 a month up to from this dormant state campaign account of yours.
I mean, looking through your congressional campaigns, dating back to the 90s, never once did you
pay that amount for this kind of maintenance, for legal services, for nothing. Did you really
not, that wasn't, that didn't raise any flags for you, that those payments.
So we were paying for management of a dormant account, making sure that nothing was, no
laws were violated because I was Secretary of Health and Human Services, a cabinet member.
By the way, $10,000 a month is not management of a dormant account. And by the way,
the Treasury services were done by someone else. So all you need is a treasure just to file the
damn paperwork for a dormant account. This guy's a liar. That's why I say I think he was in on it. But
hey, let's hear him out. I had to distance myself from anything that looked political or campaign
related. I had ethics of rules that were in place that required me to distance myself. And so I
depended on people that I trusted to be able to manage that the right way. We were going to pay
for the management. You always pay for someone to oversee to file the right documents in the rest.
And I was, again, all those documents were part of a different payment. It's not part of that
$10,000. I was willing to pay the price to make sure that I didn't have to worry about it.
Lo and behold, while I was willing to pay a price. And by the way, the attorneys of the campaign
account signed off on all those payments as well. It wasn't as if there wasn't someone who was checking.
The attorneys were checking. And they were saying, you know, everything seemed kosher. What happened
was after the payments, the way the money was used is where the violation occurred. There was no
violation in terms of the payment. That's why I and my campaign were... You don't pay $10,000 a month
for a dormant account. Everyone knows market practice is maybe, maybe you pay $250 for a one-time
report every six months. He's a liar or a fool or both. When I said he could be worse than
Newsom, at least Newsom is clever. He's a much more capable liar than his crap.
So this is the, this is the, the horse that the Democrat establishment is going to back.
Mark my words. You're going to see a bunch of endorsements, a bunch of money, because this is the
guy that they think they can control the establishment. And then the progressives, I got to give him a
point. They're on to him. He has sold himself. I do believe Katie Porter is a real progressive.
She's bat, bat blank crazy like her supporters. This guy is just whatever his power barons,
power brokers, masters want him to be. Worst type of politician. No, no core principles.
But he is now the Democrat front runner. By the way, we need to just make sure we get at least
one Republican into the runoff, which is why I'm encouraging you to go right now to reform
California's plain English voter guide. We are worried about getting shut out in not only the
governor's race, but all the other seven statewide races, as well as state assembly, state senate,
city council, county board of supervisors, all these races at the lower part of your ballot.
Democrats are trying to split the Republican vote. That's why the reform California plain
English voter guide is key that you check it out, because we endorse one principled fighter in
each race to unite Republicans behind that one principled fighter to get them in the runoff so
that we actually have a voice in the November general election in each target seat. Please check out
the voter guide at electionguidecalfonia.org. That's electionguidecalfonia.org. Use it when you vote,
share it with all your friends and family. We rely on you word of mouth marketing to get word out
there. And while you're on that website, please sign up at the bottom of the website so that you
get text and email updates with the voter guide when your ballot arrives. First name last name,
email phone and zip code. You'll be tethered into our growing movement to take back California
from the insanity that far left by getting you that voter guide. Plus we give a plain English
description of every measure on the ballot. We found 90 local tax hikes hidden on local ballots
around the state in the June primary. All of them are exposed in plain English terms on the voter
guide at electionguidecalfonia.org. Go to that website, search your county, and you'll get a
complete voter guide. Easy peasy voting. Until next time, I'm Carl Dimaio, chairman of reform
