I haven't played a video game in a long long time, man.
I cannot remember the last time.
Taylor plays them all the time.
I think he watches people on playing video games, which is crazy to me.
Well, one video game he does not watch anybody play as Call to Duty.
Call to Duty.
Call to Duty sounds like you have to take a crap.
Is that what I called it?
Yes.
Thank you for always being there for me.
Yeah, no worries.
I'm here for you.
I mean, I tried to be there for you today with BAM even though I disagree with every single
word that's come out of your mountains one day.
No, you don't.
Yes, I do.
No, I do.
I do.
I really do.
This is Sports Radio.
No, you don't.
Yes, I do.
No, you don't.
Yes, I do.
Let's go down Stugat Street as you like to call it before we get to our game here.
So as you let's start, we played this sound yesterday.
This is the Bill's general manager.
And again, this is a street where everyone lies to each other.
This is Eric Takosta talking about how gutted he feels about having to go back on the Max
Crosby deal.
Nobody's more upset about this than me, gutted by it actually, a big regret for me, but
we will move on as a football team.
And I think there's many, many opportunities for us to grow as a team, to become a better
team, to build a roster and to be the team that we want to be.
I don't want to be accused of not being here for you, Stu.
But who's GM?
Who's GM?
That was the Ravens GM.
Okay.
All right, just making sure.
Okay.
What did I say the first time?
That's unimportant.
He's not trying to pick.
He said the bills.
Did I get his name right, though?
I think I did, right?
Listen, he says he's gutted.
He's not gutted.
He knew exactly what he was doing.
He was on the phone, which Ray Hendrix is a agent, as Max Crosby was in the building getting
a physical.
So that is line number one.
Here is Mark D'Rosa, the manager of Team USA, explaining that he did come to me.
Trying to know the rule.
And knew that his team hadn't advanced yet.
They went in two and all.
We went in two and all.
We knew they were playing Mexico the next day.
We knew there was tiebreaker rules involved.
So I can understand the questions about lineup and pitching situations.
We were up against a lot of guardrails with regards to teams, the deployment of certain
relievers, how many pitches they can use, whether they can go back out, whether they can
clean up innings.
And you're just trying to piece it together in real time, nonsense, nonsense.
He knew there were rules is what he was saying there.
Nobody's saying that he didn't know that there were rules what we're saying is he didn't
know what those rules were because he said things out loud that proved that before the
game.
And then played the same way or managed the same way.
So yeah, I mean, why do that?
You already advanced, take the L on the chin and move on.
Just say, hey, don't have to worry about that anymore, right?
Because it's elimination time.
So just have fun with it instead of lying about it and sounding small, frankly.
It does sound small.
You have to own up to it.
I'm not certain what I do in that spot.
It is so embarrassing.
He doesn't want to give, I understand what he's trying to do.
He doesn't want to give off that he is in charge of the United States baseball team and
he doesn't know the rules.
He doesn't want to admit it.
He doesn't want to acknowledge it.
And so he's trying to come up with kind of he's trying to circumvent it a little bit
by saying, yeah, I knew exactly when was going on, but he did it.
We all know that.
This one is so much more insulting of a lie because even in this scenario, if he understood
that if he actually understood what he's saying, then the justification is I just gave
Paul Goldschmidt a charity star over Bryce Harper in a game that we needed to win.
Right.
But I knew the situation.
Don't insult our intelligence.
We already know you're the dummy.
Yes.
So is he?
Here's our third piece of audio here because I like to do things in threes.
Here is Kyler Murray, his introductory press conference with the Minnesota Vikings.
I think I got the name right.
I think I got the name of the organization, right?
This is Kyler Murray being asked.
If he plans, if he attends, if his thought is, he's going to be the starter.
Do you view this as as you're coming in as the starting quarterback, do you view this
competition?
Yeah.
No.
Like I said, I'm just grateful opportunity, grateful for the opportunity.
I look forward to coming in and competing, getting to learn the offense, getting to be
with Coach O'Connell.
Obviously, he's had a lot of success.
And again, I'm just looking forward to the opportunity coming in here and competing.
Yeah.
He's not looking forward to the opportunity to compete.
He is looking forward to starting for the Minnesota Vikings.
That's what he wanted to say, but that's good press conference from your quarterback right
there, right?
It is.
It is.
And did he actually lie because I don't remember what the question was exactly, but his answer
was, yeah, no.
So he could just give in your both.
I do that all the time.
In fact, if I was Sam could just isolate the, yeah, no, that would be, that would be fantastic.
I let me know if you can do that.
I was Sam.
I have no confidence in throwing it to you right now.
Do you view this as, as you're coming in as the starting quarterback?
Do you view this competition?
Yeah, no.
Like I said, I'm just grateful.
Just the, yeah, no, just the, yeah, no, as a competition.
Yes and no.
There's your right.
Do you think Kyler Murray views himself as a starter right now like day one?
He is the day one starter because why would you bring in Kyler Murray to do anything other
than start?
You're bringing in Kyler Murray because you're not confident in your quarterback, JJ McCarthy.
But what point would we believe that Kyler Murray lost confidence in himself?
The only thing I could think of is after the knee injury, right?
Because we talked on the pod the other day and I talked to you about all of his accolades
going 42 and 0 in high school, doing everything that he did early on with the pros.
You know, obviously the year at Oklahoma playing behind the number one pick in Baker Mayfield
right before that.
We know a guy that time after time after time after time has proven to himself and others
that he is probably an elite quarterback, like has that skill set, right?
Yes, things fell off with Arizona.
Yes, his coach changed, there's approach changed, their approach to him changed rather
in terms of a little bit more short passes and stuff like that and not trusting him as
much.
But he wouldn't have lost his confidence, right?
He wouldn't continue to think he, you see, which everyone is right, which everyone
you choose to agree with me, I'll take.
And yeah, I think he's going to a place that has skill position talent that has a coach
with a reputation that works well with his quarterbacks and he's probably thinking to
himself, I might have the best year I've ever had.
Speaking of the, speaking of the game called a duty, still, there's people that believe
that if called duty never came out, Kyler Murray might be a Hall of Fame quarterback.
Right.
He might be, yes, yes.
But is he, we were saying earlier when we taped God bless football, that Kyler Murray
is one of those guys that you just hate as an athlete.
If you work really, really hard at your craft and Kyler Murray comes strolling off 18 hours
on the couch playing call for duty, okay?
That's a different game, but he could be on his couch for 18 hours and you are out there
grinding and working and grinding and working and in strolls Kyler Murray right off the couch
after playing 18 hours of video games and he's the best athlete on any field he walks
on.
That's why people are frustrated with Kyler Murray because if he actually paid attention
to care about his craft, he could be the best quarterback of all time.
Yeah, and I kind of live this example because I dropped the Yano at the same time.
I see you.
I always say him.
I kind of live this example because my partner's five, five and about 40 pounds overweight
and still the best athlete when we go out and play football.
Really?
It takes me off.
Yes.
I played golf with a watch.
He drove me crazy.
He was hit in 330 yards.
I mean, he drove.
He was like Scotty Sheffler out there.
Not consistently, but he couldn't do that.
Who is the coach, by the way?
Is there a coach for you that gets assigned like all the great stuff winner, champion, leader
of men and it drives you crazy because for me, it was always Phil Jackson.
The most overrated coach in the history of sports, Phil Jackson.
Eventually someone was going to win with Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippet and eventually
someone was going to win with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.
And yet we sit here and act like Phil Jackson is the greatest coach in the history of sports.
And I am telling you right now, the guy who was in close second for me is now Kevin O'Connell.
Big Kevin O'Connell.
What has he ever done?
Seriously.
As Taylor pointed out and God bless football, the next playoff game that Kevin O'Connell wins
is the first playoff game that Kevin O'Connell is going to win as the Vikings had coach.
He has not developed a quarterback.
In fact, what he has done is he just so unclear because he gets assigned quarterback Whisperer
guy.
Okay.
And I hate that.
He is the expert on quarterbacks.
Well, he had Sam Darnold.
Sam Darnold had to start because JJ McCarthy went down.
Sam Darnold, 14 and three, got to the playoffs and they lost in the playoffs.
Why?
Because that guy is their coach.
Okay.
So Sam Darnold, he has a decision to make.
Do I keep Sam?
Do I go forward with JJ and he says, you know what?
I'm going to let Sam walk out the door.
Sam goes wins a Super Bowl with a Seattle Seahawks.
So he couldn't win a Super Bowl with Sam Darnold, even though he had Justin Jefferson,
even though he had Flores, considered to be one of the best defensive coordinators in
the NFL.
So he couldn't get it done with Sam.
And what he also couldn't do is develop the quarterback that he drafted in JJ McCarthy.
And yet we sit here and assign all these attributes, positive ones to Kevin O'Connell
when he has done absolutely nothing as the head coach of the Vikings.
It's such a great point because we've assigned so many quarterback whisper labels to guys,
right?
And I start to lose track.
I was like, who is responsible for what?
How are there this many quarterback whispers?
And so try to go back and figure out exactly who it was that Kevin O'Connell is getting
credit for.
And it's Matthew Stafford when he was a coordinator.
I'm sorry.
I'm pretty sure Matthew Stafford did not need to be whispered to.
I mean, I'm pretty sure he was throwing for 5,000 yards in Detroit.
And then it was Kirk Cousins.
Did he really figure out anything with Kirk Cousins or his Kirk Cousins just played
slightly better under him?
I don't see the quarterback whisperer really in his resume.
So Stu, you asked the question, what coaches are overrated?
I have a nominee.
Doc Rivers parlayed one Celtic title with that big three into like eight more coaching
jobs.
Yes.
And 19 broadcasting jobs.
Yes.
And he was gifted the most well fitting big three in the history of big threes.
And that team was an absolute monster also almost lost in the first round.
You notice what he did there Taylor well fitted perfectly fit because suppose wasn't.
And so he was trying to make the point, well, he wasn't and that's the point you were
trying to make.
Was it is that fair?
No.
It was just a jab at Doc Rivers because there have been some other big threes that aren't
exactly ideal and you know, whether they worked out or not, you know, but there those
in particular were just like a perfect fit.
We also talk about that Celtics big three like they were some like massive dynasty.
They won one title that's because I will say probably because of KG injury like right
after that first one, there was a couple years there where you saw them in the playoffs
and you're like, man, if this team was healthy, they'd probably run it, you know, win it
again.
But yeah, it was, it was unfortunate.
I think Doc probably coached his best, right?
Then it's not like he's a bad coach or anything, but he definitely overrated.
That's a great call.
But there's a number of coaches who could have won with that big three.
I mean, a number probably would have won more, right?
Yeah, again, if KG was healthy, I think even Doc would have won more.
But yeah, I think that's, that's probably a coach's dream and that situation to go KG
who wants, he's crazy about defense and your best player.
Yeah, it's a good ad.
No, no, he's, he's going to get upset at me asking this question.
Whose big three was more disappointing?
The Celtics or the Heats?
You always anticipate me getting upset when I'm not really going to get upset because
I could argue.
Yeah, go ahead and argue because I would at the Miami's big three was a slight disappointment
because you say at least three out of four they should have had if not four in a row.
But you got to go with, with the Celtics one, but again, you got to throw some context
in there.
They weren't fully healthy.
But I would say, yeah, for all the credit that team gets just the one title probably
leaves you wanting more.
I would, I would say it's the Heats, I know they want to, they want to four NBA finals.
But before you even bounce a basketball, you get on stage and you announce to the world
that you're going to win five, six, seven, eight.
That big three is he, when you have LeBron and Wade, two of the top ten basketball players
of all time and you get two in four years, it should have been better than that.
It should have been four consecutive NBA titles.
You know that.
You know it should have been four straight.
To me, I think it should have been three and that last one those spurs were not going
to be denied.
I don't care if you put Michael Jordan, Wilk Chamberlain and LeBron James on that team.
Those spurs were not going to be denied.
But I think that first one against Dallas definitely a disappointment.
Taylor has a nominee here.
Go ahead, Taylor.
I don't have a nominee.
I just said, let's go to break.
I'm sorry.
He isn't going ahead.
We're on remote.

Jury Duty Presents Company Retreat is now streaming on Prime Video.
Don't miss the feel-good comedy everyone's going to be talking about.
Christopher Maddog, Russo.
We're going to join us in about 15 minutes, looking forward to that.
We have the Bleach Report's top 100 NBA players of all time coming up in the final segment,
but it is time for, is it just me or I am very excited for this.
Is he?
Would you like to get us started today?
I'll go to Taylor last.
I was Sam.
I hope you have one, Executive Producer Jason.
I hope you have one, Update Anchor Dan.
I hope you have one.
Mikey A is off today.
So is he go ahead and get us started?
You're going to start with me and I just switched mine up, and now I'm scared to death
by it because during the break, you guys gave me all these warning signs and said, don't
you care, say anything bad about Scotty Shephler.
His hive will attack, and I'm like, what?
Scotty Shephler has like a bay hive out there, and so I did like a little Google search
about his fan base, and I see a story from just last year that says headline, why don't
golf fans love Scotty Shephler?
So I feel like you guys are giving bad information, so I'm going to say this confidently.
You ready?
Wow.
Dangerous.
Yep.
Is it just me or is Scotty Shephler lost it?
Oh.
Wow.
Here's the thing.
I'm making a little over the top on that, but it's not just that he's, you know, finished
I think 4th, 3rd, 12th and 24th, and his last four tournaments, and in this tournament
one over, so he's 11 shots back, I don't know what the cut line is, but it's probably
not looking great for him.
And so the thing about these golfers that are just great, that just on the top for a
while, like Jordan Speed, their member, even a Dustin Johnson adjacent day, they just
kind of, they just kind of fall off.
And to me, even the three guys that I mentioned, probably still in their prime when it happened
a little bit.
So I'm like, is this the first sign of Scotty Shephler's, you know, his dips might last
a little longer, and you're not going to see the guy who was on top of the world the
last couple of years.
It's just me or it's not a declarative sentence.
No, I understand that if we don't see you on Monday, now we know what.
I mean, because Scotty's fan base, man, they will come after you, man.
Damn buyer.
Does Scotty Shephler have this level of fan base?
Should I be scared?
Not maybe not the level that you thought.
However, I do think that your take is interesting because last night, live from the players'
championships, spent about 15 minutes breaking down on Scotty Shephler is not in the positions
that he needs to be on his swing when he was winning multiple majors in a year when he
was winning two masters in a span of three years.
So is he?
Well, I wouldn't put him in the Jason Day category because Scotty Shephler has put himself
up in a, in a different category than a lot of other contemporaries.
He is not on top of his game right now and is hovering around the cut line right now
at TPC Sawgrass.
Stu, you know this as well as anybody.
Once you start counting out Scotty Shephler, that's when he strikes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And if that happened, then you haven't lost it.
Yeah.
When you count him out, he counts himself in.
The better comparison would be Jordan's speed.
That would be who won a bunch of majors early in his career and then fell off.
Because the other guys were just, they were one-time winners and they kind of just fell
off after that.
Now Jason Day is slowly coming back, Dustin Johnson won his and then went to live and he's
never coming back.
Yeah.
Got it.
Let's go to our Bordeaux Procarno.
Bordeaux Procarno, go ahead.
Is it just me or after the America's number one sport went off a couple of weeks ago?
Does anyone notice that there's still hockey being played?
Yeah.
As a Florida Panthers fan, whose team is just barely out of the cellar in their conference.
Yeah.
No, I haven't been paying that close attention.
There's three times in my lifetime.
There was a supposed resurgence of hockey.
Hockey is going to boom in the United States.
It was 1980.
It was after TJ O'She's goals in that shootout and it was recently with the United States
beat Canada in the Olympics and it hasn't worked and nothing will work.
In the USA beat Canada, the hockey season could have just ended right there.
Are you declaring hockey debts to guys?
Yes.
I tell it, put it on the pole when the USA beat Canada to the hockey season have ended
right there.
That's a good question.
Let's go to a board.
Let's go to Iowa Sam.
I almost called the port up.
I was saying.
That's fine.
You're calling them bam.
Yes.
We're being a card of a board.
Both Bordeaux.
I know Iowa Sam.
Is it just me?
Oh, I like it.
Is it just me?
Are there too many damn rounds in the Big Ten Ben's conference basketball tournament?
Stu Gotts, you've been there in Chicago, observing it, reporting on it firsthand.
I don't think we need Maryland, Oregon, Penn State and Northwestern to start this.
They're including all 18 teams.
There's three rounds where you can get to the quarterfinals.
Like last year, Iowa and Nebraska were battling to stay out of the cell or just to participate
in the conference tournament.
I don't understand why we're back to including everybody.
Everybody goes on way too long.
Even if you were in the first round, there's no way you're going to win six games to win
the conference tournament.
So get rid of that.
Go back to the top 14 teams, whatever it is.
There's too many damn rounds.
The rent is too damn high.
Yeah.
There's too many words.
Yeah.
Too many words.
So ready.
Is it just me?
Good.
Good.
Now, Iowa Sam, I would tell you if you were here and you could feel the pulse and you could
feel how excited everyone in for the Big Ten tournament, you would wish that it would
never rest.
Four rounds.
I heard that there was like 500 people at Penn State Northwestern, okay, and the Northwesterns
in the backyard of the Big Ten tournament, there's nobody there.
A lot of conferences have third rounds, they just call them semifinals, and that's the
problem.
There's six rounds in this piece.
There's the third round, and now we're in the quarters.
Yeah.
I will, but I'm just took 50 shot attempts, right?
Volume shooter.
I will say.
Good for the game, though.
Good for the game.
We're still talking about it.
Is he?
We're still talking about this goddamn thing.
Let's go to update anchor Dan, update anchor Dan, go ahead.
Is it me or did we miss the greatest audio that we have gotten in recent memory because
of what happened with Bam Annabaya, what happened with NFL free agency, what happened with the
World Baseball Classic?
Because Kansas State was ousted in the first round of the Big 12 men's basketball tournament
earlier this week.
When interim head coach Matthew Driscoll was asked in the post game, a sort of a softball
question, what have you taken from these last couple of weeks being the interim head coach
in place of the dismissed Jerome Tang?
This is how Matthew Driscoll responded.
Absolutely miserable.
I can't use another word than absolutely miserable.
Every day, ulcers not sleeping, not feeling good.
I have an issue.
I have a problem.
It goes on for 90 seconds and he gets more in depth, but just the absolutely miserable
as I think something that all of us can.
Well, the people say that money doesn't solve all your issues.
Apparently, if all these coaches are feeling absolutely miserable, I think they're taking
that.
They're taking the money and saying, I'll deal with the misery.
Absolutely miserable.
I have a problem, he said.
My also, right, but if you want to be the permanent head coach, this is not the way to
solve yourself.
I mean, put the money for I guess.
Oh my God.
All right.
Let's go to executive producer.
That was well done.
Dan, executive producer Jason.
Go ahead.
EP Jason.
Guys, is it just me or does ESPN breaking news app have to stop sending me notifications
of WMBA collective bargaining updates?
Once it's done, let me know.
Once it's not done and we're missing games and I miss my Caitlyn Clark, let me know.
I don't need to know midstream updates on the WMBA because ESPN is in bed with the
WMBA.
I get updates on news I don't need and I'm about to unsubscribe.
They're probably in the house eating pancakes, sending out updates.
I don't think you're going to unsubscribe about that French toast.
By the way, Holly wrote, didn't she put out some tweet and then she deleted it because
she concluded all these details of what the new agreement might be and they might be

Is it just me or is Iowa BAM being up like he is being up, he is being up, he is being
being me up Scotty.
I'm going to give him a coffee seat though.
I'm drinking water.
It's a Friday.
You know, you listen.
You know why I was saying I'm on a Friday.
I've never met Iowa BAM.
It's this guy.
It's a little frisky.
It's a little frisky, a different person.
Yes, yes, Taylor.
My turn?
Yes.
No, okay, skip me.
Go ahead, yes, go ahead.
Go, Taylor.
All right, forgot you had one.
No, it doesn't matter.
I don't have one.
Go ahead.
I want you to go.
Is it just me or the Jets best quarterback since Geno Smith might actually be Geno Smith
again?
That can't be.
Come on.
Talk about this in the top of the show.
show where we'd have a power ranking of quarterbacks since Gino Smith. I was like, yes, can
you say power because it's just you're just ranking them. There's no power. I mean any
of our lives are just bad. Yes, I would say Mark Sanchez is the greatest jet quarterback
we've had since Gino Smith was last the jet's quarterback. No, you got the order wrong.
Yeah, I was going to say for instance before Gino Smith. Lucky for you, Stu, I do have the power
rank. Wow. No, wait, I wait. Gino Smith was there. His first time as a New York jet before
said it wasn't he? Am I going to get that wrong? You're drunk off jets failure. No, I'm drunk.
I remember you're wrong. I am drunk off of Big Ten basketball. Okay. I mean, that's what yes.
That's what I've been consuming here in Chicago. All right. Go ahead, Taylor. Give us the power
rankings of jet quarterbacks since the last time Gino Smith was the New York jets quarterback.
So I consulted here with my roommate Ian. He never played football. He works in finance or
marketing or something, but I trust his jets opinions more than anybody. Really? So this is going
from best to worst. And Mikey A is going to be outraged. Go ahead. Yeah. I wish I can tell
to Mikey A too. Twenty one names on this list. Wow. What? That's unbelievable. Number one, Aaron
Rogers pre Achilles injury when he brought out the American plan. Yeah. That was the first couple
minutes as good as it gets. Listen, that was better than name it. Winning a Super Bowl. Go ahead.
Number two, Ryan Fitzpatrick. This is from best to worst. Best to worst. Okay. Weird. Yeah.
Number three, Aaron Rogers posed Achilles injury. What a can't be. That's just a can't be.
That can't be. You hear the rest of the names. You can't be the third. I can't.
All right. Good. Number four, current day Gino Smith.
All right. Number five. Sam Darnold. How is Joe Fleck? Oh, not on this list.
He's coming. Okay. I thought it was top five. My bet. Number six.
Josh. Yeah. We got 21. Oh, my bad. Josh. The count is number six. All right. You have,
you have like 15 to go. And we have about a minute and a half. Go ahead. All right. I'll rapid
fire a couple of these. Seven eight and nine. Gino Smith 1.0. Mike White. Mike Vick.
Mike Vick. Wow. Oh, Mike Vick. I forgot about him. That was exciting for a moment. Yes.
I'm not waiting for the Mike White. Yes. Mike White. Yes. Yes.
10 at a moment. 10 through 15. 10 through 15 here. Joe Flacco. Tyrod Taylor. Josh Johnson.
Zach Wilson. Trevor Simeon. Oh, Jesus. Oh, God. Fuck you.
Every Simeon. Careful. Hey, I said fuck.
16 through 18. Bryce Petty. Justin Fields. Brady Cook.
Justin Fields. That's terrible for them. Yes. Justin Fields came behind you.
What was the name right before Justin Fields? Bryce Petty. Baylor quarterback.
That's terrible. All right. Hurry up. NASCAR driver. We have three names left.
Number 19. Matt Sims. I forgot that family, right? No, it's his brother. Oh, what? Yes. Yes.
Yes. Number 20. Chris Trevler. Oh, you're just saying names. You're just making stuff up.
And the last quarterback. Number 21. He threw that
pick six on a Hail Mary attempt against the dolphins. Tim Boyle. Oh, my God. Boyle.

This is an exciting Friday here. I'm in Chicago covering the Big 10 tournament
for Fox Sports Radio, Premier Networks and I Heart.
Why you laughing, is he? I thought you had all the details ready.
Christopher Mad Dog Russo was going to join us at around 420. We're very excited for that. We
love having Doggy on the show. I have some sound to play for Israel Gutierrez. But I am met today
by Israel Gutierrez who was still talking about Bam at a buyup. Bam spoke for himself. He did
so on the Dan Patrick show. I will play that sound for you in just a second, is he? But you
were really focused on the Eric Spulstra angle of this story. And I find that to be equally
as interesting. I do. I think Spau is a guy who hasn't been very vocal and has kind of found
his voice here in the last five days. It's been interesting to see. Well, I mean, I would say
he found his voice a long time ago. And this was just the first time you've heard it in any sort
of significance because he hasn't been super relevant since making the finals a couple years ago.
So I would say that hearing that voice, that defiant voice, that is Spau. And that's what he's
grown into. And that's the type of messenger that people should respect to time champion. Obviously,
four times or one, two, three, four, five, six times finals appearances as a coach. And what he said
about Bam, I hope we have that ready, but what he said about Bam to me just shows how prepared he
is for these moments regardless of what the subject is basketball wise. I apologize to absolutely
no one. And you know, going into the game, you know, it's a Tuesday night game against a team
where they're not playing for anything where their organization is trying to lose. We've already
lost a game, you know, in that kind of situation. We have players that are sitting out and I spoke
to Bam about I want as our best player on Team Captain for him to be locked in and ready.
And he sure was. So there's a couple of things I take out of that is one. And it's a little bit of
an extension of what I was saying the other day is when if you were in that building or just watching
while it was all happening, just how engaged everybody was, every fan was from the the challenge
late in the game. That was unnecessary to the free throws and everybody was locked in. It was fun.
It was the engagement that you want from your fans. And this is what the Miami Heat tried to do
all the time. They don't as Eric Spolster pointed out about the other team try to lose. And so we're
here for you guys. And we know that if I would have taken them, I mean, Spolster, taking them out at 79,
80, 81, even that the fans would have been disappointed. The fans would have been, oh, come on, let them do it.
So if the fans wanted it and certainly BAM wanted it, it was an obvious choice. The other thing I
take out of that BAM stew is, if you remember the other day on the pod, I was talking about how
the exit of Jimmy Butler and Udonis has them, Spol doesn't have his crazy anymore. He doesn't have
that that feeling of just like I could say anything and it's going to make them go three levels higher
because they believe in it like that. Like you almost have to talk like this when you're when you're
getting that message across, they don't have it anymore. They didn't have it anymore. They have it
now. And that person that that that the negative feelings from across the country, whether it be the media
and Tim McMan's or whether it be the Kobe fans, they they have stirred something up in him and those
players in that locker room that gives them something to fight against. And that is something they
haven't had since Jimmy drove them to the finals or led them to the finals. So it'd be interesting
to see how that translates going forward. Taylor did Israel forget my name. What happened there?
Yeah, I think he called you BAM. He did call me BAM. I think he called me BAM. I mean, I almost
called you BAM. Yeah, I almost called it because you're over there and I just I'm still used to you
being right across from here. I'm sorry. I forgot who yes. Go ahead, tell me stew. I'm going to make a
ruling here. Yeah. The fact that we're still talking about a regular season game 72 hours later.
Amazing. Yeah. Good for the game. This is good for the game. Thank you. Yes. Very, very, very good
for the game. Um, Kobe's record getting broken. The guy who broke the record. What was that sound?
What happened? Wait, wait, wait. Stop. Stop. Stop. Yeah. The sound was a gavel. Very well timed.
Very well dropped. I'm sorry that you couldn't hear that. It was worth the chuckle. Well, if I knew it was
coming, I would lay out for it. You know, well, this is I was Sam's always juggling back there.
It's been in place. But right. Let's do it. Do me a favor. Just so I don't pull my hair out and
people, you know, listening, don't pull the hair out. Don't call it a record because it wasn't
a record. No, it's correct. I don't want to get bogged down on this. Okay. You have your feelings
about it. You're entitled to have those feelings of course. This isn't a feeling. This is just a fact.
It's not okay. Well, facts, whatever. And there are people who feel passionately the other way.
The person I wanted to hear from all week was BAM. And BAM appeared on the Dan Patrick show.
And the reason I want to play this for you and the audience is when you hear it from BAM and you
hear how much he respects Kobe Bryant and how much he respects the game. I think it's going to
change a lot of people's opinion. So here's BAM on earlier with Dan Patrick. If it was the
other way around Kobe would have planned. I'm shooting for whatever I can. And to be in the
conversation as your idol is what to me makes it. I'm appreciative because it's my idol.
Somebody who I grew up watching the game. Like I grew up watching him. Like
understanding what he's still for. And that man was he will tell you I'm chasing Jordan.
Whatever record he's trying to get. I'm trying to break it. And obviously, you know, I got the
opportunity to do that. Like I said, if the dead could talk, I would, I firmly believe he'd be
like congratulations. I'm feeling like you did something. I thought nobody could could even reach
for the next 40, 50 years. So is it fun? Yeah, I find that to be. I find that to be very interesting
because you have your listen, you're hearing from the guy who actually did it, right? This is not
spulstra. This is not the Laker fan base. This is not Christopher Maddog Russo who's going to
join us in hour number two and probably take a sledgehammer to all your opinions about what BAM did.
This is not me. It's not Taylor. It's not Mikey A. It's not Wode. This is BAM talking about
breaking Kobe's record and how much Kobe means to him. And his first point, he is right.
If Kobe were going after this record, he would be relentless and trying to get it. And I know it's
not the record because the record belongs to wealth, even though no one saw it. So is he? You hear
that? You think what to yourself? Well, I think a couple of things and it sort of extends with Taylor's
point was earlier just about it being good for basketball is if you actually pay attention instead of
just, you know, saying, oh, Kobe doesn't have second place anymore. What am I going to do with my
life? You'll see a player who has developed who is basically an NBA rags to riches story in
terms of ability, right? And to be able to do anything in the vicinity of Kobe Bryant in terms
of offense is good for the game for that to be rewarded, but for that to be shown for that for
everybody to see, look what this person developed into. Not only just the player, it's good that
that organization, Miami, he who has that reputation can say, look, look what we do. We do good
things for the sport. We turn or keep our fans happy. Even if we're by other people standards,
irrelevant or, you know, middle of the pack, we try to keep our fans happy and look what we've
developed in this captain, Bam out of bio, who we have said firmly from day one isn't going anywhere.
He's going to be ours. Look what happened. And when you hear him with that proper perspective and
still having the proper admiration for Kobe Bryant, what are you going to do other than just hate
for no reason? You're going to hate for no reason. It doesn't matter. You can hear him from Bam
and you're still going to hate and you're still going to disagree. And that's how passionate
people were about Kobe Bryant and how passionate they are about what they did to get Bam
past Kobe Bryant. Go ahead, tell it. It feels like nobody could agree what the actual scoring
record is. Some people have will to 100, but some people are saying we didn't see that. Some people
are putting an asterisk next to Bam and giving it to Kobe still. I'm going to go on the record here.
My scoring record, Carmella Anthony scoring 62 at Madison Square Gardens due because I think if
you score at Madison Square Garden, you start with plus 40. So that record to me is really 102 points
for Carmella. I'm not certain mine is it will is read with four points. Just the fact that he came
into that game, played the game, gave him a couple of buckets, a few good minutes and got the
hell out. I mean, he was the catalyst to them winning it all. Yes. You start with the 40,
40 plus 4, 44, but doing it in that setting of a game seven out of 100. I think it's 144 points
for Melissa in that game. Is he? It is. I have a lot of money that fans get upset all the time
about stars not playing about stars playing less minutes than they used to play. And now we're
getting upset because a player had the audacity to want to stay in a game and try to break a record.
It's great. Say the person I'm most disappointed is in is Victor Wimbanyama because he has
positioned himself as the guy who gets it, right? He is basket ball. Listen to what he says. He's
got good perspective. Not on this. He didn't like this sounded a little petty when he was just like,
yeah, I saw it, but I didn't actually see it. He saw the box score because again, he was playing
that night. Yes. And yeah, he normally he'd be a guy that would give proper respect, maybe not
over the top, but give proper respect for something, especially a big guy, right? The alien that is
Victor Wimbanyama. And you see another center doing what he's doing, pulling up for threes and stuff.
Like that was that was questionable. If I if I was Victor Wimbanyama or if I was his people,
I'd say this is inconsistent with who you're presenting.
877 99 on Fox. That is 877 99 on Fox. I am told Taylor as a power ranking of Jack quarterbacks
since Geno Smith. Is that accurate? Oh my god. I cannot wait. Listen, this is what a Friday sports
radio show is all about. Christopher Mad Dog, Russo power ranking of Jack quarterbacks since Geno
Smith was last there. And is he coming up in the next segment? I am going to take you for a
stroll down my favorite Avenue. It's called Stu got to Avenue. It's a street where everyone
lives and all they do is lie to each other. That's a terrible place. Well, I don't know.
It depends on your perspective. 877 99 on Fox. That is 877 99 on Fox. So it was nice to hear
from Bam there, right? Because like I get tired. We all discuss this stuff and we don't hear
from the horse's mouth. And so that's a great job by Dan Patrick and Todd Fritz for getting
BAM on the show and a great question by Dan Patrick. And it's nice to hear BAM because I think
that will soften this a bit for Laker fans because they are the fan base that is really the most
fired up about what happened here with BAM and because they love Kobe Bryant. But I love hearing
from the guy who actually did it. And then what you hear is, oh, he respects Kobe Bryant. And
this man is a good guy who loves the game of basketball. I just find it interesting, you know.
Yeah. And it is great to hear from him. I liked what he said. I want to say it was after the
game last night when they beat Milwaukee. He was like with nine minutes left. You don't think
I'm going to go for it. If I have 70, he's like with one minute left, two minutes left, maybe.
But with nine minutes left, of course, I'm going to go for it. Now there are people who
counter that and say, you know, Kobe sat with 60 at the end of the third quarter. And yes,
that's fine. At the end of the third quarter, if you're Kobe Bryant and you know, you're going
to get another chance at that, right? Because you know, you're going to shoot that many times. However,
whenever you want, BAM was going to have one opportunity saw it right in front of him and
took it. And I have zero problem with that. I do have more problems with like the Lakers
announcers trying to be smart Alex about this. And listen to this. I don't know if you saw it
yesterday. Maybe we can get the sound at some point later today. But he came out after scoring
51 with about a minute and 40 seconds left. And rather than just say, Hey, Lucas got 50 for
the first time in the Lakers uniform. The announcer decided to say, he's not chasing any records
as if Luca could have scored 30 points in a minute 40. Like it's the most ridiculous thing
I've ever heard. It was just straight up hating from the Lakers announcers. And he actually did
stay in to score his 51 point so that he can get 50. But no, he's not chasing any record just
nonsense. Stop hating on BAM out of bio. It'd be nice if he chased an offensive player on defense.
Thank you, Stu. Say something when he's complaining to the referees. Don't say something when he's
scoring 50 and leaving the game with a minute 40. Don't have any sort of reference to BAM. And has
nothing to do with him. Thank Verizon is expensive. Think again, anyone can bring their AT&T
