The Blushing Whiskey Sour and Scream 7's Big Weekend in the Lobby Bar! 3/2/2026

Let's all go to the lobby. Let's all go to the lobby. Let's all go to the lobby and have

ourselves a drink. All right, Michaela is singing, which means we are back in the lobby

bar for the week of March the 2nd, 2026. Brian and Michaela, with you here, and we have

made it to March. So it is officially Oscar time. We are down to the wire. I think we

have a total less than two weeks to get everything watched. We haven't watched yet, but I have

faith in us. I think we can do it. And that's going to serve us well because the Oscar

for that. So Michaela, how is the Oscar watch come in with T minus what is today Monday?

So T minus like 13 days until Oscars. Well, I think I have more than 13 things to watch.

So I'm freaking out just a little bit. I mean, it's okay. It makes sense. It's supposed

to be a little bit of a I mean, it's kind of part of the fun to like get in as many things

to watch as possible. You know, I don't know. The the three hour cacao cacao who I'm going

to pronounce mispronounce it until the day I die that that's that's going to be hard.

I don't know man. I mean, we're it's for best makeup too. I mean, all right. It'll be

fine. I'm excited. I'm going to be fine. It's going to be all fine. We're all get what's

going to be great. What about you? I'm doing great. If the Oscars were not a little bit

stressful around here, I don't think we would know to do with ourselves. So I think I think

we're doing okay. I think we're doing all right. Now as far as like picking Oscar winners,

I have no idea. It's just going to be like, I'm going to throw darts at a wall and see

if anything sticks come Oscar night. But yeah, that's what we have going on here. So make

the wire as I mentioned. So we're going to need a drink probably. It's called my nerves

as we try to make our way through the 30 or so films. We have to watch in the next 13 days.

I think we can do it. But we'll do it better if we have a blushing whiskey sour. Now this

comes from Kleinworthco.com. It's also labeled as yummy house. I'm not sure which name they

would like to go by. But this cocktail recipe looks amazing because it looks pretty simple.

And it looks like something that we like, although no egg white was harmed in this. You could

probably throw one in there if you wanted to. But the blushing whiskey sour. Michaela,

we love whiskey sour here at Drink the Movies. So I've got this recipe pulled up here for you

today. And it's pretty simple one. So to make this all you're going to do is into a shaker 10.

Go ahead and throw three blackberries, two ounces of lemon simple syrup, more on that in a second.

And then one ounce of Irish whiskey. Go ahead and shake that with some ice. The ice is going to

crush up those blackberries. Give you just a little bit of blush there on your whiskey sour.

The lemon simple syrup is going to pair nicely with kind of that sweet honey nectar of the

Irish whiskey. And then you can strain it into a rocks glass with like a big ice cube or

you could do like neat into a coupé glass sip and enjoy. So A, that sounds delicious. And this

lemon simple syrup also sounds pretty delicious. And it's pretty simple to put together. It's just

one to one of your sugar and water. Go ahead and make that just like any other simple syrup.

But then you're going to add one part of lemon juice to that as well. Cool. That is

short in your fridge. And you can use it for things like this or you could add it to some club soda

or water if you wanted to just make like a simple like homemade lemonade or you could use it for

other like baked good recipes I saw on their website. So so check that out and we'll put a link

to the the recipe page for this found in the show notes. Blushing whiskey sour.

Michaela, that sounds pretty good. It does sound pretty good. It sounds like it's going to be my

favorite color, which is great. It sounds like it's it's actually going to be pretty light on the

ABV too because it's only an ounce of Irish whiskey. And even even if you're going to do something

crazy and I mean Irish whiskey I think is is pretty tame as far as the ABV anyway. Unless you

decide to use something like a bullet rye which don't do that use an Irish whiskey. You'll

you'll enjoy it more. Yeah, I could probably drink a lot of these. And that's probably

dangerous. Like Rick Dalton. You said seven. Wasn't it seven? Seven whiskey sour. What the

yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know about seven. I think that's still seven ounces of alcohol.

And that's a lot for a liver to even mine. Even mine. So yeah. But I'm looking forward to this

because I love to play with simple syrups. One of the things that I've been really getting into

is trying to infuse more. And rather than buy them, there are some beautiful simple syrups out

there. But really playing with that flavor and like that like creation is kind of fun. But also

it can add a bunch of different levels to your cocktail. And you could then it's like the same

cocktail over and over again. It's just different in terms of what simple syrup you're using. So

this is amazing. I'm super excited about it. Yeah. I'm going to use it with my blush shaker that

I got for my birthday from somebody I know named Brian. There you go. There you go. Happy

believe a birthday. Yeah, absolutely. And this is a really good method to get rid of some lemons

or you know, limes or oranges or something like that because if you're anything like me,

you look at the price of a lemon and it's like a like two dollars and the price of like a bag of

lemons. It's like two dollars and 50 cents. So I was by the bag and I used one or two and then I

have a bunch I end up throwing away. So if you do that, go ahead and juice them and you can make

up a simple syrup. It's going to you know, keep for another week or two in the fridge. And like I said,

you can use it in a bunch of things, you know, cocktails, of course, included in that. So let's talk

about the box office here. We had scream seven, which just came out this week at gross 64 million

dollars here and it's opening weekend, which was the highest opening weekend for any of the screen

films. So apparently the lucky number seven right there go weathering heights 21 pilots more than

we ever imagined. I don't know if you're a 21 pilots fan. Michaela coming in fourth and then the

Elvis Presley concerts moves up into the top five into fifth place with three and a half million

scream seven 64 million dollars. I'm hearing mixed things as far as the reviews go for that one,

but that's pretty good showing there for the old horror franchise bringing a lot of the original

players back for this one. Yeah, I mean, I'm not surprised about the mixed reviews. I am a little

surprised about the box office because I mean, I don't think I saw a screen two through six. So

and I don't know if I'm going to I'm definitely not going to have the time to do that before it

leaves the theater. I guarantee it. So I'm happy for Neve Campbell. I'm happy for Matt Lillard. I think

that's his name. He is amazing and he needs to be in more stuff and I want to see him. So

if it's him, I mean, that's that's bad. I mean, I hope I didn't spoil it. I haven't seen it,

so I do not know, but but it's cool that he's in it and everybody knows that he's in it. So it's

kind of a spoiler. If that's the if that was the thing is that he came back from wherever and

is still the guy, that's that's a terrible that's a terrible plot twist. But that I said it there

there we go. All right, there you go. If you don't have 12 hours to catch up on your screen

contents, yeah, just skip ahead. Just go straight to scream seven. I think that's good. 21 pilots.

That is a musical group. I'm familiar with a little bit. They have a couple of songs that I like

$4.3 million though. That is pretty good. More than we ever imagined as the title of the movie

and probably also the title of the people looking at that box office return here after the weekend.

Maybe there's a lot of 21 pilots fans out there, but I am loving that we're getting more of these

like music like live concert, faux documentary kind of things for these bands. I think it's a good

way to, you know, kind of, you know, get themselves out there and, you know, do instead of if you're not

able to make it to concerts or, you know, in between concerts and things like that to, you know,

to keep some interest there and obviously, you know, promote new stuff. So that's pretty cool. That's

pretty cool. And then the Elvis Presley and concert. I just really want to see that. I don't know if

we're going to have a chance to make it out there. I'm not sure how long that's going to be in

movie theaters because we're starting to get into some new releases again. We've got two coming out

this week that are pretty big and we're probably going to have to see these ones. Michaela, I think these

are both pretty high up on our two watch list, but we have very, very different tales here. So we've

got hoppers, the new Disney Pixar animated tale here. That one looks pretty good. And then we've

also got the bride, which seems very different than hoppers. They're Jesse Buckley, Christian Bale,

and the Maggie Jill and Hall version of the bride Frankenstein story. So hoppers, the bride,

which one of these do we need to go see first? Are we going to go see both of these? What do you think?

Well, I mean, we're probably going to have to see both of these hoppers. I mean, so far, we're

only in March, but so far this year's animated films have been kind of, I don't even know if we've

had any. So we're probably going to have to see this. We have goats. It's out right now. I mean,

we do have, I meant other than goats, goats going to, I mean, goats, goats going to be amazing.

Right. It's the whole time. Come on. Right. Yeah. I feel like we're definitely going to watch

the bride or bride in theaters. It looks amazing. I think that if for no reason, then I want an

up close and personal, like, understanding of this weird ink stain that the bride has on half

of her face. And I wonder why it's not going away. I don't know if that's like supposed to be like

blood. I still can't figure it out. And I'm not watching any more previous because I don't want

it to be spoiled. I think we're doing, we're helping idiots out a lot too much in the movie industry.

We should keep something like, I don't know the end of the story, like under our sleeve, just for

the actual movie. So I'm not watching anything else. But in everything I see, she's got that splotch.

And I really want to, I love the, I love the visual, but I really want to know what it is.

Absolutely. I'm definitely looking forward to it. And definitely looking forward to see Maggie

Joan Halls kind of take on this. It's like a 1930s, like, like, prohibition era kind of thing.

So I think it's going to be really interesting. Like, I don't know, is that like a mob thing

of the bride or Frankenstein? I don't know. It looks pretty fun. So last week we talked about Arco.

We had Clare on from the independent picture house. That was amazing. The independent picture house

is a place you can go see the bride if you're in or around the Charlotte area. That was awesome.

That animated film is great. Hopefully you've had a chance to watch it. If not, seek it out.

You know, especially for before Oscars and come around because that was a really great conversation

about the movie. The cocktail was great. And then learning about the IPH from Clare was awesome.

This week we're doing a bit of a crossover and talking about the greatest film of all time 1989's

The Wizard. That's going to be kind of a kind of a collab between us and drink the movies and

drink the video games. So more on that coming Thursday when that episode drops. I already

mentioned that the pick on for Oscars is live, but also live is our Oscar Best Picture nominee

Yeah, same, same because I mean, I think we're even

because I've watched some things that you haven't watched and you've watched some things that I haven't

watched. But if I'm doing my math correctly, we have each of us like 27 or something to watch.

It's a lot. That's a lot. There you go. Starting the week off with some good news. So hopefully
