U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers is expressing both frustration and concern over the recent loss of key military leadership within the U.S. Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Rogers says he's tired of the churn and wants to see some stability established within the military leadership ranks. Rogers statement comes after the Army Secretary Dan Driscoll recently resigned, and there are reports that the Deputy Defense Secretary, Steve Feinberg, is also going to be stepping down. However, Secretary of War Pete Hagueceth recently shot down those rumors saying that Deputy Defense Secretary Feinberg is not going to leave and that he's very effective in advancing the president's agenda, his leadership in the military, being described as historic. There have been about 20 generals, admirals, and defense leaders who have either left

1:03or been fired by Hagueceth since he took office in 2025. Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth is renewing a call for the widening of Interstate 65 after he experienced massive traffic delays on that road, traveling from Orange Beach to Gunter's ville where he lives. Ainsworth was driving home on the Labor Day weekend and noted on social media that the drive from those two points within the same state of Alabama should not take nine hours to complete. Ainsworth pointed out that it's the equivalent time it takes to drive from Gunter'sville to Chicago. Ainsworth says the Interstate should be widened from the Tennessee Alabama border all the way to the Gulf of America. Ainsworth says he hopes a new governor will mean a new director of transportation for Alabama is chosen and with that, a renewed push for prioritization and expansion of this particular interstate. The members of the Montgomery County Commission have discussed the possibility of halting funding for the Montgomery Whitewater Park. County Commissioner Isaiah Sankie spoke with 1890 news saying the commission has been wanting an audit on the financials of that park in order to hold the Whitewater Park

Just this past April, the executive director for the Whitewater Park was fired from his position and in June of this year, the water park had to be closed down for a month due to water filtration issues. Sankie says the commission needs to talk to the water park leadership to find out what their plan is moving forward. And he also says he doesn't have any interest in seeing the commission fund more of its operations after the county has already invested $100 million and he says are still not getting a return on their investment. He says never in the history of the county commission has so much money been invested with no return on their investment. He's even suggested that the park should be closed down and revamped. Other commissioners have indicated to 1890 news that they are of the same mind on this issue as Sankie. News with the southeastern conference were before federal judge recently regarding their lawsuit against Louisiana State University. The attorneys were filing a motion to be added to the lawsuit, which is being brought against LSU for bringing in former NFL players to play on the college football team. The SEC was asking for the judge to not interfere in any upcoming meeting to be held this

3:08Thursday by the SEC where it could consider a vote to kick LSU out of the conference. The lawsuit from the SEC was first launched in response to what they called a coordinated and deliberate campaign by LSU to recruit former professional football players for this current game season. LSU is countering that argument saying that the SEC is interfering with their first amendment rights to choose their own players. Anurus surgeon from mobile was in court this past Tuesday 59 year old Sean Clark entered a not guilty plea to the charges of possession and production of child pornography. Clark has been in the Mobile County jail since his arrest last week. His bond has been set at $450,000 dollars by the judge and it appears that Clark is not able to post that bond at this time. Should he be able to meet the bond requirement, he'll then be put on house arrest and will have to wear an ankle monitor. A preliminary hearing has been set for Clark for this coming October 13th. 4:12was being used as a floating refueling station for drug traffickers. US Southern Command says intelligence confirmed that the vessel was supporting Loche Choneros, which is an Ecuador-based criminal organization that has been designated by the US as a foreign terrorist group. The crew was removed from the vessel and turned over to Ecuadorian authorities before the US forces sank the ship. The operation was carried out by joint task force Western Hemisphere, which is a new command formed to combat these security threats across the region. Officials say this is the fifth Loche Choneros refueling vessel that has been intercepted by US forces in the eastern Pacific Ocean over the past two months. A federal appeals court has blocked the IRS from continuing a program that would share taxpayer address information with immigration and customs enforcement or ICE. The three judges on the DC Circuit panel were all appointed by President Barack Obama. They upheld a lower court injunction this past Tuesday. Under an agreement between the IRS and the Department of Homeland Security, ICE was seeking to address as many as 1.2 million people suspected of being here illegally in the country.

5:15The IRS ultimately provided more than 47,000 records on this issue. The court ruled that the process failed to meet federal taxpayer privacy requirements under section 6103 of the Internal Revenue Code. Judge Cornelia Pillard also rejected one of the Trump administration's objections to calling the government's argument weak sauce. Former President Joe Biden says the radiation treatment for his prostate cancer has worked as intended. Biden was diagnosed in May of 2025 with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones. He completed a course of radiation therapy last fall. Biden released a statement here in September, which is also prostate cancer awareness month. The 83 year old said doctors have helped control the cancer and that he remains active, including working on his memoir. Texas has approved a new public school social studies standard that will change how students learn about Islam and the September 11 terrorist attacks. The standards direct students to study the rise of radical Islam, including al-Qaeda, 9-11 and ISIS.

6:16It also calls for lessons examining Muhammad's brutal military campaign against Jewish and Christian tribes, as well as the implementation of slavery and taking of female captives. These changes are drawing strong opposition from Muslim students, educators and democratic members of the state board of education in Texas who argued portions of the material are historically disputed and can unfairly stigmatize Muslim students. Board Chairman Aaron Kinsey defended the final framework, saying that the board worked through the issues democratically and called the results balanced. The new standards are scheduled to take effect in Texas classrooms beginning in the year 2030. Well, you may no longer need a plane ticket in order to walk someone all the way to the gate in an airport. The Transportation Security Administration has launched a new program called Gate Side by TSA Precheck. It allows eligible TSA Precheck members without a boarding pass to enter secure areas at participating airports. Visitors can then go meet arriving passengers at the gate, as well as see off friends or family going on a trip. They can also meet someone during a layover or even visit airport restaurants and shops

7:18that are beyond that TSA checkpoint. TSA is currently available at 13 airports, including Los Angeles, Dallas Fort Worth, Las Vegas, Detroit and Salt Lake City. Visitors must have TSA Precheck and apply for a free gate side pass one to three days before their visit. TSA says it's evaluating the program for possible expansion to more airports.
