The Difference in Friends and Acquaintances | ReWire 1913
About this episode
The other day I saw a meme that unlocked my closed mind.
It was about people who are on the spectrum being over protective and with a good sense of right and wrong.
I've been told in the past I am a bit on the spectrum and that made sense to me.
I've always tried to do the right things even if they didn't benefit me.
I have a lot of acquaintances, but few friends.
And the few friends I have, they're very close.
I can count on them 1000%.
Acquaintances sometimes show up as friends, but the difference between them and friends is they don't have the same intentions.
Every now and again, you have to reassess who is in your life.
Acquaintances aren't friends.
If you don't know the difference, friends don't come with open and empty hands.
They help you without you asking.
And they're always there for you, no matter what.
No strings.
No conditions.
If you have 2 of those in your life, consider yourself lucky and blessed.

Welcome to the rewire podcast. I'm your host Ryan Stumman and I'm here to rewire your mind for success You were put on this planet for success. You were created to succeed But the force of average is after you every single day my brothers and sisters and this podcast is the one thing This design to help you fight the force of average and excel in every area of your life. We're glad that you're here The other day I saw a meme that unlocked my clothes mine The meme said something to the tune of people that are on the spectrum and or have ADHD Have an innate sense of fairness and will over protect and over correct in order to stay on their standards and moral ground And I'm thinking about that and I'm like, you know People always joke and say that I'm somewhat on the spectrum. I'm sure I am. I've never been tested or asked Don't ask don't tell right? Definitely have ADHD was diagnosed with that was one of the first trial kids in America in the 80s to actually take Ritalin believe it or not
Well, that worked out so well But anyway, I say that because I'm the type of person that if I'm for you, I'm a hundred percent for you Meaning your enemies are my enemies If you're my fucking dog and you don't like somebody. I don't like that motherfucker either But it's rare that you can find that from somebody It's rare that you can find somebody that's like hey man I don't know about everybody else, but I know about you and I'm down for you What happens is most people try to be people pleasers They try to be friends with everybody and they say oh, I don't want to make enemies blah blah blah But you never really create any real loyalty and look I'll be honest I don't have a whole lot of friends. I got a lot of people I know a lot of clients a lot of affiliates a lot of acquaintances, but I don't have but a couple of friends But the friends that I do have they're real and I know that no matter what situation they're in I'm down for them and whatever situation I'm in they're down for me But most people go through life trying to make friends with everybody and that's a lost cause because not everybody's friend worthy You can put a lot of people in the acquaintance category and few people in the friends category and still be successful and have a big network
You can also have common enemies And the truth is the friend of my enemies my enemy too But very few people are yoke that way Most people are people pleasers. They just try and make everybody happy So we get along with everybody. I don't feel like I'm here to get along with everybody I don't feel like I was put here to be a people pleaser I like people But I like telling them the truth and I like telling them how it is and a lot of people don't like that Which creates enemies because listen, let me tell you something that you will remember the rest of your life Nobody and I mean nobody is a bigger victim than somebody who did you wrong and don't want the rest of the world to know what they did And a real ass motherfucker will know if somebody did you wrong and believe you because they're your friend And acquaintance will keep the peace with everybody just remember that
