1:00It's Richard McCormick here alongside Keith Tracy. We have seen Brighton and Hull Albion absolutely hammer Coventry City away from home by five goals to NIL. It was the pick of the bunch from Lewis Donk, seven minutes from time that I think brought the biggest cheers from the Brighton faithful. Coventry having Tyo Awanee sent off eight minutes into the second half for what looked like a pretty harsh red card. I think so. Again, a little a little a little asterisk next to what I can understand, what it's given, but I think Awanee is getting a little bit of a physical altercation. I think he's just looking for the shoulder bump and just a little bit of the forearm comes up, makes contact with the face. I don't think he tries to troll the elbow or even tries to make contact with the elbow. Maybe a little bit harsh, but I also think Frank Lampard goes to the referee. He will be having a look at the replay and say, does contact what do you want from me? So are you understand it, but I also think yeah, it's on it is harsh, but a Frank Lampard wants to get down the narrative of that's why we've lost a game.

2:02I'd have to say he was wrong. That's not what he've lost. Yeah, it'd be a difficult point to make. There were two NIL down by that point. Boat goals really well taken. Coventry had force bar for broken into a couple of reading smart saves in the first half. Jack Rodani and Frank Añaca with those chances for a Coventry bought. I think in pretty much every area of the pitch they did look second best. Second best everywhere, Richie, yeah, you think you're spot on and defensively you look at the tree center halves. I know they play a back for it, but the tree center halves where you're looking for the solidity, all three are made individual mistakes for the goals today. And I said in the commentary, they're quite slow to go and engage with the ball at the edge of their own 18 year box. You'll give them Premier League players free shots from the edge of the 18 year box. They're going to be able to hort you. A yard he's finished was lovely, but when you're not on that pressure again from 18, 22 yards, he'd expect bringing players to hit the back of the net and brightened it. That didn't even Lewis done. Lewis done for half a second for God. He was Lewis done. Can put him right in the top corner.

3:03Great goal. Probably goal of the season contender, but you can look at the Lewis done goal and say, OK, sometimes goals are undefined. Below you, I take that they could have come out and engaged a bit more, but where he puts it is, you know, absolutely wore a class, but the basics of defending, letting the ball bounce their penalty, they give away, check your shoulder before you're going to commit to something like that. And even Ethan Pinnick when the ball is up around Castula's head, does no need, does no need to go and engage and rush out because he can't score from that situation where the ball is. Just keep yourself down the line of any shot you might want to take. He goes and sells himself to a lovely header and a lovely finish, but totally avoidable. And I think the undalien message from Frank Lamper would be too easy for going today. There's a bit of a caveat for this because yes, it is a newly promoted carpentry city and I was a carpentry city that didn't perform well. I had a man sent off, but that was a very encouraging performance from Brighton to have weathered the storm that they did when they scored that first goal, nine minutes before the end of the first half. They have been under the caution a little bit. Gold did come against the runner play every so slowly, even though they may have taken

4:06the first half on points. But to have taken their chances, they create so many chances. And we've gone through the list of players that they're missing. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Evan Ferguson has almost become a distant figure now at this stage. That's an incredibly decent performance from Brighton to that. Yeah, really, really good. And again, it wasn't just a, you know, torn open. This is all easy. Because moments in the game where Coventry were on top, Vibrugan at half time or reference from probably me, man of the match at half time, given the amount of important saves he made. But you always felt that Coventry are on top at the minute, they're having the better chances, they're going to have to score. And when they didn't score, you thought, okay, well, at least get the half time at Nillal, didn't quite do that either. So just little moments in the game where you think Coventry have got to be better. But again, Brighton are a very stable Premier League club. We know, or he said in the build of to the game that Coventry will look at this as a home game against a non-Dashren, Brighton team and think, this is probably a winnable game. They've got their wrist slapped, you know, well and truly slapped today.

5:09But they've got a bounce back, losing to Iarston, losing to Manchester City, losing to Brighton today. They're not going to relegate you. Just bigger and better games to come, more important games to come from a Coventry point to view. I'm sure Frank Lampad will reference to crowd did stick with them. I mean, now there was a couple of bombs leaving seats towards the end. But generally, the Coventry fans were still under our feet. They were clapping. They were trying to get behind their team. I think they realized it's going to be a really difficult season for them, especially given how holding in the switch team to have started. But they need to improve. They need to improve drastically defensively. And of the top end of the park, if you're going to be as blunt as they are, you know, you really are putting your emphasis on defending then. And either side, the blanket is just not big enough for me, Richita. The head is going to be poking out or the feet are poking out. I know it takes a while for certain new signings to bed in. They have spent a fair bit of money coming to you. We can't forget that 138 million in the close season in the end going in, in outgoing cash that is. A lot of that started on the bench today. Has Lampad been too loyal to the players who got them up?

6:11Do you think? I think so. On that evidence, yeah. But I think at the start, it's very difficult. When you're a manager and you're trying to, you know, players get some amount of credit in the bank and let's, let's not forget the way they were outstanding in the championship last season. The counter that that would be, look at a Saunderdlands who came up last season through a lot of money at that squad and then trusted those new signings from the jump and the others that got them up for the playoffs that were cast aside fairly ruthlessly. Yeah. And you need to kind of have that about you as a manager in the Premier League. You know, only Lampad would be able to say you've got to go what you're seeing on the training ground in the, in the preseason, build up to the Premier League. So it would be very surprised if you've just gone, well, I'm going to regard the build up to the season. I'm going to regard the preseason games and whoever finished the season last season, well, it's just going to inherit a place. Football doesn't work like that. You're only as good as your last game. And I'm sure Frank now will be thinking, Deluxey, Yarenki, you know, I wanted to assanth him when he come off the bench looks a little bit sharper than what he had up there. Gold is going to be a big issue. I've spoke about Iwanee. I'm a big fan of his.

7:12I love them at forest. But he's more of a target man. He's more of a striker. That brings other people into play. He might get 46, seven goals this season. But then you're looking at the wingers in the center midfielders to get the double figures. You know, if you're going to be a low scarring team, you want to be very, very good defensively and Coventry aren't very good defensively. They didn't really have that great support from Mason Clark. He's the kind of player that would be coming in and feeding off those scraps. Well, I do think Lampertry to address that in the second half. Mason Clark got close to Iwanee in the second half. Then the record comes. The red card came and then Brunton were just brilliant. They enticed Coventry out to try and get after them. But the press is not brilliant. The elbow possession, Brunton aren't the best team in the league. And they need to be because in possession, Richie, we all know there's a whole host of teams in the Premier League that are better than Coventry on the ball. So that means elbow possession. You need to be wore class and are not quite there just yet. So a lot of improvements to be done. But look, after four games, nobody's relegated just yet. So although it's all down in the domestaping battered five kneel today,

8:14just bigger and better games to come from a Coventry point of view. What's Brighton sailing finally this season? I think Europe. I think Europe, not necessarily champions league, but some sort of European finish next season. You were saying they've got somebody in the cup. Is it much as you know, it is in the cups. So look, if they can go and beat you know, it is Jordan, the week in the cup, you know, try a couple of digs domestically. A European finish. I think that's got to be, you know, more than what the brilliant fans couldn't expect. We said it in Coventry, the amount of players that you sell believe it is just the latest one off the off the conveyor belt. Tiny well back van Hecke, you know, the amount of managers, players that just move on and they go and get players that you've never really heard of, but they turn into super stars. So yeah, it's outstanding. So from Brighton. So European finish this season, I think would be more unacceptable. All right. Keith Tracy. Thanks so much for this afternoon. Cheers rich.
