Where in the hell are we? Yes, I think that's about right.
What the fuck is happening? Where are we? I wish I knew. It's disagree with your boss, man, but I'm glad I don't. Still looks like echo fjord. One night. Yeah, like it's sitting at the bottom of some frozen hell. I can see that sunken city from here. I guess as the world sunk lower, it rose up higher. Yeah, it must have come up right next to the valiant. For all the changes, it looks like we're still in echo fjord. So I figure we just do what we came here to do and then get back. Because I'm sure of at least one thing. We're likely still in deep
shite. So we need that bypass valve more than ever. Can you hear me? The walk is still works. That sure shit a nice change. Yum, I'm here. Wherever here is. Another miracle if there ever was one. Have assuming you're staying with me. What the hell is this place? Do the scientists have any idea? That's my next call. What does it seem to be when people are okay first? It's nice to be prioritized. How do things look from what you are? And like hell, the sky looks like one endless sheet of ice. And there's all sorts of weird shit frozen
inside it. Can't quite make it out what any of it is though. And there's what looks like a gigantic forest of black trees or fungus. I'm not sure. It's spread out just behind the outpost and stretches all the way back as far as I can see. I'm thinking it's the same stuff we saw growing out of that gorge. Just a hell of a lot more of it. And there's all kinds of weird sounds coming from every which way. What about you? We can see the tower of the sunken city from here and it looks like your part right next to it. Beyond the forest. I'm not seeing any movement but that could change quickly. But that would just happen to your mission's the same. Grow a bloodbath, get back as fast as you are able. Kind of figured that may be the case. I'll keep you updated for
as long as communications hold over an hour. What the fuck are we gotten ourselves into? Well, I'll open the door to the outpost if you three want to back me up. Sure. We'll do. Just be ready for anything. Crazed only knows what could be in here. Good point. So how about you open it then? There's what's out there. Make any sense to any of you? This place doesn't even feel like it's part of the world anymore. Just all those strange, clenched emotions of ice stretching out forever. I've never seen anything like it. Hell, I've never even heard of anything like it.
Ice, I know. I've seen every kind of blood he is in places where people won't even last five minutes. But a frozen sky? That's near. And I sure a shit can't explain those dark shapes trapped inside it. Some of them look like creatures. Massive ones. We know, or at least strongly suspect, that Barrett's machine bends realities together. And since the Leviathan creature has yet to rise, we can assume he hasn't overlapped our world with the realm of the Oblins sufficiently to permit its passage. But he is dangerously close. Close enough that the boundary between the two realms has thinned, bringing them near enough for each to become visible to the other.
If that's true, and we can't waste any time, we have got to launch the turns. In that environment this change, the significant portion of the sunken tower now lies above water. We need to reassess our approach to the target. This is obviously one of the reasons Barrett accelerated his plans. He knows what we're doing. And he's counting on this to slow us down. If not, stop us all together. Then we need to act as fast as possible. We intended to check the drones to see their symbols have been changed. There are ones now burned into the deck. I might indicate whether the angel deems the efforts worthwhile. Larry, both? Either review there? We're both in the machine room, Captain. What can we do for you? I need someone to check the painted symbols inside the drones. Not enough, they look a little different. Radio me the second you know.
You got it, Captain. Captain, we're getting bombarded by signals. Communications. Even with happened last time, I'm not sure we should listen to any of it. Barrett likely didn't need to broadcast his voice to cause what happened. He probably just wanted to frighten us. I mean, if he's stupid enough to broadcast his plans, we should likely hear whatever he has to say. Okay. What did Don Speaker? What is going on? What is going on? Well, it doesn't seem to be Barrett at least. Can we plug Iris into the audio? I don't want to risk another Hank incident by giving her an greater access than necessary. But I want to see if she can make any sense of those sounds. Yeah, just bring the laptop over here and I'll patch her into the sensor and camera feeds.
Iris, I'd like you to analyze the audio I'm giving you access to. The recordings appear to consist of ambient signals arriving at seemingly random intervals. See if you can determine whether there's some kind of message hidden within them or any other usable information. For additional context, we believe Barrett has activated his machine and that we are currently inhabiting some kind of middle ground. A space suspended somewhere between Earth and the oblong. Please take that into account during your analysis. Such an vedocara. What about the energy meetings? Anything intelligible? And not really. Without some kind of baseline for this environment, there's no way to know what qualifies as high or low. By Earth standards though, the readings are all over the map. And seeing electromagnetic spikes way beyond anything we'd
consider normal, followed by drops so severe they're fairly registering at all. And that as soon as we're even measuring the right things, there could be forms of energy here that our instruments simply weren't designed to detect. If they are interacting with the sensors, they could be destroying the readings in ways we don't understand. At this point, the equipment can tell us something's happening. It just can't reliably tell us what. I have completed my analysis of the sound files you provided and have contextualized them as thoroughly as the available information permits. Based on the recurrence of several distinct phonetic and structural patterns, I'm reasonably confident that the recordings constitute a genuine language rather than a collection of arbitrary vocalizations. Unfortunately, I have not been able to translate the material with any degree of reliability sufficient to justify even a provisional interpretation. That said, the contextual information you have provided does allow for one potentially significant conclusion. If I continue to operate under the assumption that the fitica represents a factual
account of reality and it's associated for nobna, then I believe the region in which the ship is presently located may be what certain resources refer to as the last quiet. The term appears in several passages of the new monomicon, a well regarded, if anonymous, medieval treatise on magical theory and practice, with specific reference to my fitica and sources. The area is believed to be the antechamber to the Diablon, the final stretch of space before damnation. Captain, we're getting a lot more large underwater traffic beneath us, but this time they're moving past our location and converging on something behind us. Looks like they might even be surfacing. Can we get the area where they're converging on camera? I think so. Checking the off cameras now. Yeah, there we go. It just looks like a big sheet of ice with a seafroes over. What's so
special about that? The traffic should be visible in three, two, one. My god, those things, whatever they are, they're huge. They're slightly more weighing utensils. But what are they doing? And why are they doing it? Oh. Oh shit. They're breaking apart the ice. They're making a bet for the icebergs to come straight at us. They got the betacas because of the angelic symbol, so they're using the icebergs to do it for them. Oh, god. Bob, come in. Bob. Right here, Captain. What can I? Can we maneuver the sheet even just for a minute or two? Not what the engine light is. God damn it. Captain, it won't be long until all the ice is cleared.
All stations on full alert. Repeat. All stations on full alert. With Echo 4 so close to the ovelin, Barathe must have greater control over those things and what they're capable of, or he would have been able to do this a long time ago. It doesn't matter how or why anymore we need Burt to get back here with that fuck. VJ timers はい No one here. Come on! Ugh... F... Go! Oh... Are we supposed to find anyone in here?
Back, come in! Right here? We just entered Boris. First, we need that voice. May I say something? But have icebergs headed straight for us? Just fucking great. I hate to give you more bad news. But Boreus isn't Boreus anymore. We just got in here, and the place is literally a cavern of ice that goes straight into the ground. But if that part is down there, we'll find it. Great part I don't know. Vera, come in! God damn it! I knew that damn things would give out soon enough. We got no choice but to head down there. Do what needs doing. We still can. Whatever we do, we need to make it fast too.
It sounds like they don't have much time. Come on, let's get to it. There's more of those things. Whatever they are, buried in the ice. We're not here for things frozen in the ice. We're here for a bypass valve. Just stay focused and maybe we'll be in and out of here. What the hell? My walkie is shaking. I'm going to get out of here. My walkie is shaking. What the fuck is wrong with it? It's getting hot. Get rid of it.
Hi guys! That is... We can sense you nearby. Sense your sins. Get back! No town if it'll explode or what? And what wonderful sinners you are. Murderers, some of you. Others, it seems, have heard your sins whacked clean. But anything polished right is simply burgued to be solid again. How long before you slank a thirst you've denied for too long? How long before anger takes hold? Before restraint slips away and you will lash out. None of us are murderers, you sick fucks! Cool it, Dallas.
We know this routine too well by now. Just ignore the fuckers. You have the privilege of ignoring your sins for man, certainly. But when you're found judgment, don't see you will be coming in. Just as we have become ours, and you will suffer, it ways you cannot possibly imagine. You will change and change again, becoming what you have always been. Deep down. Your soul will be stretched around the sum of your wickedness,
sworn to a bleeding black tumor of every wrenchhead in Dalton's, every cruelty, every secret corruption you've ever nurtured. It will become your heart, your soul, your self. How that last spell will be nothing left of you, but the living, breathing shape of your own evil. Over there, that looks like one of the halls of the outposts. Come on, just leave the walkie. We gotta find that valve. Yet you used to the scenery. You'll be back soon enough.
It's the outposts, alright? The drill should be in the machine shot, which is right down there in all way. Come on, let's go. Hey, Bert, hold up. That black fungus shit is all over the place. Do we really want to wait through it? I don't think we have much of a choice. Not everyone will get the valve and get the fuck out. It's not as thick over here. I'm not being able to slip a valve without having to plow through it. It's gonna have to do. Lead the way. Black children swimming in the shallows, which hugs glide hungry and unseen. You wander the black garden, glide to the soil beneath your feet,
unaware of the monsters lurking just beyond your sight, marching, waiting. Look, use your son of a bitch. You're gonna get yours for what you've done. You hear me? You'll get yours! Indeed I will. Get what I have coming. Provide she doesn't get you first. The hell is he talking about? She? Is there someone else here with us? Poor, poor Eden. She wants nourished your kind, sought your every need, until she was struck down, guessed, and now she could grow only into vetted earth, beneath the hoists of the shallows of the damned.
Now she nourishes only the damned, seeing to our needs. Eden. As he's talking about the forest in the bible. Heh-heh! Heh-heh! The bible! Your book of half-remembered dreams. No. I speak of truth, as old as your oldation, as smoothness, undering it as to age, winning short leadership, narrative wanting life. found them wanting when the forest that shielded and guided your guide was judged and accomplished to their failure. It's spirit stripped of grace, parented and twisted into something black and horrid. Something that has never forgotten what was done to it.
There it is, the machine shop. Whoa, wait a minute. Look over there. Why is the modelist out of the middle of the hole? It's wrapped up in those ropey black vines. Like someone was using them to pull the thing out of the storage bay. Yeah, you could see the clear spot behind it where it's been pulled through all that black shit. But do not weep for Eden for when the soil is red enough, spoiled enough. She may yet may poise and fruit. A stinking foliar may still offer shelter to strained beasts from putridly quesence to leaf and to the sheurises to nourish the ambitions of the damned. And here, to rest in the shadow of the abalone where her roots are sucked in and grown strong,
a bounty may be plentiful indeed. Did he say what I think he said that the black liquid that turns in all that thungle shit, that the black ether is what's left of the garden of Eden? Never mind all that. Let's just find the drill and get the hell out of here. Thor's stuck. You may hang it. I got you. Push! I just hope it's still here.
There she is. Since we don't care what happens to the drill, we can use the thermal cotter. It's just a slice it out. Sounds good of me. Let's get on. Bert, what are you looking at over there? Just looking at the monolith, something big was using all those vines to pull it through the hallway. There's huge tracks in the muck over here. Jesus, I sign what made them. Not that I can see, but I have a feeling bear it wasn't fucking round when he was talking about strange beasts.
I did it! We've got it now to get the fuck! There's something out there. Yeah. Be ready for anything. Where the fuck is it? It's coming from over there. Further down the hallway. Whatever it is, it's behind us. So we can start back without having to run into it. It's coming straight from us. It's stuck. Just be...
Those things have almost smashed through the rest of the ice. It won't be long before they shove those icebergs right at us. The new one has any ideas about to stop them now is the time. If we can't maneuver that we've got to abandon ship, we've got no other choice. Abandon the ship. For where? There's nowhere else to call. We're in some fucking bizarre wasteland between worlds. It leads to somewhere other than a sinking ship. The tower isn't far from the valley. We should be able to make it there in the rafts. What do we make the drones? We can't just let that bastard win. There's no time. We can't leave here without at least trying to stop Barath. Listen, we may not save our skins, but we might just save our souls. We have to use the drones, even if we don't survive the effort. It's our only chance. It's everyone's only chance.
She's right. I'm staying. Vanessa and I will just need some help deploying those drones before everyone makes it for the lifeboats. I'm certainly not going anywhere but right here. I'm not calm this far only to abandon my calls now. Why? I can't just leave. It's not right. If we gotta go, at least we'll go together. We're staying too. I never thought I'd be peer pressured into possibly killing myself. But here I am. Okay, very well. Once the rest of the crew makes their decision, those of us who remain will face this monster together.
