The Giants Defense is IN TROUBLE Against This Cowboys Offense?! | Doin' Alright

About this episode

Episode 238: The Cowboys’ Week 1 matchup with the Giants is here, and Voch Lombardi and Bryan Broaddus break down exactly where Dallas can take advantage.

The guys dive into why CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and the Cowboys’ loaded receiver room could be a nightmare for New York’s secondary, the challenge Brian Burns and Abdul Carter present for Dallas’ offensive tackles, and why stopping the Giants’ pass rush could determine just how explosive this offense can be.
They also break down the Giants’ defensive front and linebackers, how Dallas should attack them on the ground, and why Dak Prescott’s experience gives the Cowboys a major advantage.

Plus, after watching Seattle’s defense in action, Voch and Bryan discuss what it could mean when the Cowboys eventually face the defending champs, and why it’s time to stop putting young quarterbacks ahead of proven veterans.

Can the Giants actually slow down this Cowboys offense, or is Dallas simply too loaded for New York to handle?

This episode of the Do-It-R-Right podcast is presented by our friends at PricePix. Stop annoying these young quarterbacks edition of the Do-It-R-Right podcast. We appreciate y'all for tapping in with us, man. We love y'all the pieces. Here with another giant's breakdown, we told y'all we're going to do the offense on Wednesdays and the defense on Thursdays. Now, if we have a Monday game, Saturday game, we'll adjust, right? We will do the defense after we do the opponents offense. So that's what we're going to be doing today. Giant's defense, breaking those guys down. I have a lot more to say about the Giant's defense than the giant's offense yesterday. The Giant's offense was really me trying to figure out how they're going to work around mediocre quarterback play. I do think that they got pieces on defense. It's up to the giants on how they put those guys together. We're going to talk about that in the next segment. Brian Brothers. Got our first little taste of football yesterday. Yeah. Got our first little taste of NFL football.

Nice to have it back. The Seattle Seahawks happen to be on your schedule. Yeah. Cowboys going to see them later on in the year. And look, man, we one don't mean nothing relatively. You could be a totally different team by the time you get the week 13, 14, 15, whatever the Cowboys playing. But, man, Brian, I can't lie to you, man. I can't lie. I walked in saying, all right, let me see with what the defending Super Bowl champion and the boogeyman team looks like. And I walked away going, man, I think if this was my offense, because when you think about Seahawks, their superpowers, their defense, right? You think about how you match up versus those, you know, different things. Sam Donald, I mean, you know, or Drew Lach, whoever it may be, I don't fear either one of those guys, the run games, probably going to be cool and all that. I don't care too much. It's the Seahawks defense. And Chad, y'all going to comments or in the chat, let us know. Did y'all feel the same thing? I'm sure as many y'all did did. And Brian, I walked away kind of inspired going, hey, man, if that's the Seahawks and that's how they're going to play defense this year, I feel pretty good about my offense matching

up with a top tier defense like that. And I mind you, Drake May did throw the ball to the other team a couple times, but I thought that was more on Drake May. You know, I mean, I think if it was Dack, he probably wouldn't have done some of those things. He would have checked into, you know, some different looks. He would have moved the offensive line a little better than, then, uh, May did. But Brian, the Cowboys ain't played a game, but I walked away a lot more confident watching a Seahawks play. Yeah. I think with the Seahawks, and by the way, Patriots, shame on you. Shame on you. Quarterback goes out. Fifth play of the game. And all of a sudden, now you can't take advantage of that. Please don't let the Cowboys ever get in a situation where starting quarterback, it's knocked out early in the game and you don't hammer down and you let them hang around and do those things. You know, the game, shame on you, New England, for not taking advantage of the situation, the game, the way it went. But we learned something about Seattle last night, though.

You throw the ball and Seattle at your own peril. You really do. You're going to have to deal. You're going to have to deal. If it turns into you're trying to move the ball, they've got some. Their front is good, though. Their back is good. Bayern Murphys, really good. Derek Hall is really good. I mean, they've got some guys and they've got these safeties. When they had to tackle, when they had to make plays, they were able to come up with some plays. Ball's thrown into the flat, trying to get a first down. All of a sudden, there's a tackle, one on one out there in the flat. It's just the way that the Seahawks play. It could be problematic. I really respect what you're saying about it. Maybe you were thinking like, Super Bowl, a lot of hits, a lot of socks on it.

New England actually did a pretty damn good job blocking last night. Their core bad, I mean, may, he had time. They had a good plan. Blitzes, they get the ball on the outside quick. They're able to do some things. Losing Brown didn't help them at all. They had some, they missed some opportunities in that game. But overall, I kind of felt like that was a defense with the front, but that's no Nick a man of war in that game last night. So that to me, there's a couple of factors in there. I would say, okay, it's a good defense. It's really a really good defense. And when you make them, when they make you one dimensional where it turns into you have to throw the ball, I think that's where they're absolute best. If you can find a way to block their front and make them have to deal with your running game on a consistent basis, I think you could do some things to them.

But you saw what happened with New England at the very end. It's trying to throw the ball and then you're forced to the ball and they're making plays on you. They just never really got the offense going. And then yeah, the Seahawks did do what they did. And I feel like with a better offensive performance, you probably could have done some things. Oh, better quarterback play for sure. Especially quarterback playing the second half. Definitely the second half. I think you why receivers are better. Yeah, I think your run game in general would be a little better. We got to see, but like you know, I see how the really good year last year, right? I just couldn't help but to play a game of copy and pace. Like how would the Cowboys match up against those guys? Yeah. So here we go again with the new Young High Quarterback that has a really good year somewhere. And they immediately put them over quarterbacks that's been doing this for a while. Hey, man, chill on the young cues, man. But it kind of showed it just looked like they had a bunch of film on them. It looked like we had a ton of film on Drake May. And hell, Drake May was the last dude we watched film on because they just played the

damn Super Bowl as well. And they went out there and they did the same shit. Yeah. Yeah. They did a suitable headdrag May run around looking crazy out here. Yeah, the thing, Seattle defense, we'll see how things play out throughout the year. I mean, we'll see which way New England goes and which way Seattle goes. But I just, I know this and I think this is where you're absolutely correct. Your quarterback, your quarterback last night would have found a way to make a play in that game. Make it to, I don't think he's throwing the ball into coverage. I don't think you're having the drops that they had. I think you're able to kind of maybe block their front up a little bit. But like I say, once it turned into, once it turned into, okay, Drake May is going to have to try and go make plays instead of being patient. I think this is where maybe DAC and Josh McDaniel is the game plan like the boots, the waggles, the throws that he was able to make. They had some good ideas. They just could not sustain anything along the way. And I think that really hurt them.

But I think the quarterback's youth and though his lack of patience, I think ultimately cost him in that game. Now Brian, I don't celebrate injury, but some meals around the league happen that directly affects the Cowboys, I believe. Brock Bowers for whatever reason, week one had a little neat, clean up things, it's just a way of whatever. And he has to miss a couple of games. I think we're all in a green, some pateco that if the Raiders lose quicker, the better it is for us to go ahead and get our gap. I mean, the quicker we can get the Raiders to draft season, the better for us, Brian. You ain't got to have a take on this. This is me being like Messia's hell, you know what I mean? But the Raiders already being a bad team and a bad offense, right? Now they're going to go without their best player for two weeks. And the first game is against the Dolphins. The Dolphins could go out there and beat the Raiders, Brian. And then they got to go play some tough teams later on. Brian, does this bring us closer?

Or if you were front office man, right? Back in your day, you were front office man, you looking at a situation like this, some other team, and they're missing one of their star guys. Do you start counting down minutes on the clock like, hey man, you lose a couple of games I'm gonna call you. You lose one, two, three more games I'm gonna call you. Has that happened? No, no, I'd say what I would, I go into mode of amyly, I call you every week. Yeah. I call you every week with your winner losing. I just want to be on the radar. I don't want to all of a sudden look at my phone and Adam Schaefter go, my I was Gary got traded for some shit that you had that you could have traded. Boom. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't let that happen to me. Yeah. That's embarrassing as a, you know, if I, if my, my owner walked in and said, what are we doing in here? Are you guys not staying on top of things? I think every bit of business that you were talking about in the spring time, you need to make sure that conversation is happening on a weekly basis. Hey, just call and say hello.

John Spitech there at the Raiders, just call and say hello. Just wanting to know, man, we still got that, we still got that, we still got that one. We'll move. If you're interested, you know, look at our roster. If there's any players you like, we'll, we'll, we'll talk about this. I think every week, Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, Will McLeod needs to be talking either Tom Brady, John Spitech. So I mean, whoever, whoever is running the Raiders situation, I don't think Mark Davis, I think they, I think he's clearly put it in the hands of his general manager and then Tom Brady in his football operations department. So I'm, I'm making calls. I'm calling Miami. John Eric Sullivan about linebacker play down there. Yeah. I'm calling. I think that I kind of feel like I just don't want to pick up my phone and have that, that Adam Schaefter or Ian Rappapore, Tex say, so and so went and you're like going, where was I? Yeah. Yeah. Why, why was I out at a heart eight barbecue or, you know, eating lunch that day when I

could have been making the deal to make my football team better? Yeah. You got to make those calls every week. Heart eight barbecue. Got some good food. I got some good food. I said them for a reason. Yeah. No, I was there the other night. Okay. We, I took some people over there. Heart eight is really good in, in Dallas and these are folks that aren't sponsors with us really think I just heart eights good, her Tato barbecue is really good. Yeah. Con lodge, barbecue is really good. These are all kind of like legendary places in, in Dallas. So yeah, I just said it because sometimes when I was over at the, it was over by Valley Ranch, we would go eat at heart eight. Yeah. You know, will we miss something? Did something happen? You know, don't, you don't want to be that guy. I would love to barbecue, but it's 103 degrees outside. All right, so we're going to take a quick break and get right back to this giant's defensive breakdown. We'll be right back. This episode is presented by PricePix. And let's go also with Christian McCaffery, the runny back. Let's go with more than half of a touchdown. All we have to do is get one there.

Use our code hma at sign up to win $150 and bonus lineups if you win your first $5 lineup. Good luck. Man, Brian Brothers. I mean, that's your question, man. Yes, sir. When you was outside as a player personnel, man, was there a most common defense that everybody ran? Was it kind of in the middle? Did one team lean one direction and you know, like was it half and half? Because I look around the league now and I go damn, boy, it's a lot of y'all running this three, four. But you go nickel and you do the even front thing. Like it's a lot of y'all transition and we've been covering the Cowboys for months now. And that's what the Cowboys doing. I cut on Giants preseason stuff. Okay, cool. I see three down line and I see outside linebackers, you know, three, four look.

When they go nickel, they go four down guys, two linebackers, right? I'm cutting on different film and I'm seeing the same thing. I cut on the million man margin. I'm seeing the same thing, right? So now I'm like, is before we get into the Giants breakdown, right? I think a lot more teams are running three, four. Why is that, Brian? Why would you say that is? Because you see how it's ran some of the shit last night. The page is ran last night as well, Brian. It just seemed like that's what. And I just feel like back in the day when I was a little young girl, it's like half and half. Whatever you feel philosophically, like, all right, we just run four, three, we just happen to run three, four. And I was like, at least all the best defenses are running three, four. Now, did you have experience seeing it? Yeah, I remember back in the day when, like you would play the Giants and Bill Parsel's was always there, there's certain teams that were three, four teams. I remember going way back in the day with you, look, the, the, the Miami dolphins with these be called the killer bees and, you know, and they had AJ Dewey and,

and these players and, and Bill Arnsberg was a coordinator. You saw three, three, four front. The Denver Broncos back in the day were a three, four front. I, you know, Mike Craig and Plain as a nose tackle. I mean, there were teams that played it. There were a lot of teams that played the four, three front as well. I think you're seeing it nowadays more because what's happening. And this is just my opinion on it. I think you're seeing college personnel. When you and I evaluate the draft, how many of these guys do we think are outside linebacker? So a lot outside linebacker. Yeah. So what's happening is you don't have, you don't have these guys that are, you would think, man, this probably needs to be more for three, but you're having these guys, these tweeners, you're having these guys that are, oh, we can put their hand down, play four, three, or we could stand them up and put them as outside linebacker.

I just think college football where you're getting your players from where more teams are playing with odd fronts. It was only a handful of chaotic fault guys. Yeah. It was a handful of those. But it was a lot of. Yeah, remember, yeah, remember we were sitting there and like we were saying, well, this guy, it's L T over. L T over. L T over. Well, where do you play L T over? And will L T over. And is a, he's a five technique that head up on the tackle or he's playing inside eye of the tackle. You know, he wasn't like, I don't see this guy as an outside rusher. And I think that's what's happening. And we're starting to, like I say, you're starting to see where, remember, there was a time where we had these mammoth defensive tackles. Yeah. You know, he's like, and there was a, yeah, there was, there was, there was a, there was a draft, I mean, it was a couple of traps ago where maybe last year's draft two, but remember, we were evaluate all these man sweat and yeah, all these mammoth, mammoth defensive tackles that were 320, 330 pounds.

And they were all like second, third round guys. And then we had all our outside linebacker or edge guys that we were evaluating. So I think teams are adapting to the college game in a way because that's their source of players. More guys, more colleges are playing that kind of scheme and it's spilling over into what you're seeing in the NFL. It makes sense, Brian, but the Giants going to be running three four. Yeah. They're going to run three four. So I'll just hit you with the low hanger fruit that I'm, I'm a, let your work, Brian. You know, I think they're going to try to stop the run because I think they want to try to pass Roshu to death. They want to get those guys active, those athletic rushers rushing against you. The Cowboys going to have to block those guys because I think you can take advantage of their corners. Like it's the same blueprint as last year. They added some guys, they added, you know, they got the linebacker and the safety in there, the corner, we're going to break all those guys down. But for the most part, the Giants blueprint pretty much is the same thing. But if I had to go against the Giants, I'm trying to run the football, Brian.

I'm trying to go right at them. I would just start at the first level here. Their down guys is Chancigost and Shelby Harris, DJ Reader. And all those guys, I respect DJ Reader a little bit the most. I've seen him whoop ass actively, especially first my Cowboys, but Chancigost and Shelby Harris, they not really keep me up at night. Brian, what about these three down guys? Yeah, I think to me that the ones, it's, it's a different group than what we've seen from the Giants in the past where they had those, Dexter Lawrence, those mammoth guys playing inside and Dallas was having that was always a fight. I remember Tyler Beaudish, those guys are, it's like they're not getting any movement. They're just, it's a stalemate. There's nowhere for the backs to run. Zeaks kind of banging in in there and it's nothing's really kind of going well for you there. I'll say this about, you mentioned about the front. If I could tie it into, because the statement you made about, they're going to try and stop the run first.

This is where I think Dallas needs to be different. I think Dallas needs to be different because to stop the run, what do you usually have to do? To stop the run, you've got low the box a little bit. There you go. Now you leave your susceptible corners, your corners on the G-P. There you go. There you go. To me coming out and throwing, because the Giants are probably already worried about your receivers. That's a bad mismatch for them. Your receivers versus their corners. Well how do they play against teams that are going to win on the outside all the time over the top? If you play over the top, then you can't play run defense. I think Dallas needs to come out in this game and establish that their wide receivers are clearly better and make the Giants have to play you over the top. Once they start playing you over the top, now fire it at that box.

They can't commit the safety play to, you want to be safe, pause there, didn't you? No, you've got to pause method. That's actually the opposite. Yeah, I bet all right. I saw the smile as Susan said, this football gets you in trouble that way by the way. There's a lot of things in football that you just say and then you think about it and you're like, yeah, why not? Ram it up the holes. Ram it in the hole. You're like Darian Price, even really bad at everything. Ram it up in the hole. Yeah, but see, so now you're in a situation to where, I think that to me, establishing dominance on the outside makes the Giants have to think about how they're going to play you. We're just going to continue to get punished defending the run, but knowing that our corners on the outside aren't holding up great. That's where I think Dallas, I think that's where Dallas has a huge advantage. Now, do they have an advantage doing this throw in the football when it comes to the protection? It's going to be a little bit different, but this is where all of a sudden Ferguson,

this is where Williams, this is where use them, span forward, use them as. Helpers to get the ball. Make the Giants have to defend your pass first. You can really go out there and make the Giants play chicken with you because they don't have the personnel in my personal opinion. They don't have the personnel to where they can defend both at the same time. If they have better corners, then you can load the box and have your corners outside with your receivers. They're going to be kind of fine. I don't think they got great corners. I think they're going to find Phillips. I think they're going to find Newman. I think they're going to find Banks. I think they're going to make those dudes cover you. I'm saying anything. Look, it ain't going to work all that great. The second that they dropped guys back, which is what the Cowboys didn't have the luxury of Lacia, Brian. When you commit more guys to safety or doubling one of your wire receivers or whatever, you open up the box a little bit. The box gets lighter, but you couldn't run the ball last year because you were in shoot-outs

all the time. The other team, Jay-Jay McCarty, the damn third-shrink quarterback now. He was in a shoot-out with you. Russell Wilson, about to work for CBS and some shit. He was, you know what I'm saying? I think now the Cowboys with a better Cowboys defense have the luxury to run the ball when they want to. So the Giants about to be in limbo for real, how do you dictate this? And that is the type of quarterback that can make change at the line of scrimmage. So that's even worse for them. But the biggest threat from the Giants are the rushers, Brian. I'll tell you what's about Brian Burns and Reese sometimes when he would rush because he's mostly a linebacker. And Carter and Tibido on those guys. Yeah, it's amazing. It's amazing what's happened. It's amazing what's happened to the Giants when you watch them play. Kind of thinking that boy that Tibido is going to be a hell of a player. Boy, he's going to be somebody you have to deal with. Now he's a guy that like you watch them start these preseason games and he's over there like he's over there. Like he's there playing him. Oh, preseason in play.

Yeah, they're playing him. They're playing him like, you know, it's like they're resting guys, but they go into the third series, who's Russian? Tibido is in their Russian. And you talk about a guy that is kind of as fallen from grace. But I, Brian Burns could be a problem. And this is where, you know, this is where the matchups start because they do move their guys around. They're going to hunt this. And what you have to make sure that you do that is you don't allow Brian Burns to take over this game. If it's in the Cowboys, I know I promised you guys I was going to do this. And but I need to look at these numbers because if you go through the games, it's like 78%, 80%, 83%. The number of times that the Cowboys keep their tackles one on one without help. I think it's going to be a little bit different in this game. We'll see with how they handle.

I think Burns is definitely the most, the scariest, if you want to say, I'm, yeah, he's the one that if you, if you said, okay, Brian, pick somebody out on that defense. Burns is most efficient. Most efficient. He's the one that you have to worry about the most. You do. You do. And so, Tibido, not so much, I think Tibido hasn't really, hasn't got it yet. We'll see about with Carter and stuff with Abdul Carter. Because this time when Abdul Carter rushes and he gets hung up on blockers, whereas Burns is breaking you down. And I think that's where I think he's the guy that I would worry about the most. If your last name was Jones, would you pick up the phone and call about K-Von? Tibido. Probably not. Probably not. I kind of feel like he feels very much like a miss to me. He feels very much like, and maybe, maybe he's, I mean, we've seen some guys like, Chase

on. You know, that were not, Chase on wasn't that highly, but not like, Tibido, Tibido was a, highly drafted player. And you kind of wonder, that would be down Dallas's MO. They love it. They love a guy like, this was our, this was our third best player on the team. And our board. Is it K-Von Tibido or is it more like, like a Chase Young type guy? Chase Young is another one. Chase Young is another one. Chase Young is not going to change the world. Chase Young is a fine starter. Yeah. But he ain't, well, we thought Chase Young is not coming in tear shit up. Yeah. Yeah. Is it closer? Yeah, he's a disappointment for the Johns, but would he be a help here? Could he improve us? Yeah, see, that's the thing about it. You have, you have so many young guys. You have, you know, when you start with Ezoraku, you have, you know, Lawrence. Yeah, Gary and those kind of, but you have young guys that you would surely like to see. If you took Tibido in here, you put him in there, you know, at, at whose spot?

I mean, who, who are you, you, you, you, you, you, yeah, James Houston. Sure, sure, sure. Yeah, that's you say. I mean, you're betting on the upside of him. I mean, you've seen James Houston have days where limited snaps make good past rushes and get sacks. Tibido, Tibido, there was so much promise, so much, you know, well, this, he could do this and this and that, you know, you're kind of, and then you're watching him with, and then the league and it's just, it's so, just flatlined with him. Yeah. Just so flatlined. So I, I don't, I don't think I would do that. I don't think I would do that. And Brian, the Cowboys have had success versus the, the giants and their rushes, like even the rushes having a, a cool little day to Cowboys still go out there and throw 30 some points on them. On a scale of 1 to 10, what show level of confidence when Brian Burns lines up against Tyler Gait? I think, I think Burns against Gaiton, I feel there's a possibility.

I think there's a, I think there's going to be a 70% chance that Gaiton's going to hold up. Steels the one that I'm thinking like maybe steals maybe 60% chance of holding up. Because the odd thing about steel is he'll lose to the power guys. Yeah. And he'll be fine sometimes versus the bursty dudes, but he'll lose it sometimes. Like I don't quite know who Ter still loses to. Pass rush. Ter still loses to. He loses. He's just a Gary's ass. Yeah. He loses to the guy. He loses to the guy that knows that if he puts his head in the middle of his chest and drives at the quarterback, it's the same thing that happens to Elemanur for the giants. When you, when you watch him set, you see retreat. You see, and it's not retreat on his own. It's, he gets driven back. And I think the same thing happens to steal that he just does not have the ability to sit

on somebody and hold them and put his knees down. If the wider they go, the more he can push, sometimes people will just run around it. But man, the ones, the ones that I worry about the most were still, if somebody says, I'm going to take my forehead, I'm going to put it right in the middle of his chest. I'm going to run him right to the quarterback. Fantastic point. So that's the reason why it has, right? Yeah. Abdul Carter still leaves rundown of the middle of you guys. He does. He does. He absolutely does. So what's the worst matchup for Tarris steel? The worst matchup is the guy who can get him going backwards fast. And then, and then all of a sudden, the shoulder collapses. And now it's, he's got you broken down. If I'm decking, I see three on, on Tarris steel side, I'm more worried about that. Brian Burns can whoop steel too. Yeah. I feel worse if Carter was over there because that's Carter's game. Run down the middle of you. Now luckily for steel, Carter don't get all blocks.

Carter will stay stuck on blocks, but how much ground do you give up being driven back? Yeah. That's, you know, things you worry about with quit game is how much ground you give up. And you know, we've seen, we've seen this in college football through, you know, through the really the first week of the season. A lot of tip passes because the limiter getting driven, but the ball is trying to come out so quick that these defenders are driving and then getting hands up. Right. And once they do that, then all of a sudden you're getting tip passes. And so with DAC, as much as DAC likes to work the slants and the inside parts of the game, you can't afford to get pushed and then hands up. You almost have to have to jump set every time if it's a catcher. Yeah. Or a quick set of guy, quick set of guy for sure. Brian, your giants friends were a correspondent which you were getting information from them and they felt really good about the off-ball linebackers. Yeah, they do. They feel like really good admins. Talk to us about those guys. Yeah.

The giants, we've kind of documented in our broadcasts and here today that the giants at one time had these huge, movable type of defenders, a defensive tackle. And their linebackers weren't as good as we've seen in giants have had a history of some really some great linebackers. But this group is they don't have the defensive tackles like they've had in the past. So now they're going to have to rely more on these linebackers. And Tremaine Evans, it was a guy that they got from the Bears and they've added him to the inside. They drafted Arville Reese. I've been impressed with Arville Reese. I think Arville Reese is one of these guys when you watch him play like we watch sunny styles play and sunny styles is more about being an athlete and kind of dipping in doing what he has to do to kind of avoid blocks. I think Arville Reese is better taken on blocks.

You see some pop and some power. And so if you go up there and just try and think you're going to move Arville Reese, you know, go up there and say, okay, I'm just going to put my hands on him and try that's. He is going to come and deliver a blow. He's going to engage you and then he's going to find a way to shed and get in on the play. For a young guy, I was really impressed. We didn't see much of Edmunds at all in the games I watched. What it was, it was Michael McFadden, number 41 was the guy. So it was Reese and McFadden. And it was clear when you're watching him play, how well Reese was able to get to the ball and take it on and then go make a play. But they're really high on both their linebackers and they feel like that they can make up for any deficiencies they have at defensive tackle with these two inside linebackers. You know, pretty Tyler Smith getting hurt. You felt really, really good about your interior. Yeah.

I just want to put on record. I still feel really good about TJ Bass. Sure. About Bass, BB and Booker on the inside. I still feel really, really good about those guys being able to control all the nonsense happening in the middle and then being able to climb to the next level and deal with. One thing that Bass is shockingly good at, shockingly you wouldn't think this, but he gets to the second level really well. Second level blocker, past blocker, TJ Bass is really good at that. As far as down alignment, as long as he's combo in guys, I think he's good to go. DJ readers to do, I keep saying that. I think a lot of people sleep on DJ Reader. I've seen DJ Reader who passed quietly for a long time. Reader one on one with Bass, I don't like, he would need help there. I feel good about any combination of BB and Booker versus Reader. Besides that, I think Chancet can go. I think Shelby Harris can go. So if we get to the second level and you're dealing with recent Edmonds, who are bigger, like Edmonds and Reads are bigger than linebackers, shots out to the giants for doing that on purpose, but I think as long as you seal those guys, like second level, I think that's what I'm

talking about. I think the level blocker might be the most important thing this year. Dillon with those guys, or this week. Dillon with those two, I think you could run the football all day if you could block those two. Right. Yeah, it's the, you're talking about recent Edmonds. All linebackers. Yeah. Edmonds is like 250, 251 and Reads is 245 in that range. So yeah, they are a bigger group. But it's going to come. There's going to be some collisions in the hole. If they don't get, if Dallas, BB and Booker to me, this is where I kind of feel like Dallas, maybe with Smith, you really are kind of balanced the way you run with Smith at Guard. You're really balanced. You can play, you can run it left, you can run it right. I think Dallas becomes a right handed team here. So with trying to run behind BB, Booker and Steel, and then put Span forward over there.

We've talked about this where you feel like this and correct me if I'm wrong on this one. To me, I would much rather, and this is what John Oning and I were talking about on Onet the other day, is that felt like that Steel can move, can move better when he has to block to the outside, then when he does, when he has to cut somebody off. So if Dallas starts to become that right handed team where they're letting him reach, reach, reach, and just run with guys, then that's where they just try and stretch that BB gap and see if they can get some opportunities there. But like I said, I think we're going to see them run the ball more to the right side than they will with the left side. Brian, here's the feature presentation we teased earlier, but I kind of want to put some names to faces at this point. I don't think, I don't look, man, Greg Newsome had his little quote in the media.

I don't really care about him having a quote. You know, of them thinking that they're the best cornerback room in the league. I don't care about a player thinking that. The fact is, it's just ain't true first of all. Even if it were, even if it were kind of true, right? Take a team that got great corners. Like take the Eagles. The Eagles got great corners. They got all pro corners. You still got why receivers that can attack those guys. Sure. So when we do these weekly breakdowns, Brian, there's never going to be a team where I go into that game thinking our why receivers are going to have a tough time versus those corners. Right. I think you can win. Dallas will have the advantage of most majority of the game. I think you can whoop a mile, Brian. Not alone. Drew Phillips, Tyler Nubin. Greg Newsome is fine. He can get work too. Paulson, Adibo, Deontay Banks. I have history of these cowboys receivers running away from these guys. Yeah. I know what it looks like. I've seen it with my eyes. I've seen Terpenteri rise these people. You know, flow is four time wire receiver now.

He's four time wire receiver three now. I can see flow taking advantage of these people. Drew Phillips, like what, five, five, seven, five, eight, Brian? Yeah, he's not the, he's not, he's actually five, eleven. They say measured five or more like five, ten. You look a little bit of the me. Flow as your slide receiver sometimes, still six, one or CD as your slide receiver. Sure. You know what I mean? Brian, I think as long as the cowboys are able to block this thing over, which I think they will. I don't think you just turned it into Chas Green overnight. You may have one, one play where you look like Chas Green. But for the most part, I think the cowboys are able to block this thing over, I think CD lamp, George Pickens flow. If you want to incorporate turpent on some, I hope it's not gadgety every time. Don't get cute. Just go with these guys down feel. Ferguson, Brevis, man, for Brian, I think you're going to be the shot of these guys and they, they, they're second to the, my giant's folks are, they're just watching the five seven for real. Yeah. He is, he is five seven. He is. He is. He is. He is. He is. Yeah. I want to Jeff Cabinol's favorite guys back of the day. Another time in this lake, yeah, I think the thing about it is when you start to talk about

the, the giants, the cowboys clearly, or there's clearly advantages at quarterback and there's clearly some advantages at wide receiver when you start to talk about how the giants will match up. The giants have some questions about their secondary. They will tell you and, and the guys I've talked to have been super critical of the ante banks and what he, what he's done. And they're like, listen, this guy, he just, it's, it's been, you know, we draft him in the first round in 23. It's been a struggle, you know, but now maybe with some different coaching, maybe with some different ideas, maybe some different techniques, things like that. They feel like that banks just kind of turn the corner. They drafted Colton Hood, who we liked, you know, from Tennessee. You remember him playing opposite our guy there. And you know, Colton Hood showed up, you know, he lasted till the second round. I, I know, I think you had a second round, great on him. That's the one. Yeah, hi, too. I know I had him in the first. So, you know, where he, where he went.

So obviously we thought enough of Colton Hood. And they're trying to work him in. You write about the veteran with Greg Newsom. You write about Drew Phillips, you know, with a, a, a, a Debo, Paulson DeDeebo. There in a little bit of some flux right now. And they don't really know who is, do they can rely on? Maybe a little bit like Dallas the situation, you know, like who is going to be starters, who are going to be backups of the giants in the same way. But you have a clear, clear, clear path to winning this football game. If in fact you could take advantage of these why, of, excuse me, of this secondary. But and, and then who is in, who is in that mix? We'll see who it is, whether it's banks, a Debo, Hood. Newsom, I think we'll always be a guy in. But Dallas needs to do as much good as they can against this crew. Brian, what do you think Holland is at this point? I know he was a solid player with Miami. Yeah. Now he's here. Oh, where you at with him? Cause I got to see it to believe it, you know what I mean?

Like he was, he was a cool player. I think people kind of like him a little more than I did. Uh, but how does, how does Holland as the one high guy fit in all this? Yeah, he's a guy that's around the ball. But you didn't always see a guy that was like, there were times where when he was put in coverage, that you saw this guy that, that he, that he wasn't able to mirror as well as you'd like most of your guys to mirror. Uh, you know, like there were teams that were like, when he got thrown in some double move stuff, people took advantage because he's trying to react. He's around the ball. He's had a history of having interceptions and things like that. So, you know, he's capable of, of doing that. But when you watch him play teams that were trying to kind of play with his eyes and play with like, with like say the double moves, the, the stuff like that, he could give up some big plays that way. And so that's where I think that Dallas going into this game is.

So can they get, can they get the ball down the field? Can they take advantage of him? Can his eyes be somewhere else? And then the ball go in there. Can you fool him that way? He's a veteran guy and they got him to, they got him to, to play in these situations. And if Dallas is in a situation where they're throwing the ball well, their answer is going to be to play guys over the top. And this is where Holland, instead of being around the ball or down near the ball where he can make plays and make tackles, he's going to have to be playing on the back and that's not one of his strengths when it comes to the deeper part of the field. Ultimately, Brown, what I think we're going to do is on Fridays, we're going to do Q and A. So we're going to let people ask us whatever they want to ask us. But the day before we do Q and A, we ain't got to do predictions. That's what other shows do. Yeah. But at least we can have like a confidence meter, you know, Brian, anything can, can happen. Cowboys go out there, look, Cray is on offense and Christian Parker could be worse

if we don't know, right? We don't know. But as of now from what you've seen, what you've evaluated, what's your level of confidence going into this, this, this, this, Giants game? Well, confident level is, I think there's certain levels that you absolutely, and some of the most important levels is the quarterback play. You win there. You win with the quarterback. We saw what happened in that New England game when you have quarterback play at the end of it completely falls apart, which Drake may. You end up losing a football game. A game you should have absolutely won with Drew Locke playing on the other side of the field. You know, they're, they're super bowl winning quarterback was gone the fifth play of the game. So Dallas needs to take advantage of having the best quarterback here, you know, where Dallas also needs to take advantage of having the best wide receivers, you know, George Pickens, CDLAM, Flow. Those guys need to show up and make some big plays. If Dallas is able to block the front, able to kind of handle any type of games, any blitzes or anything like we might see pressure, which Dac is generally really good at doing,

they need to punish this, this New York Giants defense, because they're right now they have some questions about, you know, where they're at. Defensively, my confidence meter is Christian Parker, there's really, you could talk about Vic Fangeo and stuff like that. But what we know right now about Christian Parker is he doesn't have tendencies. And this is where most game plans are built from. It's great point. It's tendencies. So there's no tendencies for them to study. And the one thing that we've learned from the Vic Fangeo defense over the years is Vic Fangeo's defenses don't give you tendencies to begin with. So that's the thing about it. And we get further along with Christian Parker. The one thing that he, I'm sure that he's learned from Vic Fangeo is don't give them anything, play it the same depth, play with the same, give you the same look whether it's run or pass. That's what quarterbacks come to the line. Look, they're looking for that tell.

What is that tell? Jackson Dart doesn't have any tells on Christian Parker. My confidence meter is that he'll do things to make things a little uncomfortable for him. And Dallas's receivers running game, they find a way offensively to get things done. I'm a little more of a homer than you, Brian. You know what I'm saying? I don't call it down the middle. You're a cowboy fan as well, but you tend to call it down, you know, call it down the middle. I think they're going to beat the shot to giants. You know what I mean? You know, Jacob, you want to put something in captions? Don't do this. I think the cowboys are going to beat the shit out of the giants, Brian. That's just how I feel. I think these first two games, nothing's easy in the league. Right. Nothing's easy. But these first two games you should take care of business. And I don't want the cowboys thinking that because you don't want them looking ahead to the Ravens or whatever, right? But I'll start to sweat a little bit when we got to go to Rio and play Baltimore. And then we got to come back and play Houston. That's when my personal opinion, that's when the real test start to happen. I don't think Jackson, Dar's good enough. The defensive personnel is better. It's just that the cowboys offense has nuclear missiles on both sides of the field.

And some cool little homing joints here and some nice little rifles behind. As you know, I'm saying, I just don't think that the giants as much as they've improved, I don't think I still don't think that they're equipped. If Destiny Lawrence was here, then maybe that's one less, I mean, that's your Lord's the kids TJ pass. That's another thing to destroy. If they had one better corner, maybe that's another thing to talk about. But the cowboys are just so equipped offensively. I just think that it's hard for most teams to match up with them. And the cowboys prove that to you last year. So as long as the defense do their job, hey, man, it is what it is, man. Hey, but like I said to you, put us on too. Like I said, y'all earlier though, we will be, I will be putting out the bat signal. Okay, I'll look in the comments section of this video, leave questions there. I'll put the bat signal over on my Twitter, Brian to probably read a tweet, a quote, tweet or something like that and just leave them all there. Give us your questions. Try not to ask us about mass crossbeek. Try not to ask us about trick. If you can, if you can, if we can make this a weekly base, like, hey, y'all got giant's questions or something like that.

Hey, Brian, what's some, Brian advised? What's, what's something that we missing with, with this matchup? We would love questions like that, but y'all do a really good job of asking those.
