Tonight's a great night.
We've got three open lines.
Right now, you'll be sure to get in, 877-655-6755.
While we're waiting for those calls to come in, we're going to go to Illinois in about
60 seconds.
But first, I want to remind you of a very special resource we are offering this month and
the month of March.
It's called Grace Without Guardrails.
You're going to love it.
It's going to be a big encouragement to you.
And here's a little bit about it.
That's cheap grace.
That's hyper-grace.
That's greasy grace.
Have you heard those accusations?
Well, first, there's nothing cheap about God's grace.
After all, it costs Jesus everything.
It costs Him His life.
Then God's grace is free to you and me.
So cheap grace, I don't think so.
And hyper-grace?
Well, I got to admit, God's grace does make me hyper a lot when I think about the
sacrifice of Christ.
Plus, oh my goodness, the prefix hyper is all over the New Testament to describe God's
grace.
It's grace upon grace upon grace.
You never have too much.
And that's the beauty of the true message of the gospel of God's grace.
I'm excited about this new resource we have to offer this month.
It's called Grace Without Guardrails.
Why?
Because limitless grace is not a license to sin.
It's actually a license to discover your new heart and what you really desire at the
core of your being.
So we want to put this in your hands this month to encourage you and show you what it
means to have this new, beautiful heart that inspires you every single day in an atmosphere
of grace underneath the canopy of God's perfect love we get to grow up in Him.
So make sure to request your copy of Grace Without Guardrails when you give your gift
this month to the grace message and thank you so much for your support.
Yes, again, it is called Grace Without Guardrails.
You're going to love it when you discover the limitless grace of God.
You also discover power over sin.
That's right.
From the law, sin is dead.
That means under God's grace, sin is dead.
And how does all that work?
Well, actually, it's pretty clear in the scriptures that when you choose God's grace, it allows
the Holy Spirit to do what He does best.
And that is, cause us to bear fruit, the fruit of the Spirit.
It happens in an atmosphere of God's liberating, amazing, beautiful grace.
You're going to love this resource.
It takes just two minutes to give your gift and make sure when you do, you check that box
and request your copy of Grace Without Guardrails.
You can go to AndrewFarley.org, again, that's AndrewFarley.org.
All right, let's go now to Illinois and we'll talk with Jody.
Hi, Jody.
What you got for us?
Well, hi there.
Pastor Andrew, which is great to finally be talking to you.
A first time caller, a longtime listener, because, yep, to be honest, I have been very nervous
to make this call.
So I wrote down what I'd like to say and I want you to know that my husband, our daughters,
my dad and I have learned so much from you and your ministry.
God's grace is the answer, Jesus plus nothing.
So here goes.
In the spring of 2021, the Lord used your message, the truth about law and grace, to set my family
free from law-based righteousness, which could have destroyed us and unfortunately did
destroy our ministry.
So regarding these last five years, we just can't get enough of your teaching.
We own about ten of your books.
I order your CD sets and play them on repeat and let truth sell our home 24-7.
God has given you a gift in the way you present the truth.
If only we'd been under it from the very beginning of our salvation, it would have spared us
a lot of heartache.
But that's okay.
The Lord has used it, used our testimonies for his glory.
We praise him for the grace message and appreciate your hard work and dedication from you and
your staff as we understand the challenges that ministers face.
We're looking forward to meeting you at one of your conferences in the future.
Thank you for heating God's call in your life.
Wow.
Wow, Judy.
Thank you so much.
What a beautiful message and a big encouragement.
Yeah.
Thanks for coming.
Five years to tell you that, my brother, it really has revolutionized everything.
Wow.
So cool.
Well, listen, Judy, I hope this is the beginning of a number of calls in the future.
Let me tell you, it's really easy to be a part of the program and just ask anything you
want.
We want to hear from you or anybody in your family whenever you feel like it.
Don't hesitate.
Don't be shy.
And thank you.
Thank you for that encouragement.
That is so awesome.
You're welcome.
I will definitely be calling.
I've got a lot of questions.
Good.
Good.
Well, join us anytime and thanks again.
Thanks to your whole family.
Please give them my love and tell them I said, thank you for the big, big encouragement.
I will do it.
God bless you, my friend.
All right.
God bless you, Judy.
Well, that was Jodi in Illinois and that is so, so cool that she took time.
Your family took time to encourage us here at the Grace message.
So I know our whole team loves to hear that that we're impacting lives and we know that.
I mean, we can see that from behind the scenes.
We see it in the number of, oh, my goodness, I mean, what, 21, 22 million app views and
six and a half million downloads of podcasts, but it's the one.
It's the one that calls, the one that emails, the one that, you know, chooses to encourage
us verbally.
It just is really special when that happens.
So Jodi, again, thank you so much.
We love your family.
We're so grateful.
You're connected with us and reach out to us again anytime.
We want to hear from you on any questions that come up.
Hey, everyone.
Andrew Farley here.
If you feel led to support the Grace message and help us continue reaching even more people
with this life changing message, we invite you to visit Andrew Farley dot org slash
give.
We're truly grateful for your support and for being connected with us as we share the
incredible message of God's love and grace.
Once again, that's Andrew Farley dot org slash give.
All right.
Two Pennsylvania nags, Dan will talk with Chris.
I Chris, what you got for us tonight.
Hi, I'm reading through the Bible and this year and I'm to the part where Moses is
not allowed to go in to the the promise land with that the only whatever he was promised
to go to and go out letting him.
And I just want to know like why?
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, let's talk about that.
And then even on top of that, I want to talk about the New Testament parallel because
even as we read the Old Testament, there's always a New Testament truth to be learned.
So first of Moses, he wasn't allowed to enter the promise land because at that place
called Meribah, right?
Meribah is where he misrepresented God's heart.
He ended up acting out, lashing out an anger.
He struck that rock instead of speaking to it.
He got mad and he struck that rock and God had told him just to speak to it and it wasn't
God's mind.
It wasn't just like a small slip or a blunder or an accident, but it was a it was a leader
Moses, the leader of all the people and under the old covenant, he was to be leading them
and obeying God, but he sent the wrong picture to Israel.
He sent them a picture of rage and anger and fury and so God said, I mean, you can find
this in Numbers 20, Numbers chapter 20 contains this, but God said, speak to the rock before
their eyes that it may yield water.
But instead Moses struck the rock twice and spoke harshly to the people because you
did not believe me, God said to Moses, to treat me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel,
you shall not bring this assembly into the land.
So if you're looking for that specific chapter to study, I would encourage you to go to
Numbers chapter 20 starting in verse 7, but that's the bottom line.
I mean, you know, earlier, God had commanded striking the rock once and water flowed out
of it.
In Exodus 17, water flows out of the rock, but later when he told Moses to speak to the
rock, Moses struck it again and basically it all looked angry and harsh and it made God
look harsh to the people of Israel and he was actually being gracious.
And so you might say it was a misrepresentation.
It was a misrepresentation of God's heart.
So isn't that interesting?
Who's the rock?
Who do we call the rock today?
Well, Christ is the rock and you know what, that rock was a struck one time, you might
say.
One time for our sins, not twice, not in rage, not in anger, not in desperation.
Didn't need to be struck twice and three and five times to make us forgiven.
That rock was struck once.
I'm talking about the finished work of the cross and that is a beautiful thing.
And yet if it's misrepresented, then we lose our reputation, we're not, we're doing
a disservice, we're misrepresenting God's heart, we're misleading the people.
And so there's certainly a shadow or a picture there.
And also, you know, the Promised Land, the Promised Land can represent salvation.
It does in the book of Hebrews.
It represents salvation itself.
I mean Joshua bringing the people, Joshua is a type or a picture or a shadow of Christ.
And so the Promised Land, you know, entering God's rest or entering that land is a picture
of resting in Christ.
And you know, there's really one way to do that.
And that's to obey the gospel.
Jesus is the way, the truth, the life, nobody comes to the Father except through Him.
So what is obeying?
It's believing, believing the gospel, believing Jesus and knowing that He's the only way.
One name under heaven by which we can be saved.
And if you miss that, if people misrepresent that message, then folks are going to miss
it.
And therefore they're going to miss what it means to rest in Christ and in His finished
work.
So I hope that's helpful to you, Chris.
I want to put you back on and see.
Does that make sense?
Yes, very, very much.
I mean, I think where Moses, I think, was confused because God told him to take his staff with
him.
Uh-huh.
Yes.
And that is just like, oh.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right.
So is it really, though, confusion for Moses?
Was Moses just not able to understand God, God just wasn't clear?
I mean, you know, it wasn't like an oops mistake on the part of Moses.
I get it.
He's holding his staff and he had instructions previously.
But in a way, I mean, maybe God allowed this to happen to communicate with us today exactly
what I was talking about.
So Jesus dies once.
He doesn't die twice.
Jesus needed to die once.
He didn't need to die twice.
When God says, once is enough, He means it.
And so you're as forgiven today as you'll ever need to be.
You're as freed from the law today as you'll ever need to be.
You are as much a new creation with that new, beautiful heart God gave you because of the
finished work of Christ you're, you're already new.
You don't need to try to get new.
So once is enough.
That might be the theme or the motto or the moral of the story is that once is enough.
So I think we learned something about listening to God, about obeying the truth and about
once being enough.
So thanks for the opportunity to talk about it.
Always remember when you're reading the Old Testament, let it be a shadow, a picture,
a symbol of what is to come and that is Christ, the reality that you enjoy right now.
Sometimes when we dig a little deeper, there's an amazing truth that points us to Jesus.
And then it's so much richer.
So thanks again for your call.
Reach out to us in Pennsylvania any time.
Well that frees up all of our lines right now.
We do have about six, eight minutes left.
So there's plenty of time.
Do you have a question tonight about a scripture passage, something you heard in church or
scrolling through social media, jump in right now, give us a call.
Maybe you've got a question about something I've taught on recently, whatever it is,
whatever's on your heart tonight, we want to help you.
But while we're waiting for that next call to come in, I was talking moments ago about
the law and throughout history people have used analogies to try to capture the relationship
between law and grace.
And basically one of those that's really popular is that the law is like a mirror, right?
The law is like a mirror.
It shows you the dirt on your face, but it doesn't clean you.
When you wake up in the morning, you go into the restroom and perhaps you begin to wash
your face and shave or do whatever you do.
And the mirror is there and it shows you the problem, but it doesn't fix your problem.
Not once have you torn that mirror off the wall to try to shave your face or to try to
clean your face.
So the mirror points out the problem, but it doesn't fix you.
So isn't that interesting that we got this situation where the law is the same way.
The law is our tutor to lead us to Christ.
But now that we're in Christ, we're not under the tutor.
So the law showed us our problem as unbelievers, but it does not fix us.
And so that's why it's a mistake for believers today to say that we still need the law for
something.
Believers don't need the law.
You don't need the law to define sin.
If the law defined sin for you, then eating pork would be sin.
Eating shellfish would be sin.
Saturday yard work would be sin.
So we don't even know what we're asking at that point.
So isn't it a beautiful thing to know the truth?
We're dead to the law free from the law.
But under the law, Christ is the end of the law for all those who believe.
All right, let's go to Ohio for our next call.
We'll talk with India.
Hi, India.
What you got for us today.
Hi, Dr. Farley.
I had a question about Abraham and Isaac and the sacrifice that was supposed to, I guess,
never happened.
But the previous caller who just, you know, was asking about Moses, I was thinking about
since I've been listening to you for this past year, I've really been understanding that
Abraham, it wasn't just his obedience, but I'm looking at if this could be, you know,
from parallel to the old covenant and that the old covenant was never supposed to be
established.
But I'm trying to describe it the best way I can.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
I mean, when I know it says God satisfied his wrath, I, you know, putting his thumb on
the cross and kind of that father's thumb, dynamic, if you can, if you want to go.
Yeah.
Now, I think you nailed it there.
That's what we want to talk about is the father, son, dynamics.
So we never want to say that, you know, the law was not God's plan or something like that.
I mean, you know, grace is older than law in a way, right?
I mean, the, the new covenant is older than the old in a way because of that promise to
Abraham, that promise by faith.
And so the promise came 430 years before the law came.
So the new covenant is older than the old in that sense.
The promise of the new is older than the old.
And so Moses shows up four centuries later with tablets in his hand.
But what we see with Abraham, it preceded the law.
And so that's a beautiful picture.
You're right.
There's something deep and meaningful here that faith came apart from the law.
If you had interviewed Abraham and said, Hey, what do you think of Moses in his tablets
of stone?
You know what Abraham would have said?
He would have said, Moses, who?
I've never heard of him.
Exactly.
That's the whole point.
4 centuries separate faith and law.
And Galatians says the law is not of faith.
So isn't it interesting that, you know, we have this great divide of 400 years on purpose.
Again, a shadow, a picture, a symbol, God's trying to show us.
You got faith.
And then you got law keeping.
But the law is not of faith.
And there is a righteousness that comes apart from the law, apart from the works of
the law.
So that's what Abraham had.
He had that kind of righteousness credited to him.
And we have that righteousness as well, not just credited.
But we have also become the righteousness of God.
We are slaves of righteousness.
That's nature talk.
And it comes by faith in Jesus, not by the law.
So if you follow me, it's like bookends.
I mean, we got Abraham who represents faith and faith in Jesus, a foreshadowing with
his son Isaac.
We got Abraham.
Then we got four centuries.
And then we got the law showing up finally.
Now is the law like an addendum?
Is the law an add-on?
Is the law an extra?
No, it's not grace plus law.
Law is a separate system.
And law never saved anybody.
So the scripture says the law came in so that we might become conscious of sin or a
wearer of sin.
That's the law's job.
As I said earlier, it's like a mirror.
So you got faith which is represented in Abraham with Isaac.
That's faith and that's grace and that's salvation through Jesus.
Then you got 400 years and then you got Moses and then you got all these years, all these
centuries.
You got Jesus which changes everything for us.
So you can see how the promise of the new is older than the old.
And the promise of the new to Abraham came before Moses.
And it's like a car contract.
Let's say I was going to go by, oh, I don't know what they cost these days.
Let's say I was going to go by a Honda Civic and I was ready to pay, you know, $24,000
for a Honda Civic.
So I go there and I negotiate the deal and I sign the contract and I drive the car
home.
Well, 430 days later, 430 days later, the dealer calls and he leaves a voicemail and he
says, Andrew, I know you paid $24,000 for that Honda Civic, but we made some mistakes.
We've made some additions to the contract.
We need you to come back in and initial some things and we're going to need $3,000 more
dollars from you.
Well, you know what?
I'm not calling back.
A deal is a deal.
A contract is a contract.
You don't add to it.
You don't add to it 430 days later, but you see what I'm saying.
The law came in 430 years after the promise to Abraham.
You don't renegotiate the original contract, do you?
So it's grace upon grace upon grace.
That is the truth about the new covenant promised to Abraham and brought into effect through
Jesus Christ.
It is not Jesus plus Moses, it is Jesus plus nothing, a hundred percent natural no additives.
That's the gospel we preach and teach and believe and proclaim to the world because
it is the one and only gospel, the true gospel.
And it's plastered all over the New Testament that you as a believer in Jesus, you have
died to the law, you're not under the law.
Christ is the end of the law for whom?
For all those who believe.
