There are many habits that can change your life. But if I was tasked with giving you just one, to have the ultimate effect, the ultimate impact on how you live your life, the one thing that centers everything else, and allows the rest of your life to become easy. The one habit that you've seen me do, and you've asked me questions about, and has completely changed my life. And often people don't know how to do it, or they don't think they're doing it correctly. And that habit is journaling. Which I used to think was really stupid. I used to think there was no point in journaling at all. And I couldn't have been more wrong.
And a lot of you asked me, how do I journal? Why is that important? Why is that a good habit? And I want to tell you how I do it. How I made myself start journaling. Why it's been such a good impact on my life? And how to actually do it? What you should actually write about. How do you actually make it useful? See, journaling's given me a lot of inner peace. As an entrepreneur, as a high achieving individual, so many things you want to do. So many places you want to go. And so many ideas running around in your head. Not to mention the fact that the world is bombarding you with information. You're watching social media. People's lives look better than yours. It can get very overwhelming for any of us. And journaling is your way to take a little bit of time. A little bit of peace to understand yourself. Because when a man understands himself, then he can really bend reality in the world. And you have self-awareness. And you know what you want. You're clear on who you are.
And where you're going. When you've got that clarity, action is quite easy. Most of us never find that clarity. Most of us never find out what we truly want. And that's because we don't look deep enough. We don't look inside ourselves. That's what journaling helps you do. So how should you journal? Journaling can be absolutely anything you want it to be. There are really no rules. I'll give you my procedure, but you're more than welcome to make up your own. The first thing I would start with is getting a pen and a book. A fairly essential ingredients to journaling. I wouldn't journal in a phone. I wouldn't journal in notion. Journals are quite private. They're private thoughts. They're not on in your mind. And I've found if I try and journal on a laptop or a notion or a notes on iPhone, not only is it distracting and puts you back in that world you want to take a break from. But it's also risky. It's maybe things you don't want being online that are in your journal.
In which case, pen and paper, the good old fashioned way is our friend. I have two journals. I run through them fairly consistently. I have a larger journal. And I have a smaller journal. And I have a nice pen, Mont Blanc pen. Which signifies to me the importance of my ideas. And that they create everything in our lives. The way we think, our mind, our ideas are truly powerful. This is a way of nurturing that. So I take two books because the small one, if you don't carry a phone as much, I've stopped carrying my phone most of the day in my life. You can have a lot of ideas that start coming to you when you're not distracted. And it's good to have a small book that you can write them in. You can fit in your pocket. Which I use a field notes book. Then I have my longer journal. And this is where I do my three pages writing tasks. So at the start of each day to begin,
I wake up and the first thing I do is grab a book that I'm reading. My two journals, a pen. And I go to a coffee shop down the end of the road, about 15 minute walk. On that walk, I usually start getting ideas. When you don't let the world in at the start of the day, you start to have a lot of ideas. Journaling helps you. Put those ideas together. Make them make sense and make them valuable. And also get to grips with how you feel on any given day. So you can do that, you can wake up and you can sit down at a desk or you can go for a walk to a coffee shop and spend 30 minutes reading and journaling in your morning. It will give you more peace than you've felt in a long time. Do not look at the phone. How I journal is I will normally start to jot down a few ideas on the way to get coffee. I'll jot some things down in this book. I'll start pondering things, how I'm feeling on that particular day. And I will write anything and everything for roughly three pages. So three pages, morning writing task.
It's in the book The Artist Wave by Julia Cameron. And this opens up insane amounts of creativity. It allows you to handle your emotions. So a walk and I'll write my three pages when I arrive at the coffee shop. I'll normally begin and how you can begin is with whatever's in your mind. If you're overwhelmed by what's coming in the day, then write down a small plan for the day. Write down everything that's bothering you. If there's a feeling that you can't get rid of or something you're mulling over from the day before, maybe someone spoke to you in a certain way and you can't get it out your head or something's concerning you or you've got financial worries. Your journal is your best friend. It's where you write these things down. Because as soon as they're out of your mind, normally on the first page. If you feel dark in the mornings, journal get the darkness onto the page. Whatever's in your head can be anything at all. Just sit there and write. If you don't know what to write, observe your surroundings. Observe the way you feel. Observe what's going on in the world.
But just write. Because as you write, you'll find the magic of ideas coming to you and flowing through you. Just something you'll learn. You'll find creative ideas. Star Wars, the Mandalorian and Grogu is now streaming on Disney Plus. What are you waiting for? Hop on. The must-see galactic adventure comes home on Disney Plus. This is the way. Step into a local Crocs store and step into your new look. Try it. Style it. Make it yours. Because the right pair doesn't just show up. It shows off. First day fits. Handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest Crocs store today. It's in these pages. But on that first page you put down your worries, your troubles. When you zoom out and you look at your worries and your troubles on a journal page, they don't seem so big. They don't seem so scary and your mind stops playing tricks on you. Then by page number two, you can usually start to make a plan to cut through these troubles, to start working on them. And one of the ways I do this, there's five questions. You can write these down now. And if you've never journal before and you don't know how to do it, you don't know what to write, simply start by asking yourself these five questions. And they will help with clarity in your life.
Where am I standing in my own way? Between getting what I want and what I have now? Where am I standing in my own way? Everything you need is inside of yourself. Everything you want in life can be achieved. If you get out of your own way, find out where have I locked myself in my own prison? Where am I holding myself back? Where am I standing in my own way? The next one I'd really love to use, if you're feeling overwhelmed with a big goal or a big vision or dream or entrepreneurship or having too much on it. What's the smallest step I can take towards a big thing today? Momentum is what leads us into success. Small, consistent momentum. Journaling provides you a place to recent yourself. Find the smallest thing, write everything down. Find the smallest thing you can start on and begin. And that little bit of momentum of beginning gets you onto the next step, which is like, oh, maybe I feel good enough to write another page or another word
or do another task. And you fix that little small thing, it goes onto another one and another one. That's how we rebuild ourselves each and every day. Even when we feel absolutely terrible, what's the absolute, if you feel super depressed, it's the smallest thing you can do. All right, I'll get up, I'll shower and I'll make my bed. And you've done that? Okay, maybe I'll have a coffee now and I'll go for a walk. Okay, I feel pretty good. Maybe I'll write a page in my journal. Yeah, I'm getting some of my ideas out and getting some of my problems out onto a page. Maybe I could think of a little plan to fix those problems. And then you start to fix your life. That's why journaling is, in my opinion, the most important habit. Because it gives you self awareness of the things you need to change. It gives you a way to track your emotions and your feelings. It's not the first time you've been in this situation. If you feel bad right now, I've found through journaling great clarity of seeing that my problems were repeated and also finding out what was causing them. I would notice through journaling that, some days I would wake up with a dark cloud, feeling unworthy, feeling terrible.
And I would track back in my journal and say, what, okay, what was I doing yesterday? You've had three hours sleep. No wonder you don't feel good. Oh, I messed up and I partied on this day. Why was that? Oh, the two days before that, you had no sleep and you felt overwhelmed. And then you partied and you got yourself into a hole. Journaling allows you self awareness. Self awareness is one of the key skills to becoming successful as you can actually control your mind and yourself. The next question is, what's the harder choice that I'm avoiding? What are you putting off right now in your life that would make the difference? Because they're the things we have to focus on. Journaling will help you find those critical tasks and start making real steps. If you're upset and angry or depressed, why? Why do you feel this way? Trace it through to your diet. The people you're around. Things people have said to you. In a feelings of unfulfillment because you're not doing the things you said you would do.
Find out what they are. Another one I love to do is, what blessings do I have right now? It's very difficult to welcome new things into your life. Very difficult to amass more or to feel wealthier or to actually be wealthier unless you appreciate what you already have. There's so much to be thankful for. Whenever you're sick, the only thing you want to be is well again. That's literally all you want. But the days you're well, you don't even care that you're not sick. And that's really a human condition. It's one of our greatest problems. It's never feeling like we have enough. If you can solve that problem not only where you feel so much happier and clearer, you'll defend against fear. You cannot be scared when you're grateful. You cannot feel unhappy when you're grateful. It's your biggest defense. And it brings you into a state of abundance. And I do that through journey. What blessings do I have? Man, I'm not sick. I've got two arms and two legs.
I absolutely love what I do for a living. The sun is shining. I live in a beautiful house. And I can only tell you this because I've been super happy with nothing. And that was what led me to having more. Let go of that habit and wanted more and more and been super unhappy making the most money I've ever made in the past. And that's because our reality is just constructed by our mind, journaling as a way of controlling that mind. And gratitude is a massive part of achieving more. Of having more, you have to be happy where you are now. Once you're happy and fulfilled by that, you go into a vibration of abundance and you can attract more into your life. The next question is, do I rule my fears or do they rule me? If you're ruled by fear, you won't do your best work. I broke one of my rules today when I was making this video.
And I had to remind myself of this question. I have a rule and people that are in icon blueprint, my personal branding programmer in New Elite, my private network, or even people that have watched this channel, will have heard me say, what? Propel Fitness Water With Gatorade Electrolites, Zero Sugar, and Vitamins, propel hydrates better than water to help you get the most out of your workout and get back to your best self. What propels you? Propel with Gatorade Electrolites. Collast it up with Crocs.
You know back to school is coming in fast, so why wait to find your new faith footwear? Step into a local Crocs store and step into your new life. Look, try it, style it, make it yours, because the right pair doesn't just show up. It shows off. First day fits, handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest Crocs store today. I'm Take Tony. I'm one take Tony. You press record one time, you don't turn it off, and you just sold your through. Now the fear of failure, the fear of imperfection, the fear of embarrassment, is what a lot of people struggle with. This one I struggle with, you know, wants to fail, right? So I filmed this a couple of times, and then I went and pressed the button, which is one of my rules, and so thought, oh, I can do it better, rather than just flowing with the moment. And I noticed the reason why I was, because fear was ruling me. I was fear in getting it wrong, but you can't get creation wrong.
You can't get it wrong. It's just my idea. It's just a video I want to make. It's not a big deal. So I told myself that, I will not let fear rule meet. I will make this video the way I want it to be made. I will just talk. And I will give my best. And that's all you can do. So is fear ruling you? Is the fear of failure of imperfection? Are they ruling your life? Are they stopping you to do the things that you really want to do? And finally, how will today's difficulty reveal my character? Through journaling, we become aware that days will be difficult. Things will be hard. And what's important about those hard days is that we view them as tests. That we wanted to show that we could play on the grand field. That we could play in the arena. That we're righteous and we're, we have the ability to be here. Difficulty allows you to prove yourself. Difficult situations, holding your temper, doing the right thing,
being tested. All of these things just allow you to prove to yourself to your soul, to the people around you, what you're made of. And if you're facing great difficulty in your life, you must find a way to allow those challenges to become positive, to allow them to be the showing of your character. So to round up this video, I recommend you journal. You can journal whenever you want, but I think starting your day with it before you look at your phone will truly change your life. I would get out of the house. I would walk to just warm up the mind. I would buy a small notebook and a slightly bigger one. I would keep this with you all the time and jot down your many ideas and little things that pop into your head. And I would sit down and I would ask yourself these questions that we've just gone through. And I would write them across three pages. I would write whatever you need. And I would use this as a tool to track your life
and gradually improve. That's what I've used it for. That's what it's given me peace with. It's given me endless creative ideas. It's given me mastery over my own mind. And it's that therapist or counselor that you might need if you're a man or an entrepreneur that feels he can't speak to anyone. I know how that feels to not feel like you can be weak around other people. Your journal is the place where you can be weak in front of yourself and then be your own therapist and rebuild your life. It is a massively important part of becoming successful. And it has helped me a lot. So hopefully that helps you as well. It's been an absolute pleasure. Go forth and journal. And I'll see you guys on the next one. WAPAR! WAPAR!
