A Los Angeles jury says meta and Google were negligent
in failing to warn kids and parents about the dangers
of their platforms in a case that could change
the social media landscape.
Jurors cited today with a woman who
sued Instagram's parent company meta and YouTube's
parent company, Google.
She was awarded $3 million after claiming the company's
designed their platforms to get her hooked as a child,
leading to depression and suicidal thoughts into adulthood.
The White House says Iran is still engaged in peace talks
and is looking for an off ramp to end the war.
Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said today that since the US
has taken out Iran's military, it's clear to them
that now is the time to talk.
President Trump expressed optimism yesterday
that the war would end soon with the ongoing talks.
The White House is pointing the finger of Democrats
as the partial government shutdown drags on.
Democrats rejected a Republican proposal
to reopen the Department of Homeland Security
with only partial funding for ICE,
and instead offered a counter-repuposal today.

As the TSA staffing crisis continues,
at the urging of Trump, ICE agents were deployed
at a number of airports this week to assist with security.
Legislation to cap the monthly cost of insulin
for patients on private insurance is being proposed
by a group of bipartisan lawmakers in Congress.
The bill would limit at-a-pocket costs for diabetics
by waving any deductibles and limit cost sharing
to $35 or 25% of the list price per month.
If signed, the bill would go into effect
at the beginning of next year.

it's been unbearable, dealing with the disappearance
of her mother Nancy.
I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night.
And in the darkness, I imagine her terror.
She sat down for an interview on today with Hota Kotby,
which will air Thursday and Friday.
It's her first interview since her 84-year-old mother
disappeared from her southern areas on a home.
She was reported missing on February 1st.
No suspects have been identified,
and the family is offering a $1 million reward.

and someone needs to do the right thing.
A jury in New Mexico says met a fail to safeguard its Facebook
and Instagram apps from online predators targeting kids.
Yesterday's ruling follows weeks of testimony
that pitted the state against the social media giant
in a civil case that could impact several similar cases
Meta must now pay $375 million in damages
for violating New Mexico's unfair practices act.
Meta says it will appeal the ruling.
Open AI is shutting down the generative AI video creation
platform Sora, Jim Roop reports.
The announcement comes just three months after Disney
needs a lucrative deal with open AI,
allowing users to generate videos with a set of more than 200
characters from Disney Marvel Pixar and Star Wars films.
Disney also planned to make a $1 billion equity investment
Open AI says more details will come soon,
including timelines for the shutdown of the app.
