The Legend of Korra Book 3 - Episode 6 "Old Wounds" Commentary and Discussion

Flamio, everyone. Thank you for tuning in to Elemental Legends. I am at you.

I'm Jonathan. And last week, we saw the frickin' video, so that's probably one of my favorite

episodes of Cora. Yeah, I mind too. In general, just full stop, just because I mean, the

city's cool, new characters, new characters that are really cool as well. Old

characters coming back. Yeah, we see, say, here, Infiltrate, the air temple, islands,

and cuz it kaya versus the here, which had no reason being a... Yeah, it's for

not me to be go as hard as it did. It was cool. But it did, and we appreciate it. Yeah,

all around this light last week was great. And now we're still in Zalphoo, so we'll see

what unfolds. Yeah. And where's the here, a wet left after you got the glider? Yeah, we

can see what happens next, so... Yeah, discuss what happened. Yeah. All right, so 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

You messed up. You messed up. You messed up. All right. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Okay. So, my

thing, it had skip intro up. I'm watching this on streaming just to be able to easily

like pop it in every week, and it said skip intro, and I accidentally hit it. We're back,

where we're showing, hanging, guy, Kora, and, yeah, you know, title page, and here we go.

One by fall, and now it's our sister. It's not like that. Opal. Opal school.

It's, it is nice to see wind back, just kind of hyperactivity matter. Yeah, yeah.

Nasty, she was barely in book 2, whenever she was there, she was out of character, just didn't

matter. Oh, there's cities, it's so pretty too, just outside of it, but then you have the

metal parts and it's just the main, all around amazing. I mean, yeah, she was pretty scummy,

no, yes, she was. It's the twins. Wing and way. Wing and where?

I've no idea to tell them part though. No, it's in the art book, but yes, not that one.

I saw these there though. Oh, yeah, I saw these there. She's been there all season is great.

I mean, you know, I want more, but, you know, I'll take this.

That was the first kind of dig we've seen from, from Sue, because she, she was completely nice

the whole time, but then she was like, and now that she's not here. Yeah, it wouldn't be a horrible

teacher. I'm going to throw some shame at wind. Yeah. I mean, that was pretty minor in

preparing everything we did in the last episode, but yeah, but it was just like, okay, it was just

kind of one of things where it's like, I need to say that. Oh,

somebody invented something. That was my first fall at when I saw this. I was like,

somebody must have invented something that's pulling on this. It's very, my first fall was like,

it could be, it could be like her. I can't remember his name, but Sue's husband.

Oh, yeah, because they talk about like, and I think she'd be said to you that he's a mentor,

and they all like, you know, yeah, but very excited. They're craft, but as the very ex-back was

Julie. I like these guard right here, like random guard dialogue, as we hear a lot in amateur.

Yeah, it's his guard's talking. And like, how many pushups did you do last night? I did like 50.

For that dude, as well, I weigh. So you're going to say who walks around barefoot, but that's his

thing because he detects people's vibrations.

When is stressed?

My way has like an earring that connects your nose. Yeah, it's weird, but it's kind of cool at

the same time. It's just weird. I've never seen that even in anyone in real life.

Yeah.

Ooh, this is neat. It's back in the public city. We see the spirit wilds.

Because we kind of moved on from that plot line early on. They're in this like abandoned building.

I guess they got taken over by the spirit vines.

It's pretty cool. They're just hanging out in those spirit vines.

I mean, it seems like a good place to hide because it feels like nobody would really come.

Yeah, that abandoned part. But I did kind of not forget about this, but it was one of those

where it's like, we haven't really been in a public city since the first episode. Yeah,

so it also they talked about taking out the president while they were there.

And they said, no, we have other plans. So I mean, there would be those been managers taking,

I don't know. We don't really know their plan.

Unless you just want to. Yeah, we don't really know their plan yet, so.

But we'll keep that in mind.

These things just levitating creep me out. I was like, I don't know. Yeah, I was thinking

on my manbird or someone. If somebody's afraid of needles watching this watching this and not

just not have any reactions or people like, yeah, someone really freaked out by needles just

watching this episode. They're like slowly coming down this whole like 10 seconds.

Yeah, right in your arm.

I've never not actually punctured, but I don't know if I would let it.

Ain't gonna do it now. No, I mean,

I don't know if actually puncture actually has any actual benefits or some sort of therapy

about. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I've never looked at

young young Lynn and young Sue and young Sue is voiced by the voice of tough.

I recognize that because I heard her voice sounds like that's tough. Yeah.

They were the two dudes. She's just hanging out with two random dudes.

Someone in her public city, maybe like, toughs home or their home.

Because Sue's still fairly young. Like, Lynn's probably like 18.

Maybe they just lived together like, uh, or really good. Yeah, they could.

But Sue is probably more like 15, 14, 15. I don't know. She might not be that much younger.

They may not. We don't really know their age difference.

This is kind of cool. It's like a meteorite correlate collection.

Yeah. Obviously, we know tough was made that of the meteorite sorting in it.

Maybe she passed that on. This kind of reminds me of that episode.

Know how tough it's making the shapes. Yeah.

It's freaking cool. Space Earth.

It's such a pretty place and it's going to bring us mad.

Cool story. Bull then. Like, where are you earlier?

I've always wondered, is it like, could any earthbinder learn metal?

I would think so because it's like, well, I mean, earth is in metal. It's not like a gift, you know.

Well, I think it's kind of like waterbenders learning bloodbending.

If you know how to do it, you should be able to do it.

Well, for me, I feel like it's just a higher level skill.

Yeah. So it's like, I guess, everybody is, I mean, you would have to have the right training

to be able to do it. Yeah. Like, it would take time, like, take time. Yeah.

But you should be able to do your average earthbinder just wouldn't be able to just do it.

It would just take a lot of training. If you have watched a training or if you're

very skilled, it's very intricate.

More flashbacks. This is cool, kind of like, older streets of Republic City.

And the old police cars too. Yeah. Older before the men's probably.

They're like in the little, um, the little vuggies. Yeah.

Is this pre-sata? Um, yes. Probably because lens vary.

The metal cables are so great for this. They're so pretty cool.

That's how she does. That's one thing that's interesting because her scars are often not

not talked about. You kind of just see him from the beginning, but you don't really think about it.

it's basically like shooting missiles. And then the lava, like,

the lava is all of it's OP.

Because what you're going to do against the lava, like, you can't drive over that.

This area looks so cool. Wait, we say that about everything, but everything we see.

So it's probably hurt because if they know the grandparents, then

because last, I'd say like Sioux said, we never knew our fathers, like who they were.

So apparently Sioux and Toth had already reconciled.

the Sioux is a different person because if you look at the wife, she's built.

like, I mean, they haven't seen each other and I don't know how long,

so, I mean, I mean, she doesn't like the young person involved with the tribes anymore.

She's got a family.

Yeah, so her wife seems pretty normal.

She, I mean, it makes sense that she's a different person.

Lynn's just upset.

Well, she's thinking she's standing up for her mom, but also, you know,

everything she's, she went through.

Yeah, I mean, it's a lot of anger, viciously.

Yeah, that's been bubbling over the past,

probably, possibly decades.

I don't know, but there's also, sometimes you feel like it's like,

guys, you're not children.

Any kind of city with earthbenders is like it's not difficult for them to just do stuff.

We're in a water tribe with snow and ice.

She was saying how her time when she was able to get away, she learned a lot, changed her life around because if that didn't happen, then she knows where she would be.

It's like another cool episode with the earth people with the metal people, the metal people, the metal plan. Yeah.

We saw something that I think that's the biggest thing we get here is like we see some more about.

We see soos past lens past and off some tough. Yeah.

So they kind of follow up. It's kind of just completing that.

A lot of sister. I mean, Sue is obviously the kind of I'm not so Lynn is kind of the tough one who wanted to be like her mom is police. Yeah, I felt like kind of stuff.

Sue was just sort of like a juvenile delinquent.

And she was she was the rebel.

Yeah.

Yeah. And then they just.

I've seen those big.

People.

But it heads, but they also became more strange just because like Sue got in trouble and taught was like, listen, you gotta just get out of town.

Because she wanted to cover her own, but.

Yeah.

And then toss.

Even though I don't necessarily think it would be that big a deal, but.

Um, then talk about it. So retired.

And Lynn kind of held that in.

We're like, look what you made mom do the whole time.

I guess.

I like to know how I mean, I guess they hadn't seen each other since.

I don't know if it had been that long.

No one actually know because Lynn knew she was in Zalphoo.

I mean, they would have had to have some kind of correspondence or something.

Yeah, because it's clearly been.

I mean, years.

I think Lynn and Tencent are about the same age of 50.

And they looked about she looked about 18 or so.

I don't know.

It's been at least since one of years or so.

So yeah, I don't.

They've honestly had some kind of awareness.

Lynn knew where she was.

So I definitely want to see more of them, you know.

There's still a lot of like after what we don't know.

Or even tough like, I mean, what would it talk to do?

It's still up in there because last episode, they said she used to visit Zalphoo from time to time.

And Sue said that she had met with her mom, you know, and reconciled.

But then they said she left in search of enlightenment, which is interesting.

And like, what's changed in tough?

What is she doing in the world?

But, you know, you know, it's kind of like top and like, I'm off.

Yeah, I'm sorry that we don't actually have to.

I don't feel like too much necessary happens in this episode.

A little bit of backstory.

Yeah.

Well, he sees it here in the game.

You know, they escaped sort of in the last episode from Air Temple Island.

Yeah.

And they were all just hanging out because we speculate are they all come here?

Yeah.

What was their plan?

They all need to come here?

Yeah.

I mean, we still don't really know exactly what their goal is or their endgame or what motivates them?

Yeah.

Well, they're past.

We don't know anything about them.

They weren't hanging out in the spirit vines.

Yeah.

I guess it was kind of cool to see a bit of a publicity again because we've kind of gone away from it.

Yeah, the first episode.

That was like the spirit vines and everything.

The city.

That was the main plot.

Yeah.

And we kind of just forgot about it.

We haven't seen that since.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And they were there too.

But they got out of the city.

And somehow is here knows where they are.

Yep.

He was meditating.

Yeah.

Don't know.

I mean, if he can meditate and figure out where they are, why did he go to Air Temple Island to begin with?

Maybe that's the reason.

Like, I mean, maybe he just thought that's where core is going to be anyway.

Like, you know, because if I don't know how he's I don't know how he figured out that's where they were.

But if he.

If he can figure that out, there would be no need to go there while unless he like he would.

Unless he was like, I'm going to go get me a staff when he was like, I need to take.

I need to find out something about because he took a little bit of interesting because he is just like,

it seemed like he was there for core about the same time.

He specifically and went into the tens and study which picked up that lahima pen.

He looked around a little bit staffed like it was one of those things where it was like, was he really.

I mean, I guess we now know that they all went there.

So it does kind of, you know, makes me wonder exactly what he would tend to do there because either.

I mean, you know, we sort of think, oh, he's just trying to, he's trying to figure out where core is or maybe he thinks core is going to be there or when to come there.

But that obviously doesn't happen.

But he also seems to have the ability to be able to be able to locate them anyway.

So if he was able to do that, I don't know why he would go there and why he's trying to get something there.

Yeah.

If that would have, I mean,

you know, maybe he got it because he got the little guru lahima thing.

So I don't know if that matters.

Is it like some relic?

Yes, and if he picked it up and like said, like some of the teachings or some things.

Is it like some relic that has like some super awesome powerful connection or it's like it's useful for something.

I don't know.

But so I don't know what's going to happen next, but they're still hanging out in Zalphoo.

I don't know how long they're necessarily going to be there.

We know Opal's going to leave.

So I guess that means that they're probably thinking it's about time for, you know, I guess I guess they went there for that airbender.

Yeah, I guess they'll be leaving soon and Opal will go with them.

Does that mean that here in the gang are going to freaking attack Zalphoo after they leave or before they leave?

I don't know.

Probably what's going to happen is they're going to leave and then he's going to attack.

But I mean, I know they're all powerful, but they ain't going so low of freaking metal city.

Yeah.

I mean, with Sue the guard, literally this city has like those domes around it.

So air you don't do anything against what's going to happen with like.

I definitely want to be learning more about.

Is it here in all of them?

Yeah.

Like they're they're passed in hell because we don't we've gotten them together, but we still don't know much about them.

So I'm curious to see what's going on there is we should be getting some of that some time soon.

Also, what's Zuko doing?

Yeah, we haven't seen them since like episode four.

Yeah, because they were there when they busted down rocker when they busted out.

So I want to know off.

I want to know what Eska does not talk about because what are they all doing?

So yeah, because I mean, these are apparently like, I mean, they're big time criminals on the loose in the world.

You would think that it would be like they're probably tracking them.

How are keep somewhat trying to keep track?

Because obviously you would think the water tried the fire nation.

They would have diplomatic channels open with the earth kingdom with your public city.

Yeah, you know, you would think they would have that kind of stuff open being like, hey, these really bad people got out.

So I don't know, I guess we'll find out pretty soon.

So I don't really anything else.

Not really because there wasn't too much to talk about.

Mostly because it was, it was more simple, like it was all back stories.

Pretty simple, pretty simple episode really.

Yeah, but I'm really liking the season.

So excited to keep going.

You said the next one is kind of not filler, but yeah, I don't think there will be that much to discuss.

So I think it's good to.

Okay. So in any way around the around the mid season points, we've been mixing in the comics.

So next time we're going to do the next episode of Cora and we're also discuss North and South the next.

Is it the fourth? That's the fifth one. It's the fifth.

So that would be cool because I'm assuming it just means water stuff because we have not had any soccer and guitar stories through four of them really all.

And we've been talking about that specifically in the last two comic reviews.

We're like, they have a focus on them at all.

Like that's all that's all new material for me.

I don't, you know, so it's.

This is.

I'm really enjoying the stories we've gotten there so far.

So yeah, that'll become the next time.

And plus we also with this snow and everything we missed a couple of week or two as well.

That'll be sort of all the best.

Just stay on track with things.

And I don't want anyone to take a week off of this season either because I'm liking this season.

Yeah, it also keep the momentum going because it's.

Yeah, this season has been.

Like definitely better than last season.

I'm enjoying it on all of like a whole lot.

It's different from season one.

I mean, the season one is base.

Cora just sort of establishing things, but the season's been awesome.

So I definitely am excited to keep going.
