The Moment: Sean Highdale - surviving a coma and making it to the Paralympics

The Red Agenda will be back next week but in the meantime we wanted to give you a taste of a new series from The Athletic 'The Moment with Kelly Cates and Geoff Thomas'

Kelly and Geoff are joined by former Liverpool academy player Sean Highdale who as a 17-year-old looked set to follow in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher into the first team, but in 2008 a car crash changed everything, sending him into a coma and killing two of his friends.

This is the story of his journey back from life threatening injuries including a broken neck, a shattered knee and a kidney removal, to once again playing football as a professional and how in 2016 he unexpectedly found himself representing Paralympics GB at the 2016 games in Rio.
