5:54Just listen to what I'm seeing, okay? Let me make sure I got the exact location where you're at, okay? Just one minute. On April 27, 2024, the life of Micah Miller, a 30-year-old woman from Mertle Beach, South Carolina, ended at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina. authorities later ruled her death as suicide saying she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. But the official ruling did not quiet the question surrounding her final days.

6:56Instead, Micah's death became the center of national attention, public protest, legal battles, and a growing conversation about domestic abuse, coercive control, stalking, and the invisible forms of violence that can exist behind closed doors. On August 26, 2026, today, more than two years after her death, her case has reached a global audience through the Netflix docu-series death of a pastor's wife, a three-part investigation into Micah's life, her marriage, the allegations surrounding her estranged husband, and the circumstances that led to her final moments. Now, at the center of the case was Micah's estranged husband, pastor John Paul Miller, known by many as JP, the pastor of solid rock church and Mertle Beach.

8:01To some, he was a church leader, a husband, and a father. But to Micah's family and her supporters, he became the face of a much darker story, one involving allegations of stalking, intimidation, emotional abuse, financial control, harassment, and coercive behavior that they believe contributed to Micah's death. John Paul Miller has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has maintained that he had no responsibility for Micah's death. But the questions surrounding their relationship did not end with her funeral. They followed him into federal court, where he was later indicted on charges of cyber-stocking and making false statements to investigators. His federal trial is set for this October. Today, we will take a look at Micah's life and we'll take a look at what her family

9:05and her supporters are saying we should be looking at and examining what led up to this terrible tragedy. Micah Miller, her maiden name was Micah Francis, was born on March 7, 1994 in Wichita, Kansas to Micah, France and Angelita Ramirez. She later lived in Mertle Beach, South Carolina, where she became deeply involved in the church community of solid rock church. Her obituary describes her as energetic, affirming, adventurous, faithful, loving, giving, talented, joyous, creative, assertive, bold, determined, authoritative, passionate, hardworking, and a risk-taker. Those words painted a picture of someone vivid and alive, someone who gave herself fully to the people and communities around her.

10:06And please remind me here, Captain, to circle back to her official obituary as we proceed through this story. Well, there are so much personal videos in the documentary so you can see that description right in front of your face while you're watching this three-part series. Micah was survived by her husband. I mean, he's still technically her husband at the time of her death, pastor John Paul Miller of Mertle Beach, South Carolina, her five-step children. So this would be his children from a previous marriage, one brother and four sisters. And they held a celebration of Micah's life. That celebration took place May 5, 2024 at Solid Rock Church in Mertle Beach. And for those not familiar with this story, that would seem like it would make a lot of sense to have a wonderful celebration for this young woman who passed way too early at

11:10the church that she spent so much of her time. But to those who do know this story, it was very odd. Yes. And her supporters, her family, they did not attend. Some of them chose not to attend. And it's because of things that they question. It's because of pastor John Paul Miller who is, as we said, running. He does, he seemed to control everything at the Solid Rock Church. And it seems to be because they were still married, regardless of what was going on in that relationship, regardless of who he is. And we're going to get into a lot of that. People controlling her after death by hosting the celebration at the church because everything I can see, every indicator, every action taking place, she's trying to get away from him. And unfortunately for her, that meant getting away from the church that she loved as well.

12:11And so this is just another way to control even after death. And as said, there's a lot of people, a lot of members of this community, a lot of members of the church, of course, came together. They gathered together there at Solid Rock Church to remember her. Many of her family and friends and people that knew her best chose not to attend. And that's heartbreaking in itself. But they chose not to attend because, look, it wasn't the right venue. Plain and simple. Plain and simple because there were questions around her death that were spreading immediately from the time that it was announced that she had passed still ongoing when this celebration was held just days later. For Micah's family, her death was not simply the loss of a beloved sister, a beloved daughter. It became a call to speak publicly about what they believed that she had gone through. From the outside, I'm sure there are a lot of people that would say, and it probably

13:14looked this way, especially early on in the relationship. From the outside, Micah and John Paul Miller appeared to have a life built around faith, ministry, and church leadership. John Paul led Solid Rock Church. And Micah was not merely a pastor's wife. She served as the church's creative director. She was involved in worship, youth ministry, women's ministry, and administrative work. She also worked closely with John Paul as his personal assistant. That was one of her many titles that she held within that church. But according to Micah's family, friends, and later her attorney, the public image of their marriage did not reflect what was happening privately. Micah had known John Paul for years before they were married. Her family had relocated to Myrtle Beach, and they became regulars at Solid Rock Church. This is when Micah was still very young. Yeah, I believe she was 13 at the time.

14:16John Paul, he's much older than her, and he was already married and a father at that time. Yeah. Micah worked as his nanny eventually, and according to court filings and statements from family members, the relationship between Micah and John Paul became romantic while they both were still married to other people. Micah got married pretty young, and she got married to another member of the church. I believe he proposed at the church, and then they were married by pastor John Paul in a ceremony. So they were both married, and then he gave her all these different roles, not just in his life, but roles in the church, and then that led to a fair. And I would argue, if you're meeting this individual at 13, I wonder if the word grooming should have came up more often. I think you're spot on there, and we're going to hear that from her family as well.

15:17So Micah first married a guy named Jeremy D's. John Paul was married to a woman named Alice in Williams. According to Micah's family, Micah and John Paul began an affair when Micah was 20 and John Paul was 35, about a 15 year age gap. Eventually both divorced their respective spouses. Micah and John Paul married on November 7, 2017 when Micah was 23 and John Paul was 38. And of course, we don't see this in all marriages, but here we have their 15 year age difference is a concern, and that was expressed from Micah's family. But those closest to Micah say that the age gap was not the only issue. They believe John Paul had held spiritual and social authority over Micah. Micah had grown up within the church environment, had dedicated much of her life to it, and that's

16:21something that you see time and time again from the start of the docu series through the end. Yeah. And she spent, as the captain said, many of her formative years around this John Paul and his congregation. Micah's sister, Sierra Francis, later alleged that she believed John Paul had set his sights on Micah when she was young and that he had groomed her. Micah's father, Michael Francis also said that the family had never supported the relationship. Well, if you look at John Paul's first wife, she looks very similar to Micah. Yeah. And so it's almost like, oh, well, I'll trade my wife in for a younger version. I also think it was a way to, hey, I screwed up. I had a affair. But if I have a relationship with this person, if I marry this person, then maybe my congregation will say, hey, he fell in love and what is he supposed to do?

17:24And we're going to support him. Yeah. I'm glad that you pointed that out about appearance because that was a bit of a shocker to me when I was watching the first episode was I had read about this case and seen pictures in different online articles and such. I don't believe I had ever seen any pictures of his first wife, Alison, or Ali, as she's often called. And when they, when I first spotted a picture of him with her with his first wife, Alison, I just thought it was a picture of Micah. And I mean, there's there similarities there, obviously, regardless of the concerns. And here's the difficult thing to sit here in 2026 and analyze some of this. I don't know how loud and how present those concerns were back then, right? Back in the day because it all seems so obvious now. But the family is saying that we had concerns how vocal they were.

18:28It I don't know. It's hard for me to judge, but regardless of those concerns, what's obvious is Micah becomes deeply embedded in John Paul's world. I don't know if there is a such thing as a perfect marriage, but I don't know. This one, this one's definitely not perfect. No. And even if it continued to look perfect to this day and Micah was still here, I would have my concerns would be maybe, maybe it's my own personality that is flawed here. But it just seems like, I mean, they, they live together. They're married. They work together. They go to church together. It's a lot of together. And this man is clearly a very possessive individual. Right. And on top of that, though, there's, he is given sermons. He is part of his job description would be to help direct people in their life. And so not only is he directing his church, but he's essentially directing his wife.

19:30And I don't think that's a role you necessarily want to be involved with. No. And so he's got authority as a pastor clearly didn't stop when he got off of the stage. Right. His authority as a pastor was clear that that was a part of their marriage that he held that authority over her. Now what I was, what I was shocked at is we didn't hear, unless I blinked for too long cat, then we didn't hear from Alice and Williams his first wife to see if there was any of that behavior in their relationship given his personality and the things that I think I was picking up on during the course of the documentary and what we know about him from the news. I would be shocked if that wasn't a part of their marriage, but this seems very different. Right. It seems a little different in the sense that look, when he stood up there at the pulpit

20:30to give his sermon, and I think that someone in the documentary stated that he delivered like 630 some sermons. Yeah. And some of them are very bizarre and I've played in, dude, many church bands. And when I would see the way their church has was run, you know, music was very predominant in what they were doing. And I mean, obviously the name of their church would suggest that. But if I was playing in a church and I heard some of these sermons, I would not go back and donate my time and talent to that church. And yes, and this, I mean this in no disrespect to anybody who follows that church or who was a proud member of the church. But to me, the ones that they chose to show in the documentary anyway, right? I mean, because we should, we need to acknowledge that we are seeing a small snippet when we're

21:36told he delivered over 600 sermons. Yeah. We are really seeing portions and pieces of probably what a dozen, maybe 15 of those. But that dozen or 15 or so all held a very similar theme. And I grew up in the Catholic church. So it was a very boring mass. And I used to enjoy going to other people's churches because they were a little more lively and there seemed to be more about community than what I was raised in. And so I'd gone to plenty of these more modern Christian churches and always enjoyed them and always had a good time going to those different outfits. But from what I saw in the documentary, this guy, his sermons, they talked about sex a lot. And that's something that I don't ever recall being something discussed from the pastor or the priest.

22:37And I mean, it's a lot of it. If you don't tune in for any other reason, tune in for that because I'm with you, Captain, I might not have, I don't think I would have got up and left midway through. But I think it would have been a difficult time to get me to go back. It was off putting. I will say this because I, this is what I believe. If you went to that church and maybe there's one sermon that you went, okay, well, that's a little different. But you don't know what that pastor is trying to help. Maybe he's having a lot of these pastors have counseling sessions with some of their members or maybe they even give marriage counseling. So there could be a reason why he would have a sermon like this. But after one or two sermons that don't really make a lot of sense or seem very controlling towards females, there's your sign to leave. And if you don't leave, then I think that's the sign of your character. And so anybody that is still a part of this church, I feel bad for them because this is

23:38not what anybody should be preaching about. And with all the allegations against him, you should find a better mentor to direct you in your spiritual life. And back to his first wife, Allison Williams, again, they don't, they don't talk about this much in the documentary. But and family court filings, she talks about her concerns about inappropriate sexual relationships with minors and just his sexual behavior in general. We know that marriage ended because he is having a affair with Micah, but I think he was making inappropriate advances towards minors of not just the church, but possibly the church of school. And then also what other affairs was he possibly having? Yes. And as far as the congregation goes, the character overall, the kind of, I don't know that I would say that they're of bad moral character. I would say some within that flock are absolutely, but I think that what we get to see in the

24:44documentary is simply a spotlight put on this one guy. And there are probably a lot of other sticking factors for people that have found themselves. All right. But question for you in that community, if you see something being done wrong and you do nothing about it, what does that say about your character? Well, that's what I'm saying is that some within that flock are of flawed character, are of bad character. Right. What I'm saying to say that as to paint it with a broad brush and say the entire congregation, I don't think it's fair just because we're getting a spotlight putting put on the worst part of that church and getting a heavy dose of that with not getting any of the other stuff, other good parts that came along with that. The marriage to say the least became marked with filings for divorce, legal separations, reconciliation and renewed conflict.

25:45Once this sort of became public or at least known within the church, it seemed to be like a snowball rolling down hill. I just kept growing and growing here. So Micah first files for divorce October 8, 2023, but that's dismissed February 13, 2024. 10 days later, John Paul filed for separation from Micah. Now that filing too was dismissed without prejudice, this on March 12, 2024. But the cycle did not end there. Micah filed for separation for the final time on April 15, 2024. Now a hearing was scheduled for June 5, 2024. By that point, Micah had moved out of the home that she shared with John Paul and was living in an apartment. John Paul was served with the separation papers on April 25, 2024.

26:47And two days later, on April 27, 2024, Micah Miller was dead. So many people are focused on where their money is today. Well one of the best things I think myka did was when she filed for this separation for the last time and she got a great lawyer. She got a tough lawyer that wasn't going to put up with any bullshit and she was able to get myka to sit down and basically document all the allegations that she had against her husband. The lawyer was very impressive from what we got to see I was looking for some bright

31:03spots and that was certainly one of them and her family myka's family impressive like the sisters they won't back down the brother incredible so kudos to them for fighting for their sister. We see this a lot in these documentaries where there's ongoing abuse for a long time and sometimes abuse especially in this relationship especially in this marriage there's a lot of sexual abuse and sexual control and obviously we don't have evidence other than the claims that myka was making but you can see in her friends and her family throughout this documentary which is very heartbreaking that they all question certain actions and should I done this and should I done this or should I have said this and was there a better way for me to be supportive they all were absolute rock stars and being supportive but because she's

32:04not here with us they I think they question that. Well and I went out of my way to defend the congregation but now I'm going to sound like a complete idiot here captain because I just kept thinking I'm like this church if you would have told me that this is some kind of soap opera I would have believed it like in it's in it felt like at least with John Paul and those closest to him that so much about the church and their lives personal and spiritually were about appearance very much about not how things are but how things appear to be after myka's death her sister Sierra Francis submitted an affidavit stating that myka had voiced fears about being followed Sierra said myka had allegedly told her quote if I end up with a bullet in my head it was not by me it was John Paul and quote Sierra also stated that myka had spoken to others including

33:09family members and members of the church congregation about alleged abuse and violence by her husband myka had also saw a restraining order against John Paul in the days before her death well not only was he talking about controlling within side of marriage and I think twisting words spiritual words and passages in order to make it seem okay but he also talked about abuse that he received as a child within side the church and he called it his father's passions but there's a lot of stuff about John Paul Miller's father about grooming and maybe sexual assault and and things of that nature so I think that I think that plays a part in a lot of this hurt people hurt people I think you're absolutely spot on there I think

34:09it does play a factor here play a role in this overall story I again I will defer default back to that whole thing with appearance with him with John Paul Miller how manipulative he is how controlling he is and how often he lies and and stages things yeah it's really hard to I'm not saying that none of that happened because there's other people that seem to back up some some of that but it's it's a it's more speculation and accusation than then hardcore facts so I like hearing from other people and not from him because he is all about appearance and he's all about smoking mirrors right trying to control the situation yeah his his life is an illusionist he his he's like David Copperfield for his entire life don't look at that you know look at this yeah let's go through a

35:10timeline here of some key events for those that are not familiar with the case and I apologize if some of this is repetitive but it's it's a lengthy story and I want to hit some key events on Micah's life timeline here and some of the events that led up to her death and really some of the starts way back in 2006 so that's when John Paul Miller started solid rock ministries okay so that is a huge key event to understand here he's not just the pastor he's not somebody that was hired he's not someone that could be kicked to the curb for his bad behavior which he almost had uncontrollable power within the walls of that church because he started he was the founder of that church he was the leader of that church now back to some of the things that the captains

36:12talking about here that same year his father Reginald Wayne Miller a lot of articles he's referred to simply as Wayne Miller was reportedly arrested for allegedly exposing himself to an undercover officer at a state park one thing that I do like in these documentaries captain I love when they show me the whole piece of paper the whole document and remember they're going with that the whole the whole piece of paper all right I can't talk you you threw me off I was about to say some very I mean he's flashing federal agents I mean he's not he wouldn't be opposed to flashing you and I think there was a lot of infidelity in his father's marriage and I think that infidelity was not just with women but also men and I think that the documentary allegations are that he was paying often for prostitutes for prostitutes and sex workers and also again

37:18some allegations about an appropriateness with minors and I could begin this wrong but what it also seems to imply with everything on the internet and in the documentary it like I said is John Paul given sermons about basically being less advised father he calls it his father couldn't control his passions I don't know if that doesn't look like John Paul Miller his son could control his passions either no and look and there there are certain I apologize to the world and my fellow man here but there are certain types of people that I cannot stand and one of the worst is these speaking of holes a holes that stand up in front of a church and and spout off how wrong and terrible and against God homosexuality is and then as soon as they step off the stage and go behind closed doors they're they're out there doing what they say is a sin and what is so bad

38:24and so wrong this regional Wayne Miller that's what I was talking about with the document anytime these documents the documentaries show you a piece of paper right or the entire document what they like to do is highlight a couple sentences and zoom in on those what I love to do is I get out the old clicker hit pause so I could read the document because usually there's a lot of good information in there that can open up your eyes to different things and sometimes you have to be you have to be careful with when something's presented to you because you were at the mercy of the presenter yes and we've seen plenty of these docu series that will try to sway you one way or another the best ones just simply lay out the story for you and let you walk away and determine what you think happened and who's the guilty party here what I could see on this document about him being charged arrested for exposing himself to an undercover officer at a state park there were also statements in there

39:28that he was attending bath houses and that the undercover officer in this particular incident was a male was a man yeah all right let's zoom forward about six years this is when Micah Miller well Micah Francis then marries Jeremy D's and this is 2012 and 2014 Reginald Wayne Miller pled guilty in federal court to felony charges related to cathedral Bible college including visa fraud and wage and wage violations so these are illegal labor charges right and fraud and things of that nature he's he's running a Bible college and he's charged with committing crimes there and he pled guilty to those in federal court the following year in 2015 according to statements from Micah's family

40:28Micah Francis and John Paul Miller begin a relationship while both were married to other people their relationship was reportedly exposed and John Paul wrote a letter to the church asking for forgiveness March 2016 Allison Williams John Paul's wife at the time allegedly filed a police report saying John Paul was stalking and harassing her by appearing at her work at her new church and at her home November of 2017 John Paul Miller and Micah Francis are married this was a ceremony at the church and remember this was infidelities that were played out in front of the eyes of the congregation leading up to their marriage right November 16th 2022 federal prosecutors later alleged that John Paul's cyber stalking and harassment of his wife Micah began on this date now

41:29that that's interesting and we know it to be true because of a pending court case the pending federal court case involving John Paul Miller but just imagine how weird that situation is for Micah you're already the band leader the music director of the church you're I heavily involved in the church you were the nanny to now kids that you're now the stepmother of it would be a very weird situation yeah and just what five years later um cyber stalked and harassed by this man who who stands before many and claims to be a man of God October 8th 2023 Micah files for divorce from John Paul February 13th 2024 Micah's divorce filing was dismissed now it's my understanding and if I have this wrong go to the blog and let me know how and why and tell us tell us some

42:29better information but it seems like when these when the individuals are filing for divorce that the filings are dismissed at their request yeah so Micah files for divorce and then months later request that it's dismissed but again I think this is somebody using the word of God or spiritual word religious word however you want to word it right no pun intended or pun intended but you see these text messages anytime she's trying to separate herself it's a lot of this is going to be bad for the church this is going to be bad for you nobody's going to want you you're not going to be involved so I'm I'm controlling not just your spiritual journey but everything in your life and then it's constantly also I won't do that ever again and a lot of these filings and I'm sure there's more information that she gave to her lawyer but there's a fairs

45:43they start putting you on certain medications it's trial and error we're going to put you on this for a little bit and we'll see what happens but then people in your life will then use that against you and I think that's what John Paul was using against myka but some bizarre shit when when his wife myka is saying well I'm I'm supposed to serve my husband and if he wants sex four times a day I just have to give him sex and and if she said no because she's tired if she's not in the mood he would try to say well you're not following the law of God I mean to the point where he was I don't know if he came up with this idea or she came up with this idea but at some point she was injecting testosterone thinking that maybe that would ramp up her sexual interest in him yeah that's what I mean this is you know and this is bizarre stuff I told myself I wasn't
