April 3rd, the perfect Mirage. Have you ever seen something that wasn't really there, like a Mirage? A Mirage is nothing more than an optical illusion, but under desperate circumstances it can play into our psychology, like the person who imagines an oasis in the middle of the desert. But bodies of water that seem to appear and disappear, and not the only misconceptions we have to look out for. The belief that perfection can be attained on this Earth is also something of a Mirage, as one woman discovered. Jean experienced what she describes as a storybook romance, and she felt she had the perfect life. But was this true? Could she put all her faith in this perfection? Or was it simply an illusion? Well, I'll let her tell you, as she shares with us her true story.

On this unshackled, daily devotional. I fell in love with my boss at work and dreamed of dating him, but figured I had nothing to attract him. When we did begin dating, he proposed on the second date. A few months later we allowed. Our wedding ceremony before a justice of the peace lasted five minutes and cost fifteen dollars, but the years that followed were happy ones. We had seven children. Every week we listened to the unshackled drama on the radio, but I had no relationship with God, even though we went to church with our children. My mother began talking with me about my lost condition. I was offended. After all, we went to church. I was expecting our eighth baby when my husband complained one Sunday about not feeling well. He thought it was indigestion, so I went to get medicine. He collapsed and died in the hospital of a heart attack. I was devastated. What would I do without him? When our baby's son was born, he also had heart problems, but many prayed for him.

My cousin took me to her church where the good news of God's love and grace transformed my heart. Jesus became my Lord and Savior that day. He also became my security. The husband who helped me raise my children, all of whom now serve the Lord. The Apostle Paul says in Romans 8.22 and 23, for we know that the whole creation grown eth and traveleth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption to wit the redemption of our body. And the truth is, everything in this world has been impacted, groaning, if you will, under sin, including ourselves. We are bound to a temporary existence on this earth, as are the things we hold dear.

But that is why our faith is in the world to come and the person of Jesus Christ. And it is only when we focus on this reality, that we can find perfect peace and security. Will you receive this truth today? Unshackled daily devotionals are built on true life accounts. Each devotional tells a dramatic testimony of transformation of a real person, while addressing a relatable issue of the human condition. A key Bible verse is provided so you can dig deeper into its specific intent and what it means for our lives in these unshackled daily devotionals.
