Welcome in happy players championship Wednesday live chat 3 p.m. Eastern time and I'm on Eastern
time, which is weird to say welcome in this time is mostly yours, a little bit of mind
mostly yours, your questions, your concerns, your answers over the course of the next.
I don't know. I just went to the bathroom. I had my drink here. This could take a while.
I'm currently a few hundred yards from the golf course. I've been out there all week. I just got
back in. That's why I was a couple minutes late took me a little bit longer to get back in
than I thought. It is hot. It is really hot. I'm a baby, but it is hot. Okay. Here is what we are going
to do. Make sure you get your questions, your concerns, your comments in right now and I will go
through them for as long as possible. We are going to do the weather. We're going to do one
and done stuff out of the gate and I'll give you an idea of what I have seen out there on the course.
Let's start with the weather because I think this might be a little bit of a storyline and the
players were talking about it. So there is expected to be a little bit the only really the only
rain in the forecast is tomorrow afternoon. It is about a quarter of an inch over a handful of
hours, two to five p.m. That is actually down a little bit from previous forecast which had this
at anywhere from a third of an inch to a half an inch in that time period. So it is getting
to be less, but it is still in the forecast. The other thing to consider is around noon you are
getting these higher sustained winds kind of 12, 16 miles an hour with the big problem here
two things, the gusts up to 30, 30, 34 miles an hour, but the wind direction change, right? That's
the big thing there that you get Thursday afternoon. Now that does go through the night overnight
into Friday and you are still getting gusts really into the morning and then kind of in the afternoon,
it starts to at least tone down a bit, right? So the sustained winds in the morning tomorrow,
Friday excuse me, are 15 to 13 miles an hour, then you get to the afternoon 7, 8, 9, 10.
Quite honestly the way that it looks at it, as long as it is not a stoppage of play,
it looks like the morning afternoon guys are going to get a lot better conditions.
That's what it seems, assuming this stays flat. So you can see I've got the waves loaded into
the cheat sheet and the custom model on rickranger.com so that you can you can make line-ups with this.
This question comes up a lot when there is kind of a wave advantage expected.
You can, let me see if I have this up here, you can change in your settings how many players
from each wave you would want. So you could say I only want players from AM only that would give you
six or at least four of offers from the AM wave, right? So you can do all that. But it does look like
there is going to be a wave advantage here. That's part one. Part two is one and done. So as of right
now, I'm using the pool genius tool, which mean if we don't have the link to that in description,
can you get it in the description? Because we've got the best discount for this with March Madness
coming up. Like this is the time of year where pool genius is really, really valuable. They give
us up to like 60% off. So I've got a great relationship with that. So right now they're showing
Scotty, Shuffle of Columnwork, Howard, Roy, Macquarie, Ludwig, Oberg, Seaboo, Kim, all as the highest
projected golfers. I think Ludwig is going to be the most popular golfer. I think Seaboo is probably
going to be right there with Scotty. And then Colin, if you haven't used him yet, Colin,
actually might be like the second most popular player. Concerns around, Roy, indeed, some of the
guys getting knocked out because of wind advantages or things like that. But that is my sense of this.
If you want to get into a new, I'll call it a one end though, but it's technically a three and done.
There are about 100, a little fewer than 200 spots left in the player's championship and major
championship pick three and done. So you pick three golfers this week and for each one of the
major championships, 15 golfers overall. Once you pick them, you cannot use them again. And it has
$125,000 guaranteed. Well, I guess you're just, I guess you just saw my picks for the week. 15,000
for first, 12,000 for second, 10,000 for third, so on and so forth and segment payouts. The key note
here is that when they originally created this contest that splash, it was with fantasy scoring.
That was not my intent. That was not their intent. That was a mistake. They have switched it
back to what we, what I've been saying it was, which is what I thought it was, which was every
dollar you get is a point, which is the one and done format. So if you saw this before and you were
like that, it's weird. That doesn't look right. I know. And it has been fixed. So very, very good
there. Let me get you to links or in the description for that. There's also a tears contest for this
week. Same, same as usual. All right. Let me get you to what I've seen out there.
Yesterday, walking the golf course, it became pretty apparent that the rough is very thick.
So much so that many players are saying it is the thickest they have ever seen. And it is quite
thick. Yesterday, there was a very distinct thud when balls were hitting the green surfaces.
And you were getting some pretty high bounces. And even still today, the greens are starting to
brown pretty quickly and get crispy pretty quickly. I mean, the sun is beating on these things
right now. I did have a player who will remain unnamed, say, and I quote, they watered the
shit out of this last night. That was his quote, not mine. And the sense that I got from that
and the conversation that ensued is that they did put water on the greens and they were definitely
softer today. They were softer today. They had a subair. They can do anything they want. It's
going to be windy, a little bit windy. It's going to be hot. Like they're going to get this,
however, they want it to be. But it was maybe it was maybe it was already too spicy on Tuesday,
right? Maybe it was like, we don't need to do this necessarily in the week, right? So it seems
like they did put some water on the greens last night. And you could see that in shots coming in.
But they were still brown, still not like incredibly soft, but like medium, I would say.
And yeah, I think it's, I mean, the course is in fantastic shape. The there's so many hard shots.
You're seeing a lot of players try a lot of different things. You're seeing it's going to be a lot
fun. Let's just get to some of the questions that we have here. Using, okay, Michael says best
strategy for using the extra in a one and done majors, three and done style, love your content
for yours. So this is in the three and done, you pick three golfers and you pick an alternate,
just in case something happens to your one golfer. I don't know if there's a better strategy than
just picking like the fourth person that you like. The way that I did it is I think I went with
Scotty, which is like, hey, if one of my, you know, I like Scotty, obviously, but I think it was
a little bit of a concern. I didn't play him in my main lineup. But like, hey, if one of my guys
goes down, I'm happy to back it up with Scotty, who I think is going to be more popular at the
masters or somewhere else. And like, I'm okay with that. I'm not using it as like a dart throw
or anything like that. I'm trying to find somebody who I feel pretty comfortable with. Do any shot
shapes? Sorry. Are there any shot shapes or targets to avoid? Do the fairway seem conducive to
run out or low ball flight? I would definitely like to hit it a little bit lower off the tee.
You get a little bit of run out. You get, it makes the tee shot on six, no problem. The tee shot
on six is like, literally, you have to go underneath the tree. Or is that seven? Six, I think. You
have to go underneath the tree. It makes that no problem. Like, Saul, Jake, Nat, play through there.
Just like literally don't even know if you knew that tree existed, right? So that's really great.
If you go to, I've got the radar tool up here, which has been updated in the last couple. Oh,
by the way, I've got a brand new showdown cheat sheet that is going to be run through the
ringer this week. This is the first stress test for it. So this allows you to look at ranks and
expectations. And you're going to be able to see that live during the tournament. You can pick any stats
that you want. I mean, this is, this is going to be the first time we've, we've used it.
It can click favorites. You can filter by groups or by nationalities. It's, I think it's going to
be a really good in game tool, but it's going to go through a stress test this week. So hopefully
everything works out. Anyway, this radar tool, what I would like is, you know, some of these guys that
do hit it low off the tee. I think are going to hit some of these fair ways a little bit more.
Like what we saw burger to, which by the way, he's the third lowest apex guy in this field.
What we've seen Russell, Henley do at this golf tournament, what I expect like a Jake nap or
somebody else could do at this golf tournament. I do think it's pretty interesting. The shot
shape thing, I think you have to kind of work it both ways. I think the left or right shot is
probably a little bit better. Moore Cowell works it left to right, Putnam,
Hoey, Matthew Povone, Wyndham Clark, the most. A lot of these guys can do it both ways, but they're
stock shot. Those guys stock shots are left to right. It's just a lot of really uncomfortable shots
off the tee. A lot of shots where, you know, you're not seeing the full picture of, of what's
down there, down the shoot. You're not getting the full picture of, you know, where your ball is
going to land or where it's going to run out. The, the, the, the miss, you know, the angles that
some of the water runs on, you know, the miss, like, like on nine, the more, the more right you go,
which is where you want to go, the shorter it is until you reach the water on 18, the more left you
go, which is the place you want to go. The long grip becomes the carry and it, like, it's just
that kind of stuff pops up in a really, in a really big hurry. So if you asked me to pick, I think
low, low apex left to right players would probably be my favorite. Talked me out of Moorakawa
over Scotty. I mean, Sky's best player in the world. It's not particularly close, but what,
what calm Moorakawa has done over the last three starts is looking like some of the best player
in the world stuff, right? He's, he's been beating everybody on approach by a wide margin. The
putters been good, if not great by his own standards. This is a place that he's had success before.
You're not going to find anybody who has seven top 10s in a row. It doesn't happen here. It's got
some of the lowest stickiness of, of any golf course. You can go to my newsletter from, uh,
that I sent out this morning. You can absolutely free link is in the description. Um, that
it's literally the second lowest correlation to, like, year over year success, the stickiness of
this, of this event. It's because of all the randomness in the shots and going back until, especially
since this is going back to March has been a really, really big crapshoot. So he has a good
history here, considering the fact that you're not going to find anybody with a lot of good history.
Hey, Rick, fourth place in my 12 person wanted done. I've used Colin and Tommy and the leader
hasn't and have to assume he will. Well, what? Oh, use one of those guys. Ludwig will be popular
too. Would it be crazy to pivot to a nap or minwoo probably? You're in a 12 person one and done
and you're already in fourth. You, you probably never need to do anything crazy. Just play Ludwig.
Right. I mean, that's just, I think that's the right play. Let's get the important stuff out of the
way. Whether one and done March madness. Um, yeah, the best, the video that does the best from
me every year is this March madness video. Um, yeah, it'll happen. I'm going to have to do it from
the road, but I've got a plan in place. Uh, the model has gotten a big upgrade. I still haven't
watched the single second of college basketball, but I've worked on the model. And it's kind of sick.
So yes, I don't know when what, so selection Sunday, I usually, I think I do it like late Monday
or early Tuesday, just because you want, you want to see who the everybody else is picking.
Hey, Rick, can you show us how to find the best players for the first two rounds? Yeah. So, uh,
a lot of places to do this, I would go to the Holy Grail. I would go to Torremonts or you can
go to rounds as well. Go to any time frame that you want. I'm just going to do PGA Tor events
since the start of 2025. I'm going to click round one. I'm going to click round two. And then it's
going to, then I'm going to sort by, uh, Sturfs game total. And it's going to show you that it's
Skychefler, Roy Macquarie, Tommy Fleetwood, Ben Griffin, Russell Henley. Now, these are also just
some of the best players in the world. So you have to kind of look at guys that are a little bit
different. Um, Harry Hall is up there. Okshay is up there. Keith Mitchell is up there. Michael
Foburant is up there. Oh, sorry, I'm yawning. It's been such a long weekend. So hot out there.
You could also come into the custom model. And you could do this relative to themselves. So there's
a really good, where do I have it? Um, uh, round one relative to themselves and round two relative
to themselves. So this looks like this gets rid of the fact that like Skychefler is the best player
in the world in all around. So this is just who's plays better than themselves in those rounds.
Ryan Gerard, SH Kim, Jordan Spieth, Ludwig, Harris, English, Michael Foburant's and Jill Damon,
et cetera, et cetera. Patrick can't lay 80, 200, five percent notes. Pete Dijk specials,
how dumb am I for hammering this? You're not dumb. You're just a little bit stupid. No, I, I,
I'm not with you. There's a lot to dislike about this. Uh, the putting hasn't been very good.
The approach plays been erratic. Not a lot of great results. Very little trust.
How do you feel about Sungjae this week? So Sungjae has only played one event since coming
back from the injury, uh, same with Justin Thomas. You can lump lump him together. He missed the
cut and he lost four and a half shots on a project Bay Hill. So I don't feel very comfortable. I'm
going to need to see something out of Sungjae, especially coming back from the injury.
Cudi Blue for me last week. Need to, need to want to dive on more cows. Okay. So here's the thing.
This is the biggest prize purse of the year. So you've got $25 million. You've got a four and a half
million dollars for first. You've got an event that is a very volatile and a wave that might wipe out
half of the field. So, um, I think you have to go out of the morning wave. I think that's reasonable.
And I think that you need to probably not go as deep as Minwoo.
Um, I like more cow a lot. I believe Cam Young and God are up are both in the early or both in
the late wave. I can confirm that.
Hadecki's in the late wave. God erupts in the late wave. Cam Young is in the late wave. So,
seems to me like you are and Minwoo's in the late wave.
Seems to me like you're playing calm more cow. I need to make up ground. I want to done. This is
the last week of segment one. Can you give us? Okay. So if you are trying to make up ground, I,
I don't mind auction. You brought up auction. The lowest I would probably go is I would not mind
Brooks Keppga. Okay. I think it's like the third to fifth best option. I would not mind jake nap.
If you are trying to play makeup, I think I told somebody don't play jake nap earlier,
but it was like a 12 person field, right? And he was in fourth. So I don't mind jake nap for
making up grounds. I don't mind Rasmus Hoigard for making up ground.
Daniel Berger for making up ground. That would probably be the short list.
How song looks pretty good? Sneaky on some models, but he missed the cut at API. Yes. So if you're
remember, and this isn't necessarily a knock on how it's like, he got into that late field late.
He was it for jake nap, wasn't he? So played much better on Friday than he did on Thursday,
which is nice to see. You got to imagine he got he got the call to get into that to get into that
event probably minutes before his tea time was. So you know, for him to not play well on Thursday,
it's not that it's not that surprising, but the rest of his game has been very strong. I saw him
hit a couple shots today. He looked good, but it's a practice round on on Wednesday. I don't mind
using him in game theory situations. Hey, Rick, what type of shot or what type of stress gain
metric is most similar between Bay Hill and Saul Grass, which is the most different.
I would say around the greens, probably the most similar. And I would say
off the tee is kind of similar to, but like different. And I would say, I would say approach
the most similar. Hey, Rick, I've been seeing tons of talk about yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
yes, talked about this already. And you are right. It is it is browning and the rough is very thick.
Thanks for everything you do. Oh, six finger hits and other 25K to call. That's awesome.
Can you really take us through your DFS process? Yes, but not right now because we're in a flow
state and I'm going to go through these and that's going to take too long.
In sit areas where there is a perceived weather advantage, how much should that affect a player's
pre-turning rate evaluation? So I think there's a couple of things here. How big is the advantage?
How big could the advantage be? The likelihood of it. And also the likelihood of it
flipping the script. So for example, if this
got really bad and they stopped play, there might be guys who don't have to tee off and play in it.
You know what I mean? Like the late like AJ you were who's the last T time. If this got really bad
and balls aren't staying on the green, are they are they just going to stop play?
So how bad do I think it is? I think in terms of golf, it's pretty bad because it is wind,
which is impactful. It is a change of wind direction, which is very impactful and it is seemingly
almost to an identical afternoon on Thursday, Friday morning, wave split. You know,
it's not like it's just half of one of those days or something like that. It looks on paper.
It's definitely the worst we've seen this year. I think it's fair to say.
So I think it's bad. I think it's likely because this has been the forecast for a couple days and
that has been very, it hasn't changed. So I think it's very likely. And do I think it is going to
impact play to a point of stoppage? No, I don't. So I'm treating this pretty seriously. I've made
lots of lineups that are just AM only and I don't think you guys hear me say that a lot, right?
I'm only making picks from my one and done out of the AM. I'm only, I made some best for T times
came out, but like I'm taking it quite seriously. The Brooks, Brooks kept a conversation is interesting.
You know, this is a style of golf course that should set up pretty well for him.
We've seen him get basically better every single time he's teed it up, not only in the finishing
positions, but also in the metrics. If the putter is a, I don't even want to call it a weapon,
but if it's like a plus one instead of a minus seven, that's a massive deal. He's driven it well
ever since he finished up on live that goes back to the DP World Tour. He's hit his approach as well
in the last five. The short game's fine. It really is just the putter. And if that's something that
he can he can fix for this week, I think he's very, I think he's very live for a top 10.
I mean, a 20 man one and done middle of the pack, you Scotty at Rive, Conn and more
Conn and API currently have Seawoo, but considering Young, Hovland, maybe Rory.
You know, we have to have the Rory conversation, I guess, and I haven't seen if there's anything new.
But last I saw Rory is expected to get here this afternoon or this evening. There was talk about
maybe him playing some holes tonight. I don't know. I haven't seen anything in the last
couple hours, but I haven't been online last couple hours. So I don't know about that.
I have an outright on Rory. I actually have two because I got him at 12 to 1. Then I saw
he slipped to 16 to 1 and I was like, I'm going to screw this. I guess I'm just going to have to
double down on it. If he plays, I like his chances. But I think there's, I think there's some
pretty big risk here. And especially in a one and done where what happened, you know, it's the
biggest, you can't screw this one up. So I think the risk is a little bit too much for Rory. Macquarie
and a one and done scenario because you might end up getting nothing from him or something very small.
I would, if I were you, Seaboo or Hoffland is Seaboo going out in the morning or in the afternoon.
He's going out in the morning. So either one of those two are fine.
You should probably just play. God playing Seaboo at the, at the player seems crazy, doesn't it?
I'd probably use Hoffland. Playing Seaboo at the, it feels crazy.
So it says I've had Sep locked into one and done since Monday morning.
But now I can't be young and Ludwig are staring him in the face. So I'm playing Ludwig. I'm playing him in
most, if not all of my one and done. I did it with Colin last week. I feel comfortable with Ludwig.
I think there's really a lot of risk everywhere.
Oxe is not cheating while he's putting. He is not anchoring. And the sense from every player out here
is that it literally is completely 100% fine. Every player does not care about it. It's fine.
You've never seen Scotty show frustration because he only shows frustration when he plays
badly and you've never seen him live. Can we do a custom model based on the course preview info?
I don't remember what that was, but I'll give you a custom model.
As of right now, why do I, why are all my tabs messed up?
Let's find this again. All right, I'll run a custom model from what I'm thinking about right now.
Last 24 rounds.
Here's what I would do though. So hold on, we have to do, let's do this. Let's do low apex
for 10. Left to right for 10. Bogey avoidance for 10.
Driving accuracy for 15. Strokes game to approach last 36 for 20.
Fast screens for putting on fast screens for 15.
Around the green scrambling for 10. And last 10 is going to go on.
Course history.
Wow.
Daniel Berger is number one.
Seemoo is number two. Biseinhot is three. Henley is four.
A home is five. It's Patrick is six. Norin is seven. Scotty is eight. Rory is nine.
Hopland is 10 and all of those 10.
All but Rory McElroy playing the morning.
Really interesting.
Read it. You would have popped up in the models I made. What are your feelings? So I like AJ.
You are a little bit more. He seems to be rounding into form and he's got good vibes around here.
He won the Q school here is over at Thys Valley, which is next door, but kind of similar thing.
Yeah, it's been, we did run good tour. It was a video game.
God, I love that game. The golf club 2019. That's such a good game.
God, I miss that. I don't miss Pete COVID. That was scary. I didn't know when golf was going
to come back. That was not very good. But yeah, that was fun.
In the tears contest, who is the guy bottom of the tears that would a chance to really pop this
week? Okay, I think there's a couple. Actually, you know, and this goes for guys in the 6K range as
well as I think there's some pretty good options here. So Ryan Fox $6500 is probably in the last
year is like crazy, crazy good to me. How timely I think is, is okay. I mean, I would go down to
AJ, you weren't. Smother man, I think is fine. That's probably the main list, but we'll go from
there. Deep dive on Poseidon. Yeah, it does seem to be, let me do this right. It does seem to be
popping up in a lot of models, doesn't it? Let's get to see what's going on with him. All right,
we've got the T8 in Puerto Rico, not good the idea to play there, but good that he played well.
Yeah, it's just like a lot of, it's a lot of good play. He's not really being reliant on the
putter as much as he once was kind of better from T to green. Good results all over the place. Yeah,
he's just like a above average player. Does he have history here? He must, right? Miss cut 13th,
41st. That's good by all of these standards.
Just FYI, trying to identify first round plays and I keep getting Gerard and key for every week.
Well, how are you doing it? Here's what I would do. If I was going to run a model specifically
for first round leaders, I would do this. And I'm sure I'm going to get
those two, but let's do this. If I was running a model,
specifically for first round leaders, I would do
weightless stroke scheme total for 15. Then I would do
stroke scheme distribution four and five for 20 and 20. Then I would do
round one strokes game for 20 and round one relative for 25.
Sheffler, Gerard, Moorakawa, Cam Young, Kiefer, Ludwig, Rory, Zander, Cantley, Speed.
Adam Scott, 11th. That might be a pretty good one too.
I do not believe Tony Fina has a very good shot to finish this on the top 10.
He doesn't even drive it that long anymore.
And he's hemorrhaging strokes off the tee. And the rest of his game,
kind of stinks. Now, yes, Havelin will be a good low-owned option in one and done.
Scottie's ownership in the three and done will probably be pretty high.
Higher than what it'll be in one and done, which is kind of weird.
But yeah, I think so. Ludwig over Gerard, a full tournament,
minus 1.25 seems like a no-brainer. Kind of does. Let me do this. I'll throw it in the head
to head match up to real quick. But in the meantime, let me continue on these questions.
So that's Ludwig and Gerard.
Okay. For one and done, would you rather choose
Chris got her Ricky Fowler of Midwool. That's my only options.
Is when's Midwool going out? And when is Ricky going out?
Midwool's going out at
in the afternoon. Ricky's going out in the afternoon. And I know Godoreb's going out there.
That's my only options. I guess Midwool.
Ludwig versus Ryan Gerard.
Head to head match up tool. It's got to sit in 10,000 times. I'm on my computer or on my laptop.
It's going to take a second.
Bridgman or Batilla. Oh, good one.
Batilla, but it's pretty close. I saw Bridgman today. It looks pretty good. Again, just a
that's just a fry of Wednesday. It doesn't really matter.
It doesn't really mean much.
I think this is a better spot for Ludwig than Cam.
How many balls we're predicting in the water? I would have to I'd have to go run the numbers,
but the overrun is 43 and a half. I have to go look.
What do you do when someone models horrible in your model, but they are good results leading in.
Ryan Fox is that guy for me. Yeah, no, like you don't have to bend the knee to the model.
Ryan Fox is great. I have Ludwig at minus 125 for around, so that's pretty similar to what you
got. I mean, I can be sent in the lines for these guys. That's basically right on. Not a
splash spot, but that's the fair number. Top guys that were, so it says Michael Kim,
Tweed Lather, you're going to have to work the ball in both directions. Who are the top guys in
that? So I'll do it this way. Guys that hit it like straight and then we'll kind of look at
both sides. So so Brian Harman hits basically a third of his shots in every direction. Tukumi
Kenaya, Brian Campbell, let's see who else we have here. Sep Strocka, Corey Conn,
Corey Conn has more right to left. Krishamp is a note is pretty evenly split. Russell Henley's
pretty evenly split. I'm just, I'm just going through this like I test wise. Rio, he saw
tonight's pretty even split. Hadecki's a pretty even split. You can kind of look here. Kevin, you
as well. Oh, Denver Timmy, good to have you back. I'll get to that a second. Thanks for all the
time as always with the three and done. Are there any golfers you would hold off on and plan to use
a specific major because of playstyle course history? Well, you have to save the
living offers for majors that can't play in the player's championship. So it kind of obviously
that's one. I'm kind of more holding off on form than I am on like playstyle, but I would have
no problem you know saving like with Jordan's beef make your short list this like you're probably
going to play Jordan's beef in there like saving him for the open or something like that.
Saving somebody like Brooks Keppga for a PGA or US Open is I guess I know he's in them.
But no, not really. I'm kind of doing it more on form. Hi, Denver Timmy.
I had Lowry I ran burger last week. Not cool. Any thoughts on angry? It is 100% no issue like
absolute whatsoever. JJ spawn. Yeah, the problem with JJ mostly comes from the putter. It has been
really, really, really bad. Losing a ton of strokes on the putting surface. It has been one, two,
three, four, five, six and a row, seven and a row measured that are all really bad.
And you heard Brooks Keppga talk about this a little bit and I imagine this is what's happening
with JJ spawn right now is Brooks Keppga talking about how when your putter is struggling you feel
like you have to make birdies with your approach play and it puts a lot of pressure on that to start
hitting everything to six feet because you can't make any puts and it impacts the rest of your game.
That is my hunch of what is happening right now. My bed in car for this week which you should
absolutely absolutely not take like don't bet what I bet. It doesn't matter. It's your money.
It's not my money. But this is what my bed in car looks like and remember some of this is from
before the week started or before any Rory McAward news. I have the column more count out right
from a couple of weeks ago. If you remember a couple weeks ago I said I'm just going to bet more
count right now to win the players. I'm going to bet them to win the majors and the players. That's
exactly what I did. I bet Rory on Monday at 12 to 1 thinking I'm a genius. He's going to be just
fine. This is no big deal. Whatever. Then that was well before the news of the back is being stubborn
and I don't know if I'm going to get there until Wednesday night. That changed stuff. But the other
crappy part is so it was well from 12 to 1 to 16 to 1 and I said well let me just add a little
bit more on top of this because I'm already invested at 12. Why not?
I then so those were kind of like before things started. I also have Ludwig to win outright. I have
two two dark throws, Ryan Fox and Nikolai Hoigard. I should probably put Raspus in there. Then I have
like Corey Conner's top 20 a lot of that. Then I've got like round matchups and everything else.
That's that's generally what the card looks like.
I'm answering some of these. Yeah. So Kudy might be one of the most misprice golfers I think.
Let me pull him up here. God, could you imagine if I had the wrong Hoigard?
I like Nikolai but I kind of as the week has gone, I kind of like Raspus a little bit more.
So it didn't play well at Bay Hill but that was really all on Thursday. Friday was much better.
He is one of the best drivers on the PGA tour. So all of those top 20 finishes that he's had
this year are fantastic and for him to only be $6,700 is absolutely crazy.
And he loved Versailles this week. Yes. Yes.
Not I'm not in love yet but I'm in like with him. You know what I mean?
Chipped in a couple of times last week but he's a very good short game player so it's not crazy but
it does go a long way. Ball striking numbers have been better. Cheetah Green numbers have been
better. Putter has been good enough. He has a good finish here. Yes. I think his range of outcomes
is probably is probably pretty big. Can't decide between X or Fleetwood as my final ad.
If those are my only two options for me, Fleetwood. I'm in third place out of 96 in a two
and done. Is it okay to go chalk Colin and Ludwig? I think that's exactly what you should do.
Yes. I am I am taking the AMPM wave very very seriously.
Rick are you doing the ESPN betcast all weekend? Yes. But okay so here's the thing.
So I did the betcast last week. I'm obviously doing again this week but what I will be able to do is
I have a cart sick that I will be able to drive back and forth or someone will drive me I don't know.
They probably won't let me drive. So I will be going out there you know on breaks or going out there
coming back into the studio and doing all that stuff. The places you are most likely to see me are
the places on that end of the property just for like logistics purposes. So like 15 16 17
T of 18 is probably where I will be around that area almost exclusively because I think by the time
I have to get back I don't know it might it might be too far to go anywhere else once the tournament
starts. We'll see on that I might have some longer breaks but that that is where I'll be if you see
me just grab me and say hello. Do you think TFS content creators ever ever intentionally give out
that information to poison the well for their own advantage if they do the very stupid because there
is one they probably do not move the needle enough to matter. I don't think anybody does and
you're playing a contest that are so big the chance of you actually like impacting something are
very small and I think that would be snuffed out in like five seconds. So that's pretty stupid if they
do. Shouldn't be somebody should be listening to anyway. Try to fill out my line for TFS. Do you
like young in Scott or Ludwig and English Ludwig and English? I you know let's just do the
let's do the Minwoo thing. I like Minwoo. I really do. Is it crazy to use him in a one and done
kind of feels crazy doesn't it? I like Minwoo but it's true that his potter has quote cooled off.
You know seven and a half at Pebble three at Riv only a stroke at API. It's not the end of the
world. It's actually probably better but but that's one thing he has kind of relied on.
The approach play can still be minus five plus four you know it's big range.
I guess it's not the end of the world but he'd be like my six or seven option.
Colin is you know I hate to say things are must plays but the idea of trying to understand
what Colin Moorakawa is going to do months from now feels crazy. We know right now he is playing
Greg golf. He's going to a course that he's played well at. He's in the good weather wave
and he is about confident and his greatest he's ever been. He's also got a baby on the way.
You know is that going to impact what happens later this year and what if he's you know starts to
struggle a little bit? I there's a reason that I use Colin in every single one and done last week
because I wanted to be done with him and I wanted to like get a known entity now. I think there's
a lot of unknown entities from Colin in the future. He spoke with Napa a little bit today.
We bonded over. He has the course record at Mesa Linda Country Club and he knows the
the head ground keeper at my club and so we were just chatting a little bit. He looks great.
He looks fantastic. It looks to be in high spirits. I think he played nine yesterday. I think he played
nine before. I think he probably played nine today. Swing looks fantastic. Vibes. Very very good.
I'm hearing that Rory arrived an hour ago. Okay. So this is kind of breaking news to me.
Mina is telling me in the chat that Rory McElroy arrived
an hour ago. I'm looking. I'm looking, Mina. But that is a good sign. I thought it was a good sign that
Harry was that. Oh, he looks good. He looks good. I'm looking at it right now.
Rory McElroy is in route to the TPC. So aggressive. He intends to play the player.
Championship will make his final decision. Say after you have to test out the back on the
range. Holy crap. You know, people are going to be down to the range. It's unlikely to play a
practice round, but he might play a few holes. Okay. So he's here. He looks good. I assume we are going
to get every single first off. We're going to see every they have the tracer on the range now
and on the app. And I'm sure there's going to be about 50 media members down there. And we're
going to have the result of every single one of his shots. And if he wins his or does anything like
that. So I think we're going to have a pretty good idea of how Rory McElroy looks tonight.
Because imagine if he, if he goes out there and starts blistering 330 yard drives,
you best be assured I'm changing half of my, well, he's still in the afternoon wave. I would
probably change one or two of my one and done entries to Rory. I probably would.
Because he's going to be about 0% owed. I think he might win.
That's sick. All right. Good job, Mina. I don't have an update on Smotherman, but I don't think
there is an update on Smotherman. I think he was, I think he's saying he's good to go. Can
Struggle win this week? Probably not. But I do think there are a lot of things that set up well
form. He is a, he's a very good golfer, obviously. He can work the ball in every direction.
He is talented. We have seen him kind of sometimes, sometimes get like in the heat of the
battle and start to fall back a little bit. Let's check his record here. Pretty good. Pretty good.
T14, T16, T9 is less for years. Some really good T degree numbers. That is positive. Do I think he
can win? Probably not. Do I think he could finish inside the top five? Yes. Who would you rather
bounce back? Fitsy or Fleetwood? So Fitsy's, Fitsy's bad run has just been one event, right? Just
last week. Let's double check this. Tommy has been, yeah, just last week. Tommy has been not as good
for like two or three weeks, but also Tommy has a better like, oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Tommy.
I was wrong about that. I was thinking this T41 and this 49 were closer together. They were not.
So then Tommy, absolutely Tommy. So I saw him hit a couple of shots. Yes,
today looks good. Definitely. Tommy is a better player than Fitspatrickus.
Yeah, I need, no, I need, I need to use, I need to update my tutorials or my user manual. So by
the way, so just to be clear, this showdown cheat sheet is freaking sick. I like the, I like the
dark mode. This is the tip of the iceberg. Rank's values versus expectation. Add it. There's
like 50 stats in here, maybe more than that. This is going to update in more real time.
Yeah, is anything coming through for the players yet? Sometimes the T times will start coming through,
but this might not load until like the first T shot is hit or the first guy completes the first
hole. So don't freak out. This might not load right now and it might not load until tomorrow morning.
But yeah, you can go see last week. It should pop up and say like nothing is available yet. Go
back to the, yeah, there you go. Show premium event. So bear with me. It's going to go through
a stress test this week. It's going to take a little bit of time, but very, very cool.
Xander Camion.
Camion deep dive on college chances as good as ever.
The only bad thing about God are up is he's playing in the morning, right? I don't, I'm sorry,
he's playing the afternoon. I like, I like God are up chances, but I probably like map chances
better. I appreciate the super chat. Never required always appreciate it. This is how much are you
weighing the AMP and T times? Pretty significantly. AJ Eward has a, he's very good, but he has a very
small sample size. So if he pops up that that's, there's a note in the tournament predictor about
his sample size. Favorite six K kind of finished, T20, exactly T20 or a top 20.
My favorite is going to be, this is going to be tough. It's going to be Ryan Fox, but let me just
double check to make sure. Yeah, it's going to be Ryan Fox. So Ryan Fox is a couple of things going
for him. He's playing well. He's well-rounded. He's long enough. He's got a very good shot shape.
Puts it well. I like Ryan Fox quite a bit.
Here's, okay, let's do Kirk Kadeyama. I saw him, he was hitting some chips. I didn't really
see much else from him on that regard. But, sound T to green actually played pretty well last
week for loosen three and a half strokes around the green. Yeah, yeah, okay. I do worry about a
short game here, but he's been very good. I worry about the short game here. Okay, I was going to
say I thought the shots that he was hitting were kind of crappy, but it was a tough shot that he
was set up on. And I've seen a lot of crappy around the green. I've seen a lot of crappy around the
green shots. Thick rough where these guys cannot figure out what to do with it. And to some of the
pinless. So I don't know if you guys know this, but like basically for these practice rounds,
they just stick the pin in the middle of the green for the most part. But then what happens is
the Kadeys know where the pins are likely going to be because of past years or whatever. So they
go out and they put these little like coasters like the size of a whole coaster. It's like a flat
thing in the spots. And then after they play to the middle of the green, they will chip and put
to the quadrant space or to the edge of the green. And some of these guys trying to chip to some
of these pin locations out of the thick rough is not going very well. Yeah, so Kadeys almost one of
those guys. Try and stop by the point of each or in and club.
Don't mind me if I do. Yeah, let me go to the hotel restaurant a lot with Meena, but
it's good idea right that time. Yes, I will break down March madness if you insist, if you really
insist. Okay, I think I did this already. Do I still have the custom model up? Gosh,
I have too many tabs open and I've got a different set up of screen setup.
Here are five first round leaders in the AM slate.
Let me think about this. I'm trying to remember who is in there. Tommy.
Okshay, Raspus Wigar, Max Graserman, Kevin Yu, how about that one, baby?
Are people sleeping on Mac this week? Mac Meister?
Mac Meister.
Miss the contact cognizant but gained five. Wow, gain five strokes on approach and lost five and a
half putting. But he gained six the week before that. That's weird. Yes, they are sleeping on him.
There's a pretty easy path to him getting back to the top here. Hadecki hold on a second.
I just got a notification. Let me make sure it's not anything crazy. Hold on one sec.
No. Hadecki Hogi Harman or Young Okshay Napp, young Okshay Napp, and I don't think it's close.
Can Davis to make the cut? I hope so. I would not put my money on it.
Is anybody else's audio choppy? Hopefully not because I've been going for an hour before I saw
this question. So hopefully not. Seewoo and Ricky or Colin and Davis Thompson.
If Davis Thompson goes out in the morning, Davis Thompson, we don't have the
shot link data from. Actually, watch this though. I bet you can do this. Watch this. Can we do this?
Go to the showdown cheat sheet. Go to Puerto Rico. Now when you go to Puerto Rico
and you reset this, hold on a second. Let me try to refresh this because it's, oh,
oh, oh, I saw what I had wrong. I had versus expectation clicked. It should have just said.
All right. So Puerto Rico values. So if it's a non-shot link event, the default stats are
strokes game total, driving distance, driving accuracy, greens of regulation, scrambling,
and pots per round, then you can still add more stats. Here's Davis Thompson.
So we don't have the numbers, but okay, this is a good sign. So he finished fourth last week,
but he was ninth in greens and regulation, 15th in driving accuracy, fourth in strokes game total,
for a second in scrambling. What else would we like to see?
The problem is some of these are, okay, like total birdies, birdie, or better. He was,
okay, top 25 in birdies, 51st in birdies, or better, but he also didn't make many bogies.
Yeah, I think, I think Davis Thompson's like a pretty solid flag.
In GPPs with Vory, would you more likely pivot from, oh, it's Ludwig? I, I, I, I, I'm sorry, it's
Lowry. I'd rather go to Lowry than Bobby Mac is the question. Lowry was,
was beating the crap out of his playing partner today and they're matchup.
They're fun little game. Can you run a model? Sure. Let's do it. Let's run a model.
Model, model, model. So this is Augustine's model. Hold on, how many rounds?
He says, this is the model to end all models, but he doesn't tell me how many rounds. So I'm just
going to do last 24. All right. So this is the model to end all models. Oh, last 20. Sorry, he did say.
Uh, 20 on weighted stroke scale total, okay.
20 on stroke skein,
T to great. Okay. 10 on stroke skein approach. Okay. 10 on driving accuracy.
10 on, oh, 10 on non-weighted stroke skein total. 10 on par five scoring.
10 on permuda. Pudding. 10 on sawgress. So this is Augustine's model to end all models.
Oh, TPC sawgress. Oh, boy. Roar old, mackled, roared. Is number one.
Roar, mackled, roared. Column, more, cow, two. Maffin's Patrick, Skydash, Shaffler, Min, Wu,
Lee, Sibukim. We're also having like Jake nap, Jacob Bridgman, Rio. He saw us now. Tell you what,
it's pretty good actually. It's pretty good. Roar is out in the afternoon, Min was out in the
afternoon, Jacob Bridgman Rio around the afternoon. It's pretty good. Did Minatella, I'm getting to
the part where Minna is commenting in the chat to she tell you she saw Adam Scott at a bar last night.
Did she tell you that?
NAP is good to go. So I'm today, let's go. I think Nico Hoigard, Rassus Hoigard, and Ryan Fox.
This Foxie, Foxie might not be outside 100 to 1, but they could all win.
Oh, favorite ladders this week, NAP or Russ.
That's a good question. NAP is probably a pretty good one. That worked out a couple of weeks to go.
I mean, Henley's probably pretty good too. What about, um, see, we got to be really careful here.
I would have, I mean, Sibuk wouldn't be the end of the world, honestly.
No, I think you nailed it, those two. Boshu, I'm in on Boshu.
I'm in the money, an 80 person wanted done, leaning NAP. I don't, okay. So again,
I, I think the back is completely fine, isn't it? He played nine holes yesterday.
He played nine holes a day before. No problems. I saw him today. He looks great. He's in great
mood. We chatted, daddy, daddy, I saw him hit a bunch of shots. He's fine. There's no
risk of you worry about NAP. Cue him withdrawing, but you get what I'm saying.
We'll sleep in May. We don't sleep now. We'll sleep in May.
This is just a lot of Jake, MAP, Ludwig conversation, so I'm just skipping.
How did you get a T-time next Friday, TPC Sawgrass? That's sick. Are you going to play it all
after the tournament takes place? No, I am a leaving Monday to go to Philadelphia for March,
bad, and that's with my boys. So I am on like a, is it my leaving Monday or Tuesday,
like a 5am flight or something like that? I don't think I did a burger deep dive,
but let's do the burger deep dive. Do me a favor. While I pull this up, if you like the way
that I think about this stuff, just hit the subscribe button. That would go so far for me,
and it would take you five seconds and cost you nothing. Here's the really good news about
plus eight on approach at API, plus six on approach at Cognizant, plus seven on approach at Phoenix.
That is three of his last five starts. When he was at his best, it was that way. He was just
kind of flushing it, and then he would become this well-rounded player, very similar to what we saw at Bay Hill.
So there is a lot of DNA in that type of play from him. So I do think, and I've probably said this
a couple of times, I do think that he is going to, I think he's going to be in contention a lot
more this year. I really do. Who is the most accurate long driver? There's probably a bunch of ways
we could do this. Let's do it like, gosh, I mean, there's so many ways to do it. Let's do,
like, how's my custom model keep going? I keep getting rid of that tap. I'm usually much better at this,
I swear. All right, we'll sort by driving, oh my god, driving distance. I am completely out of
whack right now. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to do driving 50, 50. Get out of the way.
All right. So, longest drivers who are accurate. Woodland kind of,
Minimulee, Maxoma, Michael Fobironsman, San Burns, Ricky Castillo, Jordan L. Smith,
Alex Smolley, Ludwig, Kevin Yu, Daniel Berger, Kamiya.
I appreciate you. The second cut is a show we do on YouTube and wherever you get your pods.
It's like news and fun and storylines and best. It's Mark Gimmelman, Greg Dusharm,
sometimes Patrick McDonald joins us. A lot of similar questions, but I guess it's kind of good.
Yeah. Oh, this is very kind. So glad you get to go to these events. No one deserves it more
to be around these incredible fields. That's very sweet. I've been watching for four years
and your big reason why my favorite sport is golf. That's incredible. Thank you for that.
That's very kind.
Cam Young, the good is that he's playing fantastic golf. The bad is that he likes to really only
hit it one way and he's playing in the afternoon on Thursday. I agree with this. Brooks could be worth
a catch-up playing one and done. Glover as a flyer, I would prefer you play
anybody else. My one and done card is mostly Ludwig and maybe a little bit of Rory if he gets
through this range session this afternoon. A gentleman's bet Rick Brooks will miss the cut.
Nothing personal. Document this, please, Mina. Okay. Mina's pick is Commodore Cowish. She's
put it in the chat. She's called him Seymour again, which is the only person in the world who calls
him Seymour. Home a deep dive. All right, let's get it after it. Let's get it after it. That's
why I keep losing my models. I keep taking that tab and searching for golfers. Oh, don't mind that.
It's over a long period of time, but two of his last six have been complete gains.
Cognizant was a very good start. It's a very good profile.
I'm just going to check a couple things real quick.
I just kind of want to look at his profile real quick.
I wish he played the highest rate of his career is playing a left or right shot. 70-something
percent. But he's other years he's been better at that or at least more evenly distributed.
Yeah, I think it's okay. I think it's good. The complete gain is usually a very good sign.
I have started to notice the Jordan's beef recent form. I'll pull it up on the screen so we can
look at it together. Putters been good. Around the grease been pretty good. Fixed in the approach
flight. Drivers been okay. Well, at least once. It's definitely going in the right direction.
He's been really bad here. Consider me incredibly cautiously optimistic. But I don't know if this
is the week. This place has never has never sat well on him.
Is he playing in the morning or the afternoon?
Yeah. Let's pick back up with Jordan when we get to Texas.
I remember that.
Yeah, I love Ricky. I love the Bogey avoidance. I actually felt like him for somebody who would
have a Bogey free round was a pretty good bet. I think it was like 16-to-1 or something like that.
Maybe it was just for the first round. You guys, if you're here all the time, you know that I'd
never really take the waves that seriously because usually we're pretty bad at predicting the weather
and it's not like a full thing and these guys are pretty good. But this is about as bad as it's
looked in a while. It's almost completely aligned with the morning wave and the afternoon wave.
So I'm taking it pretty seriously. Hogi hasn't missed the cut here. Does this mean anything to you?
It does not. Can we do a deep dive on Shane Lowry? We can't.
Here's Lowry. $8,600. The miscut at Bay Hill was probably a little bit predictable.
Again, I saw him for a couple of shots today. It wasn't good spirit. It was playing well.
It's Wednesday, but I think we're going to get back to the stuff from before the meltdown
at the cog. He's got good history here.
Deep dive on Pavon. Well, he's got French media following him around. He's the only freshman in
the field because he's got a lot of people following him around.
Played Puerto Rico finished T-42, played Kai as it finished T-17 now. He's just, no, no, no, no.
Look at all these strokes. He's losing on approach. He is going to have to gain six strokes
putting this week. Absolutely not. Have we talked about Midwool? Oh, just a lot. Yes.
I like Midwool. But I think it is worried on the range right now.
Are they showing? I like Midwool, but it seems like I do not like him nearly enough because
everybody is in on Midwool. Let me see if they have the tracer up for him.
The tour, the tour cast on the range is kind of sick. Today's Wednesday.
Is he out there? How do I find?
No shots available. Maybe he is on the practice creators, like maybe he's putting or something.
Okay. Well, we'll keep an eye. We'll keep an eye. It's very exciting times.
I don't know. Yeah, I'm allowed to show it. I mean, this is, are you allowed to show that?
Yes, it's just website. Anybody can see that.
Okay.
I'm seven. Then you're one and done trying to cash in segment one.
Is it just Ludwig for me? Yes. Good luck.
Okay, let's do the, I don't think we did this. So don't, don't feel bad. I don't think we did
this Ricky Castillo deep dive.
Very cheap. The win last week was great, but it's even better that he went fifth at Cognizant
than he won and that he has not missed a cut this year. And he actually finished third at the
RSM Classic last year. So we've got one, two, three, four, five, six events in a row of really
good stuff. This WD doesn't matter. This is the Q school WD. This happens all the time.
Like guys get off to like a bad starter or whatever and they're not going to make it
thorough and they just withdraw. Like a third of the field withdrawals at Q school.
So don't worry about that. Play here last year, miss the cut.
It's pretty good. This is about as good as it gets first. It needs to be $62 per player.
Maybe he's my last guy. He's also Jacksonville guy. Wow. Tell me he's going out in the morning.
If I click this and he's going out in the morning, we're going to have like a serious,
a serious discussion is going to have to be had here.
He is holy crap. Okay. Ricky Castillo first round leader. Let's see what number
we can get on this together. I have to use hard rock, because I'm here in Florida.
End of round, leaders after round one. How far do I have to scroll to get through?
I'm just going to go to the bottom work my way up. He is,
oh, I'm still scrolling. What's that? I missed him.
100 to one.
100 to one. Okay. I'm definitely going to do that. And we'll also do top 10 after round one.
What's that number?
I know this is riveting.
Need just scrolling through a list of names. 901.
All right. We're going to put a little bit on that. And we're going to put a little bit on that.
And we're going to place this and we're done. All right. Good job. Good job, everybody.
I'm Ricky Castillo.
Yes, Jake nap is fine. I am a Coke Zero Stan.
Oh, no. I'm a Coke Zero Stan. Some places only have Pepsi.
Stinks, but I'll drink Pepsi Zero. Nathan Hubbard tweeted, Roy does not look right on the range.
I just talked to Nathan yesterday and I trust his
says he doesn't look right. Is that the only person who has tweeted something about Roy?
I do. Is there anything worse than Twitter? The Twitter search is so the app, it doesn't even work
anymore. Roy on the range definitely not right. Absolutely would stay away. Don't like to hear that.
Do not like to hear that. Okay. Well, I guess we'll see.
We don't know yet.
Are the games in Philly for Marshmallows? I was just going to go to a bar.
I honestly don't know. I just meet up with my buddies for like Thursday and Friday.
We were just going to go to the bar. We always go to are the games in Philly? I don't know that.
This is a good idea. I'll look into that.
No, this is this is this is on the pj towards website. It's just pjtor.com. It's on the bar
there. You can go see Rory's. You can see any range session from anybody. So you can see
like naps on the range right now. He just hit one. He said 156 shots. He's completely fine.
Look, he did some chips here. Hit these out there. He's completely fine.
What was this? Was this driver? Yeah. 187 mile an hour ball speed.
10 yards at 10 yard draw. Gorgeous. Here's another one. 17 yard draw. Here's another one.
That was a little loopier. Okay, looks great. Looks fantastic.
But where is this Rory? Get to the range, Rory.
Yeah, everybody's got to say questions about Rory and Scotty and NAP. So here's the thing
with Zander. I think I said this on Monday, maybe. Oh, Rory's on the background.
That's why they don't have the data. I can get back there though. Should I go out there?
Should I run out there and live stream it? I'll definitely get my credentials pulled for that.
Yeah, so the back lies on the back. Sick. How do we feel about Zander?
For a year and a half, he just has not potted as well as he used to. It's really the only
difference between the difference between him now and the guy who won two-time major winner.
Before the week started, I would have like, I definitely like Nico better.
Raspus is coming up, but it is very, very tight. Closes has never been for those guys.
Both sides of the range are open for me, but both sides of the range are open.
I actually think fans can get back there too. So it's not like it's just the media thing.
Fans can get back there too. Someone's going to post videos from back there.
Because I think fans can get back there. So number one.
On the right side here is number four. I think that's right.
And then this little walkway goes back there.
And I'm pretty sure fans can get back here. So this is just roped off here.
And you can go back there on that walkway. So if he's back there, someone is taking
some one is taking videos of that.
Okay, did not know that. I did not know the games were filled. That's interesting.
I would not be at the games. I'll just be in town.
All right, here we go. Superfecta.
Ludwig, Colin, Straca.
You have to get like some randoms in there too.
Halton.
Do you have to pay to get a question answered? No. In fact, I would encourage you not to pay.
You have to ask a good question or a question that hasn't been repeated or something that's like
whatever. I don't answer every question. And nobody pays to get their questions answered in this.
There is a place called Tacos on 12 that has the best food that I've had so far,
but I've got to get some more.
A-M-P-M is looking like the best.
All right.
Should I just run out there? The range is very far from here, but I might have to do it.
All right, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to try. I have something else I have to do.
I don't even know if he's still going to be out the range when I get out there. I'm going to try to
get out there and try to figure out what's going on for him, right? I'll retweet or I'll tweet
something if somebody reports it or if whatever, but I'm going to, I guess, I'm just going to try to get
out there. Okay. Big thanks to all of you. All the links that you need are in the description.
Get into the splash contest. You can sign up for rickrunggood.com. I think it's the best value in the
