Broad and Roomy. Sam and Al discuss life in recovery. Step 11 Readings from “Opening Doors Within” by Eileen Caddy and Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book. #12steps #recovery #addiction #AA #CA.
One time...
Right now.
Alright, than go away people.
There we are
Following him...
Remember,
Yes there was all thought there...
Athletic singing, someone built a beautiful arts.
Hey folks, what's the 8th at Our沒事 team?
Think wholeness, be wholeness...
Life has wholeness in your life.
To be a whole person you need to know yourself,
know where you're going. Did I say hey, Kevin's one? Oh, good, because I said we've just
marched ahead. So I was thinking wholeness, let me start again. Think wholeness, be wholeness,
and manifest wholeness in your mind. To be a whole person you need to know yourself,
know where you're going, and know what you are doing, and then let go ahead in confidence
and live a whole, glorious and full life. Never have any doubts about yourself or your
abilities to be whole. It is doubts and fears and worries that prevent you from establishing
wholeness. So cease your worry and banish all fears and doubts in the knowledge that I am
with you always, and that with me all things are possible. But remember, always let your faith
and confidence be in me, the Lord your God, the divinity within you. Walk hand in hand with me,
consult me at all times, and let me guide and direct you. I am within you, therefore nothing
from without can interfere with our direct contact. Feel safe and secure in this knowledge.
When your security is in me, all is indeed very, very well.
Just listening to Alan Watts this morning thinking that the ego makes a separate from the whole,
you know, the little tyrant in our head, the e, the ii, the meaning, I like, I don't like, I want,
you know, and if you're going back to wholeness, you're connecting with the divinity within you.
You're connecting with everyone else, your whole, you're doing everything for the whole,
you're not selfish and self-seeking and self-centred, you're doing service, you're thinking about this,
it is more wholesome to be like that, and it is a constant battle,
so we try and tame the ego to try and, what is it, deflate it, we go deflation,
to try and master it, master it so that it doesn't master you because it's full of fear,
full of resentment, full of keeping it safe in the past, let's just say,
in this, you're happy in the familiar, you know, go back to drinking, you're safe there, it tells you
lies, it's the whole point of life in a yogic term is to master the mind,
once you do that through meditation, prayer, working for others, you're, so in AA, we've got,
we've got a chance to right-size the ego, as it were, to put the will back into place, and
if we're thinking more right-colon, what's God's will for us, we're not in the ego mind.
So, we've, we've got a head start on being enlightened to be an AA,
I don't think we get there, but we certainly move up the consciousness,
we work towards working for the whole, there's always a part of us that is selfish,
the I amless, but it's trying to put it back into balance so that we're not living life
full of fear and resentment. The other day I was listening to someone and she said, oh, don't
criticise me because I haven't got the sponsor, but I don't need one, and then the next breath,
I'm full of fear and resentment, because, you know, you're running the show, you're,
you're letting the ego run the show, because it's full of fear and anxiety and, and,
and it's so easy to just look back into that, you know, that's where I find myself,
while the wing in the low mind. And, you know, yesterday on the walk I was trying to say to you,
you know, you've overcome by events and just look at the scenery,
and nothing's, if we didn't see the news, we wouldn't think that anything was different.
You know, the birds don't know it's different, the flowers are still emerging, the birds are singing.
Nature is a good thing, nature is a good karma of the senses.
Yeah, you can make me whole again.
That was on the film, watching the other day, we saw something and we just both started singing it,
but it's on the documentary.
Yes, it's awesome.
Well, it's, I seem to remember Christ and having this whole, holy discussion, you know,
the whole in the soul, and you're not whole, you know,
and to feel the whole, you're in front of her, to feel that whole we've got to think of the whole.
It's a crazy language, isn't it?
Well, you can have two different words about that, but the same one is sent from one letter.
So you can have it on your t-shirt to fill your hole, you need to work for the whole.
Yeah, double you in front of her.
And it's like who, you know, who, some, yeah, so thankful for us, isn't it?
Oh,
I think what other words are being in this WHLE?
But I don't know, I find it, it's just this idea of being incomplete, you know, lacking things,
you know, that there's something missing, you know, whether it's part of your soul or
physical things or ideas, you know, you know, that
I'll be, if I get it, I'll be all right, if I do that, I'll be all right, if I see that,
I'll be all right, you know, there's always things that you need to see or do again.
And then you'll be happy.
And that's the life of the gay mind, isn't it?
And what the reading is saying, don't back to being part of God?
Well, I think that there's some basic things that are really essential in life, you know,
and it's the kind of thing I need to have an income to pay my bills.
I need to pay my bills to have shelter. I need shelter to live. I don't want to be on the street,
exposed to the elements and rock the things, you know, so there are certain things that
may be basic. It's the processes of life that are, you know, legitimate concerns and not just,
you know, the equal. You see that, you see the, the yogis, you know, that come into
a shakashan, you know, they sort of, they'll have no fear over being fed or taken in when they're
on their sort of pilgrims. They've got no fear. They're just, oh, something will unfold, something
will turn up. And people, they're, I mean, they're, they're on their own, they have no response
from what it is, you know, they can probably be hungry for days or weeks, you know, they, they'll
sleep in their robes and a mango tree or whatever. Yeah. That's, that's a choice of
life isn't it? There's a lot of freedom and that, about love and security, I suppose.
If you live in a culture where you're surrounded by just people and they're, you know, they're
ordered to help a holy person and, you know, you've got a structure there, haven't you?
And then, you know, we live in a world of anxiety where people, people are fearful around.
You made homeless, you know, I mean, a lot of alcoholics have that terror in our case, you know,
and that's, that's the kind of, the fear of that certainly helped me stop.
Yeah. But then, you know, if you're thinking about the, the, the prison supports,
and then maybe that fear turns into courage to change what you're doing, you know, so you're,
just a little courage around the fear. You started, you don't need to courage if there's no fear,
but if you're fearful of something and you find some courage to deal with that, you know, then,
you know, that's empowering, you find power. You know, you're raising your life with consciousness,
you're raising your, you know, energy state, I mean, you know, that you can feel that.
And the courage to walk into an A-A room, and then you get hope, you're starting to move up the
scale, you're starting to get power because you're using the principles. So, you get hold, hold, hold,
Holy, holy, holy.
More holy.
Oh, let's stick.
What's if you got this morning?
Holistics.
Doesn't have a W, doesn't it?
No.
And that's the whole body is meant to be made a whole.
It's not.
Holy hasn't...
You know, the Holy Ghost.
No.
What pain is there?
We can play that all day.
Checked out.
I don't know.
We are on age 4 to high.
All right.
Never know.
We're on age 4 to 6.
There was a feeling of born wonder, but it was fleeting and soon lost.
Yes, we have agnostic terms about how to add these thoughts and experiences.
Let us make haste to your theory.
We found that as soon as we were able to lay aside prejudice and express even a willingness to believe in a power greater than ourselves,
we commenced to get results,
even though it was impossible for any of us to fully define or comprehend our power, which is God.
Much to our relief, we discovered we did not need to consider another's conception of our God,
our own conception, however inadequate,
was sufficient to make the proof and to affect contact with Him.
As soon as we admitted the possible existence of a creative intelligence,
a spirit of the universe underlying the totality of things,
we began to be possessed of a new sense of power and direction,
provided we took other simple steps.
We found that God does not make two hard terms with which we seek Him.
To us, the realm of spirit is broad, roomy, all-inclusive,
never-liquid, or far-biting, to those who honestly seek.
It is open, we believe, to all men.
Constable.
Yes.
It is very good.
We have more stations in one of them.
It's just powerful.
That's what the system is called.
It's been a good game, I'm on the front.
You did it the other way around.
It's a terrible thing.
Yeah, the realm of the spiritual problem, maybe.
Some major points in there, isn't it?
As soon as you become willing, then things start to improve.
Express even, or even express awareness.
Don't have to believe.
Express a willingness to believe.
It's not believing, it's a promise.
And that is so key to...
Look, are you willing to believe that I've got better?
Because I believed that enough.
You know, you could get people passes.
Yeah.
Are you willing to open your mind?
And get lost.
No.
You don't need to...
I'm not willing.
I'm going to hold on to all my ideas.
And you can shove your fucking ideas up your arms.
I'm going for a drink.
Yeah.
You know, I'm still talented.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's it.
Come back when you're ready.
You know, I was...
I was the same.
I did that.
Are you willing or fuck off?
I wouldn't put it quite like that.
No.
Neither would I.
But I mean, you could put it in those terms.
Because I've done it.
You've done it.
Don't waste my time.
But I've done it.
And you've done it.
You know.
So you have that...
Well, I actually...
I like willingness and it's fucked off.
Yeah.
So use your experience to say that.
You know, this is what happened with me.
You know, you're doing the same thing.
And I did the same thing.
And I'm just telling you.
You know, that in my experience.
Because I wasn't willing.
And because I wasn't prepared to do this work.
I caused so much harm on my family.
And if you wanted to do that.
I know it's from the emotional appeal.
But that's your choice, you know.
You have the choice to do that.
And good luck.
And we're always here.
Mm-hmm.
When you want to come back.
Not a fuck off.
Mm-hmm.
That's not a whole.
That's not, you know.
Very, not very spiritual.
No.
But using your experience.
That could actually stop someone in their trash.
Keep coming back.
You know, keep coming back.
Or just fuck off.
You're not willing to fuck off.
Which would have been more.
You know, because it's like the keep coming back.
It was like, yeah, it's all right.
You know, don't worry about it.
I have a job.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
You know, the willingness to come back.
You know, that's women.
Yeah.
There's a willingness there.
You've so many things.
You've done what you need is.
And they've taken a decision.
And that's okay.
Because we have so well.
And hopefully they'll get back.
It's the ones that don't get back.
They die.
That's the sad thing.
So, you know, and some people do work with your style.
You know, they like it.
You know, you work with, you know, young men.
And sometimes they might understand that.
So, you know, everyone works in their own way.
But for me, I, you know, I just say, well,
if it's not for you, then, you know,
bear us in mind if it gets bad again.
Because, uh, it's surely well.
Yeah.
Good reading.
Just the willingness.
Just the willingness.
Yeah.
There's a lot in it.
You know, you know, that, you know,
we can't be possessed of a new sense of power and direction.
Provided we took other simple steps.
You know, like, get on that.
Just admit the possibility of a power of a creative spirit.
Well, how does all our internal system work?
How does our endocrine respiratory, you know, reproductive?
How does all that work?
How do we know what to digest and what to expel?
There's an intelligence going through us.
And it's not us.
That's it.
Look at the sky.
Look at the way you look at nature.
You know, just consider that there is a power that is greater than you.
You know, as soon as we were able to lay aside prejudice,
you know, I think that's important that there's a,
you have to have this shift of attitude,
where you suddenly see your atheism or your agnosticism
as a former pre-judgment.
You know, it's an opinion, it's a point of view,
you know, that I've come to.
You know, and I've got that already in my head,
and I come into, and people talking to me,
go out and have power.
And I feel so bad through my current thinking,
my point of view, my pre-judgment, my prejudice.
And to get to a point where you suddenly,
you read, I think, I've got to lay aside,
what I think put it to one side,
and listen and be prepared to be prepared to think,
you know, look into the possibility of something out or something out there.
And, you know, and then, you can take care of all the steps
you're working on that equal.
Because our choice wasn't good.
We're taking it, you know, quite far.
And the choice was to go back out there.
I couldn't, you know, I knew that that last rehab was it.
So I didn't really have a choice.
So in a way, it was easier.
And I was willing, because I just, you know,
I had that break in rehab the way from the drink.
And that was enough to realise,
I do not want to go back to that.
So, you know, the surrender came and I'd cease fighting.
So I was willing to accept whatever was coming.
But...
Yeah, well, let's start surrendering the mid-defeet.
It's like, from that kind of annihilation,
you know, you can have a rebirth, a renewal.
Yeah.
Which means in practical terms,
you can put aside all the ideas and bring in new ones.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
I'm changing, it doesn't involve changing, I think.
Changing the ideas, you know, and moving forward.
It's great, isn't it?
It's very good.
Oh, it's such a relief.
Every time I go through the big car,
I remember going through the incident.
Yeah.
Gold does not make too hard terms for those who seek him.
You know, just be nice.
Yeah.
Stop being a dick.
Yeah, stop harming people.
Yeah.
Stop harming yourself.
Yeah.
Cool.
No.
We don't know.
There's some, I'll be hungry.
Yeah.
No.
In the sun.
The tongue guy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Hmm.
