The Rendlesham UFO Incident

About this episode

In this episode I'm reading from Gary Osborn's next book 'The timeless Conception'

The Rendlesham Forest Incident of December 1980, is considered by far the most significant event in UFO history. It was also a unique military-related event, having taken place in Rendlesham Forest just outside the twin bases of RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk, England – both of which had been transferred to the United States Air Force in 1951 by the British MOD (Ministry of Defence), becoming one of the largest and most important NATO complexes in Europe during the Cold War.

The account given in this book is that of James W. Penniston, a Staff Sergeant at the time of the incident, who was the primary witness who led the investigation in the beginning and had ‘Top-Secret clearance’ – one of only eight people with Top-Secret clearance working Security at the twin bases. His credibility and honesty were highly respected throughout his years in the USAF. Jim Penniston has teamed-up with author Gary Osborn to present the definitive account of the Rendlesham Incident and the aftermath of events, just as he witnessed and experienced them from the incident itself, which began during the early morning hours of Boxing Day, December 26, 1980 up to April 2014.

Bio

Gary is an author, independent researcher, and expert in ancient symbolism. He has studied the Giza plateau and the possibility that ancient monuments contain hidden layers of meaning.

He explores the correspondence between binary code coordinates associated with Staff Sergeant Jim Penniston’s 1980 Rendlesham Forest encounter and notable points on the Giza Plateau. He also studies potential links between mathematics, mythology, and megalithic architecture, and what these connections could suggest about our understanding of the ancient world.

In this episode, I'm reading from Gary Osborne's next book, The Timeless Conception. The book will be published this summer, so make sure you put it on your shopping list. When I have guests on my podcasts, I read their books to work out questions for the episodes, and when reading these books, I always find such amazing information that never makes it into the podcast. And here, I give you a chance to get a peek into the book. I did seek permission to record this extract, and the author kindly said yes. I'm going to begin by reading from a section titled, The Rendleton Binary Code Message, Sunday, October 2nd, 1983. And this is what Gary has written. Sunday, October 2nd, 1983, is a day I remember well. I was reading through the Sunday newspapers, while visiting my parents' home in Reigns Park, Surrey, England. One of these papers was The News of the World, which my father had left lying around. My attention was drawn to the front page,

and the sensational heading, UFO lands in Suffolk, and that's official. Although it was almost three years after the incident, this was the first time the Rendlesham Forest incident had made headlines in the national media. I remember being deeply interested in the story as it happened next to a military base in Suffolk, England. Because this was front page news, my thoughts at the time were that this military incident might one day force a government disclosure on the phenomenon, which to date still remains to be seen. Typically, the story was short lived in the national press, but throughout the next 30 years, I would occasionally follow this case, especially as any new developments, or new evidence came to light. Little did I know some 30 years later, I would be personally involved in deciphering a code that originated during the incident, which would actually provide the reason as to why the incident happened in 1980. But we shall get to that later.

At the time when the Rendlesham Forest incident took place over three nights between the last hour of December 25 and the early mornings of December 28, 1980, I was 23 years old. I was an ordinary working-class guy with a comprehensive school education living in Peckham, London. Two months earlier, in September 1980, I had joined the family graphics business, and this gave me some stability. Before that, I was really moving from one job to another. I didn't have a care in the world, and was only really interested in socialising with my friends on the weekend and having a good time. Music had always played a huge part in my life. Having learnt to play guitar since the age of nine, I later played league guitar in various rock bands that were gigging the local pubs and clubs around London, Kent and Surrey. Although I was intellectually curious and read a great deal, I was quite ignorant about the things that I would later become involved in,

and really had no ambitions or aspirations as a writer. I was a happy-go-lucky guy who took things as they came and basically led a free and easy lifestyle. However, all that would change on November 10, 1993, when I had a life-changing experience that was so unlike anything I had experienced before that I decided to learn everything I could about the phenomenon behind this experience, which ultimately led me to a career as a published author. This experience has mentioned several times throughout this book, and mostly within the context of ancient Egyptian cultural beliefs and the esoteric mystical traditions. I had no prior knowledge of this experience, but once I'd identified what this experience or phenomenon was, I soon discovered that since the 1950s, others in the West had experienced the same life-changing awakening event in their lives. I have covered this experience in my other written works,

and I've mentioned it in various interviews I've done over the years, so I won't dwell on it too much here, as this book is not about me or this phenomenon. Suffice to say that although, for numerous reasons, I have always felt uncomfortable with discussing this experience. I am now certain that this experience and what I learned over the years as a result of my research into it had prepared me for my work on a code that emerged from the first night's events of the Rendalsham Forest Incident. The accounts that follow in this preliminary chapter were picked from a large file of documented events taken from various notes and diaries relating to my own timeline, and it was while going through these notes for this chapter that the significance of these events became palpably apparent, connected as they are to the events that are going on in the world at the present time. October 22, 2010. Almost exactly 20 years to the date when I'd first read the story

and the aforementioned newspaper, I received an email message from a self-acclaimed British female uphologist, with whom I'd been corresponding with since 2009, and who had initially told me she had lived in South Africa and was a researcher for the South African Evaluation Centre for UFO reports. The message she sent me included a JPEG image of several strange pictograms, symbols, or glyphs. I was asked to examine these glyphs with a view to perhaps deciphering what they mean, adding that they were associated with the Rendalsham Forest Incident which took place in Suffolk, England in December 1980 and was seen on the side of an unidentified triangular craft that staff Sergeant Jim Peniston, United States Air Force now retired, had witnessed and touched and had quickly sketched in his notebook. The uphologists went on to say that she had recently been talking to Jim Peniston and that he had sent her the images of the glyphs to look at

and that she was requesting help on what they could mean, adding that the glyphs were also being studied by South African ancient astronaut theorist and author Wayne Hershel. As soon as I saw the name Peniston, things immediately clicked into place. The timing of this was notable because only a few weeks previously, I'd watched a documentary on the Discovery Channel about the incident which happened over three days during Christmas 1980 in which an unidentified craft had landed in Rendalsham Forest in Suffolk, England close to the twin USAF bases of Bentwater's and Woodbridge. I distinctly remembered a young Jim Peniston being portrayed by an actor and noted that it was Peniston who had claimed to have touched the unidentified triangular craft. As regards the world's UFO case files, many consider the Rendalsham incident to be the most detailed and world-documented case to date. The strange events were witnessed by dozens of USAF personnel and lasted over a period of three days.

The first incident taking place in the early morning hours of Friday, December 26, 1980. As UFO researcher Dr. David Clark had expressed it, the Rendalsham Forest UFO case is the sole exception of the Roswell incident, the most talked about UFO case in the world. Claims of a cover-up by the US and UK governments have become central features of the incident. Nick Pope, who was a civil servant working on the UFO desk at the British Ministry of Defence between 1991 and 1996, has stated that this is UK's Roswell, the holy grail of uphology, and most UFO researchers would have to agree. Although no one knew, including me, that the case were proved to be more significant than anyone realised. Although I had been following the story through the years, I wasn't familiar with all the details and hadn't really paid much attention to the glyphs that Jim Peniston claimed to have

seen and touched. After studying the glyphs for a short time, I sent a reply to both the uphologist and Wayne Herschel, suggesting that first of all it might be a good idea to look and see if any of the archived crop circle photos match any of the glyphs, especially the triangular ones, if this had not been done already. This was basically all that was said in these discussions. What I didn't know at the time was that the image of the glyphs the uphologist had sent me were modified artworks of the actual glyphs that Jim Peniston had recorded in his notebook while examining the craft he encountered, some of which were remarkably different to the modified image, especially the large circled triangular glyph which hardly bore a resemblance to what Jim Peniston sketched on the notebook page.
