This is Episode 126 of UFO Encounters.
2:03
In this episode, I'm reading from Gary Osborne's next book,
2:07
The Timeless Conception.
2:09
The book will be published this summer,
2:11
so make sure you put it on your shopping list.
2:13
When I have guests on my podcasts,
2:15
I read their books to work out questions for the episodes,
2:18
and when reading these books,
2:20
I always find such amazing information
2:22
that never makes it into the podcast.
2:24
And here, I give you a chance to get a peek into the book.
2:28
I did seek permission to record this extract,
2:30
and the author kindly said yes.
2:33
I'm going to begin by reading from a section titled,
2:36
The Rendleton Binary Code Message,
2:38
Sunday, October 2nd, 1983.
2:42
And this is what Gary has written.
2:46
Sunday, October 2nd, 1983,
2:48
is a day I remember well.
2:50
I was reading through the Sunday newspapers,
2:53
while visiting my parents' home in Reigns Park,
2:57
One of these papers was The News of the World,
3:00
which my father had left lying around.
3:03
My attention was drawn to the front page,
3:05
and the sensational heading,
3:07
UFO lands in Suffolk, and that's official.
3:11
Although it was almost three years after the incident,
3:14
this was the first time the Rendlesham Forest incident
3:17
had made headlines in the national media.
3:20
I remember being deeply interested in the story as it happened
3:23
next to a military base in Suffolk, England.
3:26
Because this was front page news,
3:28
my thoughts at the time were that this military incident
3:32
might one day force a government disclosure on the phenomenon,
3:35
which to date still remains to be seen.
3:38
Typically, the story was short lived in the national press,
3:42
but throughout the next 30 years, I would occasionally follow this case,
3:46
especially as any new developments,
3:48
or new evidence came to light.
3:51
Little did I know some 30 years later,
3:53
I would be personally involved in deciphering a code
3:57
that originated during the incident,
3:59
which would actually provide the reason
4:01
as to why the incident happened in 1980.
4:05
But we shall get to that later.
4:07
At the time when the Rendlesham Forest incident took place over three nights
4:12
between the last hour of December 25
4:14
and the early mornings of December 28, 1980,
4:21
I was an ordinary working-class guy
4:23
with a comprehensive school education living in Peckham, London.
4:27
Two months earlier, in September 1980,
4:30
I had joined the family graphics business,
4:33
and this gave me some stability.
4:35
Before that, I was really moving from one job to another.
4:39
I didn't have a care in the world,
4:41
and was only really interested in socialising with my friends on the weekend
4:45
and having a good time.
4:47
Music had always played a huge part in my life.
4:50
Having learnt to play guitar since the age of nine,
4:53
I later played league guitar in various rock bands
4:55
that were gigging the local pubs and clubs around London,
5:00
Although I was intellectually curious and read a great deal,
5:04
I was quite ignorant about the things that I would later become involved in,
5:09
and really had no ambitions or aspirations as a writer.
5:13
I was a happy-go-lucky guy who took things as they came
5:16
and basically led a free and easy lifestyle.
5:20
However, all that would change on November 10, 1993,
5:25
when I had a life-changing experience
5:27
that was so unlike anything I had experienced before
5:30
that I decided to learn everything I could
5:33
about the phenomenon behind this experience,
5:36
which ultimately led me to a career as a published author.
5:40
This experience has mentioned several times throughout this book,
5:44
and mostly within the context of ancient Egyptian cultural beliefs
5:48
and the esoteric mystical traditions.
5:51
I had no prior knowledge of this experience,
5:53
but once I'd identified what this experience or phenomenon was,
5:58
I soon discovered that since the 1950s,
6:01
others in the West had experienced the same life-changing awakening event in their lives.
6:07
I have covered this experience in my other written works,
6:10
and I've mentioned it in various interviews I've done over the years,
6:13
so I won't dwell on it too much here,
6:16
as this book is not about me or this phenomenon.
6:19
Suffice to say that although, for numerous reasons,
6:23
I have always felt uncomfortable with discussing this experience.
6:27
I am now certain that this experience and what I learned over the years
6:31
as a result of my research into it
6:34
had prepared me for my work on a code
6:36
that emerged from the first night's events
6:39
of the Rendalsham Forest Incident.
6:41
The accounts that follow in this preliminary chapter
6:44
were picked from a large file of documented events
6:47
taken from various notes and diaries relating to my own timeline,
6:52
and it was while going through these notes for this chapter
6:55
that the significance of these events became palpably apparent,
6:59
connected as they are to the events that are going on in the world
7:03
at the present time.
7:09
Almost exactly 20 years to the date when I'd first read the story
7:13
and the aforementioned newspaper,
7:15
I received an email message from a self-acclaimed
7:18
British female uphologist,
7:20
with whom I'd been corresponding with since 2009,
7:24
and who had initially told me she had lived in South Africa
7:28
and was a researcher for the South African Evaluation Centre for UFO reports.
7:33
The message she sent me included a JPEG image
7:36
of several strange pictograms, symbols, or glyphs.
7:40
I was asked to examine these glyphs with a view to perhaps deciphering what they mean,
7:45
adding that they were associated with the Rendalsham Forest Incident
7:49
which took place in Suffolk, England in December 1980
7:53
and was seen on the side of an unidentified triangular craft
7:57
that staff Sergeant Jim Peniston, United States Air Force now retired,
8:02
had witnessed and touched and had quickly sketched in his notebook.
8:07
The uphologists went on to say that she had recently been talking to Jim Peniston
8:12
and that he had sent her the images of the glyphs to look at
8:15
and that she was requesting help on what they could mean,
8:19
adding that the glyphs were also being studied by South African
8:22
ancient astronaut theorist and author Wayne Hershel.
8:27
As soon as I saw the name Peniston, things immediately clicked into place.
8:32
The timing of this was notable because only a few weeks previously,
8:36
I'd watched a documentary on the Discovery Channel about the incident
8:40
which happened over three days during Christmas 1980
8:44
in which an unidentified craft had landed in Rendalsham Forest in Suffolk, England
8:49
close to the twin USAF bases of Bentwater's and Woodbridge.
8:54
I distinctly remembered a young Jim Peniston being portrayed by an actor
8:59
and noted that it was Peniston who had claimed to have touched the unidentified triangular craft.
9:05
As regards the world's UFO case files, many consider the Rendalsham incident
9:11
to be the most detailed and world-documented case to date.
9:15
The strange events were witnessed by dozens of USAF personnel and lasted over a period of three days.
9:21
The first incident taking place in the early morning hours of Friday, December 26, 1980.
9:29
As UFO researcher Dr. David Clark had expressed it,
9:33
the Rendalsham Forest UFO case is the sole exception of the Roswell incident,
9:38
the most talked about UFO case in the world.
9:42
Claims of a cover-up by the US and UK governments have become central features of the incident.
9:49
Nick Pope, who was a civil servant working on the UFO desk at the British Ministry of Defence
9:55
between 1991 and 1996,
9:58
has stated that this is UK's Roswell, the holy grail of uphology,
10:03
and most UFO researchers would have to agree.
10:07
Although no one knew, including me, that the case were proved to be more significant than anyone
10:13
realised. Although I had been following the story through the years, I wasn't familiar with all
10:19
the details and hadn't really paid much attention to the glyphs that Jim Peniston claimed to have
10:24
seen and touched. After studying the glyphs for a short time, I sent a reply to both the uphologist
10:31
and Wayne Herschel, suggesting that first of all it might be a good idea to look and see if any of
10:37
the archived crop circle photos match any of the glyphs, especially the triangular ones,
10:43
if this had not been done already. This was basically all that was said in these discussions.
10:49
What I didn't know at the time was that the image of the glyphs the uphologist had sent me
10:54
were modified artworks of the actual glyphs that Jim Peniston had recorded in his notebook
11:00
while examining the craft he encountered, some of which were remarkably different to the modified
11:06
image, especially the large circled triangular glyph which hardly bore a resemblance to what Jim
11:12
Peniston sketched on the notebook page. This episode I was reading from Gary
