Do you believe in resurrections? They happen every day. But are you willing to listen, to participate, to explore and find newer ways to understand your personal journey? This podcast isn’t about what we study and see through the eyes of religion. My Boy Boy Ernie spoke with me every chance we had together. But this isn’t about resurrecting a spiritual brother of nearly 34 years. This resurrection is that of a writing instrument. Verbal documentation of what some may call a vision quest. Trusting the great mysteries of life. Tools are handed to us to carve out each expectation. This tool was laid to rest inside a forest floor. To experience the elements of reality while connecting with a universe that unconditionally shares its stories. But whose writing it? Welcome to The Resurrection…

Do you believe in resurrections?
I mean, they happen every day.
But are you willing to listen,
to participate, to explore,
and find newer ways to understand?
This podcast isn't about what we study
and see through the eyes of religion.
My Boy Boy Ernie spoke with me each chance we had together.
But this isn't about resurrecting a spiritual brother
of nearly 34 years.
This resurrection is that of a writing instrument.
Verbal documentation of what some may call a vision quest,
trusting the great mysteries of life.
Tools are handed to us to carve out each expectation.
This tool was laid to rest inside a forest
to experience the elements of reality
while connecting with a universe that unconditionally shares its stories.
But who's writing it?
Welcome to the Resurrection.
In doing all of this research about why animals dig up grave sites,
you can't help but put yourself in a position of,
maybe I'm not getting the entire story here.
The entire story being that there's a lot that goes on
that I don't get to see.
There's a lot that I see that doesn't have to belong to what's going on.
Which seems like kind of an oxymoron kind of a vibration.
But the truth is, is that in doing the My Boy Boy Ernie writing instruments,
I put focus on the 34 days after his transition,
not realizing that Ernie was and still is every day.
So why am I closing up shop on this spiritual walk and journey,
this vision quest of sorts by saying, hey, look,
yes, it was in the ground with Ernie for 34 days.
And then after those days, for another 34 days,
it sat inside Ernie's home overlooking the forest right here in South Charlotte, North Carolina.
But in doing the research of these animals that are digging up this grave site,
and the trees falling, the ice, the 10 inches of snow, I can't stop.
I think that this writing instrument needs to go back in the ground.
And that's what I've done with my planning,
is that we're now going to go for the spring months, summer months, and fall months.
And in between each season, there will be a 34 day grace period.
The 34 days representing our 34 years together,
there will be a 34 day grace period where it sits inside what we call the mansion,
overlooking this beautiful forest, the lake, the slow moving stream,
everything that takes place inside this forest.
So really, the journey has just begun, and there's a side of me that goes,
you're never going to use this writing instrument are you?
I don't know, but this is the resurrection.
Tomorrow, while the sun is high in the sky,
the My Boy Boy Ernie writing instrument will be returned to the soil for 34 more days.
And this is based on the solstice or the season of spring.
We'll go through each and every season, and we'll document everything that's taking place.
And one of the things that really has my attention about this,
is that in my 32 years of writing,
I've always credited this forest for being the main energy or the muse behind all of my writing.
The books that have been published, the thousands of podcasts that have been broadcast,
everything that I am, I totally believe, is this forest.
But one thing I have never done until now, I've never called up from the soil, the energy.
And in practicing Native American spirituality, regular spirituality, or universal spirituality,
the one thing that they always warn you of, be careful of where you plant things.
Because when you take from the fruit, what are you planting inside of you?
Do you understand where I'm coming from on this?
Is that I've always credited this earth, this plant, this purpose, this area of land,
as being my source of creative energy.
But I've also wanted to know, who is it, what is it, how is it, where is it?
When will it, and in allowing this writing instrument to spend so much time beneath the soil?
Am I calling something up that I shouldn't be?
That's a tough question for an author, because our imaginations will bring forward all these different forms of thoughts and processes.
But are you ready for the exploration of an artist?
To take a chance on something that might be, could be, is darker than what you could imagine.
And maybe, because of the writing instruments that I've used on top of the soil and never from beneath the soil,
I've done the candy coated plastic bathroom mere smile, or the hidden speech style of writing.
Does it come to us as writers, as being a positive, a mystery, a gentle storyline, a love story?
How does it come to us?
I know how it's received by the reader, but how does it come to the writer?
And that's what's fun about this, as we, tomorrow, while the sun is high in the sky,
will replant the My Boy Boy Ernie writing instrument for 34 days in the months of spring.
The very first day of spring, we're inside what I call the mansion, which is Ernie's home overlooking this forest on the inside.
And today was supposed to be the day that I was supposed to use the My Boy Boy Ernie writing instrument for the very first time.
But then, after the tree fell into the area onto Ernie's resting place, and I took note of all the animals that are trying to get into the soil,
I thought to myself, this isn't over yet.
It hasn't been out here for all four seasons, so we're going to be doing this at least six more times when it comes to doing the transition from the soil to the mansion.
But right now, we're going from the mansion to the soil, and this time around, inside the already badly damaged box that the writing instrument is in,
I'm going to place feathers that Ernie shared with me during our 34 years together, and just as a way of saying, I'm here, brother, I'm here.
It's not as sad as it was the very first time that I stepped in, oh Jesus, this ground really is loose, holy crap.
I didn't erupt in my flow speaking, didn't it?
But I was going to say that it's not as sad as it was when we first allowed Ernie to fly inside this forest.
And now, as I stand here, and I look at the soil, feel the soil, smell the soil, you've got to definitely smell it, because you just don't want anything that's horrible to come and haunt your world.
Even though I do have talked about that, and somebody tried to set me straight yesterday, there, oh my god, there it is.
That's where Ernie is, oh man, I'm really super close.
Hold on, I have to have a moment here, oh god, hold on.
I am where I was back in January, and now, as I was saying, that it didn't feel like that, you know, the same emotion that I had back in January.
It has returned, because I just got to see where Ernie's body is, inside that well, well beautifully designed case.
Okay, the writing instrument is now in the soil for another 34 days, as we enter the very first day of spring.
The Resurrection, it's a true story.
