Jack Hopkins — the truth about my fight | Jack Hopkins. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
Guys, I want to address my fight because I also believe that you guys are not just hating in the comments. I know when it's just hate and I have no problem with hate for people thinking things about my fights and I actually agree with you. I think that there was something wrong with that fight. I want you guys to know wholeheartedly that I had nothing to do with that fight being rigged. If it was rigged, the people who did the matchmaking on this fight are claiming to me that it's not rigged, but I felt the same way. That to me was a real fight. I went out there, I was fucking nervous as fuck, you can see it in the video. I fought a standoffish fight. I was scared to get knocked out. I was nervous after my first fight. I didn't go in there thinking this was a fight that I was sure to win, but I also have the same suspicions.
In my mind, you can ask a songway when I put my arm around him in the ring after that fight. What did I ask a songway? Ask him. I said to him, man, why the fuck did you not fight me properly? Why were you dancing around? Why did you go down? I said to him, I wanted a real fight and I didn't feel like that was a real fight. You see it after I didn't celebrate or get elated or jump around with joy after that fight. It didn't really feel like a true victory for me. I'm proud. I'm proud of myself for going in there. That was a real fight to me, but I do agree with you guys. I think there was something wrong with that fight. I want to explain why I think that happened. We had two opponents drop out during the fight camp, legitimate opponents with audiences. Two weeks before the fight, we had our final opponent drop out and we left it to the matchmakers to sort a fight for that event. Normally I wouldn't respond to hate comments and I just see them as hate, but that's also what I feel. I didn't feel like that was a completely fair fight.
I also feel that was unfair on me in some ways because when I came to the weigh-in, my opponent was overweight and didn't seem to care when I was fighting him in the ring. He didn't seem to be fighting properly and he didn't seem to be experiencing any nerves in that fight. Because I was nervous and I was ready for a true fight. I would never fix a fight. I literally have tattooed on my arm, deaf before dishonor. I would never fix a fight. I would rather go out there and lose. I didn't make a single penny from this fight. My pay per few money from this fight went to my coach. I was not interested in the win or loss of this fight. Of course, I wanted to win, but I wanted to go out there and put on a good show. That's what I always want to do to you guys. That's what I feel boxing is about. It's about two guys going in there and the win is the courage to get in the ring. And fight. And I'm putting it on myself for that. And I feel like it is a win in that regard. But I don't want you guys to kill yourselves defending me in the comments saying that Jack, that fight was 100% legit because I also feel like that guy went down. I feel like a songway went down too easily.
And I feel like he fought in a strange way. A couple other comments to address. A lot of people think I've been training for two years since my last fight. I haven't been training for two years. I was bodybuilding. I've been training for 10 weeks for this fight. So I don't look as good as I should. I'll be the first to admit I probably shouldn't be a pro boxer in the ring. The reason I went pro was because when we're in Thailand, it was easier to go pro and not wear headguards than and do three minute rounds rather than two minutes like they're doing the amateurs. But I totally agree. I'm not a great fighter. But this doesn't mean that I'm not going to continue to box. You can get better at things. And that's what I was aiming to do with this fight. For me, for my team, I was very, very proud after the fight. I felt this and I said to my coach on the way out of ring, man, do you think I really want that fight? Everyone around me says, yeah, Jack, of course you want that fight. That was real because it was real for me. But I also felt the same as you guys. So just want to get that off my chest. If that fight was rigged, I had fucking nothing to do with it.
And I can guarantee you on the next fight. It will be against somebody that has an audience. It won't be a top pro. It won't be somewhere loads of experience. I've got one fight. I've got one fight. I've been back in the ring for 10 weeks. The fact that we fight on the pros does not necessarily make me a pro. It's not a result of the boxing thing. It's just a license that we fight pro and it's on the record. But I'll be looking to fight other people in a similar situation. One or two fights, influencers, that sort of stuff. And I will continue to box is to be the best things that's ever happened to me. That training camp, I wish somebody who had told me that fight was fucking fixed. So I wasn't having fucking diarrhea the whole day from nerves. So I wasn't fucking shit in my pants. And so I could have acted a little bit more convincingly in the ring and not been shit scared and just put them out in the first. But I had no idea that that fight was a fucking fix up. So there you go, that's all I have to say on it. Take it as you will. I want to apologise. It's fucking nothing to do with me. And we'll make sure the next one is a fucking hell of a fight.
I do not care about looking bad. I don't care about losing. I know my boxing skills aren't the best. For me, my whole brand, my whole purpose of this is to take chances to do something that pushes you and challenges you. So you can be proud of yourself and grow as a man. For me, I did that. And I felt robbed by the fact that I didn't get to go in there and have a true fight. That the guy was messing around, being weird, didn't seem nervous. And I think we know why that was. The promoters and the fucking matchmakers won't admit it. They're all telling me not to make this video. Don't make this video, you won fair and square. But that's just what this is what feels right to me. So there you go, Lads. For me, I'm proud of myself for going in the ring. I did not fix that fight. Some of you won't believe me, but that's absolutely the truth. So onto the next one, continue training. I've got a lot of work to do. I've been training 10 weeks for this fight. And I'm ready to go into another. I've got 10 fucking wins to get on that record. And I will do that. However many losses it takes me, I will get that done.
So guys, hope you understand. That's my side of the story. I'll see you guys on the next one.
