The Underworld Has a Map

When the demons in Luke 8 encountered Jesus, they had one request: do not send us to the Abyss. If hell is hell and they were already fallen -- what were they afraid of?   The answer is that the Abyss is not the same as hell. And hell is not one place. The King James Bible translated five completely different words -- Sheol, Hades, Tartarus, Gehenna, and the Abyss -- into a single English word, and the theological confusion has lasted four hundred years.   Today we build the map. Six distinct locations, their occupants, their purposes, their timelines, and what happens to each of them at the end of the story. Once you have the map, Scripture stops contradicting itself and starts making precise, structural sense.
