Tonight on the programme we will be featuring Johnny Dankworth as our vintage bring back the band star and then his gorgeous wife Cleo Lane as our vintage star this evening, all your usual favourites as well, our vintage supper and our vintage double and we'll kick off tonight with a real short tune, there's no business like show business, we know that don't we? The Cowboys, the wrestlers, the tumblers, the clowns, the roustabouts that move the show and don't the music, the spotlight, the people, the towns, your baggage with the labels pasted on the soddest and the horses and the smell the town you've taken from the last

The two became one of Britain's jazzies' best known couples both on stage and in life. Dankworth continued performing and composing for decades only in a nighthood himself in 2006 for his services to music. He passed away on the 6th of February 2010, aged 82, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of music and plenty of recordings for us to enjoy to this present day. This is a really long track but I am going to play the whole thing. It's Johnny Dankworth and Humphrey Littleton with the brilliant Take the A-Train.

I knew it was my mind before I knew it. She was walking next to me singing. Holding my hand just as much as can be singing. We walk on to my door, we walk on to my door then we kiss the little mose. I knew we was falling in love. Yes, I did and so I told all the things I'd been dreaming of. Now we're together till every single day is singing. Do What Did He Did? Do What Did He Did? I will so happy and that's how we're gonna stay singing. Do What Did He Did? Do What Did He Did? Well, I'm hurt, I'm hurt, she's mine. She's mine, I'm hurt, she's mine.

Really, there's a golden chance. Oh, I knew we was falling in love. Yes, I did and so I told all the things I'd been dreaming of. Now we're together till every single day is singing. Do What Did He Did? Do What Did He Did? I will so happy and that's how we're gonna stay singing. Do What Did He Did? I knew we were falling in love. I'm hurt, I'm hurt, she's mine. September's new moon says, clear the clutter, make a plan, and get yourself organised, yes, indeedy. And also, something else that leaves the turning, the evenings are drawing in. And on September the 26th, just a few weeks off, we are going to get a fabulous harvest moon. And do you know what the harvest moon is and always in September? It's quite special when it is a proper full moon, autumn equinox. Look out for that on the 26th of September, you know me in my moon. Here's Sarah Vaughan with the beautiful September song. Oh, it's a long, long one, for me to December. For the days go short, when you reach September,

when the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame. One hasn't got time for the waiting game. All the days dwindle down to a precious few, September, November. And these few precious days, I'll spend with you.

Please, precious days, I'll spend with you. And I'll spend with you. And I'll spend with you. And I'll spend with you.

And I'll spend with you. Well, if you got to start the second hour of the vintage short, lively, you have to choose something by the beach boys. Here they are with I get around. I get a rug driving up and down the same old strip. I got a fan in new place where the kids are hip. My buddies and me, you're getting real well-known.

Yeah, the bad guys know us and they leave us alone. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get a rug with a broom. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. And we never miss yet what the girls we meet. Well, if the guys go steady, because it wouldn't be right to leave the best girl. We'll never Saturday night. I get around. I get around. I get around.

I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. I get around. Liss Cat Lough. 6.7 Ripple Athar Just in time I found you just in time Before you came my time Was running low I was lost

One look, it was released back in 1964 and became one of the Manchester's groups biggest early songs. The song was actually written by Doris Troy and Gregory Carroll and the hollies version reached number two in the UK singles charge. Yes, I know. It is a little trip into the six days but we'll go with it. What way for once? One look, and I feel so I've been loved with you. Oh, oh, I found out how good it feels to have. Your love, oh, oh, say it real. I will be mine, mine, mine forever.

It is time for our vintage start tonight. Now here's an end that really does belong in the musical history books. The wonderful, damn Cleor Lane. Point Clementine Dean Abulac on the 28th of October 1926 in Middle-sex, Cleor became one of Britain's most distinctive jazz singers. And what a voice she had. Deep, warm and wonderfully expressive with an extraordinary vocal range that allowed her to move effortlessly between jazz, blues, pop, and even classical music.

Here she is with my most favorite version, and many of yours I know of unforgettable. Oh, that's what you are. Unforgettable, the need of love. Like a song of love that clears to me, how the thought of you is. Never before has someone who's been born. Unforgettable, the need of love.

Who does things to me never before has someone who's been born. Unforgettable, you and every way. And forevermore, that's how you stay. That's why darling, it's incredible that someone's so unforgettable. Things that I am unforgettable true.

Never before has someone been born. Unforgettable, you and every way. And forevermore, that's how you stay. That's why darling, it's incredible that someone's so unforgettable.

Things that I am unforgettable true. Absolutely beautiful, Cleo Lane and Unforgettable. Now Cleo's career really took off in the 1950s when she began performing with the great British jazz musician John Dankworth. The pair became musical partners and later husband and wife creating one of British jazz's most celebrated partnerships. Cleo became famous not only for her famous voice but also her brilliant scat vocals. Sometimes using a voice almost like a musical instrument and together Cleo and John established the stables, their famous music venue in Buckinghamshire which became a much loved home for live music.

And still is. She negotiated as well, you know. Johnny Dankworth offered her £6 a week in 1951. She said no chance £7 is what she'd want. And on New Year's Eve, back in 1951, it sealed her connection with Johnny Dankworth as they shared a kiss at the New Year's Eve party. Oh, how exciting. Here's Cleo Lane with spread a little happiness. Even when the darkest clouds are in the sky, you must have sighed and you must have cried. Just to spread a little happiness as you go by. Please try.

What's the use of worry and feeling blue when days are long? Keep on smiling through and spread a little happiness till dreams come true. Surely you'll be wise to make the best of every blue day. Don't you realise you'll find next Monday or next Tuesday? Your golden shoes day, even when the darkest clouds are in the sky, you must have sighed and you must have cried. Just to spread a little happiness as you go by.

You must have cried and you must have cried. You must have cried and you must have cried. Surely you'll be wise to make the best of every blue day. You must have cried and you must have cried. Surely you'll be wise to make the best of every blue day. Surely you'll be wise to make the best of every blue day. Don't you realise you'll find next Monday or next Tuesday? Your golden shoes day, even when the darkest clouds are in the sky, you must have cried. Just to spread a little happiness as you go by.

Spread a little happiness as you go by. Spread a little happiness as you go by. You go by. Spread a little happiness as you go by. Brilliant, Cleolein and spread a little happiness. Here's a lovely piece of trivia for you. Cleolein was the first British jazz artist to be made a day. Receiving the honour in 1997, she continued performing well into her later years and built an international following, including a particularly strong reputation. Cleolein sadly passed away last year, July, at the age of 97, but her recordings remain a wonderful reminder of a truly remarkable British voice.

So let's hear a little bit more of that unmistakable Cleolein. This is I've got rhythm. I've got music. I've got my man who could ask for anything more. I've got daisies in green pastures. I've got my man who could ask for anything more. Old man trouble. I don't mind him. You won't find him hanging around my door. I've got rhythm. I've got music. I've got my man who could ask for anything more. Who could ask for anything more. I've got rhythm. And I've got music. I've got my man who could ask for anything more.

I've got daisies in green pastures. I've got my man who could ask for anything more Old man trouble, I don't mind him He don't leave no blues behind him I don't look so I don't find him Hang around my door I'm a filter But I've got music I've got my man who could ask for anything more Who could ask for anything Spend a feeling I've got rhythm I've got some much rhythm Thanks for needing rhythm, that's a stuff to give him I've got music, I've got so much music I've got 17 musicians who need help to use it Old man trouble, I don't mind him You won't find him Hang around my door Listen to some good advice now For them's cheap at any price now I've found out to my delight that the blues don't worry me

Cause I've thrown them all to the devil and the deep blues See he's shoved down to the flat There's rhythm in every note you see So it really doesn't matter about the keep on the drum beat To the drum bone Only got to hear a jazz man play And you'll agree with me by myself I've got old man trouble, I don't mind him You won't find him Hang around or hanging round or hanging round Or hanging round my door I've got rhythm, I've got music I've got my man, I've got the moon, I've got money in the bank And I'm singing this tune of that rhythm I've got music, I've got my man Who got for anything more Who could ask for anything more For all your local news, weather, programming, or to listen to your favourite interviews again

Never had you on my mind

Now you're there all the time Never knew what a mistill I kissed you I kissed you Oh yeah, things have really changed since I kissed you My life's not the same now that I kissed you Oh yeah, boom you got a wheel about you Now I can live without you Never knew what a mistill I kissed you I kissed you Oh yeah, you don't realize what you do to me And I didn't realize what a kiss could be

And I didn't realize what a kiss could be And I didn't realize what a kiss could be And I didn't realize what a kiss could be to me and I didn't realize what a kiss could be. You got a wheel back up now I can't live without you. Never knew what a mistil I kissed you. I kissed you. Oh yeah, I kissed you. I'm Emily Brothers and till I kiss you here on Ribble-Ed then, where we have a lovely old-fashioned supper for you tonight, very simple and inexpensive.

It is the boiled onion supper. All you need is four large onions, two slices of bread and knob of butter, salt and pepper, and one vegetable stock cube. Peel the onions, place them whole in a saucepan with enough water to cover. At the stock cube, a good pinch of salt and plenty of pepper. Bring to the boil then gently simmer for about 25 to 30 minutes until your onions are lovely and soft. You then serve the onions in a bowl with a little of the cooking liquor, a generous knob of butter melting over the top and thick slices of bread for dunking. It is properly humble but very comforting and exactly the sort of supper you would imagine being on a 50's kitchen table. Perfect for these autumn nights. Here's Phil Collins and a groovy kind of love for you.

When I'm feeling good, all I have to do is take a good look at you. Then I'm not so good when you're close to me. I can feel your heart beat, I can hear you breathing in my ear. Won't you agree? Baby, you and me, that groovy kind of love. Any time you want to, you can tell me, to let me run to anytime I want. When I kiss your lips, I start to feel our country control the greenery inside.

Won't you agree? Baby, you and me, that groovy kind of love. When I'm feeling good, all I have to do is take a good look at you. Then I'm not so good when you're close to me. When I'm feeling good, all I have to do is take a good look at you. Then I'm not so good when you're close to me.

Now there seems to matter my whole country, I don't care. Won't you agree? Baby, you and me, that groovy kind of love. Any time you want to, you can tell me, we got a groovy kind of love. We got a groovy kind of love. 106.7 Ripple FM

The things I should have said you're done. I just never took the time. You were always on my mind. You were always on my mind. Maybe I didn't hold you. All was lonely, lonely, lonely. And I guess I never told you. I'm so happy that you're mine. If I made you feel second best, girl, I'm so sorry I was blind. You were always on my mind.

You were always on my mind. Maybe tell me that your sweet love hasn't died. Maybe give me one more chance to keep you satisfied. I'm so happy that you're satisfied. I'm so happy that you're satisfied. There's no things I should have said you're done. I just never took the time. You were always on my mind. You were always on my mind. You were always on my mind.

Maybe I didn't treat you. Why does this love never show? Maybe I didn't love you. Why does this love never show? Maybe I didn't love you. At least, freshly, always on my mind here on Ribble FM. I will be back with you on Ribble FM and our sister station radio burnley 12-1 for lunch all week here between Monday and Friday. Don't forget last opportunity to pop down to the platform gallery to see our gorgeous Hans and Heritage exhibition which is on to 12 September, leaving you now with three lovely trikes for our Lights Out section,

the five settings, Anthony Nule and Gracie Fields with my blue heaven. Also, of course, the fabulous new classic singers are always signing us off with their version of Call Me. It's good night from me and an even better tomorrow. Night out. I'm not a man. I'm not a man.

I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man.

I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man. I'm not a man.

It will be so wonderful when life comes my way. No more lonely eyes. They'll just fade away. Someday will meet somewhere I know. We'll kiss and say, I love you so darling. Surely I can't be so wrong.

For I've waited. Yes, I've waited. So very long. So long my darling. So long my darling. So long my darling. Stay with me. Birds are waiting back to the river. It's a little bit alive.

Night's a falling. No bird calling. What makes the world so round? Nothing but more. When we far will go and evening is not, I'm hurry to my blue blue heaven. I turn to the light. I need to wipe light. We'll need you to mine. Blue blue blue heaven. You'll see that my face am I afraid of falling?

A little now, a little now, where all the food you'll have me and me. And maybe make three. Where happy in my blue blue heaven? When we far will come and evening is not, I'm hurry to my blue blue heaven.

You'll see a smiling face am I afraid of falling? A little now, where all the food you'll have me and me. Blue blue blue heaven.

Blue blue blue heaven.
