Thief's Apology, 15 Years Later

On March 24th, a shop owner in Swansea has gotten an unexpected gift from the past.

15 years ago, someone stole the big yellow sign from outside his international grocery store, Exotic of Foods.

Now, that person sent an anonymous letter confessing to the theft along with a hundred pounds in cash as an apology.

The letter came from a guy who was a student at the time, out drinking one night with a friend.

They thought grabbing the temporary banner would be a laugh, but years later, he realized it caused real hassle for the owner, Imran Ashraf.

Imran shared the note and money on Facebook, saying it brightened his morning.

Locals love the story, flooding the post with laughs and praise, one called it a massive guilt trip that even Interpol could relax over.

Others hailed the thief as honorable for owning up after so long.

The one hundred pounds covers just a bit of the twelve hundred pounds it costs to replace the sign back then.

Imran plans to use it toward a custom gazebo outside the shop for summer cooking videos.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time a petty thief may good on regrets.

Last year, a pub got a sorry card and twenty pounds from a drunk customer who swiped their plant pot.

Stories like these show a little remorse can still surprise us.
