The team is ready and assembled - and joined by K-Mac's Mum! Attention quickly turns to the Herald Sun's Top 50 influential AFL Figures - and where Jay Z placed in that list.
In the Chief's Agenda, Bobby Hill is back at Collingwood, pressure is ramping up at the Saints, and Carlton is under fire for not flying the flag.
Isaac's segment Penthouse or Outhouse is charging up the order as he puts several things in the Outhouse, before Brian Taylor invades the studio to take Jay Z to task.
The Queen's Queries looks at Fremantle's start to 2026 among several topics, then Hawthorn President Andy Gowers is in the box to provide clarity on Dylan Moore and Connor MacDonald's arrest in the USA, as well as their position on playing in Tasmania.
Finally, it's Jay Z's Unpopular Opinions.
Triple M Footy's Thursday Rub is Jack Heverin, Isaac Smith, Kate McCarthy, and Jay Z Clark.

Shut up! The pool is a dribbling!
Dribbling footing starts your wake and early.
Now there's a big more noise.
With every massive moment.
This is all this assured.
This is for in the presence of brightness.
Is the Thursday Rob.
He can refend him he is the queen.
For Reem Hotwater and McDonald's,
dribbling rocks three.
In these strides and staggered stunts
the season two thousand and twenty-six,
we've had a look at all of the teams now.
A couple of times the one thing that's clear,
Hawthorne and Sydney are going to be two of the teams
and the very top end of the table starts a great way
to start round two.
Here at the triple MCG tonight with the Hawks
and the swans that's coming up in about an hour and a half
from now.
But before that, in this uncertain and unsafe world
that we're living in right now,
one thing that you can rely and depend upon
is that the Thursday Rob will be here to start your weekends
40.
Andy Gowers, the president of the Hawthorne fully
fully club will have a chat to us in about an hour
from now.
We've got all the favourites, the queen queries,
popular, unpopular, Isaac Segment,
which has sort of been a bit slow to get going,
but it's gaining a little bit of momentum.
All the good stuff is here to come on the Thursday Rob.
The crew is all assembled here at the triple MCG.
I'm Jack Hever and the queen of Triple M.
Footy, the queen of Channel 7,
the queen of international cricket commentary.
The queen of basically everything is Kate McCarthy.
How are you, Kate Mac?
I've had some competition this week.
There's been a real queen in town.
So it's time that I got my title back at the MCG.
We had another queen out there earlier in the week,
but it is great to be back.
Be concerned with how you opened the show though.
Uncertain and unsafe times will it be?
Have you tried to fill up weightly?
Two electric cars I've got.
So I'm all good.
We'll be walking to work in the next couple of weeks away.
It's going.
Isaac Smith's the four time premiership star.
Is he welcome to you?
Hello.
You're pretty happy with your outfit.
You're rolling tonight as well.
Yeah, I've been a uni-clowhead to toast.
It's good gear.
I'll be showing there more often.
If I have to fill up like,
I'm surprised I'm even here to be honest.
Of course, that much getting in from the series across to my electric cars.
What was the last time you jumped on a train?
Do you do public transport?
I actually really enjoy public transport.
I'm big fan of it if I'm not in Victoria.
That's like most things at the moment.
That voice thing.
Oh, and that wasn't a hit at the beginning.
You heard there is the G-Football Rider of the Harold Sun
and everywhere you go on public transport at the moment,
every bus shelter, every bridge,
you'll see.
Mr Billboard.
Where for Victoria?
Who else?
Who else?
I don't know.
He's plastered around the MCG, isn't it?
It sort of looks like a movie constipation.
Well, look what I've heard.
It looks like you've got to take it after you've been at Clarko's Farm
and you've been stung by a 20-minute movie.
It does the bad edit, because you don't look like that in real life.
Not at all.
It is a bad edit.
It's a bad edit.
It's a bad edit.
It's only 700 of them around the MCG.
So you're right.
You know that popular.
Maybe I'll be honest.
I don't look out.
I sort of see it at the corner of my eye and I tell you not to wait.
It's not a great photo.
Anyway.
Did you or did you not get in a beekeeper outfit with Alistair Clarkson?
Because we saw that in the Harold Sun you told us that it was coming?
Yes.
I didn't.
He gave me a hat like one of those big white hats.
But I wanted to stay so far away from the bees.
I was happy at a distance.
But it was remarkable.
Like you head down, talk through with Alistair Clarkson for a few hours.
And he ends up showing you his bee hives in a beekeeper's suit
and talking about all the times of being stung.
So Lance Franklin had a passion for honey and harvesting honey.
And he said that Clarko should get into it.
Down he's more into the potential of property.
And it was a bit of fun with Clarko.
Did you see all the blue stone that he might have picked up on the corner of the road?
I did see that.
Looks good.
That looks amazing.
It looks a bit of a huge of the property.
That he might have picked up on the corner of the road.
Did he?
What did you know more?
Well, didn't your paper write an article that he'd picked up blue stone on the side of the road
and put it in the back of his suit?
It was your story, I'd say.
I'm pretty sure the article did write that.
The paper did write that.
He thought it was...
What do you...
When someone put stuff out on the side of his shirt?
Hard rubbish.
Hard rubbish, yeah.
Yeah, and he loaders the back.
Fucking like a man who's never put hard rubbish in.
No, we never needed to go through it.
Yeah, loaders the back of the suit with some free glue,
started to go up and got caught.
He was saying Clarko stole.
Google it.
He's blue stone fence.
Now, gentlemen, normally we like to start the rounds footy and we have a bit of fun
and we can sort of stray into some areas.
And I say, gentlemen, we need to be on our best behaviour tonight in the triple-end box
because it's bringing mum to work night.
Tonight, here on the Thursday, Rob came back.
What's going on?
Well, Joe, my mum is in town, mother of the Queen, Queen Mother.
She is in town.
And I thought, you know, what better way to immerse yourself in Melbourne culture?
She's down from Brisbane, so I thought I'd bring her to the footy.
What have you told her about us?
Only the best of things.
And she's already just given her assessment of you guys.
We went and grabbed a coffee just before.
Everyone is so lovely.
And I thought, well, just give them a few minutes.
Well, I've just had a quick bit of good week.
Hang on, can we just stick with this story?
You had your moment, buddy.
Your story's moved on.
Well, that's it.
Well, the thing with Kate's wonderful mum, who we've all met tonight, Jay,
you might have missed this part because you were working the phone.
So she comes in and says hello.
Nice to meet.
Now, Isaac's one, four premierships.
You're the chief football rider of the biggest paper in town.
Yeah.
George is one of the big weeks at Triple M these days as well.
Oh, yeah, what about this?
And of all of the people, the two men, Ashtua walks in.
And Mrs McCarthy says, I'm a big fan of yours.
She's a numbers lady.
I hope he's not warming up the spot.
Is he brought his little cushion?
Yeah, it's here.
He's small, man, isn't he?
Anyway, I've just found an article from Alice Costa, who works at
your paper, Jay.
Yeah.
Alice DeCarque, Clarkson, quiz by cops after helping himself to discarded bricks.
The four-time premiership go, Alice Clarkson has been quiz by police after he helped himself
to some blue stone bricks in Albert Park.
Wow.
Now, I understand you're in Albert Park.
Hard rubbish.
It could be anything.
Yes.
A value.
Yeah.
But it's a very nice row that he's built.
He's always been the bit of a bargain hunter.
Have you ever rolled out your swag and had a few bees around his fire?
I have.
Yeah.
Very good fun.
Yeah.
Well, speaking of your paper, I choose day morning.
I was just having breakfast with the girls.
They were having Nutra Gray in and we were just getting set up for the day and getting our
school routines and all that sort of stuff.
An article bobbed up in my Harold Sun feed.
I'm a subscriber.
I pay for the journalism at your paper.
AFL power list.
Yeah.
2026.
Now, I thought there was only one top 50 Kate and Isaac that happens in the Harold Sun.
And it's written by the chief.
Yeah.
But there's an AFL power list written by Michael Warner and Josh Barnes.
Yeah.
And it talks about those who are the most influential figures in Australian rules football.
Right.
I've just seen rugby leagues in here.
Yeah, around 12.
Yeah.
Rugby league.
Thank you, Peter.
So it starts at the top.
Craig Drummond is the, you know, the new chair of the AFL.
That makes sense and all that sort of stuff.
Now, obviously, we look for self interest straight away.
We look for where, where are we all fit into the scheme of things?
And where are the people that we know?
And our mates, where do they land?
I think we were 51, 2 and 3.
No, I was about to cut off.
Just cut off.
Yeah.
No, I didn't, I didn't.
We saw that at the new chairman of the Triple M and Channel 7 group.
Okay.
Crews is at number seven.
We thought that was a bit low to be honest.
He's number one on someone now.
Absolutely.
We're being honest.
But I scanned and I scanned and I got through the top 10 and I thought he can't be far away.
And then I got to the number 15 and Damien Hardwick's there.
And I'm like, okay, well, the sons have played finals once.
So, you know, he's done a fair bit for the game.
And then I get to Caroline Wilson at 18.
I'm like, well, she doesn't even work at that paper.
And she's number 18.
Very, very good at what she does, by the way.
I get to Zach Butters, who, because he's out of contract,
apparently he's influential.
Like, the players out of contract every year.
Yeah.
The girls had finished their nutrient grain.
They'd done their hair.
They'd brushed their teeth.
They'd gone off to school.
And it was recess before I could find J Clarke at 26 in the AFL power list in his own paper.
You're getting 26.
What is going on?
You think you thought that was a bit low?
You're a top 10 operator, J.
It's your paper.
I thought it was a bit high, to be honest.
Number 26.
No, I like how I'm on one spot above Ross.
Do you honestly think Peter Verlandis at 12 has more power in the game?
Well, then a lot of the people between you and him.
He's keeping the AFL on their toes.
It's fair to say.
I love it.
I think 26 is that right.
That's where I set out.
I started my journey.
David King of 49.
I was wondering where he's laptop work.
That's what I was thinking.
That's what he said.
That's what I was thinking.
That's what I was thinking.
That's what I was thinking.
That's what I was thinking.
That's what I was thinking.
And then Stuart Fox, head of the MCC, he is at.
Just below me.
Number 33.
There.
He's literally changing all of round one and round zero next year.
And he's at number 33.
He won't say it'd have to be in the top three for me.
Just to be honest, we could cherry pick and we could go through this list one by one.
But I think our big issue here on the Thursday rub is that.
And we talk about this a lot.
When we win together, we win.
One of us wins.
We all win.
When one of us loses, unfortunately, we all win.
So we're stuck.
And 26 is a disgrace.
Justice for Jay.
I forget Jay's about his flatters.
Jay's about his flatters.
Gary Lyne, who's two below Dan Gorinch.
And it was the caption that really did be in Kate.
It was once I settled the outrage and I started to, you know, just take a deep breath.
And I thought, well, maybe it's an editorial mistake.
If the headline doesn't get you, the byline will.
And I'm here it is.
Well, I'm thinking, well, maybe, you know, Mick Warner and Josh Barnes have written this article.
And I think maybe they want Jay's job.
And there's a bit of professional jealousy or whatever.
Until I saw the caption.
So at number 25, Dave Matthews fighting an uphill battle in NRL Heartland with dismal AFL support.
At number 26, Jay Clark, Harold Sun, Chief Football reporter in lower case, by the way.
No capital C, no capital F, no nothing.
Award winning newsbreaker with a growing contact book.
Oh, me.
Yeah.
Complete contact book.
But I'll take away.
I'll take away.
No, they did a great job.
No, they didn't.
Nobody didn't.
But to be fair, I'm not even the 26th most intelligent person in my family.
Let alone in AFL.
We need to do right.
This is our challenge.
We need to do a top 50 most influential at Triple M.
I want to see the Triple M.
We do.
We have 50 people.
I want to see the family tree at Triple M.
So JB versus Jason Dunstle, Nathan Brown.
You know what, Jay, as the journalist here.
As the journalist here, I think that's right.
And I think you should do it.
I've done my list.
I think you'll have to do it.
You're doing one list.
You've only got one list, didn't you?
You're on the suggestion.
I think you should do it.
You do it.
I want a top 50.
No, not top 20.
Top 20.
Top 20.
Nice.
You want to be very careful as well.
Are you proud that your contact list is growing?
You've been in the industry for 20-something years.
I'm not sure what happened with that.
That's a little buyer.
Yeah, I thought it was.
It's a check.
Do you tick all this off?
I didn't say it.
The first time I saw it was when my phone started blowing up.
I think Stuart Fox is one of the first to take me.
What are you doing above me?
It does beg there now.
Who is in Jay Clark's contact list?
Other than Alex and Scott Pennerbury.
Who else is in that contact list?
No, that is it.
That's a real freshie.
I haven't heard that one before ever.
And Scott's wondering why Alex is in there.
This is the Chiefs agenda.
Certainly is time for the Chiefs agenda.
I was at Smith in the background.
They have really good news for Collinwood fans.
I feel like we spent the past four nights talking about their inefficiencies and struggles in the Collinwood forward line.
It's hard to see the Magpies, the Mighty Magpies being able to kick a winning score a week to week.
Certainly enough to plant their top four flag in the ground with Jack Buller there and Brody Marchet,
Gorn Mason, Cox, Gorn.
But good news today with Bobby Hill, the Norm Smith medalist, the superstar there in 2023,
Premiership win back at the football club.
So report to the Merge in the past week that he had turned a significant corner.
So, you know, if you believe what you hear, he'd sort of gone down to about 60 kilos
with all the lack of conditioning, lack of fitness work.
He hadn't been at the club for the best part of six months.
Remember, he didn't play in last year's final series, but back at the club today,
not necessarily training, reconnecting with his teammates and his coaching staff,
and been training sort of offsite in recent times.
Now, I wouldn't be expecting him to play a senior game for months.
He is a long way away, but you guys would agree that this is a positive step for him
and a really good news for the Colingwood Football Club, who lack his goal-scoring power.
Yeah, definitely. It's good news to hear. He's back at the club.
And obviously, when he starts to, I guess, consistently turn up for training regularly,
he will earn that respect back of obviously the trust.
Yeah, the trust and the respect, I think, as well.
Yes, trust, but also the respect to be selected and the respect to honour the integrity of selecting a team.
Yes, they're crying out for a forward that has his potency.
I go back to the point, though, like letting go of Brody Mayachek.
I don't think they really realised how much that was going to damage their forward line.
I think the players that they accepted to keep and hinge their forward line on,
I don't think are the caliber of Brody Mayachek, and I think they are really starting to see
what an important player he was to their system and to offer what they could.
But great news to hear that Bobby Hill is back at Colingwood and will resume training soon.
So with that in mind, does it make it even more disappointing then, from a Bobby's perspective
that they desperately need him out there and...
Oh, I just... Yeah.
It's just... It's so interesting that with what's...
Oh, here we go.
With what's going on here in...
I hope Bobby's getting all the help he needs and we want to see him back on the field.
I'm as big a Bobby Hill fan as anyone in the competition.
I love what he brings to the game.
I think he's now with players leaving for personal leaving.
I love how the industry supports them and that, but the whole that it leaves in the club
and you have 40 other players there absolutely bust in their gut to do whatever they can for the club.
And then you have a player that's doing this and then they're isolated at turning the team.
Yeah, I want to see Bobby Hill back and I want to see him he's best,
but it has hurt the Colingwood Football Club.
Yeah, a bit of heat on the Saints early in the season.
They were the buzz team in the off season.
It's only early, but it hasn't started super well.
Pressure growing.
Zero and two after losses to Melbourne.
That game I absolutely loved in Colingwood the week before.
And they've been done different ways.
First, the Stodgy Gaming against the Pires and then the shootout against Melbourne.
And you love watching the two pickets play footy,
but after splurging on Nasda keeping and spending big on Tom DeConning,
the spotlighting tensorfires.
And with JWS, this weekend, Brisbane the weekend after that,
there is the prospect of them being zero and four.
The journals turned up.
The Ross Lines press conference today.
So good.
Have a listen and tell if everything's get a little bit tasty.
Well, it's not a job.
We just support people.
That's why I feel football is abnormal.
It's not like what you do.
You're not under scrutiny.
You choose I feel football.
You choose stress.
You choose anxiety and you choose winning the arena.
I'm happy to be in the arena.
I know what's coming.
But you've got to write your own story.
And traditionally, both those players have written really strong AFL stories.
So, but all that is good is our next moment.
So, the moment you don't handle the stress and anxiety,
it's time to give it away.
You've got to keep learning into it.
That's why it's AFL and tight performance and it's abnormal.
If you want normal, you step the other side of this microphone,
the other side of the fence on the ground.
And you pursue mediocrity in your life.
These guys are pursuing excellence.
And with that comes a lot of critique.
Mediocrity was strong.
Oh, I love it.
I love it.
I think you pursue mediocrity.
But that's...
Tell a doctor that they're mediocrity.
That's Ross up for the fight.
Yeah, and I said I'm a Bobby Eels number one fan.
I think I'm Ross's number one fan.
We get angry at a coach when they give nothing in a press conference
and he's decided to shoot for the stars.
Yeah, that's a mere study.
And so, he's gone at a bat for his players to take us into the locker room, you two.
What would it be like in the St. Kilda environment this week?
Yes, they've paid a lot.
But clearly Ross is backing his troops to respond.
They've been sloppy up forward.
They think the execution has been...
Well, they've had the inside 50s to execute into win games.
Football, I wouldn't be as concerned as what the score.
The latter's showing.
I think they've improved in a lot of areas.
And they're going to be a much better football side at the back end of this year.
Why Ross has done that press conference and the way he's operated today?
It takes all the heat off the players.
Now, all we're doing is talking about Ross.
Yeah, I completely agree.
They've got, yes, we've talked about the wholesale changes.
That's going to take time.
The hardest thing, one of the hardest things in football,
is that jelling between your mids and your forwards
and that kick inside forward 50.
And that's for a number of reasons.
It's for kicking goals, but it's also for defending the field.
If you're not all on the same page, if you're not sure of that position,
Rowan Marshall for the first game was playing as a forward,
because that's his new role within that team.
He ends up out of the team with concussion.
That's the first time he would have played those many minutes as a forward.
They're all learning...
They don't have Max King down there, who's their key forward,
that they want down there.
And then they've also got...
There's a lot of things to play out.
Two games in.
All these people that are saying,
Oh, Naz has been overpaid.
All of this.
It's two games, guys.
Like, settle down.
But the money's a relevant.
Exactly.
You've got to spend the money to get the list to do what you need to do.
If he doesn't sign, the free agents they don't attract.
There's no hope for what they're dreaming of this year.
It's going to take a little bit of time,
but I thought the first game was classic Ross line.
It's a defensive slog between them and Collingwood.
I think it was clear the next week that it was Collingwood that made it that way.
Not some kilter.
And that was a shootout with Melbourne.
That's still not to win that.
They played really well.
They scored points.
Yes, they leaked points,
but you've got to be willing to do that to score points.
So, yeah.
I think, yes, Owen II is not where they would have wanted to be.
They've got some tough games coming up,
but I don't think Hope is a lost person.
And that's a Ross master class.
It's the press conference.
Yeah.
He had his boxing gloves on.
He said, if Naz has got a rest deep forward,
he's not then going to the bench afterwards.
So, that is a learning curve for him.
And that's part of that is what he's learning and understanding about being the man now.
He hasn't been the man.
He's out of free swing at it.
Now he's the expectations and the responsibilities lie.
I was fascinated to hear Luke Hodges comments on flying the flag
because he had a crack at Jacob Weidering
for not jumping in in that game against Sydney
and defending his teammates.
Harry Dean did get involved in the push and shove.
Jacob Weidering did.
Where do we stand on the flag?
Is that a thing anymore?
Or not?
Does it count?
I think it's a matter.
It really depends on where you football clubs are.
I was fortunate enough to be captain by Hodges
and you were under no illusions that if something happened,
Hodges would be the first one there to look after you.
Jordan Lewis would be the next one there to look after you.
Greg Birch would be the one there after him to look after you.
So, I played in a side that had aggressive human beings
and you felt so much bigger and stronger being out there with them.
And I looked at Carlton and I saw that vision that Hodges highlighted
and they have young kids running around there
and the culture of that side doesn't resemble a premiership-looking side.
So, is Jacob made a mistake?
I don't know if Jacob's made a mistake
because the industry's gone about not doing all that stuff.
But as Hodges captain,
it was expected of us to be in there straight away
and that's what built our culture.
And if Carlton wanted to change their culture,
then you want to see your vice captain in flying the flag.
You don't want Harry Dean the first game
and I have to go in there and do it.
So, I'll just present another side to that.
If there's someone going back with the flight
in their defensive 50, Carlton,
do you think Jacob Weedering's coming through and crashing the pack?
Yes.
Does he do it in that way?
Is that how he flies the flag?
He doesn't get involved in push and shove.
He's not that kind of player.
But does he, if you're coming back and you're in his path,
he takes you out and you feel it?
I think the thing that Hodges was also saying
that sometimes things are uncomfortable for you as an individual
and you've got to be able to step outside of that.
Jack, I would have jumped in.
I'm not flying.
We jumped in for you.
For Reem Hotwater in McDonald's,
Triple Am rocks footing.
Who's a footy hit?
And who's in the sh**t?
Shot's mighty or does that know?
It's Isaac Smith, penthouse or outhouse.
I can't help but notice he's either this speaking of being in the penthouse.
This is getting further and further up the run down the way this segment.
What about that now?
This is a real 710 job when we started.
And South Australia have come in.
We've got everyone on board.
Well, we've got a bit of a,
we're going to be bringing a bit of craft today.
And at the end, I'm sure you've all come with your own penthouse and outhouse
and I want you to throw them all at me.
But I'm just going to run through my list for this week.
I haven't been this excited watching football for a long time.
Have a listen to our Triple M team call the troll pickets first go.
They're not going to have full run.
Run, run, run, run.
Have a look at Pickett go.
Has the bounce.
Has the second bounce.
Watch this now.
Has the second bounce.
Look at this ball.
Have a look at that.
Brilliant.
Prevent the wind.
It started the blind turn from next goal.
And ended with one of the goals of the year from the troll picket.
So our man Knife called it and called it very well.
Daisy in the background just adding a bit of color.
But how good was it to see the troll picket just play with Flair
and take it on.
Have a running bounce when he had three players.
That's, that's, that's, that's footy at its purest.
Love it.
He's going to be a serious player for the Melbourne football club as well.
Yet a few other opportunities and one where he's sort of not sure whether I have a shot
and then had his cup in the square so decided to pass it off.
But he's going to be exciting to watch.
And there's the whole gameplay.
It was everything about Melbourne.
Yeah, it was awesome.
Wasn't it?
Cheeseboards were flipping all over the MCs there.
Fans rose to their feet.
I mean, it wasn't, the pickets were great, but it wasn't just them.
It was their whole brand, their whole style.
They tough viewing for the David's fans past couple of years.
Well, let's throw him out of the snow for a little bit longer
as well if he keeps playing like that.
But it is a bit of a Melbourne theme in the penthouse.
And I've gone max gone.
And he's very just not triple M at the moment.
Have a listen to him on Russia.
I'm going to keep my power to draw here, I think.
No, I'm one of if not the biggest time to go in fan.
I think he's a star.
I think he's I think he's worth the money.
Particularly you got to pay that sort of money to try and get someone away from a club.
I understand the world we're in.
I think he's going to be a good player for a long time.
Yeah, he's not triple M.
Talking himself to our max gone.
He's an eight time ball Australian.
Will be nine time ball Australian this year.
And to be honest, Max, that's bullshit.
You should be taking.
You should be taking the lead of our man.
I'm Jack here from the best corner in football.
So you need to spend a little bit of time with Max Jack
and you just need to tell him how to talk himself up
because you're saying of all these people in the box.
The one that talks themselves up the most is Jack.
Well, I haven't said on the best.
That is rich.
You actually beat me to it.
Well, Jack, Jay's at 26 in his own paper.
So, you know, I just talked himself down a little bit.
But we're getting to the best stuff here, the outhouse.
And we're going to start number one.
We're just going to have a little listen to the Arizona police
because they're going to go in the outhouse this week.
We've seen this thing.
Check.
They've just like.
They climbed up there.
They've climbed up for three minutes.
And they're resting spending the night out.
What?
That's where the name Joe will be up with the out in a little bit.
In hell.
He said this thing the whole night ago.
Well, the whole night.
He really deserved it.
Well, so it's surely other things going on.
It's worse than that.
Now, you'd all love to have a mate like Jack Screamshore.
Just really tried that out there.
But you know, you've done your nares and you're in a bit of trouble.
But on with Jackie, there's over 20,000 on average,
over 20,000 murders in America a year.
And they've got some.
Well, I thought when they were in the sizzle,
if they must have been 15 floors up, I see the vision.
Or I can I'm taller than how I work.
The jump down.
The vision was actually very underwhelming.
Yeah.
For all the story.
The vision made it less of a story.
Well, the way I would handle it is.
Come on, boys.
Out you get.
Yeah.
There's definitely a world where they can cops just say, boys.
Mugger off.
Yeah.
Maybe not in that world.
Yeah.
Number two in the outhouse this week is that we sat here last Thursday night.
Number two in the outhouse.
Number two in the outhouse.
Who?
Thank you.
We sat here last week and we watched a Richmond side that should have beaten
Carlton.
And Tom Lynch was miked up for Channel 7.
So let's just have a little bit of a listen of the audio.
Hey, how good does Peter get back then?
Yeah, really good.
Oh, I can roll.
That's going to tomorrow.
Yeah.
Maybe we can.
Let's go.
Pressure.
Let's ramp it up.
We can celebrate it.
Get everyone up and down.
All right.
Let's celebrate it early.
Now, Tommy, like, yeah, great leadership.
All that jazz shit.
You're really putting your best foot forward.
But we found some exclusive audio.
Turn it over.
And get the G.
It's the two big ones in the middle.
So there's one teammate that's not hopefully happy with Lynch.
Not kicking straight.
He should have won the game.
We've got a little bit more audio here, Jay.
Jesus, Lynch.
We told you the ladies are the sons.
And then one last bit of audio, Jack.
So, Tom Lynch, come on, mate.
Yeah, the chance to win the game.
You kick two goals, seven.
You kick three goals, six.
You win the game.
Well, the story's not so cool to this week.
It's Carlton.
So I think Michael Voss was a very happy man.
I'm very thankful for Tom Lynch last week.
There's one more person to go in the outhouse this week.
And North Korea just had their election.
Okay.
Kim Jong-un won the election.
Yeah.
One with a total vote percentage-wise of 99.3%.
My concern is for the 0.7%.
There's 26 million people in North Korea.
So there's over 400,000 people that didn't vote for Kim Jong-un.
I'm just worried about their welfare.
It sounds like a legit vote too.
Yeah.
Only 0.7 would have said that.
This is the same Kim Jong-un that had 13 birdies
in his first game of golf.
That's the same person.
Yeah.
Well, he's had 18 halloumons in one round.
I would love to see him come up against Donald Trump in a game of golf.
Are we still on triple M?
Yeah.
By the way, what do we think of Isaac's craft?
Bit of feedback for him?
We think it's not bad.
I like the prep that had gone into it.
I do like that.
We can get better.
It had sort of like Joe the cameraman.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Camp Old Pound Throw.
Any other nominations for Penthouse or Outhouse this week?
I've got a nomination for Penthouse.
They have announced this week that the Marvel Roof will be open
for Twilight and Night Games.
I think it makes perfect sense.
So let's give the AFL a clap for using common sense and getting there.
I like it.
Roof open at Marvel can be in the Penthouse.
Big fan.
Nice.
That's you, Joe.
And I'm definitely from popular.
Oh, so you're just opting out of this segment basically.
Okay.
So you don't want to partake in someone else's segment?
You just want to partake your own basically.
Can I can I give a perspective penthouse?
Yeah.
I just want to time capsule now towards the end of the season.
For all of Sydney's stars that they've got.
And they've got Aerogold and Anisa Keenie and Chad Warner and Charlie Karno.
By the end of this season I think Dustin Mack and Ernie
might be almost a penthouse operator.
Top 50 players in the competition over the last 20 games or something.
He's a star on the rise.
He's got to remember that one.
He's got a big game tonight to play.
I like it.
With Haney and Gordon out, he's very important.
James Jordan is another who might be carrying a heavy load in the engine.
He won't be a penthouse operator.
No, I don't think so.
I don't know.
Tag is getting a penthouse.
I think we might have a very special guest join us for a penthouse.
Brian Taylor, join us.
The voice of Triple M 40, how old are you, BT?
Hello.
I'm just going to say I've been here for 15 minutes.
I've seen Kate and Isaac contribute.
Jack, I've seen you host magnificently.
Thank you.
G30.
Jay, have you said a word yet?
You have...
What is wrong with you since you have become the Goliath at the HHS?
You now give Triple M nothing.
It was...
One word answers.
The AFL power list...
Oh, yes.
Here we go.
How we haven't done enough of this already?
Who does the power list?
Mickey Warner and Josh Barnes are great list.
And are they great mates of yours?
Not anymore.
Because they've got you at number 26, mate.
Now, that's puffed the chest stuff in there.
Yeah, I think 26.
But as we said...
This is bizarre that Jay-Z is having such influence and...
Where would you have had me, BT?
I would have not had you in the top 100, but...
Because...
What happened he blows you up?
Well, well, well, well, well...
Harold's son now buys it anymore.
That's not true.
The biggest selling paper in the country...
Well, it used to be. It used to be a ripper.
And now it's just gone off a bit.
But anyway, Jay, look, I don't know.
Are we still paying Jay?
We are.
We're still paying Jay, are we?
Surely you're going to reduce rate.
You're being paid by the work.
Is the chemistry not in here good?
Is it not good in here, mate?
I'm looking forward to Ando's next story about you.
It's been two weeks after we've had an article...
It's sounding...
A victory in here.
Very jittery.
I hate not sure whether to talk to Jay and Jay's not sure...
...the responder Jack.
Is he doesn't give a shit?
He doesn't care.
What is going on in this box tonight?
I don't think everyone liked Ando's...
...right-ups in the last few weeks to do.
Who's Ando?
What's he written about?
I'm looking forward to his 700th article on you, mate.
Ah, okay.
And your 1,250th article on Scott Pendelbrough.
Wow.
You got another 1,250th article on Scott Pendelbrough.
Oh, you don't.
Jesus, he's breaking the game.
Oh, mate, you've been...
You've got your hand up his back.
You're only free.
Thank you for stopping by, Brian.
Nice to see you.
It's not me you have to deal with.
If you take away from the Queen's query, you won't be happy.
Quiz question for you.
Working out.
Rampy will play on Gunnston.
35 and 34.
35 and 34.
Worker that between you.
See you later.
No, it's a good one.
What are we working out?
Go to the break.
Quickly before this becomes an issue.
Go to the break.
Don't worry about it.
I don't know what the answer is.
Oh, yay!
Royalty has entered the chat.
Kate McCarthy is the Queen of Triple M40.
Please be upstanding for her Royal Minus.
We love it a bit of me time.
This is the Queen's query.
All right, let's get straight into it,
because we don't have long,
because BT's hijacked half a segment.
So straight into it, we're not here to muck about.
First of all, I want to get to free mental.
So last week, they gave up a 35-point lead to Jolong.
Couldn't quite run it out.
Did we see enough from free mental?
I'm pretty big on them.
I think they've got what it takes this season.
Did we see enough from them last week
to say that they are on the right path
and they should be a force to be reckoned with this season?
I'm glass half full on the dockers.
I know it was a disappointing capitulation,
but I thought what they produced in the first half was strong.
I've got them finishing top form,
still buying the dockers stock.
Yeah, I'm all over him.
I think they're going to be a very good football side.
I didn't love their coach coming out after the game
and talking about not playing a game.
I don't think it matters.
You've come into your first game of the year.
You've got a 50-point jump on Jolong down at Jolong,
sink the slipper in.
Don't worry about the draw and how the fixtures all set up.
Yeah, I agree with all of that.
I'm chips in on free, by the way,
so I think they can win the whole thing.
Good.
There's a rubber all buying free mental dockers.
I like that.
All the stocks are put along.
They aren't doing too well.
Let's get on to the point though that their coach did make.
So opening round, here's a few things
that have come up this week.
So eight of the 24 rounds this season
will be affected by buyers.
There is 18 days between Hawks next game.
So tonight, then they have 18 days break before their next game.
The other one is, I feel like tomorrow night
could be a real question mark around this round zero
and who's played what?
So we've got Adelaide coming up against the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs have had two good hit outs.
Yes, the Giants were disappointing,
but the Bulldogs made the most of that and smashed them.
They had a very good hit out in round zero against the Lions.
Then you look at the other side of the equation.
You've got Adelaide playing the pies on the weekend.
Getting the job done, yes.
That's one game that they've played compared to the two of the Bulldogs.
Opening round, how do we solve this problem?
Because for me, it is a big problem.
It makes a lot of sense to go with a more traditional opening round,
doesn't it?
Because the latter doesn't make sense.
You're right, the buyers are all over the place.
Is there a way that the AFL can just launch nine games in round one
and then somehow give GWS the love and exposure
and Sydney as well in the early rounds,
whether it's a series of home games or big games on a Thursday or Friday night?
I think there's a way both can coexist.
Well, I think Ken Hinckley nailed it this week,
where he said you can play it over two weeks.
Yeah, that's the obvious one.
That's the obvious one.
You need a highlight in New South Wales and the end Queensland.
I'm obviously a New South Wales person, so I'm biased to that.
But if you genuinely want to grow the game outside of Victoria
and sometimes Victorians struggle to see that,
you need to do these things.
The other thing is in the middle of the year,
this one shits me most.
Have the buy over two weeks.
We don't need to extend the buy during the year.
Let's get as many uncompromised rounds as we can get.
I agree with all of that.
It's opening fortnight for me.
I think that's what it should look like.
The only reason, the only problem with that is
if you have opening round first
and then you've only got four games in round one.
But you just keep it as round one.
Yeah, that's just round one.
Round one starts in New South Wales.
It means the second week of football there's only four games.
And that's arguably a more spluttering start.
Or do it over 10 days.
Don't do it over two weekends.
Start on the Wednesday or the
and highlight three or four games that you need a highlight.
Yeah, I think having two games and having 18 days break
is as much of a question mark around how teams are supposed to continue
with momentum and management of players and things like that.
This time last week we were here.
Richmond should have won the game.
We all agree, I think.
They should have beaten Carlton.
Has the media been a little bit too kind on Richmond this week?
Do we think if that's another club
that potentially should have gone out and beaten the Blues?
And yes, the Blues are the storyline out of it.
They were always going to be.
But has things been a little bit too kind on Richmond
and what they sort of gave up, I guess, this time last week?
No, I think Tom Lynch has copped it.
I think he's copped the Bunsen Berder to be honest.
On two goals, seven, there's been criticism of his ill discipline
and the pushing and pushing is a pony into the post.
Essentially, he kicked his team out of that win.
So I think it hasn't been on Richmond,
but it has been sharp on Tom Lynch.
Yeah, I'll agree with you, Jay.
I thought Richmond played very good football.
And to go after the team as a whole or the coach,
I thought they played a game that was superior to what Carlton played.
It's just...
They should have won.
Good football is good kicking and they didn't kick well.
All right, a tactical one for you, Izzy.
Let's get into the nitty-gritty of tonight.
So we've got a team like Hawthorne that loves to use their high-half forwards.
Probably the hardest running in the game.
They spread the ground. They make it so hard to defend.
But then you've got Sydney who had some genuine superstars of half back
and have done the first two weeks.
That's where they generate a lot of their attack.
And I know a lot of teams do.
But last week, their three top meters gained were Bice,
Blakey and McCartan off the half-back.
Yeah.
Is that where tonight is won and lost?
The high-half forward for the Hawks,
versus the half-backs of Swans.
I think it is.
A little bit in...
I don't think Hawthorne's game gets up and going unless they're half forwards or in the game.
I don't think it's important for...
It's not as important for Sydney to have their high-half backs going well.
But Hawthorne certainly need their high-half forwards getting up and out
and at the MCG, spreading the ground, spreading the wings,
getting as many uncontested marks as they can.
Against Sydney everybody else, I think that's 75 uncontested marks.
And if Sydney can stop that, they win the game.
Who do you think gets the job done then?
The high-half forwards or the half-backs?
I think the high-half forwards get it done.
What do you think?
I think the intriguing thing for me is what you allow Hawthorne to do.
For 157 marks last week, you cannot obviously allow them to do that.
I would expect Sydney to straight away be a little bit more one-on-one
not allow the chipping around.
But I think Sydney will prioritise what marks they do give them better
than what Essendon did. Essendon gave them everything so they could do what they wanted.
I think they will force them a little bit wider and protect the corridor a bit more.
Therefore have some help side-slide and be able to defend the ground clearly
better than Essendon could.
And then I see if they get a turnover.
You guys like Bice, Blakey and McCartan, I'm just going to get it and they're going to go.
I want to ask you after the break, how concerned you are about the Bombers, Jack?
For Reem Hot Water in the Donalds, Triple M, Rock Sweety.
We are joined in the box by the President of the Hawthorne 40 Club, Andy Gowers on Triple M.
We're a bit of a step down, Andy, from Royalty that you've been dealing with this week.
So thank you for lowering yourself to be with us tonight.
No, Jack, I wouldn't say that. I'd say you're on the same level.
Well, everything about Gowers' life is Royal Melbourne,
maybe it's quite a Royal, there's Royal that.
It doesn't hurt, I suppose.
What are you expecting tonight?
I mean, it's been a bit of everything to start the crowd-wise and support-wise,
what are you expecting to see?
Yeah, I think the crowd will be pretty good.
I mean, the swans are in great form to zip.
And, you know, they're a great side-world coached, well-led.
We are coming off a pretty good game last Friday,
which was good for us to turn things around from the previous week.
So I'm expecting a really fierce contest.
And, of course, I'm, you know, what I'm hoping for.
But I think in terms of the crowd that comes in,
I think they'll see a pretty good show of 40.
We're looking forward to it, and it's been a big fortnight for you,
or a footy club, because you obviously had the big news about
Dylan Moore, respected leader within the Hawke's organisation.
And Connor McDonnell, in significant trouble
with the law over the scissor-lift escapades over there in the US.
What did the club hang on to this news?
Why wasn't it more transparent?
Pretty simple answer that one, Jay.
It was based on legal advice, because it was a live legal matter at the time.
And it is technically still a live legal matter.
There's a little bit to play out, but we had pretty clear legal advice,
not to go public with it.
But it still came out anyway, right?
And don't the players have to carry that anxiety?
Well, yes, and they did carry an anxiety,
and I suppose if you're in their shoes, you probably would too.
And in some ways, the fact that it did become public,
it was always going to become public at some point.
And when it did, wasn't in our control, that's true.
But I think when it did, I mean, I think you saw the result
in terms of those two boys last Friday, they just seemed to play
without any shackles on.
And so in retrospect, it probably was good timing for them
for it to come out and deal with it, face it,
and then get on with playing 40, which is what they love doing.
Yeah, in Morris' case, you could see, round one was up at Spotless.
You could see he just wasn't playing to the level that he needed to
and what he played last week.
It's amazing when mentally you can get right.
And that's what it looked like.
More he did, moving on to the game tonight, Grail, a massive game.
But there's not another game for 18 days.
I know.
So how do you play that?
We've noticed.
It's like a mini holiday in the start of the season.
It's a lot of Royal Melbourne.
Yeah, Royal Melbourne.
It's good for me.
Anyway, it's your Friday, your Friday.
Good for me.
But no, in terms of the players, I mean, it is a strange one
because it's such a big break early on in the season
with having only played what would be now three games.
So yeah, it'll be a little bit of a break,
a little bit of a reset, then back into normal training,
albeit we're not going to play the cats until Monday week.
So would you, sorry, would you abolish opening round?
Do you feel like, would you,
would you just have all 18 teams played nine games?
Is the AFL made a mistake there?
I don't think they've made a mistake.
I mean, it's like anything.
You give something a go and you test the waters
and you see what it's like.
And the original idea is to give the Northern States
more prime time and it's definitely done that.
But I think we're moving towards opening round
being every team played.
I think that probably makes sense.
Have you got a memo on it?
No, haven't got a memo on it.
That's my personal opinion that's just that.
It's not a joke.
It's not a stupid joke.
That sounds like a stupid joke.
No, that's my personal opinion.
I think we're, I mean, the fact that we had calling
that St. Kielder is an indication, I guess,
that the AFL is thinking.
I don't want to speak for them.
But I presume they're thinking, well, maybe it makes more sense.
If we can get access to grounds.
Now, maybe it's played over, you know,
a longer period than one weekend.
Maybe that's a solution if cricket still has a stranglehold
on a ground or two or three.
Because I know ground availability is one of the challenges.
Yep.
So they have to work through a whole range of things
that are not as simple as why can't everybody just play
on the same weekend, you know, together?
So it may not be that easy.
Now, you guys obviously played opening round.
Do you think, and we've heard a few coaches come out
post-round one talking about the ability to obviously
have played two hit outs up until this point now.
Our team has only played one game.
Now you have this big break.
Do you think from a league perspective,
it doesn't make as much sense to fixture the way
that it is this year?
And it would make so much more sense if every team was
to just play from that opening round.
Yeah, look, that's my personal view.
I think it probably does make more sense.
And, you know, not everybody sees sense the same way.
Some people see it as common.
Some people see it as uncommon.
But I think it's common sense that we move to that place
as long as we have access to the ground.
So I think that's probably the biggest hurdle.
Andy Gow is chatting to us here on Triple M footage.
A Clark, Kate McCarthy, Isaac Smith, Jack Everett.
Now, you've just built this amazing facility
that you're now using as your high performance base.
I drive past it all the time.
It's up on the hill and it drops in.
It looks wide.
Love to.
Actually, we'll go to Royal Melbourne after that.
Well, I know.
It's near the sand.
What I am interested to know,
is I'm sure that you spoke to the players
and got their feedback and all that sort of stuff
from your input on what they would like.
What was the weirdest request you got?
No, they spoke to our generation.
What we would like.
They feel the next generation.
And Jack Gunson's the only player from that era.
You're getting to experience it.
I started to contract in 2016
and was promised I'd be in that state.
Oh, well, you left it.
You couldn't.
I was actually able to play.
Actually, well, it was.
Which do we play now?
Yeah.
It was part of the initial AFLWP
that that would be built.
I didn't last that long on.
Anyway, what was your question?
Did you have any weird or sort of strange requests
from anyone about what you wanted in that place?
Oh, look, I reckon one of the funnier ones is
the men's and women's changing rooms are mirror images.
They are exactly the same.
Even though the W list is smaller,
there are less players on the list.
There are same number of lockers.
Exactly the same dimensions, et cetera.
The W players wanted a catch in their changing room.
And the boys didn't want a catch
because they wanted to play cricket.
But now they've decided.
That's a long standing tradition as well.
Yeah, but you'll be interested in this easy
because now they've decided the boys
that we haven't really been playing cricket.
Now we want a cat.
So the W have shown them the way to go.
So that's probably the funniest one.
But look, other things were probably less play driven
and more high performance driven.
So for example, there's a magnesium pool,
a hot pool, a cold pool.
So all those three phases and a sauna
and a whole range of other things
that most other clubs would have if not all other clubs.
But yeah, the high performance team, the coaching team,
I'll give you another little anecdote actually.
We did learn from other clubs
who've done these types of developments before us.
So for example, we were looking initially
at design for the coaches to sit in separate offices.
There's a lot of space there.
So every assistant coach could have had their own office.
But the feedback from other clubs was,
don't do that because you don't have enough cross-pollination
of ideas and questions.
And oh, what do you think about there?
And so have a more shared space for the assistant coaches
to sit together and work better together.
So that was something that we learnt from other clubs
having gone down the pathway before us.
One thing, Jack, that our generation didn't ask for
was a pass-players bar so we could go out
and watch players trying and stuff.
Which didn't get legs.
Well, there's no pass-players bar,
but there is a pass-players room
with a big boardroom table
and they have their meetings there and so on.
And I wouldn't describe it as a bar,
but I think there's a bar fridge here.
Andy, it was interesting speaking to Oscar Allen
about a month ago.
We described the famous press conference
where he essentially had to apologise
to the West Coast Eagles fans
for meeting Hawthorne Coach Sam Mitchell's
the worst day of his life.
Never wanted to watch it again.
He completely shattered by the whole experience.
Zach Butters is up this year
and Hawthorne is a club who's into him.
So what's your advice to Sam Mitchell
about engaging with this star free agent
in a manner that's not going to become national news?
How do you go about that again?
Meet in a theatre where it's dark.
And don't tell anyone.
Every club meets with the people
that they need to meet to see whether they're interested.
And you have to have human interaction
to work out whether it's a good fit for them
and a good fit for you.
So these conversations happen.
I think we've been naive to suggest they don't.
And look, that was an example
of one that did become public.
And it played out,
and it would have been a bit of a toll
for Oscar to carry by the sounds of things.
So look, these things happen.
And yeah, keep it as private as you can.
These are just scars.
Just for Kate Jumpskin,
I thought I was very poorly handled by West Coast last year.
And I think the industry is getting better at managing that.
And I think Zach will be handled
in a better manner than what West Coast handles.
Very poor.
We're all growing up.
Absolutely.
And speaking of people that you've come across,
we touched on it early off the top.
You've tripled in footy.
You got to meet Queen Mary.
You got to meet me.
Yes.
And I've had the pleasure as well.
First impressions,
Royalty, myself, am I far off?
What do you think?
Oh, you're definitely on the same level.
Oh, good.
And actually, when it comes to kicking,
you're better than her, of course.
But she's a pretty good kick.
I don't know whether you saw the vision,
but she can kick the ball out on this ground.
She had one kick.
This was not a number of kicks in.
Then we got the shot.
One kick for goal,
and she put it straight through the middle.
Right.
What do you, Tazzi,
wants to boot you out of Tazzi?
Are you fighting for that?
No, mate.
We build it.
Well, look.
We.
I'd like to talk about this.
So obviously, I saw the comments that Brendan has made.
He's made public comments a couple of times.
And look, we're constantly asked by people that live
particularly in the north of Tazzi.
What are you doing?
Are you staying?
Are you going?
What do you want to do?
And we're pretty clear about this.
We've had 25 years of consecutive history
in Launceston,
which is a quarter of our VFL-AFL existence.
So this is a significant amount of time.
We have permanent staff that live in Launceston or in the north,
who work for our club.
We don't fly in and fly them out.
They live in Tasmania.
We have, call it 9,000 members.
So 9,000 of our 84 and 1,500 members last year live in Tasmania
and they're mostly in the north.
Yes, we love playing at Utah's stadium as well.
And we've got a very good record there.
That is true.
But in terms of the commitment that we've made to the Tasmania community
and so on, we've got a contract this year and next to play four home games
and a preseason game.
And we'll speak with VFL about it.
And we do.
We have about our intention to keep going if they agree with that.
And that's what we're focused on.
So we're very keen to stay.
We think that it can work with the Devils and us.
We'll be the part-timers, if you like, playing four games.
And they'll play, I think, it's 11 games down there.
Seven at the new stadium when it's built and four at Utah's stadium.
We think the model can work.
It's up to the AFL to decide whether they think it can work.
And what's best for the game?
What's best for Tasmania?
And then, of course, what's best for the Devils and what's best for the Hawks?
As a pass by Ajay, the amount of time effort and energy we put into Tasie.
But the amount we got back from Tasie, I'm not sure there's a better connection in the AFL.
But the club wasn't there then.
I understand that.
No, I understand that.
But I think from a football point of view,
if Hawthorne just sprinkling every now and then down there, you've got Tasie.
It's a great rivalry and it's a great way to build football down there.
So, yeah, I just think the time and effort that Hawthorne put in
and the value that they've added to that state
there should certainly be a level of respect there.
Andy, thanks so much for stopping by.
We appreciate your time. Good luck tonight.
And you.
Good luck with what's coming up in the future. There's a bit going on.
Thanks, guys. Good night.
Do we break?
Thanks.
It's time for the Thursday rub to put a few noses out of joint.
It's skating.
Close to the lead.
And we're not going with the status quo.
This will be popular, but I think Sam Darcey should play fullback.
Or I think this is a popular, but I think Peter Blanty's has got a really cool hairstyle.
Oh, no.
This is the Thursday rubs.
I'm popular.
I'm popular.
Peter Ragnan, he loves your segment.
He's a big fan.
It's been...
Why not at the G?
Very, what's that?
Why not at the G?
Yeah, wow.
He was number 12.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We should get him on.
I love him.
He said we should get him on.
Yeah, we should get him on.
Why not?
Yeah, we should get him on.
And let's talk about his bruja ha ha with football.
Can you pour a party's numbers?
Because I'm just not sure they're going on.
Is the party a contact list that's growing?
That's very fun.
That's the first time he's smiled.
And popular is our favorite segment on a Sunday.
And it's where we say something on a Sunday?
Oh, Thursday.
And is it our favorite?
The Sunday rub.
It's 10 years on the Sunday rub.
It's got me.
I like it.
I just don't know it's something that is in popularity.
It's something that is against the grain, against the current,
something which you wouldn't have already heard.
Now Tasmania has been in the news this week.
They want to kick Hawthorne out of the Apple.
Browning Girls have been doing their TV shows.
Now they have $5 million in their back pocket
to give to players as sign on bonus.
If they want Nick Daykos, they can pay him his salary of $1.5 or $2 million a year,
plus $5 million a sign on money. My unpopular opinion, is it? It's not enough.
Yeah, I thought the same. The AFL, well don't make it sound too popular,
because it's going to be out of the eyes, eh?
Because just so you've got five players who get an extra $1 million each as a sign on bonus,
you lose half of that to the tax man, of course.
Is $500,000 going to get, for example, Braden Maynard out of the Collingwood football club
to become a Luke Hodgstall leader of the Tasmania football club?
I don't think it is. Well, I might get Braden Maynard out,
because I'm not sure he's on the dollars that some others might be,
so he's probably a poor example to do. But I think $5 million is nowhere near enough.
When you think about the salary cap being $20 million, and players are going to be getting paid
$2 million, so, for example, a nickname or signs, he might get an extra million
in a contract that's going to be worth $18 to $20 million over the lifetime of the contract.
That's not enough to rip him out of Collingwood.
When this first came out, the $5 million sign on bonus, everyone went,
wow, that's fat stacks.
Yeah, and then look at fuel. You feel about your car three times.
Correct. Lucky you can walk from Hobart to the ground.
So, look, Tasmania is selling it. I think it's an attractive place,
but is there enough corn to be able to lure the corn?
Corn, corn, corn, corn, corn.
Very Jerry McGuire of you.
I'm not sure. You're about to hire Jerry.
That's my popular opinion. Go on, Isaac.
My own popular opinion is, and I'm about to shoot Bambi, Jay-Z,
that there should be no exemplary record.
Go again. Go again. That's why there shouldn't be one.
There should be no record. At the Tri-Buneral, you do the action,
you pay the time, you do the crime, you do the play the time.
I just think we're, I just think that we're...
Have you been on a sizzle?
Yeah, I've gone.
Yeah, I think so. I'll just have a coffee. That's a good coffee.
But I just think in this day and age, with all the localities around the
bumping in the head and all that jazz, that if you do it,
you cop the whack, and there's no, oh, you're a good bloke,
or you've been very good over 400 and something gains,
and I've got nothing against Scott Pendlebury.
I just think that we need to take all these little things out of the judiciary.
You just said that the two hawks should get off their charge
because they were great blocs.
I didn't say that.
No, I didn't.
And now you said...
I said, if they're getting in trouble for being on a sizzle lift...
It's a backflip from your eyes, I think.
It's a backflip opinion.
I've had to change my own popular because some...
I think you saying that this segment is the favourite on a Thursday night
has made you very unpopular with the Queen, all of a sudden.
Okay?
Well, I mean, if you get two segments,
you've got a more chance of having one of them as the favourite, don't you?
If you get two, you're the only one.
The first thing is...
Just quickly, Zach Butters, what's the latest?
You're going to have yours? Have you got yours?
No, I don't really have one tonight.
Okay, Zach Butters...
Oh, we don't want that in segments, right?
No, I did, but it's kind of been covered.
We've got about 30 seconds.
Western Bulldogs trying to make it 0-3.
Can we go to the Luke Babbage Grab?
Babbage.
Babbage Grab, please.
George, you all right?
Let's listen to Luke Babbage on Zach Butters.
I think with anything around the detail and the connection with the play,
you know, I'm on record saying I absolutely need to make sure on front square
when we get an opportunity, and I have over time,
but I can't give any detail on whether or not I've connected with Zach or not.
I don't want to get into the trouble that Sam was in last year.
Have they met, do you think Isaac?
100%.
Of course they have.
Aren't they, if our rules, just ridiculous?
Yes.
Like that a coach has got to stand up there and talk that way.
He should have said,
yes, he should be allowed to say,
yes, I've met with him.
Yes, we've had discussion.
We're not sure where to go.
And what are the professional sport?
Is it like this?
It's hippy toe around and there's this and that.
Oh, oh, we met and we got caught.
Like who cares?
Like they're doing their due diligence.
Zach Butters is doing his due diligence by talking to clubs.
Like get over it guys.
There should be two, two week windows where it's there's a transfer.
Is it discussions where they're allowed in over the off season
and then in the mid season by.
But adults, they should be allowed whenever.
Great.
Jay, you've been excellent.
Thank you.
Well done.
Thank you.
I think that the list was a bit harsh during the week,
but hopefully we kind of lifted your spirits up a little bit.
Happy with 26.
Now you're better than 26 now.
We have at least 24.
Wait for the triple M1.
Ross says no set up for a meteor.
Wait for it.
20 next week.
They say he's going to be lost.
