Tim Settle Returns to Commanders on $23M Deal

Tim Settle is back with the Washington commanders on a 3-year deal worth between $23 million

and $25.5 million.

The 28-year-old defensive tackle was originally drafted by the team in the 5th round out of

Virginia Tech back in 2018.

This move bolsters their defensive line after a rough 5-win 12-loss season and one of the

league's worst defenses.

Settle spent his first four years in Washington as a rotational player before moving on to the

Buffalo Bills for two seasons and then the Houston.

Texans for two more.

Last year with Houston, he started 12 games, notching 15 tackles, three tackles for loss,

one sack, and three passes defended, proving reliable against the run.

The commanders finish near the bottom defensively last season, so adding Settle makes sense with

his familiarity and steady play.

It pairs well with their recent signing of Ed rusher Odafe Owe showing their series

about rebuilding a front under new coaching.

From nearby Manasse's Virginia, Settle grew up a fan of the team and seized this as a

true homecoming.

He described the facility feeling like home, with great energy and a welcoming vibe, excited

about the changes since he left four years ago.

Recently, Settle visited the team headquarters to sign his contract and chatted with local

media.

He shouted out familiar faces like Punter Tress Way, Safety, Jeremy Reeves, wide receiver

Terry McCorn, and defensive tackle Darren Payne, noting he's already reconnected with

Payne and looks forward to more.
