There is a time and season for everything.
It is a question of allowing your life to be guided by me,
so that you know the right time and season with a clear inner knowing
and can move swiftly following those inner promptings with absolute confidence.
When you are at peace within, time means nothing.
It is when you are unhappy or uncomfortable that you find time drags,
and you feel that the day will never end.
When you are enjoying what you are doing, time flies by,
and you wish that there were more hours in a day.
It is important that you learn to enjoy to the full,
everything you undertake,
and that your attitude towards it is right.
You will get far more done,
and it will be done with love,
and therefore will be done perfectly.
Let perfection be your aim at all times.
When you do something with love, you're doing it for me.

It does go a lot easier at times, isn't it?
I mean, when you're focusing on your work that you've been doing,
you know, the times just slip by, isn't it, for you?
You know, you've got through, like,
a long period of having a really nasty cold,
but because you've occupied your mind,
you haven't been thinking of self, have you?
Yeah, you weren't.
Well, shall it help, too?
All the time, thinking, oh, I feel really ill,
oh, I feel, you know, dreadful, you know,
you've saved yourself,
the bondage of self by, you know,
being distracted, haven't you?
Well, we are having a purpose,
a project or an occupation
that feels useful, you know, worth doing,
then, you know, you feel it,
it's time well spent, you know,
it's kind of like being useful
rather than being useless.
It's the difference between, you know,
activation and coverage.
And the days did drag.
And when you had hangovers, didn't they, they dragged?
Oh, it was all less, you know.
In self-feeding ill, without a purpose.
Yeah, well, we'll cut this morning,
like about 10 to 6.
And, you know, just getting light.
And I thought, oh, the sun will be set,
the sun will be rising in the east.
You know, we're on the east coast.
So I'll be able to see the sun rise from the sea,
because it's like, well, it's a clear morning.
There's a bit of cloud in the horizon, you know.
It's just that gap, you know,
sort of, I've got, I've had a distance sleep.
I can get up and do something useful,
meaningful, and be present.
You know, rather than shaking off a hangover from,
you know, even if you're doing control drinking.
You still feel fully dehydrated and yucky, didn't you?
Yeah, you don't get a proper sleep, actually, you know.
So the alcohol-free life has many, many bonuses, really.
Just, you know, grateful for that.
Definitely.
Yeah, it's a lovely sunny morning.
And it's been, you know, the days ahead, yeah,
and it's kind of like, well,
I have seven freedom,
rather than, you know, feeling a bit of share,
feeling a bit, you know, the regret, you know,
just yourself inflicted illness,
you know, so it's a safe point.
We were going to go and see your friends last night,
but, you know, alcohol had paid a part in that, I don't know.
Yeah.
That we couldn't go, so, you know,
it doesn't help things to sit a lot of the time.
It makes access to things.
And it is lovely to experience a sunrise
and being outside and seeing the sun on the sea.
It is lovely.
And, you know, when your mind's in the right space,
whatever task you're doing doesn't seem as bad, you know,
yoga, just a flu-bast,
and I really enjoyed it, you know,
if your mind's in the right space, you know, for you.
It's about service, isn't it?
When you're picking up litter, you're doing God's will,
getting more power, you feel better.
What did you say about the Japanese after the football?
The Japanese football supporters stayed behind a couple of the litter,
so they left the stadium for the way they found it.
And the football team does the same with the changing room,
and they have a culture of kindness.
I think it's brilliant.
I'm going to Japan.
Yeah.
I'm going to Japan, see how clean it is.
That's right out your street.
But, yeah, you know, that's such a polite thing to do.
Yeah.
And, you know, they won.
The first time in England had been beaten by an Asian team.
They beat Scotland and they beat England.
And the Scottish team and the English team
were both booed by their supporters.
You know, I just think, you know, where's the gratitude?
The winner all the time, if you don't win, you get booed.
That's just rude.
Just savage, you know, just mean.
And, you know, alcohol, put it apart like never I church, you know.
Fuck you, alcohol.

As we understood him, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry that out.

So, praying, what should we, what should we put in the power to carry that out.
I'm going to much to, but I don't really do that.
You know, the, you know, the joy make you a table of God's will self well.
Very helpful.
You know, to pray, pray for, you know, these qualities, you know, to have patience and tolerance and love and care.
Practice the principles in all your affairs, isn't it?
That's God's will.
Each principle, each step, practice that in all your affairs.
Yeah.
You know, prayer, talking to God, meditation, listening to God.
And, you know, for me, that is an, you know, sending our formations into the universal field of consciousness.
And waiting for our downloads from the universal field of consciousness,
coming to my consciousness with sufficient force that they seem important.
And, you know, for me, prod from God, I get a prod from God.
It's a niggling thought that won't go away and I have to act on it.
I always think, oh, I needed to do that.
I, you know, I've learned to trust prod from God.
An intuitive thought.
It's like the morning routine, isn't it?
It's just like reinforcing.
You know, what, what's, what's God's will for me on awakening?
You know, what, what would, how shall I direct my thinking today?
That's always a good one, isn't it, that passage?
Yeah.
I mean, I came to, came to believe after,
nor really believe in anything.
You know, instead, instead to,
came to believe, instead, that he made a decision,
instead of 11 prayer meditation,
and over the years, that the prayer meditation helps you come to believe.
And, you know, that, that show idea of step three, you know,
changes from making a decision once,
to continually deciding what must do God's will.
What is that?
You know, for me, it's like, be useful.
For me, God's work.
You know, we get into 12 when we do service.
So the, you know, this whole thing about God,
it's like, it's just language that is a way of, you know,
discussing or communicating how you're thinking and behaving.
Yeah, self-regulation, isn't it, really?
It's, you know, self-will-run riot.
And then suddenly, we've got to practice these principles in all our fairs.
And, you know, we're told to do set prayers.
But what happens as sort of, oh, right, a set of instructions,
for me, starts to become ingrained.
And, you know, it says we'd live the steps.
And so it becomes a working part of our lives.
But for me, it's like a battle of the ego against God's will.
You know, where I've got fear.
I've got to have faith.
I've got to keep battling to let go of, you know, my fears and resentments.
Because they're there, because we're human.
But I've got to put them into a manageable way of living
that doesn't require being so overwhelmed that I need to pick up a drink.
And I can do that.
I've done it for how many years, you know, by picking up the toolkit,
instead of being an alcoholic.
And that is a massive change in my life.
I'm useful.
And going back to that first reading, you know, I have a purpose.
I enjoy life.
And, you know, it's vastly different to waking up feeling like I don't want to wake up.
It's now like...
Feeling disappointed.
Yeah.
There's nothing worse than self-loathing, isn't it?
Because you don't get rid of it.
And you had the constantly feeling like you've let everyone down.
Everyone's, you know, talking about you.
You know, it's just dreadful.
You know, that kind of dynamic of fuck tomorrow, I'm going to get pissed now.
I'm going to enjoy myself now.
I know I'm going to feel shit tomorrow.
Fuck tomorrow.
I'm having a party now.
And when tomorrow comes, it's like, why the fuck do I do that?
I feel really, really dreadful.
Today's fucking ruined.
How can I be so stupid?
You know, I'm a fucking useless idiot, blah, blah, blah.
Oh, I know how it goes, you know.
And then you start feeling a bit better.
And then it's like, I thought tomorrow I'm going to have a party.
You know, and...
I don't know what it is.
But you can have compassion for that little person that you were.

Well, it's just remembering the kind of futility of it all.
You know, recovery has its challenges.
And sometimes it's frustrating life.
One bath or after another.
Yeah, but it's...
It's better than an alcoholic death.
