A serious crash went down on highway to Nate in Stanislaus County Thursday night. It was a head-on collision between a Honda and a Ford pickup. The CHP got the call around 8.30 pm east of Lancaster Road. When officers got there, they found the driver of the Honda had passed away. The driver of the Ford pickup, however, only had minor injuries. The initial investigation points to the Honda driver drifting into the Eastbound lanes, which is where the Ford was headed. This led to the head-on impact. The Honda then caught fire, and sadly the driver couldn't get out. The driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities are still looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in this tragic event. The CHP is continuing their investigation into the exact cause of the crash.
